Colin Kaepernick starting over Brett in Green Bay is a funny thing to say

The Fine 15, Pre-Camp Edition Now this is odd. A Fine 15 some 46 days before the season starts. But there’s nothing like a little controversy to sell papers. 1. Seattle. I like the approach of the coach and the defense (“We’re going to win again, and we don’t care who knows it”) and, from being with Russell Wilson a bit this offseason, I know his approach. He’ll enter camp this week thinking he’s got to beat out Tarvaris Jackson for the starting job. 2. Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers has his weapons and his health, and the schedule’s friendly post-Sept. 4, with the Bills, Jets, Dolphins out of conference on the docket. 3. San Francisco. If I trusted Colin Kaepernick as much as I trust Russell Wilson, 1 and 3 would be reversed. 4. New Orleans. The rich get obscenely richer, and Brandin Cooks wins offensive rookie of the year, and the defense stays stout. Need to survive the schedule: three of the first away, three of the last five away. 5. Indianapolis. I’m buying the Luck hype, plus he gets b ...
Okay Packers fans, that Colin Kaepernick meme was pretty funny but tell me again, who ended Green Bay's season two years in a row? .thank you, that's all I needed to know. 👏😆😋
Tracy Funk Boas & Carla Heath Smith I thought you both would like to read this. It's pretty accurate. "Do you think Packers fans would still hate the Bears if they knew how important they were to the Packers staying in Green Bay? I don’t think Packers fans really hate the Bears. I think it’s a kind of twisted love-to-hate-the-Bears kind of thing. The Bears are part of the Packers’ identity. It’s the oldest rivalry in pro football and Packers fans treasure that distinction. There’s a large measure of respect Packers fans have for the Bears that borders on love for the distinction the rivalry provides. Packers fans need the Bears or they lose something they treasure. The most intense rivalries don’t include anything but hate or intense dislike. I don’t sense any great respect for Jim Harbaugh or Colin Kaepernick, just intense dislike. My inbox is jammed with dislike for Harbaugh’s sideline antics and for Kaepernick kissing his biceps. When you get that kind of nonsensical reaction to a foot ...

New on SI: First Down/Fourth Down: 49ers advance as Colin Kaepernick foils the Packers again
Phil Dawson kicked a 33-yard field goal as time expired Sunday to give the 49ers a thrilling 23-20 win over the Packers in a wild-card playoff game at frigid Lambeau Field. The game-winning kick was set up by the exploits of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who, again, bedeviled Green Bay with his arm…

