Dale Earnhardt Jr. used to watch The Winston from the condo his family owned at the Charlotte track. In 2000, he became the first rookie to win it, taking four tires on a late pit stop and blowing past Dale Jarrett on Lap 69 of 70. "We didn't come here to run second," Earnhardt Jr. said that night, in what's since become a calling card for the event. But more memorable than the race itself was the scene in Victory Lane, with Dale Earnhardt -- who had finished third -- embracing his son and the two of them wearing wide smiles on their faces. The significance of that moment was magnified nine months later, when the elder Earnhardt was lost in the Daytona 500. But that one instant in Charlotte still resonates, even today.
My article from this weeks Sports Journal of Central Indiana. I'll be honest. I was disappointed that there wasn't any NASCAR this weekend since it's been such a great start, but this past weekend was about being with families. Now the NASCAR family comes back together at Richmond for a little Saturday Night Short Track Action. Darlington was a fun race with Kevin Harvick dominating and being the first pole winner at Darlington since 1997 (Dale Jarrett) Harvick believe it or not restarted 5th after a green white checkered attempt but after a wreck and another restart passed Dale Jr. for the win. He led 238 laps in the race. Harvick won last years Richmond race in similar fashion restarting 7th and taking the lead to win on a green white checkered finish. Prior to that, Kyle Busch had won the last 4 spring races at Richmond. This should be a great race at the 3/4 mile oval with fast speeds. Other contenders for this race, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, and Jeff Gordon who was my pick at Darlington an ...

You know what?... I usually don't respond to rumors but im fed up with all the crap about Jeff Gordon... Jeff Gordon doesn't have to prove himself to anyone about anything... He is a very happily, married man, to a supermodel might I add, and has 2 very beautiful kids... The people who make up such garbage about him or anyone else of that matter are nothing more than sad, pathetic looking people who are seeking attention... The reason people don't like Jeff is because when he entered Nascar, He took over and dominated the sport... He beat legends like Dale Earnhardt Sr., Terry & Bobby Labonte, Dale Jarrett, Darrell Waltrip and the list goes on and on... People tell me "He'll never be Dale Earnhardt"... Cool, He never claimed to be... He had respect for Earnhardt and Earnhardt took him under his wing and taught him all he knew about Nascar and taught him how to win 4 championships... He also told Jeff, and I quote Earnhardt Sr, "If your gonna make it in this sport son you have to ignore all the *** who ...
Had bad info earlier. But here's updated info on Dale Jr starting out season 1st, 2nd, 2nd … Dale Earnhardt Jr joins Richard Petty (1969, 1974), Cale Yarborough (1977), Dale Jarrett (1996) and Jimmie Johnson (2006) as drivers to start the season with three straight top-two finishes
Taking in consideration some of these gentleman have left us, but if they where still here who do you feel would make the top 6 with 2 alternates. Benny Parsons, Dave DeSpain, Buddy Baker, Winston Kelley, Joe Moore, Barney Hall , Dale Jarrett, Chris Economaki, Larry McReynolds, *** Berggren, Ned Jarrett, Bob Jenkins, Mike Joy, Ken Squier, Allen Bestwick, Kyle Petty, Jack Arute, Chris Berman, Jeff Hammond, Dr. Jerry Punch,
Here is something to think about: If you suddenly had the money to start your won network that had the total rights to all Nascar programing, RRN ( Redneck Racing Network) or whatever name you wanted to give it. Whom would you hire as the commentators for the show. Myself, I think i would go with Jeff Hammond, Kyle Petty, Dale Jarrett and still hang with DW. I really like Kyle cause he pretty much says what he thinks.
Ok. I'm not a huge Jr. fan but I have a soft spot for the Earnhardts at Daytona. I'm old school. I loved Dale Jarrett! just isn't the same. Miss Darrell Waltrip racing but also love his excitement while announcing. Things sure are different than old Winston Cup racing! And finally, the irony wasn't lost on me that took out Danika, considering what Petty has had to say about her. Total accident but oh the irony.
The Daytona 500 once produced the "Dale and Dale" show when NASCAR Hall of Fame drivers Dale Jarrett and Dale Earnhardt finished one-two in a dramatic battle in 1993. A few miles south, a story of two drivers with the same name - just with different spellings - is taking place at New Smyrna Speedway in the Super Late Model division. Steve Wallace and Stephen Nasse are making the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car racing their play ground with their own show after two nights.

is inducting Dale Jarrett into the NASCAR Hall of Fame tonight LIVE on FOX SPORTS at 7pm! Gonna be so cool!!
