I am a farmer's wife, I am a farmer's wife.last evening Dewey and I, on our four wheeler, the one with a steering wheel and small back end like a pick up, went out on the farm looking for a baby calf whose mommie had died. After trails I didn't remember well, I spotted the calf. He cornered it between the four wheeler and the fence, jumped out of the four wheeler, ran and dived on the calf. They are strong and fast even thou they are little. Anyway, I jumped out too and together, like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, picked it up, and it was kicking and pitching a fit , got it in the back of the fourwheeler, and headed home, where the little one got some homemade milk and a new place to stay.now a pet. Oh, by the way, Dewey gave me an A+. Just ask him! :-)

Although I'm a female, I had many of the cap guns as a child. I remember having so much fun with them as we reenacted the westerns on the television shows. Of course, my role was always as Dale Evans, who appeared as the wife of Roy Rogers, along with Trigger, the golden palomino, and Bullet, their German Shepherd Dog. The television episodes of The Roy Rogers Show also were featured in many movies. Roy Rogers being given the title of the "Singing Cowboy." The point being that as of this date, I have yet to take a gun a shoot at anyone.

I'm back. Had a lovely week with my mom in Florida. We celebrated her 86th birthday on April 5th. Didn't do a whole lot, just more or less hung out together watching old reruns on tv like Gilligan's Island, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, The Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and Mr. Ed. Also had some fun watching some old game shows. Like teenagers at a sleepover we stayed up late and talked and ate candy and cookies and slept in. We went to a luncheon, and we also went out to lunch with a friend of my mom's from where she used to work before she retired. ~ Also got to see Judy, my "sister" in Melbourne, FL, and wonder of wonders, got to see my friends play during one of their rehearsal. Wow. Wow Darcy. Wow Susie. Wow Art. They are so great and I enjoyed the music so much! ~ Also rented a Toyota Camry and drove all over Florida. Literally. Road construction made my directions invalid, so I ended up driving by the "seat of my pants" as it were. Always got where I was going, but saw s ...
The Roy Rogers Show is an American Western television series that broadcast one hundred episodes on NBC for six seasons between December 30, 1951 and June 9, 1957. The show starred Roy Rogers as a ranch owner, Dale Evans as the proprietress of the Eureka Cafe in fictional Mineral City, and Pat Brady as Roy’s sidekick and Dale's cook. Brady's jeep Nellybelle had a mind of her own and often sped away driverless with Brady in frantic pursuit on foot. Animal stars were Roy's Palomino horse, Trigger and his German Shepherd wonder dog, Bullet.

While watching an old Roy Rogers show on tv, I was struck by a statement that Dale Evans made to one of the characters. "Why should a son have any more faith in his father when his father has no faith in his son." Wow! And to think that our Father in heaven had so much faith in His Son that He sent Him to die for us and Jesus had so much faith in His Father to raise Him up from the grave that He was willing to lay down His life for us because they love us so much. Such love, grace and mercy that they trust us with their love.
Anyone remember watching I remember mama, life of Reilly, hop along Cassidy, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and dale Evans howdy dowdy. Those were good shows
the 1950's was the strong element of conservatism and anticommunist feeling which ran throughout much of society. One of the best indicators of the conservative frame of mind was the addition of the phrase "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. Religion was seen as an indicator of anti-communism. Fifties clothing was conservative. Men wore gray flannel suits and women wore dresses with pinched in waists and high heels. French fashion designers such as Dior, Chanel and Givenchy were popular and copied in America. Families worked together, played together and vacationed together at family themed entertainment areas like national parks and the new Disneyland. Gender roles were strongly held, girls played with Barbie dolls and Dale Evans gear, boys with Roy Rogers and Davy Crockett paraphernalia. Drive-in movies became popular for families and teens. Cars were seen as an indicator of prosperity and cool-ness. Highways were built to take people quickly from one place to another, by-passing small towns ...

I deleted the photo I had posted of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans because even though the group asks "what are your favorite memories of growing up in the Sunshine City", someone complained that it had nothing to do with St Petersburg. It was a favorite memory of mine and many other people who grew up here. There are other posts here that don't specifically refer to St Pete, but I deleted it rather than cause dissention. Happy Trails.

