The president who campaigned for a more “open government” and “full disclosure” will not unseal his medical records, his school records, his birth records or his passport records. He will not release his Harvard records, his Columbia College records, or his Occidental College records—he will not even release his Columbia College thesis. All his legislative records from the Illinois State Senate are missing and he claims his scheduling records during those State Senate years are lost as well. In addition, no one can find his school records for the elite K-12 college prep school, Punahou School, he attended in Hawaii. What is he hiding? Well, for starters, some of these records will shed light on his citizenship and birth. For example, Obama’s application to Punahou School – now mysteriously missing – would likely contain a birth certificate. And, according to attorney Gary Kreep, “his Occidental College records are important as they may show he attended there as a foreign exchange student ...

At the start of this page..I told you I was going to tell you everything from the beginning. And I am going to tell you everything... just so you know that Shelby wasn't the only thing Nick and I had to deal with. It will make since why I am doing it in the end. When Shelby was about 2 and 1/2 we decided nothing is changing and I can't wait for a miracle... so time to go back to school. So August of 2010 I enrolled at Columbia College at lake Ozark with a handful of prereqs left to take and the goal to get in there nursing program as soon as I could. Your probably thinking.. why in the world would I go to school 200 miles away from home. Two reasons... one. my dad retired and my parents moved there when their house sold and my dad one day said find a school down here and we can watch the kids ( I seriously thought he was joking and then I found an accelerated program 10 minutes from my farm house) the second reason. the only person able to handle Shelby at this time, besides Nick and I was my mom...she ha ...
by Thomas Commerford Martin   BEFORE proceeding to study the three Tesla lectures here presented, the reader may find it of some assistance to have his attention directed to the main points of interest and significance therein. The first of these lectures was delivered in New York, at Columbia College, before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, May 20, 1891. The urgent desire expressed immediately from all parts of Europe for an opportunity to witness the brilliant and unusual experiments with which the lecture was accompanied, induced Mr. Tesla to go to England early in 1892, when he appeared before the Institution of Electrical Engineers, and a day later, by special request, before the Royal Institution. His reception was of the most enthusiastic and flattering nature on both occasions. He then went, by invitation, to France, and repeated his novel demonstrations before the Societe Internationale des Electriciens, and the Societe Frangaise de Physique. Mr. Tesla returned to America in the ...
Hello All! How have you all done during the snow storms? We ended up with around 15 inches, I would guess. Were you out of electricity? We, of course, lost electric on baking day. Thanks to all of you understanding souls who leveled an amazing amount of grace when we were unable to fill orders at the last minute, we are thankful for each of you. We are hoping that this week brings a thaw and our plans for spring can resume. We will be baking the usual, 100% Whole Wheat with Flax and Millet and Half Wheat/Half White Cinnamon Swirl. Remember that each loaf is $4 or 3 loaves for $10. Please place your order by simply replying to this status update. We are officially out of Hugh's Tamales (for very good reason, they are so yummy) but still have a few Jamie's Jams and a few small bunches of dried herbs from Full Plate Farm. I have a conference this week so if you plan to come pick bread up on Tuesday evening please arrive after 7pm. Delivery at Columbia College will remain the same: Wednesday at 8am. ...
Today Deryk D. In spite of me and not at all because of me, God continues to open doors!

Oscar Thoughts, Part Two: -Best Cinematography: Roger Deakins has earned a lot of good will over the years with stellar jobs shooting movies for the Coen Brothers, among others, and SKYFALL had some amazingly framed shots, particularly all the scenes set in Shanghai, but Columbia College grad Janusz Kaminski of LINCOLN is a legacy guy that is basically entitled to an automatic Oscar win every time he picks up a camera for Steven Spielberg. Snubs would include the picturesque and even epic feel that THE MASTER and MOONRISE KINGDOM’s cinematography had. Even ZERO DARK THIRTY had some pretty good camera work that deserves recognition. -Costume Design: AKA the award for good, not great, period films. This award could go to any of the non-Snow White films that were nominated, but probably LINCOLN, because it’s one of those films that’s gonna win a bunch of lesser Oscars to make up for lack of wins in the bigger categories. *THE IMPOSSIBLE can make a good case of being snubbed in the following categories. ...