TUNE IN to the because we're about to talk to NASCAR's Dale Jarrett who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Watch online:
I. Know that I am going to open a can of worms. The number 3 and number 88 will be at the top of most of the races this year. I loved Dale Sr. But it's time for number 3 to come back. I know that I agreed with Adam on a post but if Dale Jr can drive 88 which was Dale Jarrett number correct me if I'm wrong. Why can't Austin drive the number 3? Dale Jr doesn't have a problem with it. I know that Richard Childress was best friends with Dale Sr. I believe Dale Sr would be happy with Richard grandson driving it. Go number 3 and number 88.
Lee Petty, Junior Johnson, Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, and Terry Labonte all came close to making the top 10.

Dale Jarrett & Leonard Wood getting the show started!
That's because Ned was the consummate professional. I remember how he always called his son Dale Jarrett too.
I agree, you could hear it in Dale Jarrett voice during the broadcast.
Remember that time Michael Waltrip hired Dale Jarrett and told us it totally wasn’t for the past champion's provisional
I like Dale Jarrett but he's retired. So it wasn't him. That's how much Nascar I know.
I am holding my breathe just like Dale Jarrett did in those UPS commercials back in the day
for sure. Especially when Dale Jarrett said Nascar was wrong for not penalizing Carl and the way he said it too!
Some do! The announcers Sat night didn't hold back! Much respect to to Dale Jarrett. Andy Petrie, & Rusty Wallace! They knew it!!!
dale Jarrett seems to know his stuff, If he says it was bs I agree!!
I'd say hearing dale Jarrett plus what we all saw on tv maybe?
Dale Jarrett called them out on it I wonder why NASCAR didn't review? It would have tremendous impact on the chase
When Ray Evernham, Rusty Wallace, Dale Jr, Dale Jarrett, TJ Majors, and countless others are suspicious, I'm going to be suspicious.
Kudos to & Dale Jarrett 4 telling it like it is, and
Dale Jarrett said it well the final restart was "wrong" but as long as it benefits one on the major teams its ok
Dale Jarrett said it best; "they can have whatever reason they want, but it's WRONG."
When is the last time Rusty, Evernham, and Dale Jarrett agreed on anything?
Dale Jarrett is right. There is a rule in place where the leader MUST cross the line first during a restart. That didn't happen.
Carl Edwards jumped the restart. Dale Jarrett said NASCAR was wrong for not calling it!!! did a great job!!
Dale Jarrett and Brad Daughtery just said it "You can't just flip a switch and start winning races!"
At least Dale Jarrett tells it like it is
There's a reason why Dale Jarrett was one of only 2 Ford drivers that I liked back when I started watching.
Thank you Dale Jarrett for having the guts to call out NASCAR for blowing restart decision with no-call when Carl Edwards jumped the start.
Also nascar took that away by allowing cheating edwarda restart. Good to hear dale jarrett RIPPING nascar
“Thank you Dale Jarrett! NASCAR was WRONG!” Finally someone called it like we all saw it.
So refreshing to hear Dale Jarrett speaking the truth regarding the restarts
Dale Jarrett please report to the trailer for daring to question Drunky & friends
Not often i agree with dale jarrett, but that restart was questionable. 2 nights in a row, restart controversy...bring on the chase...
thanks Dale Jarrett for calling it like you see it about the final restart. You're exactly right!
dale jarrett just called NASCAR out on TV. "They can have their reason but its wrong"
Dale Jarrett is right. Can't beat the leader to the line. We've seen penalties multiple times this year for that. 99 beat leader to line.
Finally someone who will say is wrong! Nice Dale Jarrett!
Dale Jarrett speaking the truth. Nascar credibility is officially shot in my book.
Get it dale jarrett. Join Newman in the unemployment line for that comment
yep Dale Jarrett right that's wrong no way should Edwards get this win BS NASCAR
Dale Jarrett should be a nascar official. The guys fair and isnt blind.
Dale Jarrett said screwed up with Edwards. In related news, Dale Jarrett will get the rest of the season off.
Is Dale Jarrett even watching the same race as the rest of us? We get it you don't like Carl. We get it. Geez!
Kudos to Dale Jarrett for strenuously raising the issue of the restart.
Credit to Dale Jarrett for calling BS on that restart, it is just wrong that there was no penalty, Edwards does not deserve that win.
Thank you Dale Jarrett, you have my respect for pointing that out. Ironic how ESPN just indirectly mentioned how the …

Dale Jarrett on adding spice to the all-star race: “I think it’s time we take it to a short track and let drivers battle it out.”