In her 1953 best selling book "Angel Unaware," singer, song-writer and actress Dale Evans, wife of Roy Rogers, told of their experiences together during the short life of their daughter, Robin, a Down's Syndrome child who died before her second birthday. My niece, Gloria, also a Down's Syndrome child, died this week and I have been thinking about the many blessings she brought to our family. Although she was my niece, she was only 5 years younger than myself, so we grew up together. I remember playing with her when we were children. As we grew older, her mind stayed that of a 4 year old, but she was such a happy soul, we always enjoyed being around her. For a Down's Syndrome child to live to be 60 is very unusual. But we are all so blessed to have had her with us for so many years. She brought joy to all she met and it is with absolute certainty that I can say she was, indeed, an Angel Unaware to all who knew and loved her.

I had the best dream last night. I had lunch with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. And, it was like we were old neighbors. Roy and I talked about horses and Dale and I talked about children. But, now I'm a wake and its raining. I guess Roy, Dale, and I won't be riding off on those Happy Trails today. Good morning, world.
this keeps coming into my head and i have to share it on here. Is there anyone on here who can remember when Roy Rogers (riding his horse trigger) and Dale Evans came to Blackheath in the early 1950's i was only knee high to a grasshopper but i can remember standing by the Handel Hotel holding my Mothers hand and waiting for him to arrive and standing in awe when they appeared. I may be mixing my days up but i seem to remember a cow escaping from the butchers over the road from the Handel in Oldbury Road (they used to kill their own meat then) and they had to catch it before Roy Rogers arrived lol, but its a long time ago so i may be connecting these two incidents together. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans did come to Birmingham in the early 50's they also visited Birds Custard Factory and Smethwick. Am i the only one who can remember this ??
I wished I lived next door to Roy Rogers & Dale Evans & I got to ride Trigger.

Call me outdated, old fashioned, and out of touch, But this is what I believe: What American culture could use today is more stars like Shirley Temple, John Wayne, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and LESS stars like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan and "Honey Boo-Boo"!

Does anyone remember the movies that would come to Greeleyville in a tent ? Oh I enjoyed going to them. All I remember were the cowboy movies like Johnny Mack Brown, The Long Ranger, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. I would sit up front on a long bench with no back.
This is the first song that I remember learning, outside of "Happy Trails to YOU" by Roy Rogers and Dale Evans including songs from Captain Kangeroo.
Noted with a very real sense of loss that Shirley Temple has died. As a young child, I spent many an hour parked in front of our elderly, cranky (the antenna had to be aimed just right ... or else) black & white television recuperating from any number of ailments or illnesses. My mother or Jewel would indulge me with a bowl of sugary cereal (Sugar Pops being a particular favorite) and I'd semi-happily pass the hours with beloved television programs. Over the years I had a semi-sorta crush on Johnny Weismuller who was, as far as I'm concerned, the best 'Tarzan' ever; laughed 'til I nearly wet myself at Lucy & Desi and the Three Stooges; puzzled over why Roy Rogers & Dale Evans had a Jeep but still used oil lamps (romantic lighting??); thought that 'Topper' and 'The Thin Man' were the ultimate in sophistication (Mryna Loy certainly was); and revered a young Elizabeth Taylor's riding skills in 'National Velvet'. I even went so far as to attempt an Edward G. Robinson sneer that did nothing more sinister ...

Throwback Thursday: We posted Roy Rogers and Trigger last Thursday. This week, it's all about Dale Evans and Buttermilk! Buttermilk was a light buckskin Quarter Horse with dark points. As a colt, he was rescued by a cattle farmer who bought him from a horse trader while being taken with others to a slaughter house. He had been severely abused and was very mean. The new owners named him Taffy and began training him to become a cutting competition horse. Eventually, he came around to assume a friendly and affectionate disposition. Dale Evans bonded with him on the set of the Roy Rogers show and purchased him from trainer Glen Randall. Buttermilk was actually faster than Trigger, which resulted in retaking a shot whenever the buckskin broke away ahead of Trigger. He starred in all but 6 episodes of the Roy Rogers Show and died in 1972 at the age of 31.
I have spent an hour or so this morning, to no avail! ---looking for pictures of my early childhood that I never put in an albumn, but carried around with me these last 60 years!! I know they are in this house somewhere! LOL In particular , I am looking for pictures of my tow- headed play-mate, Craddock Davis Verser, with whom I played every day from age 2 and 3 in the sandbox, to seven or so when we discovered that the opposite sex had cooties! Our favorite past time by far, was to play Roy Rogers and Dale Evans! We would shoot our imaginary bad guys and ride our imaginary horses off into the horizon singing "Happy Trails to YOu!" LOL Those were the days when kids went outside and stayed outside all day long! I am searching for these pictures because I just recently found out that my childhood first- friend died this past September! It grieves me that we were so out of touch--but he lived a continent away in Washington State, where he was busy raising his own family, practicing his law profession and ...

