Please read the below mentioned facts SOME ASPECTS OF THE FREEDOM STRUGGLE OUR HISTORIANS HAVE NEVER TOLD US. I Bet You Were Never Told that It was Emperor Aurangzeb who first asked the East India Company to quit India in 1686 Surat! The first war against the British was fought almost 200 years before independence The Battle of Plassey, wherein Nawab Sirajuddawla of Bengal was treacherously defeated by the British in 1757! The first signs of victory against the British were seen in Mysore where Nawab Hyder Ali first waged war against the British in 1782. He was succeeded by his son, Tipu Sultan who again fought them in 1791 and was eventually treacherously defeated and martyred in 1799. Tipu Sultan was the first General to use missiles in warfare! The Mujahid Movement was active during 1824 and 1831 under the leadership of Syed Ahmad Shaheed and his two disciples and they were successful in liberating the North-west province from British authority. Syed Ahmad Shaheed was nominated Khalifa, but the freedom ...
Why this discrimination against Hindus? Apart from anti-secular and discriminatory governmental control of all prominent Hindu temples (whereas no Christian church or Muslim mosque has been touched by government control), another issue tormenting Hindus and demolishing Hinduism is the disability heaped on Hindu society by discriminatory Article 30 of the Constitution of India. Unbearable burden For Hindus, discriminatory government control of prominent Hindu temples and religious and educational institutions spells injustice, despair, deprivation, and an unbearable burden. Two provisions of Indian Constitution, Articles 26 and 30, have been misused by the government to appropriate Hindu temples, and to deny Hindus the same freedom of running their educational institutions given to non-Hindu (minority) communities. As per Article 30(1) of Constitution, “All minorities, whether based on religion or language, shall have the right to establish and administer educational institutions of their choice.” Arti ...

So, I am giving u a prayer request. Pls pray that God shld intervene and dual ideology in Nigeria constitution be dismantled. It is only when we stand on seection 38 dat we can build a society that is founded on liberty, justice, equity and fairness. Shariah is d reason why this crisis is going on, wt BH killing flangrantly. Why d killing? They want shariah. Why do they want shariah? That is what is in d constitution. Untill shariah is removed, d problem cannot be solved. The problem is actually not corruption, but is just the symptom. The real p ...

POLITICAL MOBILISATION OF MUSLIMS IN INDIA – CHANGING PATTERN (Part-II) Irfan Engineer In the previous part, we discussed that after independence, the Muslim leaders within the Congress Party mobilized the Muslims initially on the trope of religio-cultural space. However, as the country had been partitioned along communal lines, Hindu nationalists would raise the spectre of India turning into an Islamic state even with minor attempts to secure cultural space for Muslims. Securing religio-cultural space for Muslims was proclaimed as encroachment on “Hindu” cultural space and threat to existence of Hindu culture itself. This led to unprecedented escalation in communal violence in the 1980s. Congress’s failure to protect Babri Masjid signified that even the religio-cultural space was not secure and Muslims drifted away from the Congress. The regional parties mobilized the community on the trope of security; however they too did not see the community as diverse interests and diverse culture. Security ...
"We have recently tripled our development support to Nepal, in which, one of our sectors is strengthening Nepal´s democracy,” said Rensje Teerink, EU Ambassador to Nepal, while launching the new publication “Analytical Report on Media Monitoring of Constituent Assembly Elections, 2013”. The report is about performance of Nepali media and their coverage during the second CA election. Election Commission of Nepal prepared this document with the support of UNDP’s Electoral Support Project (ESP) and funds from the European Union, DFID, Denmark and Norway. The Chief Election Commissioner said that it is an important document for upcoming elections. "We will keep it as an important document," Upreti said, adding, "Since media do have their own ethics and are becoming professional, we hope that it will not be necessary to conduct such kind of media monitoring after conducting other five elections in future." Came across beautiful lines by the framers of our Constitution who visualized the future and laid foundations of our democracy in a very sound manner. “If the people who are elected are capable and men of character and integrity, then they would be able to make the best even of a defective Constitution. If they are lacking in these, the Constitution cannot help the country. After all, a Constitution like a machine is a lifeless thing. It acquires life because of the men who control it and operate it, and India needs today nothing more than a set of honest men who will have the interest of the country before them…It requires men of strong character, men of vision, men who will not sacrifice the interests of the country at large for the sake of smaller groups and areas…We can only hope that the country will throw up such men in abundance.” - Dr. Rajendra Prasad,President, Constituent Assembly of India, 26th November, 1949 before putting the motion for passing of the Constitution on the floor.
Eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani today said Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir, was part of the Constitution's basic structure which "nobody can touch" and claimed BJP was now "quiet" on it as he had explained its importance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Article 370 is a part of the basic structure of the Constitution because we have incorporated it in accordance of the wishes of the then Constituent Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir. "It is now a final article which nobody can touch. It is the understanding of the Kashmir Committee that this kind of a thing (repealing of Article 370) is out of question," Jethmalani told reporters here. However, the Rajya Sabha MP said that the successive state governments in Jammu and Kashmir never raised any objections to modifications made to the Article from time to time. "There were no objections from J&K government ever to any modifications on Article 370. If you do not like any amendments, vomit it out, but democratically," he said. The forme ...
A rare documentary on the pre liberated Bangladesh. 21st March, (1971) Storyline: In Dhaka, Pakistan's President Yahya Khan and East Pakistani leader Sheikh Mujibar Rahman are trying to end the month-long constitutional crisis that is threatening to tear Pakistan apart. Sheikh Mujib's Awami League won a majority of seats to the Constituent Assembly after the December 1970 elections, but his constitutional proposals are unacceptable to West Pakistan's minority party, led by Zulfiqar Bhutto. Mujib has organised a general strike in support of far-reaching autonomy for East Pakistan; many of his followers would like to see him declare unilateral independence.