4. Dale Jarrett - The mustache was a symbol of success for Jarrett, when he shaved it, his success went away also.

I worked with Dale Jarrett's team for a while. FORD
saw a 90 year old lady driving a car that had Dale Jarrett stickers all over her car & an "OBAMA, why stupid people shouldn't vote" sticker. as well as a guy doing doughnuts in his driveway on his lawnmower!!! so all in all, i'd say a good start to the day. good trip to Clinton there!!
Celebrate the newest NASCAR Hall of Fame-r, Dale Jarrett by entering to win a Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure in...
Large deep freeze for sale 100.00 works great I just have no use for it. And a old Coca-Cola NASCAR cooler, the lid is missing but it's got Senior on it damnit...You know you want it, make me an offer!
Thanks m other nature for flooding our basement it's exactly what I wanted to see this morning. Lost couple thousand football cards, some of my Dale Jarrett collection and a ton of books and sheet music. Guess it serves me right for storing it in boxes under the pool table. Yay!
Thanks to everyone who submitted pictures of your most favorite DJ items. You can continue to post them, just wanted to set aside a time to share them, which was done today. Thank you for all the support for Dale over the years, it means a lot to him.
We had a good time at the Coca-Cola 600 with Danica Patrick, Ned and Dale Jarrett, Marcus Smith, Senator Tim Scott, Oliver North, Jeff Gordon, Rick Hendrick, and Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson. My thoughts and prayers go out to the fans who were injured on Sunday night.
CONGRATULATIONS to Dale Jarrett for his induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Way to go DJ...
bet someone that reads this could give their father the best Father's Day ever! Everyone wants to driver a Ferrari at Talladega! Where else could you possibly find an experience like this other than the Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure?
Dale Jarrett talks about being elected to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
turn 2: Did HOF committee get it right with: Tim Flock, Jack Ingram, Dale Jarrett, Maurice Petty, and Fireball Roberts?
I'm sorry, and I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but the whole thing about the soldier's explaining who and why there fav. driver is, when that guy tells about Dale Jr., really? Again, I know he's a fan of the earnhardt's and you can tell he's a huge dedicated fan, and that's good, glad that we have such big fans of this sport in our services...but really? Earnhardt Jr. is the best? All the Earnhardt's are the best? What has Kerry done? Dale Sr. won 7 championship's, but so did Richard, he didn't win 5 of those in a row...He doesnt have as many win's as Gordon, or Petty? So how does all these Earnhardt fan's explain that? Yes, he was good, he was great and the thing's he could do was amazing. But he is and never will be the greatest ever. Stats were made for a reason, and they prove that he was nowhere near the greatest. He just happened to be the greatest at his time of racing, Again, Just me letting off a little bit about these earnhardt's!!! Hope it didn't offend anybody
Racing just ain't the same without my man, DALE JARRETT!!!
Come on Nascar, I have nothing against Dale Jarrett, but really lets just go ahead and induct Dale, Jr., really I think some of the old timers should go in first, the ones that suffered and didn't have high dollar sponsors, like they have today.
That big pumpkin head larry mac picked KYLE BUSCH TO WIN.Finally he makes some sense! GO KYLE!
Dale Jarrett, Hall of Fame. I think it's about time. 2nd father son to make it. I know some may see others. But, you need to go back to the beginning.
Congrats to Dale Jarrett on the NASCAR hall of fame nomination !
Members of the 2014 class of the NASCAR HOF: Dale Jarrett, Jack Ingram & Maurice Petty at Charlotte M.S.
When Trevor Bayne takes the green flag for the Coca-Cola 600, it will mark a special race for his team. Wood Brothers Racing will make their 1,400th start in the Cup Series this weekend. The team made their series debut at Martinsville, in 1953 with Glen Wood behind the wheel, going on to field cars for many different drivers during seven decades in NASCAR. That's included David Pearson, A.J. Foyt, Cale Yarborough, Curtis Turner, Donnie Allison, Dan Gurney, Neil Bonnett, and Dale Jarrett. Current driver Bayne took the famed No. 21 to Victory Lane in the 2011 Daytona 500, one of 98 career wins they've scored in NASCAR's top division.
Dale Jarrett, Jack Ingram and Maurice Petty were voted in this past Wednesday along with the late Tim Flock and the late Fireball Roberts
Congrats Dale Jarrett on being accepted to the NASCAR hall of fame. Haven't watched 10 races since he retired
Allison mentioned Fred Lorenzen should be in next year; he should hae been in this year. We need to consider Wendell Scott, too. He raced in the south which was not that friendly to Black drivers, or Black people in general. And he won a race in a car that Ned Jarrett gave, so not everyone was that unsympathetic. You had to have a pretty large pair to do that, both of them.