So the story on Happy Trails is that every street seems to be from Roy Rogers day. To get to our place you come in on Dale Evans to get to Mustang where we live for now. The street names are cute. You have Nellie Belle, Pinto, Buckhorn, Spur, you follow me here. Place is huge. Take long walks everyday to try to figure out the lay of the land. They have a town center that has its own post office. Swimming pools, 3 to be exact, hot tubs, laundry mats, and you can hear the pickle ball courts all day. You take your life into your hands when you walk, so many golf carts running around. Chris picked me up this afternoon and we went to Trader Joes. One more load of laundry and then a bath for Hailey.
Typing is getting blurry again. Time to sing that old tune Roy Rogers and Dale Evans used to sing at the end of their little half hour western long, long ago. "Happy trails to you, until we meet again, Happy trails to you, keep smiling until then".

Coming up as kids in our extremely rural home was a life event that I would not trade for anything!!.. Saturday mornings was a major event in our lives, mainly because there was no school, and the times we had a TV set, that day provided some good entertainment for me, Mike, Bruce, and Kathy!... At 6:30 was the Cisco Kid and Poncho, after that Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, then cartoons till noon, after that Bill Dance fishing, then, our favorite, Ga. Championship Wrestling!!!... We would watch as guys like Bob Armstrong, Big Bill Dromo, Mr. Wrestling 1 and 2, Thunderbolt Patterson, Tully Blanchard, Ric Flair, The Nature Boy, Abdula the Butcher, and many, many more of our heroes and villians would fight it out in the "Squared Circle"!!! Then , we would go out in the yard and mock, immitate, and improve on their moves! We would tag team, have cage matches in the chicken pen, which usualy got us in trouble and we would have to go without eggs for two or three days till the hens calmed down and started laying a ...