"We are whirling through endless space with an inconceivable speed, all around us everything is spinning, everything is moving, everywhere is energy. There MUST be some way of availing ourselves of this energy more directly. Then, with the light obtained from this medium, with the power derived from it, with every form of energy obtained without effort, from the store forever inexhaustible, humanity will advance in great strides. The mere contemplation of these magnificent possibilities expands our minds, strengthens our hopes and fills our hearts with supreme delight." delivered before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers at Columbia College, N.Y. , May 20, 1891 Nikola Tesla

I was given the age 22 by Suzi Banks Baum, who is one of the kindest souls that graces the earth. Before my hysterectomy she sent a care package with poems, maps, goodies, all for me. A gesture that I'll never forget. At 22 I'd just moved back from an apartment in Chicago and Columbia College and into a townhouse. I had my Realtor's license but sang backup in my best friend's band and dated his drummer. ( really? a drummer? ) I did community theatre and musical theatre at the local college and loved every second of it. I lived my life as free as I could and as happily as I could. I loved as big as possible and tried to remain grounded. I rode on the back of my best friend's motorcycle and dressed like a hippie. I was loyal to my friends, always. Today I am 42. I'm a divorced mother of two awesome kids, 7 and 11. I still sing several times a week for fun and maintain contact with those friends I made in college through social media. Some, unfortunately have passed on. Some I still consider to b ...

Classes began at Columbia College this week, and since I teach on Friday afternoons, I'm gearing up for my first class tomorrow. I still get butterflies and just the teensiest bit of stage fright for the two or three days prior to each new semester. I blame that mostly on only teaching one semester a year, and thus, having almost 9 months off between my teaching gigs. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Eugene is named after its founder, Eugene Franklin Skinner. In 1846, Skinner erected the first cabin in the area. It was used as a trading post and was registered as an official post office on January 8, 1850. At this time the location was known as Skinner's Mudhole. Skinner founded Eugene in 1862 and later ran a ferry service across the Willamette River where the Ferry Street Bridge now stands. The first major educational institution in the area was Columbia College, founded a few years earlier than the University of Oregon. It fell victim to two major fires in four years, and after the second fire, the college decided not to rebuild again. The part of south Eugene known as College Hill was the former location of Columbia College. There is no college there today. The town raised the initial funding to start a public university, which later became the University of Oregon, with the hope of turning the small town into a center of learning. In 1872, the Legislative Assembly passed a bill creating the Univer ...

Happy New Year to everyone. It is almost a relief to have made it to the New Year and I hope that things will get better for all of us and the nation. Thanks very much for all your comments about Brian Schodorf’s award. He was surprised and we are all very proud of him. Brian is a graduate of North High. He got his start in media at North High. He took three years of television courses and made the class video when he was a senior at North. Because of those classes, he was able to test out of three or four classes at Columbia College in Chicago. Brian was home for Christmas and we had a good time, including going to the casino. The new buffet is really good. I also want to express our condolences to the family of Jean Garvey. I read the article in the paper and she had an amazing life and has left a wonderful family. Christmas break has been a good one, and teachers return to school today for an inservice. The students go back to Wichita Public Schools on Thursday. It is really a relief to go ...