Congratulations to Dale Jarrett on being voted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Dale Jarrett was inducted into the 2014 NASCAR Hall of Fame this week!
Congratulations to the man who got me hooked on Nascar - Dale Jarrett . A true underdog who took on Earnhardt, Wallace,Elliott and some young guns like Gordon and kicked their butts - especially at Daytona, Indy and Michigan. I was thrilled to witness DJ win twice at my favorite track - Darlington.
Great day. Dale Jarrett was just inducted into NASCAR hall of fame. Well deserved
So disappointed in the Hall of Fame. so many deserving names that NEED to be in there, and BELONG in there, but they just keep putting in modern day drivers.

Congratulations to Dale Jarrett for being named to the 2014 Class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. He joins his Dad, Ned Jarrett in the HOF. We now have our past Honorary Chairman, Dale and our current Honorary Chairman, Ned in NASCAR’s prestigious Hall of Fame!!
Impressions from a NASCAR Hall of Fame voter: from AutoWeek's Al Pearce. often wondered how much pressure NASCAR exerts on voters, either subtly or outright. Short answer: none, at least not publicly. Granted, several executives from Daytona Beach spoke eloquently in favor of specific nominees, but never once did anyone suggest the rest of the voting panel should follow their lead. In three cases, in fact, the nominees they seemed to favor didn't make the cut. On the other hand, Maurice Petty and Dale Jarrett did.often wondered whether officials lobby voters to consider living candidates who can support and promote the Hall of Fame.often wondered whether the high-profile "Voting Day" is just an elaborate and well-orchestrated sham
My son informs me that my guy, Dale Jarrett is in the NASCAR Hall of Fame for the 2014 class. Congrats Dale!
By the way, all of you know that I do full races on NASCAR games, which are SIM Racing games. I have raced several driver's cars in races and won with them, from Dale Earnhardt Jr's. Budweiser, and Chevrolets to the Roush Fords, Hendrick Chevys, the Wood Brothers Ford, Gibbs' Toyotas, Penske's Dodges, and Dale Jarrett's UPS Ford. Now I'm proud to say I drive my own car for my own team in all 3 of NASCAR's Racing Series on NASCAR The Game: Inside Line. My team is the MAK Inc. which stands for Matthew Adam Kowal Incorporated. with me as the driver, and I drive the Sunoco Chevrolet Impala/Chevrolet SS/Camaro/Silverado. My team and all the equipment is built by the team. I decided on the to continue that number's legacy after my driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. departed that number when he went to drive the 88 at Hendrick after the 2007 season. It's Dale Jr's. number and I'm giving Junior Nation something to cheer for as I race with him like he's a teammate.
JT'S SPORTS NEWS NASCAR - The five newest inductees to the NASCAR Hall Of Fame were announced yesterday. They include: Dale Jarrett, Tim Flock, Fireball Roberts, Maurice Petty, and Jack Ingram. The Atlanta Braves made it 6 wins in a row Wednesday, defeating the Minnesota Twins 8 to 3. NBA Playoffs - Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals last night went to the Miami Heat. The defending champions outlasted the Indiana Pacers in overtime 103 to 102.
Congratulations! Dale Jarrett is/was a fantastic race car driver and Glenn "Fireball" Roberts I don't know him.
NASCAR honored a pair of its most famous and successful families with inductions into the Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Past champion Dale Jarrett joined father Ned in the hall and master mechanic Maurice "Chief" Petty became the fourth member of one of NASCAR's most royal families to be selected for enshrinement. Maurice joins older brother, "King" Richard Petty; their father, championship driver Lee Petty; and cousin Dale Inman, Richard's longtime crew chief in the hall. Tim Flock, a two-time premier series champion, also was selected along with Jack Ingram, who drove to success on what became NASCAR's Nationwide Series; and Fireball Roberts, the flashy showman from the 1950s who raced to 33 victories before his death in 1964. The group will be inducted into the hall during ceremonies here next January. Ned Jarrett jumped out of his seat and hugged Dale when his name was announced. Dale Jarrett said he was dressed for his son's graduation party and expected to bolt out once the announcements were made. He ...