Devotion – Friday, June 21, 2013 GRANDDADDY’S BIG BARN “I go to prepare a place for you…” (John 14:1) As a little boy (yes, I was little once), I would spend many Sunday afternoons playing with my cousins in granddaddy’s big barn. We would build houses and forts with his bales of hay, playing cowboys and Indians. Our guns were made from a hickory tree; bows from branches of a “china berry” tree. We would play all afternoon climbing into the loft pretending to be Roy Rogers or Dale Evans. The door to the loft would swing open and we would swing on it daring each other to jump from the big barn. After much hesitation and others shouting “chicken”, we would jump from the high loft onto the hay below. In his big barn were many of his tools and an old John Deere tractor. We were always warned by granddaddy to stay off the tractor and never touch his tools. Yeah, right. We would sit on that tractor and pretend to plow acres and acres of farmland. On one side of that big barn was the ...
Love Roy Rogers I'm like the new Dale Evans the baddest cowgirl of the N.E
Last night my hubby & I ate at Escargots Heureux de Vous (Happy Snails to You). *Roy Rogers & Dale Evans roll over in graves*
Some years ago, 60 years and three months and 15 days ago to be precise, I was mixing a small batch of concrete between the tack shed and the chicken coop for a diorama I was building between the Pioneer Shed and the Neighbor's fence. A visitation came upon me in the form of The Widow Mrs. Johnson. She was the friendly, self appointed, neighborhood savior of small boys from the path to *** I don't know for certain why she had zeroed in on me, but I knew for a fact that she had. I don't know to this day what had piqued her interest in me, but it was an obvious, and apparently overwhelming interest. Perhaps she had overheard me arguing with the retired Lawyer John Lee over the color of my hat. Mr. Lee was a WW I veteran who had served in the Artillery. He contended my hat was red, like the one worn by Dale Evans, and I insisted it was brown in the fashion of all the faceless cowboys in the Roy Rogers movies. We never settled the issue, and I have worn Brown Hats ever since. This is a story about the ...
And now for "Muppet May" I'll write about the video release Country Music with the Muppets, which obviously spotlights the best Country Music numbers from The Muppet Show. The video is hosted by Rowlf at a barnyard video station, where he gets requests from many barnyard animals, including a hyperactive dog who asks off-the-wall questions that Rowlf happens to have the answers to in the form of a musical video clip. This video features clips with guest stars Loretta Lynn, Roy Clark, Mac Davis, Roger Miller, Crystal Gayle, John Denver, Roy Rogers, and Dale Evans. Highlights include "You Can't Rollerskate in a Buffalo Herd" with the Jugband, "Barnyard Boogie" with The Electric Mayhem, "Rocky Top" with Roy Clark, "Hard to be Humble" with Mac Davis, and a medley of Roger Miller's songs.
As every criminal investigator knows. the way to get a confession is through threats and bribes. As every politician knows, the way to get filthy rich is by towing the line of your major contributors! An Archduke is a rank below King but above Duke. For Americans who forget their British roots, a Duchess is the feminine of Duke and an Archduchess is the feminine of Archduke. On June 28! 1914 Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were visiting the wounded at Walter Reed in Sarajevo. Austria. Gavrilo Princip shot Sophie who died instantly, Then Gavrilo Princip shot Franz in the jugular vein and he died minutes later! Doctor Joshua Perper ruled the deaths accidental. These assassinations have gone down in history  victorias secret lingerie as "The shot heard round the world" because they were the trigger for World War 1! Take a trip down memory lane with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans!
I was asked if I watched the Emmy Awards and my answer was “I did not watch and never do watch the Oscars as most of the people in that parade sadly are dead men walking. I would not be surprised if they awarded Lucifer, Prince of Darkness an Oscar!” As a boy growing up, America was blessed with many actors who were decent human with values that served as role models for youth and were not just symbols of ‘sex, excess and glitter.’ Clayton Moore (The Lone Ranger,) Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans were patriots first and actors second along with many wonderful producers such as Frank Capra and Cecil B. DeMille. Many of the actors and baseball players like Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox left their lucrative jobs to serve in the Armed Forces in WWII and defend our country! Now Hollywood is mostly a vast wasteland of talent where people’s first priority is to make a fortune reading scripted lines in movies while their lives and behavior contradict nearly every ...
RODEO ROY - The 2013 annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo kicks off tomorrow with a parade in downtown Houston. Do you remember the star attraction sixty-one years ago?? If you guessed Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, you were right. That was a pretty safe guess as Roy and Dale appeared at the rodeo seven times between 1950 and 1972. I posted this pic of Roy on Trigger taken during the "Fat Stock Show Parade" in downtown Houston in '52 a year ago, but thought you might want to see Roy and Trigger once again at rodeo time.
I'm on a tear. "Merv Griffin performed his 1950 hit "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts," and a befuddled parade of decrepit screen stars emerged before Lowe took the stage as Snow White's "date." Wow, I thought seeing Vincent Price and Coral Browne, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Cyd Charisse and Tony Martin and Dorothy Lamour (okay, in fairness she did look befuddled) was amazing. These people got another few seconds in the limelight before shuffling off to Buffalo. Lucy too. The 89 Oscars were over the top and fun.
Jim Richardson When growing up in the 1950’s and ‘60’s life was so simple. We only had one TV, black and white, and we enjoyed our choice of ABC, CBS and NBC. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans started everything off after the Star Spangled Banner played on Saturday Mornings. Following them was Gene Autry, the singing cowboy, and Fury, the story of a horse and the boy who loved him. The morning was capped off by a good episode of Lassie. Mom cooked biscuits with tomato gravy every Saturday morning, along with eggs, bacon/sausage and orange juice. I was even introduced to coffee-milk. This was a life fit for a king, huh? It was an innocent time and a place I love to visit often in my mind and sometimes in my dreams. These thoughts came to me today while reading the Word early this morning. James said, “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy” – James 3:17. WOW!!! Reading th ...
Sally Star passed today. The Golden Nugget will miss her! Sally Starr - Blond cowgirl who hosted an afternoon children's program for Philadelphia station WFIL-TV (now WPVI) from the 1950s to 1971. In 1950 Sally Aline Mae Beller was spinning country tunes on radio when she was offered a 13-week contract as hostess to POPEYE THEATRE featuring Popeye cartoons and Three Stooges film shorts. The program lasted 22 years. Dressed in a western outfit studded with shiny silver stars, gun and holsters, "Our Gal Sal" entertained an ocean of Delaware Valley baby boomers every afternoon from 4PM to 6PM. Her classic opening line to all her faithful viewers was "Hope you feel as good as you look, 'cause you sure look good to your gal Sal." She closed with "May the Good Lord be blessing you and your Family, Bye for now!" Sally's show featured a wondrous array of guest visitors including the moronic Three Stooges, chicken guru Colonel Sanders, western stars Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Chuck Connors, and Gene Autry as well as ...
OMG, NNNnno. Now I have to hate Roy Rogers? *** you Dale Evans. Trigger, we were duped.
For all of y'all who got yore undies in a bunch over the fact that Roy Rogers was not a Texan (in a previous post) and began vehemently commenting this fact, please look at the caption. Dale Evans was a Texan by birth and to my knowledge is also buried in Texas, she is pictured along with her husband, Roy Rogers. That is all, y'all.