NJARRT MEETING THURSDAY, January 10th - 7PM MORRISTOWN NATIONAL HISTORIC PARK 30 WASHINGTON AVE, MORRISTOWN NJ NJARRT MEETING: YOU SAY IT WAS A REVOLUTION? CHANGE AND CONTINUITY IN THE FOUNDING GENERATION. When we talk about the American Revolution, we all mean a historical event that began with political action in the 1760s, turned into a war in the middle 1770s, and concluded with a peace treaty in the early 1780s. But, aside from the obvious--the gaining of national independence--did the Revolution achieve a revolution? Did it change much of anything, aside from the admittedly crucial ouster of the British? With apologies to The Beatles, Richard Schwartz will pose the question, "You say it was a revolution?" By looking at the experiences of four Americans of the founding period--Tom Paine, Sarah Franklin Bache, Joseph Plumb Martin, and Lemuel Haynes--Schwartz will ask listeners to consider the degree to which the American Revolution represented upheaval in the way Americans lived. Richard Schwartz ...

Late night thoughts on the upcoming Empath 2.0 tour: I am very excited about this because it will be very different from what I have done on the last few tours. . Empath is the first full God Module CD I wrote alone after writing Artificial with Andrew. That alone should be enough to explain why it is special to me. But the majority of the songs were also written at a time where I was losing 2 very important parts of my life and now as time has passed, these songs mean a lot to me. So now, 10 years later having the opportunity to perform Empath for you live is really unreal in a way. I decided to do this tour the way I wish I could have when the CD was written. That being said, the shows will still be very visually compelling but not as horror based as usual. No live drums or guitars this time, only people and our machines. We will manipulate electronics; light and sound controlled by flesh to resurrect the emotions I tried to celebrate and destroy with these songs years ago. We have some awesome suppor . ...

Quoted from "Columbia Daily Spectator, Volume CVIII, Number 105, 21 April 1964" Aid to College of Pharmacy Dependent on Construction By Philip Brenner and David Spiegel The Columbia College of Pharmacy is in danger of losing a $250,000 grant from the government unless groundbreaking is begun on its new building by Jan. 1, 1965. The building will be located on a plot bounded by Amsterdam Avenue, West 121 st St, and Morningside Drive. Under the terms of the Health Education Facilities Act, a deadline is set by which time the new construction must be started. The money the Pharmacy School would lose unless it begins construction by Jan. 1 constitutes one-half of the total funds they have allotted for research facilities. Plans for construction have been halted by the Morningside 121 st Street Tenants' Committee, the tenant group opposed to the choice of site for the new building. They have an appeal pending before the City Rent and Rehabilitation Administration. However, a similar appeal was previously rejec ...

Anyone have special New Year's Traditions or Superstitions to ring in 2013??
I want City Council to answer this question. How is it possible to come to the conclusion that Chief Grounsell isn't a "good fit" for the city only after starting his career as Chief since August? From my understanding, Chief Grounsell has been out of his office in Columbia for training. That would make his time around the PD even less than 3 months. Hm??
With only 2 days left in 2012, I thought it would be a good time to remind you all of the One Hour Swim! The 23rd Annual One Hour Swim has two dates available; January 13 at Columbia University and January 26 at John Jay College. The event is part of the USMS One Hour Postal Championships, an annual meet held across the country. Swimmers get in the water, swim for 60 minutes without stopping, and get out. The object is to see how far you can go. Many of our swimmers do this swim every year, and have a lot of fun. Also, a few of the time slots are already filling up, so if you are interested, sign up here soon: in preparation for this distance swim, be prepared to put in some yardage for the first week or two in the pool in 2013!

An article on James Williams (USA/Sabre) from "Superscript" - Columbia University : Sabers and Shteyngart. After earning a silver medal as a saberist for the U.S. men’s fencing team at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, James Williams did something rather unusual for an Olympic athlete: he returned to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences to complete his Master’s degree in Slavic Cultures. Williams grew up in Sacramento and began fencing at age nine. Although he showed promise and competed nationally, he didn’t qualify for the under-16 or under-19 national teams. His breakthrough came when he moved to New York in 2003 to attend Columbia College and fence under Columbia’s legendary coaches George Kolombatovich and Aladar Kogler. [Fencing for Columbia] helped me to improve dramatically,” Williams said. “I learned how to support, and depend upon the support of, others. It made me more confident as a fencer because I felt like I had to fence well, not just for myself, but for everyone on the team. ...