INTRODUCTION Development of Political Institutions to the French Revolution Consider a number of very different scenarios that have been playing out at the beginning of the second decade of the twenty-first century. In Libya in 2013, a militia armed with a panoply of heavy weapons briefly kidnapped the country’s Prime Minister, Ali Zeidan, demanding that his government provide them with back pay. Another militia has shut down much of the country’s oil production, which is virtually the only source of export earnings. Other militias were earlier responsible for the killing of U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens in Benghazi, and for shooting dozens of demonstrators in the capital, Tripoli, who protested their continuing occupation of the city. These militias were formed in various parts of the country in opposition to Libya’s longtime dictator, Muammar Qaddafi, whom they ousted, with significant help from NATO , in the first year of the Arab Spring in 2011. The protests against authoritarian governmen ...

SC to revisit its May 13 verdict The Supreme Court today agreed to review its May 13 verdict on appointment of 26 members of the Constituent Assembly (CA) to be nominated by the Cabinet within 15 days. A three-member full bench issued an order to review the case on the ground that the 15 days’ deadline was against Article 63 (3) of the Interim Constitution and it would amount to encroachment of the jurisdiction of the Council of Ministers. The National Portal of India tells us that the song Vande Mataram has an equal status with Jana-gana-mana - our national anthem. It further states ... 'On January 24, 1950, the President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad came up with a statement in the Constituent Assembly, "the song Vande Mataram, which has played a historic part in the struggle for Indian freedom, shall be honoured equally with Jana Gana Mana and shall have equal status with it."' Is it probably time we considered the possibility of moving to a new, more fitting anthem that was actually written for our country, instead of one that was allegedly written in praise of the Royal family of England?

Article 370 has played no less a part in preventing J&K from becoming an integral part of the Indian Union. Not many people are aware as how and why this Article was formulated and included in the Indian Constitution despite grave misgivings of Sardar Patel and indeed a large number of the members of Congress Working Committee and Constituent Assembly. Article 370 was worked out in late 1947 between Sheikh Abdullah, who had by then been appointed Prime Minister of J&K by the Maharaja and Nehru, who kept the Kashmir portfolio with himself and kept Sardar Patel, the home minister, away from his legitimate function. Hence Nehru is answerable to all acts of commission and omission, consequences of which we are suffering till date as far as J&K is concerned.
NEHRU'S CLEAR POLITICAL DRAMA on ARTICLE 370 BY MISUSING THE NAME OF SARADAR PATEL: Gopalaswamy Ayyangar has been especially asked to help in Kashmir matters. Both for this reason and because of his intimate knowledge and experience of Kashmir, he had to be given full latitude. I really do not know where the States Ministry (Sardar Patel’s ministry) comes into the picture except that it should be kept informed for the steps taken. All this was done at my instance and I do not propose to abdicate my functions in regard to matters for which I consider myself responsible. May I say that the manner of approach to Gopalaswamy was hardly in keeping with the courtesy due to a colleague.” It speaks volumes of Patel’s loyalty to a colleague that despite his own and others misgivings, he managed to convince the members of Constituent Assembly and Congress Party Executive. But to V Shankar he said “Jawaharlal Royega”. The Sardar thereupon resigned and the matter fell in Gandhiji’s lap to bring the two co ...