Roy Rogers’ Prayer The singing and cinematic superstar Roy Rogers and his wife, Dale Evans, were devoted Christians. Below is a prayer written by Roy for members of his Roy Rogers Riders Club. He asked that the prayer be said at the beginning of every meeting. Lord, I reckon I'm not much just by myself, I fail to do a lot of things I ought to do. But Lord, when trails are steep and passes high, Help me ride it straight the whole way through. And when in the falling dusk I get that final call, I do not care how many flowers they send, Above all else, the happiest trail would be, For You to say to me, "Let's ride, My Friend." Amen

Somewhere in this world there is a woman named Virginia. Maybe she is on FB and will se this.she will always be one of my Angels. When I was 6yrs. old I was in a Foster Home being run by mean people. Long story short: At night Virginia & I would open the couch into a bed...and I would cry and cry...and Virginia would tell me softly: "Don't cry...I entered our names in a contest and WHEN WE WIN we'll be adopted by Roy Rogers & Dale Evans." Oh the blessing of a human Angel giving a child hope. Thank You Virginia and thank you God for sending her .xoxoxo to you all
It was Roy Rogers' birthday so Dale Evens got him a new pair of finely tooled cowboy boots...Roy was going Mountain Lion hunting the next day and decided to wear his spiffy new boots. While trailing a lion he was attaced and the ficious critter clawed him up but most disturbingly it shredded his new boots. He was so distraught over the loss of the boots that Dale Evans plotted revenge and went looking for the animal. Sure enough she comes upon a lion and ropes and ties it up. Wanting to be sure she didn't harm the wrong one she took it back to the bunkhouse right next to Roy's bunk and says (while snapping her fingers) "Pardon me Roy...is this the cat that chewed your new shoes?"

Leave It To Beaver, Father Knows Best, The Flying Nun, Lassie, My Friend Flicka, Fury, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Hop-A-Long Cassidy, Rawhide, The Cisco Kid, Mighty Mouse, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Roadrunner and Wile Coyote, Ed Sullivan Show, Mitch Miller, Lawrence Welk, oh these are but a few of the great shows I watched on black and white TV while growing up, what are some of yours?
Day 22: I just had a cute little 96 year old lady yodel to me... Just like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans... Reminded me of watching the old westerns with my Dad while growing up... Today I am thankful for those little memories that touch the heart... Happy Thanksgiving!
Blame it on the generation gap, blame it on getting older ,but the Thanksgiving parade Ain`t what it used to be I did`nt see any of the horses. Remember when Roy Rogers and Dale Evans rode in the parade ? Where`s the nice music ? The old singers ? Everything is so modernistic, so new age. And tell people to shut up and get out of the way ! We want to see the floats, the bands, THE HORSES ! Not people sitting around talking about dumb stuff ! And no, I am not sorry about saying this. I am just reminiscent of the way things used to be. And missing people I love ! Bless everyone this Thanks Giving Day !!! And God be the guest at everyone`s table !

Wow! The good ole days before computers and cell phones. Seems life was simpler back then. A happy memory thinking back to Roy and Dale Evans and Trigger/Buttermilk (their horses for those who have no idea). Happy Trails to you all. Henri Pelletier.