Carl Leffler invented modern Bingo as we know it (based on Beano), but realized his number system was flawed and producing multiple winners for each game. He enlisted the help of Edwin S. Lowe, a professor of mathematics at Columbia College, and eventual creator of Yahtzee, to create 6,000 Bingo cards with non-repeating number combinations. It has become part of pop-culture legend that this eventually aided in driving Lowe insane. Point being, COME PLAY SOME BINGO!

Seriously considering Columbia College of Chicago right now.
In 2008 the media ridiculed candidate McCain for graduating at the bottom of his Naval Academy class with a less than stellar GPA. Despite the Trump $5,000,000 charitable donation offer to Chicago based charities, the Manchurin candidate still refuses to release any high school records, Occidental College records, Columbia College records or Harvard College records. It should concern every American an army of lawyers has spent tens of millions of dollars blocking the release of these records. Why?

A friend of mine died a month ago today… His name was Jack. Jack was an actor. A very good actor. I did not know him as well as the people he loved and worked with but I knew him. We had seen each other through many auditions during our trips around endless Columbia College projects. This was a talent amongst talents: crafty, musical, comic, wizardly, a renaissance man. I once mentioned he was a "model human being", for he never expressed an artist's complaint for anything or anyone that came his way. Everyone liked him. We kept in touch over the years and as time passed I never lost sight of his wit and millennial intelligence. Never. Yet what most I admired was his energy--that fierce tireless passion for life, over and over and over again. Alas you rest, Jack. …Goodbye, dear friend.

Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2012 The Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2012 has been awarded to Robert Lefkowitz , Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Duke University, USA, and Brian Kobilka , Stanford University, USA, for their work on G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). GPCRs are members of the family of integral membrane proteins (IMPs), which mediate the transfer of material and signals between the environment and the cytoplasm. There are about 1,000 GPCRs in the human body, all of which have similar molecular structures, defined by an amino acid sequence which crosses the plasma membrane seven times. This similarity means GPCRs can be effectively targeted and today as many as 30–50 % of all prescription drugs are designed to "fit" these structures. This has led to new anti-histamines, ulcer drugs, and beta blockers that help relieve hypertension, angina, and coronary disease. Robert Lefkowitz studied at Columbia College, USA, and gained his M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in ...

Several years ago I trimmed several dozen pounds by riding a bike to and from class every day and playing the dancing game Pump it UP So after several years of sedimentary lifestyle and avoiding getting my fitness and health where it should be, I finally found a work out buddy and have started my Fitness Journey. Today marks my first night of Fitness. SO myy statistics are as follows I am 6'2" 200 pounds 36 inch waist on a bad day (34 on a good). I have before tonight always weaseled my way out of really pushing myself. I would start and stop, complain about the pain and difficulty and in general cheat myself out of something very important. SO I'm starting from scratch. with my new work out buddy pushing me harder than I've ever been pushed, but being very understanding of the struggle it is for me. tonight I did my first workout. I ran 1 mile in 12 minutes. Did 50 crunches, and 25 leg lifts, 15 "supermans" and ran up and down the stairs at the front of Columbia College (about 20 stairs) about 15 times. ...

