Seems incredible that philanthropist, entrepreneur and Temple alumnus,Lewis Katz, died in a plane crash, last night. He and business partner, Gerry Lenfest, just bought The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly. Com last week. They made it clear that they were intent on restoring these community assets to their original luster. He made the single largest gift to Temple University, in Temple's history: $25 million. He was a person of honorable reputation, who spent much of his life supporting others in pursuit of their dreams.RIP.
To the extended Katz, Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com families, deepest condolences on the tragic passing of Lewis Katz, a man of vision and a true passion for the City of Philadelphia. R.I.P., Mr. Katz.
We are very sorry to learn that Palm Beach resident Lewis Katz and six others were killed last night when a Gulfstream 4 jet crashed on takeoff from a private airfield near Boston.Mr Katz owned the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Daily News among other holdings.he formerly owned the New York Nets and the New Jersey Devils pro sports teams.last year Mr. Katz rented most of The Breakers Hotel for a celebration of his son Drew's wedding.condolences to all in this very sorry accident

Michael Vick - QB - Eagles An NFL source "familiar with (Michael Vick's) thinking" tells the Philadelphia Inquirer he's unwilling to restructure his contract. If true, it would leave the Eagles with precious little leverage if they decided to explore Vick's trade market, and would increase the pressure to release him before $3 million of his 2013 salary becomes guaranteed three days after the Super Bowl. Currently due $15.5 million in 2013 and in line for a solid payday if he hits the open market, Vick's reluctance to renegotiate is understandable. Unless the Eagles hire read-option maestro Chip Kelly, Sunday should be Vick's final game in an Eagles uniform. Source: Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News

i think it is a terrible thing to die alone and no one notices you have died. I just found out by accident that my ex wife (Penelope Brace) died 6-28-2012 apparently alone. I was unable to find out where or the cause of death or even where she died. I searched the Obits in the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News to no avail. Sad day indeed, considering all she did for the Womens gain for equality in the Philadelphia Police Department, I wouldn't wish it on anyone or even an ex wife to die alone and I did share 23 years with before the bitter divorce in 1991. Rest in Peace Penny