Just saw Pat Boone and his "one and only" wife on the Jim Bakker TV show this morning. What a fabulous guy Pat is still, and as he said, "still has all his original teeth"! He still performs in Branson, MO with his daughter Debbie..in the Andy Williams theater. And right now it's the Christmas season there so the shows are all about Christmas. For those who don't know, Branson is a Christian run and owned city (not a city like NY, I call it a "country city") like Wheeling, WV is. The Boons are like the Paul Newmens: they still live in the first home they lived in when they first got married...some almost 60 years ago. They were good friends with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.and Pat's wife is the daughter of Red Foley, you West Virginians should remember him. Morningside (is what the compound/church/congragation is called) is alld ecorated for Christmas already. I'm so dissappointed that I was not able to leave for MO earlier before this storm hits late in the week. Driving up and down the Ozark moun ...
Happy Trails by Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, slide show.
From Kate Smith on Monday to Roy Rogers and Dale Evans today! Git Along Little Dogies!
Icky rainy day here. Looks so depressing, w/ the trees becoming more bare each day, & the beautiful fall colors disappear before our eyes. No ambition at all today!...so I'm parked in the recliner watching old Roy Rogers movie. Love those oldies!...well, mostly the horses in them, but RR was sure great man & cowboy. His & Dale Evan's old movies so cool! Yes, there were alot of fistfights (& obviously faked!)...but always had a lesson in them. Mostly that being a good person, honest, helpful to others in need, etc...qualities that sometimes seem the exception in today's world rather than the norm of that time. Still have headache...seems everyday now I get at least 1/day...but know it's from disc in neck, & once epidural done on 11/13 that should solve the problem. Really stinks getting "older" sometimes, doesn't it?!...but none of us get younger. Altho, even tho we have to grow older, doesn't mean we have to grow up! Keep as "young at heart" as you can!
Roy Rogers and Trigger, there was also Dale Evans and Buttermilk, and Pat Brady and Nellie Bell the jeep and the dog, Bullet! I loved them!
The Roy Rogers Museum in Branson, Mo. has closed it's doors. It went up for auction when it stopped making a profit. Happy Trails, to the king of the cowboys, Roy Rogers. Trigger was auctioned off along with Nellybelle, Pictures of Bullet, Dale Evans wardrobe, Dale Evans horse Buttermilk . So sad! End of the trail, for Happy Trails!
Amy Lynn Van Niekerk shared the following link: Evans & Roy Rogers singing Happy Trails -- I hope you guys have a safe trip. Good Luck in your compition! :-)
Yep, Dale Evans aka Mrs. Roy Rodgers. She wrote a book many years ago titled “Angel Unaware.” It was the story of their little girl born with Down’s Syndrome and other problems. She didn’t live long and the story is told from the child’s point of view from heaven. The book was read to my school class when I was in the 4th grade. I’ve never forgotten the story. This was in the 1950s and for kids of that era Roy Rogers & Dale Evans were big in the movies and on TV. I think we, especially when young, sometimes think the lives of celebrity’s seem enchanted and devoid of pain, but no life is without struggle.
Oct 31st is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dale Evans, born Frances Octavia Smith in Uvalde Tx, my home town. She stayed for few yrs with her grandparents whose house was couple miles from where I grew up then she left for out of State with her parents. She eloped at 14 and Roy Rogers was her 4th husband. They starred in 4 movies together before they married on New Yrs eve 1947. She passed in 2001.
*October 18, 1968 – Roy Rogers and Dale Evans hosted the CMA Awards. The show was videotaped at the Ryman Auditorium to be aired at a later date. Glen Campbell was named CMA Entertainer of the Year, and Bob Wills was inducted into the CMHF.
I live right near "Apple Valley" where Roy Rogers & Dale Evans are from. Been to there home for a bible study a few years ago.
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were my early childhood heros. Later I named my palimino horse Trigger after Roy's horse.
Nothin like a blast from the past of my youth with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and their old reliable sidekick, Walter Brennan. I remember this like it was yesterday.
For all of you that have not heard this one... There was this western town whose ranchers were being bothered by a cougar. This cougar had attacked the ranchers livestock on many occassions. The ranchers in this town hired the famous Roy Rogers to lead a posse to track down this cougar and kill him. Roy lead this posse wearing his brand new alligator skin boots. he had just acquired them as was very proud of the way they looked. After tracking the cougar for a number of days, they finally came upon him. Roy took a shot but missed, letting the cougar get away. That night the posse set up camp. While everyone was sleeping, the cougar attacked the campsite, but was chased off without anyone getting hurt. Unfortunately in the foray, the cat did destroy Roy alligator skin boots. Roy was very upset about losing his new boots. He rode back to town (which was painful without boots), got an old pair of boots, and went out after the cougar by himself. After a few days of tracking, he caught up with the cougar. He p ...
My hero! Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were such giving people and Christian role models.
Had a wonderful time last night with my grandaughter, Juliana, at the Baltimore Symphony. "The Golden Age of Black and White" Theme the 1950's, TV theme songs from early TV shows, a salute to the "girl singers", Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, Patti Page, Judy Garland, etc. The theme from "A Summer Place", Unchained Melody, song done by Nat Cole, a salute to Presley, ended with a salute to a member of the orchestra who died recently and Marvin Hamlisch who also died by singing the Roy Rogers, Dale Evans theme, "Happy Trails". For those who don't remember any of this missed some great music
Anybody know what Roy Rogers amd Dale Evans theme song was besides Charlie?
Check out this great listen on Audible.com. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans are Hollywood icons and represent a time when life seemed simpler, purer, and a bit more marvelous. The 100th anniversaries of Roy and Dale's births were marked in 2011 and 2012. In celebration of their vivacious spirits, Revel...
Roy Rogers (with back up from wife Dale Evans and their daughter Linda) sing "THE CIRCUIT RIDING PREACHER". From the LP "Jesus Loves Me".
Interesting that Roy Rogers' Bacon number is just 3 (and Dale Evans' is only 2!)
Another good night last night at the Vine Hotel. Not everyone dressed up in their country gear but I guess it's not for everyone. It was great to see Jake Sinclair making an appearance there. I cloesd the show with Roy Rogers & Dale Evans classic with 'Happy Trails' which ended beautifully. Great to see Karen & Dave in their hillbilly outfits. Dave remind me of 'Stringbean' with his farmer's overalls on. Of course Stringbean was a banjo player way back in the 40's and 50's I think originated in America. I did a concert today at St Catherine's Hostel here in Wangaratta which was enjoyed by all.
I would that there were more film makers like Roy Rogers (Born: Leonard Sly) and Dale Evans (Born: Frances Smith) with characters like Gabby Hayes and movies ranging from Texas ranger westerns to science fiction about Uranium mines. We could also use a lot more of the Will Rogers kind of thinking in our country, now-a-days, as well.
Dale Evans and Roy Rogers (Western Movie Stars and famous married couple) (
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Houston, 1952. ...used to watch them on tv every Saturday morning!
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans made numerous appearances at the Fat Stock Parade and show or as it is now called Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in the 50s...I think I saw them every time...thanks Mama!
Thirty six years after Apple Valley waved goodbye to the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum, one local businessman is bringing those memories back to town.
Just watched an old movie of Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Pat Brady, Boy that Buttermilk is a smart horse :). He led them to Dale, Seeing it really brings back good memories .
you want BTR to show up at your birthday party... I'd much rather have Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. ;-)
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans are even bigger heroes in my book now!
Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and their little girl who had Down Syndrome.
The irony-when Rocky and I were lil' we played Roy Rogers and Dale Evans with our still life long friend Camilla-they were Roy and Dale-I was of course Nellie Bell the jeep? and of course I am still the road warrior-but for my son to meet a gal from the home of Roy and Dale-life has a path full of surprises-the kids are off to the lake with the doc-they are hoping for the last trip
I added a video to a playlist Dale Evans & Roy Rogers