Born and bred on Chicago's South Side, R&B singer Jeremih taught himself how to play several instruments and didn't consider himself a vocalist until a warmly received performance at a talent show. At Chicago's Columbia College, he struck up a partnership with producer *** Schultz, and the two closely collaborated on the material that would become Jeremih's debut album, released in June 2009 on Def Jam. "Birthday Sex," its first single, debuted on Billboard's R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart that March; by mid-May, it was already in the Top Ten, and it became the year's breakout bedroom ballad à la J. Holiday's "Bed." Jeremih, his self-titled album, produced entirely by Schultz, was released in late June 2009. At that point, "Birthday Sex" had crossed over to the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100. A year later, Jeremih issued his follow-up, All About You. Two of its songs, "Down on Me" and "I Like," reached the Top 30 of the R&B Hip Hop Singles chart. ~ Andy Kellman

You make that turn on the expressway and see the Sears Tower (Willis Tower my *** , and that makes everything right in the world. BONUS: Parking lot a few blocks away for just $10! Second, it was an absolutely gorgeous day... and when it's a gorgeous day in the suburbs, it's PERFECT in the loop. This from someone who hates the outdoors. Yes, I said perfect. And third, and most of all, I was able to go into a dark theatre and watch my child's movie up on the screen. And then see my own screen credit as Executive Producer. Then went to a fantastic deli just down Wabash from Columbia College and had a fantastic corned beef sandwich and a few beers with the director and the other Executive Producers. "I was five years without a job. I went out to California looking for one and settled down in Carmel, where I met John Steinbeck, who was also broke. That was an important moment for me, especially getting to know his collaborator, Ed Ricketts, who's the doctor in his novels. "Ricketts was an intertidal biologist and I had been interested in biology from my school days. Talking with Ricketts, I ...realized that between myth and biology there is a very close association. I think of mythology as a function of biology: it's a production of the human imagination, which is moved by the energy of the organs of the body operating against each other. These are the same in human beings all over the world and this is the basis for the archetypology of myth. So I've thought of myself as a kind of marginal scientist studying the phenomenology of the human body, you might say." Joseph Campbell, interviewed by D.J.R. Bruckner for "Joseph Campbell, Mythologist: Seventy Years of Making Connections," In Columbia College ...

What the left fail to realize is that when they elected an inexperienced under-qualified Barack Obama then they may just as well have elected Charles Mansion for President. They knew more about Charles Mansion then they did about Barack Obama. Who knows, maybe the reason no one knew of him at Columbia College is because he killed them all. Yes, I purposely took this to the extreme to make a point. YOU DO NOT ELECT SOMEONE YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT TO THE HIGHEST OFFICE IN THE LAND! Now the Dems are running around giving all kinds of bogus reasons for why he has failed. They over look the obvious, HE WAS NEVER QUALIFIED! The test of a true leader is how he performs under adversity. This one has clearly failed that test. It is time he is removed from duty!
Sitting outside of Columbia College waiting for Ashlee I have noticed one thing... All of these hipster "individualists" look the same. Thus defeating the point. It's like starting an anarchy club. ***
Dear friends, I recently had a stay in the hospital after a bad reaction to an antibiotic - bleeding from my sinuses, my urethra and my colostomy, and spontaneous bruising . After getting a couple units of blood and platlets, a CAT scan was done see if the internal bleeding had stopped. It had, but sadly the scan shwed the cancer had spread all over my body. The prognosis is very poor, the oncology staff says that I may only have a couple of months. I am getting increasingly weak, and the pain levels are getting very high. If anyone would care to contribute to my fundrazr site to help make my remaining time more comfortable, or help with my funeral expenses, please go to the link below or contact me directly for my mailing address. Pleas know that I take many wonderful memories with me, I treasure the time I had in Chicago especially at Columbia college. I only regret that I will never see many of you again, but know that I love you. Gwynedd

Some might find this interesting. It's called "Frank Chu: Zegnetronic Humanoids." Tony Trigilio put it together and plays drums and percussion and whatever else is going on in the piece. Possibly some other people are in this as well. Also some audio clips of San Francisco street eccentric (a polite term) Frank Chu, who provides the title. got the idea to go to grad school from Tony when I met him at Kent State, but I have since forgiven him. He's an English professor at Columbia College of Chicago these days and an interesting poet. More music form Tony is at the www.starve.org website.