My take on 2014 Hall of Fame class: Mostly good picks, but Dale Jarrett got in too soon:
Dale Jarrett showed up dressed for a pool party and left as a Hall of Famer. -->
Dale Jarrett, Maurice Petty highlight 2014 class of NASCAR Hall of Fame -
We'll have today's links for you in a little while. In the meantime, what did YOU think if the five people selected last night for the NASCAR Hall of Fame? -Tim Flock (2-time champion in what's now Sprint Cup; 39 wins; 18 victories in 1955) -Jack Ingram (5-time champion in the Sportsman division/Busch Series, now the Nationwide Series; 31 wins with 29 on short tracks; held series win record as a regular until 1997) -Dale Jarrett (1999 Cup champion, 32 wins, 3-time Daytona 500 champion; TV broadcaster) -Maurice Petty (engine builder; built Richard Petty's engines for all 7 championships and all 7 Daytona 500 wins; also built winning engines for Lee Petty, Buddy Baker, Jim Paschal, and Pete Hamilton) -Fireball Roberts (one of the first superstars of the sport, Daytona 500 and 2-time Southern 500 winner, won 33 times in what's now Sprint Cup; died at age 35 from complications after a crash at Charlotte)
Dale Jarrett? Seems to me that either Bill Elliott or Ray Evernham may have been a better choice of contemporaries...just saying.
Does anybody want to go to Dale Jarrett's NASCAR Hall of Fame induction ceremony?
Tim Flock won the first NASCAR race at my beloved Road America in 1956. Jack Ingram won the first NASCAR race which I ever attended in 1985 at my beloved Milwaukee Mile. I want to congratulate Dale Jarrett at my next NNS race. Through his brother, I want to congratulate Maurice Petty at my next NSCS race. Fireball Roberts is the fifth worthy member of the fifth NASCAR Hall of Fame class.
Tim Flock (76% of vote), Maurice Petty (67%), Dale Jarrett (56%), Jack Ingram (53%) and Fireball Roberts (51%). Surprised by Jarrett, but congratulations to all of the 2014 NASCAR Hall Of Fame Inductees!
HALL OF FAME UPDATE: So glad that Tim Flock, Fireball Roberts and the most underrated mechanic in NASCAR Maurice Petty are now in the Hall of Fame. I can also see a case for Jack Ingram. However I CANNOT fathom how Dale Jarrett was selected...oh wait, yes I can. It's about publicity. They need one person who new fans would know so they get press. Once again, a popularity contest, not based on merit. Joe Weatherly (two time champion), Rex White (Champion), Fred Lorenzen (the Golden Boy helped garner National attention for the sport, and won all the big races in the same season) Wendell Scott (the Jackie Robinson of NASCAR, where's your diversity program now)...And how about the track owners who helped grow the sport like Clay Earles, Enoch Staley, Harold Brasington (who built the first superspeedway and took NASCAR off the dirt.Seriously I could go on and on...But that's what happens when half the voters wouldn't know Curtis Turner if he walked up and punched them in the mouth.
think about this for next year! I mean, dont get me wrong. I like Dale Jarrett, but, before Rick Hendrick and Richard Childress?? Happy
Honestly Im upset about who got into the Why would Dale Jarrett get in before Rick Hendrick?? The people who voted need to
Results for the Fan Vote, alphabetical order, were Richard Childress,Rick Hendrick,Dale Jarrett,Benny Parsons and Fireball Roberts.
watching the NASCAR hall of fame nominations hopefully Rick Hendrick, Dale Jarrett, and Richard Childress get in
Around the Track..what a race at Airborne over the weekend..it’s the 2nd time the outcome has been decided by less then a 10th of a second in the first 4 American Canadian Tour events..that gives you an indication of the quality of racing and the parity of the competition! The car counts continue to build at Wiscasset Speedway..great news for the new owners, Richard & Vanessa Jordon..and more and more fans are coming and enjoying the rotating divisions! Voting takes place tomorrow for the Nascar Hall of Fame Class of 2013..there are 25 nominees made up of 14 drivers including familiar names like Benny Parsons & Dale Jarrett, both former Cup Champions & Fireball Roberts along with Team owners Richard Childress & Rick Hendrick..track owners Bruton Smith & Clay Earles and engine builders like Maurice Petty who oversaw the reign of the “King’, winning 7 Cup titles with 198 wins as the head engine builder for Richard Petty! John
IMO, the five Hall of Fame inductees should be Richard Childress, Dale Jarrett, Benny Parsons, Fireball Roberts, and Jack Ingram.
Dale Jarrett, Bruton Smith, Maurice Petty, Larry Phillips, Rex White are the 5 first-time nominees for the 2014 Class.
the new hall of fame should be. 1. Benny Parsons 2. Jack Ingram 3. Richard Childress 4. Red Byron 5. Dale Jarrett
Congrats to the five new Hall of Fame nominees: Dale Jarrett; Maurice Petty, Larry Phillips, Bruton Smith and Rex White!
Recapping: Bruton Smith, Dale Jarrett, Maurice Petty, Rex White and Larry Phillips are the five new nominees for the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