Watchting Cowboy and the Senorita; not only my favorite western but my favorite Roy Rogers and Dale Evans film :')
If you could be any old time TV cowboy, who would you be? Hopalong Cassidy? Wild Bill Hickok? Zorro? Roy Rogers? Gene Autry? Bat Masterson? Wyatt Earp? Cisco Kid? Or? And for the ladies--Dale Evans? Annie Oakley? Or?
I think of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans when I look at your pic!! Just love it!!! Wish I had remembered to smell him!
I am at the Roy Rogers and Dale Evan's Festival in his boyhood home, Portsmouth, Ohio. Mostly here to hang with his daughter, Dodie, and catch up but the festival is pretty fun too!
Roy Rogers was a wonderful human being,” stated Dale Evans. “What a blessing to have shared my life together with him for almost 51 years. To say I will miss him is a gross understatement. He was truly the ‘King of the Cowboys’ in my life. He loved his God, his family and his country. He was a real hero to thousands of people and thank you God, for the years we had together.”
Victoria and Jerrod are taking me trail riding at West Branch to test my horse out. Or should I say Dale Evans and Roy Rogers are taking me but I am driving lol.

From episode 322, Roy Rogers & Dale Evans. Dale sings with some babies. The Muppets are property of the Henson company.
A few days ago I was watching a TV minister complain that crime and criminals are the result of the ban on prayer in school (he assuredly meant to say 'organized prayer in public school', but the difference is unrecognizable to many people). He also commented that a few decades ago people were more moral. Today I read that in the 1920's Dale Evans (later wife of movie/TV cowboy Roy Rogers) had a baby at age 14 following a pre-marital love affair, lied about her age so that her teen-aged son could be passed off as her brother to avoid scandal, and that she and Roy were married to other people when they met on a movie set and had an extra-marital love affair. She divorced her third husand to marry Roy after his wife died. Sounds so modern day.
Never realized how much Dale Evans looked like Dwight Eisenhower.