Learn About the Indian Flag What is a Flag? The word flag is of Teutonic (German) origin and probably came into use around the 15th and 16th centuries in various northern European languages signifying a piece of cloth, bunting or a similar material displaying the insignia of a community, an armed force, an office or an individual. A flag in a classical sense is usually, but not always oblong and attached to a staff or halyard. In the early days of history, the flags besides being objects of worship and reverence, also served as rallying points for organizing armies and for identification of friend and foe during battles. For this purpose flag bearers were used in wars to give direction to soldiers. History of the Indian Flag To select a flag for Independent India an ad hoc committee was created by the Constituent Assembly on 23 June 1947. The committee headed by Rajendra Prasad and included Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Sarojini Naidu, C. Rajagopalachari, K. M. Munshi and B.R. Ambedkar as its members. The comm ...
Every Elected Representative and even an avg Indian should watch the Constituent Assembly debates documentary to understand our Constitution
Omar Abdullah says either Article 370 stays or Kasmir will not be with India. And then he quotes some innuendos about Constituent Assembly to justify his stand. By the way, if it matters to anyone, Article 370 was vehemently opposed by BR Ambedkar, a key member of the constituent assembly. Ambedkar's resistance to Sheikh Abdullah regarding article 370 was - you want India to protect your borders, you want Indian soldiers to die for you, you want India to build roads, other infrastructure for you but the govt of India should have limited or no power and Indian people to have no rights. Ambedkar refused to be part of article 370. It was only because Nehru had given a promise to Sheikh Abdullah for article 370, Sardar Patel helped pass the article 370. No wonder Omar Abdullah considers Kashmir to be his ancestral property. After all it was gifted to his father by his father and God only knows why Nehru had to promise special status to Sheikh Abdullah.
Mr. Omar Abdullah has dared, challenged and criticised the abrogation of Article 370. May I remind Mr. Omar Abdullah and his father Mr. Farooq Abdullah that they were appointed only as INTERIM caretakers of the state of Kashmir. Mr. Omar Abdullah's ancestor - Mr. Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, the founder of National Congress (NC) was pardoned by the then Ruler of Kashmir - Maharaja Hari Singh and made him the 'INTERIM' caretaker of the princley state of Kashmir during the accession of Kashmir and till the Constituent Assembly was formed. Mr. Sheikh Abdullah wrote a letter dated 26 September 1947 seeking pardon from Maharaja Hari SIngh and I quote, " Inspite of what has happened in the past, I assure Your Highness that myself and my party have never harboured any sentiment of disloyalty towards Your Highness's person, throne or dynasty...I assure Your Highness the fullest and loyal support of myself and my organisation...Before I close this letter I beg to assure your Highness once again of my steadfast loyalt ...
Background and election The Constituent Assembly was set up while India was still under British rule, following negotiations between Indian leaders and members of the 1946 Cabinet Mission to India from the United Kingdom. The provincial assembly elections had been conducted early in 1946. The Constituent Assembly members were elected to it indirectly by the members of these newly elected provincial assemblies, and initially included representatives for those provinces which came to form part of Pakistan, some of which are now within Bangladesh. The Constituent Assembly had 299 representatives, including nine women. The Interim Government of India was formed on 2 September 1946 from the newly elected Constituent Assembly. The Congress held a large majority in the Assembly, with 69 percent of all of the seats, while the Muslim League held almost all of the seats reserved in the Assembly for Muslims. There were also some members from smaller parties, such as the Scheduled Caste Federation, the Communist Part ...

The search for Jinnah's vision of Pakistan Sixty-five years after the death of its founding father, Pakistanis are still searching for Mohammed Ali Jinnah's vision for the country - and a missing historical speech. During much of its existence, Pakistanis have been encouraged to believe that Mr Jinnah created Pakistan in the name of Islam as a theocratic state. Others have disagreed, arguing the founding father wanted a Muslim-majority but secular and progressive country. The debate over the two competing and contradictory visions has intensified in recent years as the country reels from growing Islamic extremism and Taliban militancy. At the heart of this debate are some public addresses of Mr Jinnah given around the time of the partition of India in 1947. . The archives of state-owned broadcaster, Radio Pakistan, also contain cranky old audio recordings of most of those speeches, except for one: his address to the Constituent Assembly in the port city of Karachi on 11 August 1947, three days before the ...