Well, the economy is saved! Our brilliant president is going to extend the Bush tax cuts and help out the middle class. That's me, and I am elated, except for one small detail. The 2% that won't get the tax cut will include LOTS of small businesses, who will be unable to expand, maintain, or hire new people. Oops, there goes the economy again. Now, I am no genius where economics is concerned; I can barely balance the checkbook. But this guy went to Harvard, and he STILL doesn't get it. Who in the name of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans are his econmomic advisors? The Marx Brothers? Sorry, I am able to stifle these rants most of the time, but this had to come out or the top of my head would have blown off.
Hey Dude!! When I was 10 years old I had a toy gun, a cowboy hat and a pretty little cousin to play Roy Rogers and Dale Evans with♥

hey ,I just read where in 2009,they closed the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Museum. I started to cry.I visited the museum when it was in Calif. It brought back a lot of memories .they moved it to Branson Mo.and then they closed it.they auctioned off all the stuff there.Trigger ,the beautiful horse that Roy rode ,Bullit the dog ,Buttermilk ( Dale's horse ) and Nelliebelle, the Jeep.was sold. that was a part of a good childs past.I can't help but cry.
I put some old cowboy songs with Gene Autry, Dinah Shore , Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and Tex Ritter.
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans on What's My Line. Episode originally aired on 26 September 1954.
loved Roy Rogers as a kid & idolized Dale Evans - I read her book as a teenager "Angels Aware" and little did I know that at the age of 26 I'd have a son die & would pull from her writings to gain acceptance of the fact that children die! It saddens me that the museum has closed and auctioned off a part of history! They always had a moral to their shows and positive influence on a generation!
Hope I am not going to be shocked at the movie tonite the way I was when I went to "Broke back Mountain" a few years ago which I thought was a cowboy's love story(like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans right-NOT)..Heading to "Magic Mike" at midnite

I'm glad our grandchildren will enjoy the horse. We are also getting a huge puppy and we have a new kitten hopefully they will play together I'm not sure what happened to my T.
Did you ever read the book, "Angel Unawares"? It is the story of the girl born to Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. She only lived a few years but this child touched so many lives. The next time you see a person with Down Syndrome say a prayer for the parents who gave life and love to this very "special" person. Years ago Down Syndrome children did not live long. Now many live into old age. Hopefully, mothers and fathers and siblings make provisions for their continued care.

Just watched the movie "Yellow Rose of Texas", starring Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. This movie came out in 1944. The movie featured the singing group "Sons of the Pioneers"...The bass player in the group reminded me of an actor who had a recurring role in the TV series 'Beverly Hillbillies', known as Shorty Kellums. Remember him?. Actor 'Shug Fisher' (a member of the original 'Sons of the Pioneers', and Shorty Kellums, one and the same. Amazing what you pick up when watching old movies. :)

In opposition to today, yesterday was truly fun. Alice Richardson Irwin and I provided the entertainment at a farewell party for one of our co-workers. We sang "Happy Trails" in two part harmony. Alice provided the harmony. All I had to do was stay on the main melody. We'll provide details on where to purchase the DVD, CD, T shirts and other memorabilia at a later date. Hollywood is really going to be sorry they didn't discover us 30 years ago. The departing employee is somewhere around 25 years old. Some of us in the office were speculating that the departing co-worker may not have been familiar with "Happy Trails", Dale Evans, or even Roy Rogers. I asked her later in the day, and of course she had never heard that song before, but she really liked it.

VIP Britt A.- Memory Trail- Summer mornings I would put on my cowboy hat, gun & holster & grab the broom to be my horse & at 10 years old, I'd ride the range in my yard. I could be Tex Ritter, Roy Rogers or The Lone Ranger. The only thing is I was a fat kid with horn rimmed glasses, I knew I didn't look like those guys but I had a good imagination. My sister Renee put on her cowgirl suit & grab her broom & she could be Dale Evans or Annie Oakley. I'd tell her, today I'm Roy Rogers & she'd say, but he isn't fat with horn rimmed glasses. We'd ride the back yard looking for crooks, cattle, etc. You know Peeps, I can't ride that range anymore, people would see me do that now, I'd get locked up, but in my mind I can ride it forever.

Went to the mountains yesterday, lots of snow and people out enjoying it, but warm enough not to wear a jacket. Saw Roy Rogers and Dale Evans graves, big statue of Trigger when we entered the cemetary. Having a funeral yesterday so could not go in and see the chapel they built, Roy was my hero when I was young. The mountails were beautiful. Leaving to go camping tomorrow morning.