People say it was written by Ambedkar because he was chairman. Prominent jurists like Alladi Krishnaswamy Iyer, Benegal Narsing Rau and K. M. Munshi, Ganesh Mavlankar were also members of the Assembly. Sarojini Naidu, Hansa Mehta, Durgabai Deshmukh, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur and Vijayalakshmi Pandit were important women members. EXCERPTS OF SPEECH OF DR. B. R. AMBEDKAR DELIVERED AT THE TIME OF INTRODUCING Draft Constitution ON NOVEMBER 04th 1948, ON THE ISSUE OF SAFEGUARD TO MINORITIES. "The Draft Constitution is also criticised because of the safeguards it provides for minorities. In this, the Drafting Committee has no responsibility. It follows the decisions of the Constituent Assembly. Speaking for myself, I have no doubt that the Constituent Assembly has done wisely in providing such safeguards for minorities as it has done. In this country both the minorities and the majorities have followed a wrong path. It is wrong for the majority to deny the existence of minorities. It is equally wrong for the minorities to perpetuate themselves. A solution must be found which will serve a double purpose. It must recognize the existence of the minorities to start with. It must also be such that it will enable majorities and minorities to merge someday into one. The solution proposed by the Constituent Assembly is to be welcomed because i ...

Tundu Lissu Renowed lawyer, Prof Issa Shivji has been faulted by several of his colleagues of the Constituent Assembly for allegedly advocating a two tire government structure a move they say is against what he stands for and also contravenes his various publications regarding the Union. The criticism follows his remarks made on Sunday while presenting a paper at the National Youth Symposium held in Dar es Salaam where he is quoted as having said ‘if the constituent assembly will endorse the proposed Draft Constitution without any changes, there will be no Union.’ Speaking in a press conference yesterday in Dodoma, Tundu Lissu said the veteran legal expert has recanted what he seemed to stand for in his previous publications: ‘Africanism or Pragmatism’ and ‘Tanzania: The Legal Foundation of the Union’. Lissu further said in Prof Shivji’s publication of 2008, the legal expert wrote that the Union was not agreed upon by both sides and it was on that ground he has been arguing against it. “I ...

Colonized by Spain in 1522, Venezuela became one of the first Spanish American colonies to declare independence in 1811. During the 19thcentury, Venezuela suffered political turmoil and dictatorship and until well into the 20th century it was dominated by regional military strongmen. However, since 1958, Venezuela has had democratic governments. The economic upheavals of the 1980’s and 1990’s led to a political turmoil in Venezuela, with hundreds of deaths in the 1989 Caracazo riots; two attempted coups in 1992; and, the impeachment of President Carlos Andrés Pérez for embezzlement of public funds in 1993. The 1998 saw the election of former career officer, Hugo Chávez, as President and the launch of the Bolivarian Revolution, beginning with a 1999 Constituent Assembly to write a new Constitution of Venezuela. Amendment of Article 370 Under Article 370, consent of state legislature and the constituent assembly of the state are also required to amend Article 370. Now the question arises, how can we amend Article 370 when the Constituent Assembly of the state no longer exists? Or whether it can be amended at all? Some jurists say it can be amended by an amendment Act under Article 368 of the Constitution and the amendment extended under Article 370. But it is still a mooted question.

MUSEVENI'S JATT TERRORISES UGANDA As the NRA became deeply engaged in the Congo, the ADF suspended its field combat operations. Instead it focussed on urban terrorism. Several incidents of explosive attacks using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were witnessed. Tumukunde who had been the NRA's Chief of Personnel and Administration (CPA) was appointed the new Director of Military Intelligence (DMI). To retain the title of Chief, he renamed the DMI as Chieftancy of Military Intelligence (CMI). Among his immediate tasks was to tackle the explosions in Kampala. This was a matter that would have been handled by ISO and the regular Police because it fell under internal security. Museveni who prefers a militaristic approach to all aspects of public management, fully facilitated CMI to take over as the lead state Intelligence agency. With all the resources at Tumukunde's disposal, he built capacity to break into the network of the ADF urban Hit Squad. Using the vast amount of financil resources, ADF operatives ...
On 12 March 1949, the first constituent assembly of Pakistan passed the Objectives Resolution which was proposed by the first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan, proclaimed that the future constitution of Pakistan would not be modeled entirely on a European pattern, but on the ideology and democratic faith of Islam. The legislative elections in 1954 saw the Awami League coming to power and its leader Huseyn Suhrawardy becoming country's first Bengali Prime Minister. Promulgation of Constitution in 1956 lead to Pakistan declaring itself Islamic republic (official name) with the adoption of parliamentary democratic system of government.