Colin Kaepernick Heats up for 49ers in Green Bay
Colin Kaepernick seems to be Green Bay's arch enemy!
And that's the game. For the second consecutive season, Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers have eliminated the Green Bay Packers from the NFL playoffs. Kaepernick is 3-0 against Green Bay in his career.
49ERS 23 GREEN BAY 20 Is anyone not looking forward to this game? For that matter, is anyone more excited than Frank Gore? If you've watched the Packers' defense this season, you know it can be run on ... a lot. Green Bay allowed 125 rushing yards per game at 4.63 yards per carry. There is no reason to think Jim Harbaugh and his Niners staff won't use their full stable of backs to pound the Packers' front seven into submission. It's too bad Bruce Miller is hurt. It's not too bad that Colin Kaepernick is playing. So maybe Kaepernick won't put up 181 rushing yards like he did against the Packers in the playoffs last season; he can still certainly run for 50. Utilizing Kaepernick on zone-read plays and option runs will make Green Bay play 11-on-11, not 11-on-10, as the Pack would be able to do if it were Shaun Hill, Jim Druckenmiller or Steve Bono lining up under center for San Francisco. Not to mention (but we'll mention) the fact that limiting Aaron Rodgers' possessions always makes sense, especially whe . ...
S.O.S. Time for San Francisco? How many people in the San Francisco bay area miss Alex Smith right about now? Hopefully not too many, but I am sure somewhere in Kansas City, Alex Smith is laughing to himself right about now. Who can blame him? His Chiefs are 3-0 and Smith has posted impressive numbers through three weeks. The 49ers are 1-2, not because of some crazy accident, but because they have had zero offensive production besides week 1 against Green Bay. Defensively, they can’t seem to make tackles to save their life, especially when it comes to stopping the run. Seattle beat the 49ers soundly, although Russell Wilson did not play the greatest game, the defense of Seattle shut down Colin Kaepernick and held him to just 127 passing yards, and intercepted him 3 times. Going into this past week’s game against the Colts, 49ers fans were looking for redemption, unfortunately, all they found was more disappointment. The Colts defense held Kaepernick to just 150 passing yards. Indianapolis picked off K ...
Mark Swisha Nicacio this the nfl power rankings 1(2) Seattle 2-0-0 The Seahawks have allowed a league-low 10 points this season against offenses led by Cam Newton and Colin Kaepernick. Hosting the Jaguars Sunday might get ugly. 2(3) Denver 2-0-0 Denver's plus-40 point differential is tops in the league after convincing wins against the Ravens and Giants. The way the Broncos have played, hosting the Raiders Monday night doesn't seem scary. 3(1) San Francisco 1-1-0 Colin Kaepernick was 4-for-9 with two interceptions targeting Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis on Sunday. Boldin's first catch didn't come until 9:45 in the fourth quarter. 4(6) Houston 2-0-0 Ben Tate has picked up the pace. Tate had his sixth-career 100-yard game Sunday, and the Texans' 5.2 yards per rush average ranks second, even without Arian Foster in peak form. 5(7) Green Bay 1-1-0 Packers wide receivers have had 37 catches without a drop this season. Green Bay receivers had 21 drops last year, fourth most in the league. 6(4) Atlanta 1-1-0 Ju ...
By Troy Sparks GREEN BAY – If the Green Bay Packers could erase what happened to them in San Francisco in Week 1, they would. But in the NFL, the players and coaches must have a short term memory because the next opponent is waiting. The Pack thought that 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick would leave the pocket and take off running, but he had a secret weapon in receiver Anquan Boldin. Kaepernick hurt Green Bay with his feet in last year’s playoffs and he beat them again, this time with his arm. Last year, Robert Griffin III did a lot of running when the pass protection broke down for the Washington Redskins in their read option offense. He suffered that horrible knee injury in the playoffs. None of that would be the case when Griffin III and his Redskins came to Lambeau Field, Sept. 15, to play the Packers. His thought process was changed, thanks to his Head Coach, Mike Shanahan, to stay in the pocket instead of scrambling. The Packers didn’t want to start the season 0-2. Before entering their fi ...
Mike McCarthy: Packers will stay above Jim Harbaugh’s comments Posted by Michael David Smith on September 10, 2013, 7:14 AM EDT San Francisco 49ers coach Harbaugh talks with Green Bay Packers coach McCarthy after they defeated the Packers in their NFL NFC Divisional playoff football game in San Francisco Reuters San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh got riled up about the sideline melee that erupted in Sunday’s game with the Packers. Green Bay Coach Mike McCarthy is taking a more mild-mannered approach. Harbaugh ripped Packers linebacker Clay Matthews for a “cheap shot” on 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and told Matthews that if he wants to be a “tough guy” he should have “come with some knuckles” instead of slapping 49ers offensive lineman Joe Staley. McCarthy said he talked to his team about Harbaugh’s comments, but that he won’t respond to Harbaugh publicly. “Clay Matthews is not a dirty player, by no means,” McCarthy said. “I addressed Harbaugh’s comments in the team meeting ...
Casey Hayward - Casey Hayward to miss Week 2 - Green Bay Packers head Coach Mike McCarthy said CB Casey Hayward (hamstring) will not play Week 2. Huddle Up: This isn't good for a Green Bay secondary that was absolutely annihilated by Colin Kaepernick last week. This is just what the doctor ordered for Robert Griffin III.
NFL PRE SEASON RANKINGS 1) Seattle Seahawks- The Seahawks have dynamic playmakers on both sides of the ball along with a tremendous home field advantage. If there is an area of concern it could be at quarterback where there will be a tremendous amount of pressure on Russell Wilson. The second year signal caller will not be catching anyone by surprise this year. 2) Denver Broncos- Denver went 13-3 in Peyton Manning’s “knock the rust off” year. The addition of Wes Welker and running back Montee Ball to the offense will keep defensive coordinators up at night. 3) San Francisco 49ers- The Michael Crabtree injury was a huge blow to the offense and will put a lot of pressure on receivers like Kyle Williams and A.J. Jenkins. Colin Kaepernick better keep his track shoes ready. 4) Green Bay Packers- Aaron Rodgers being supported by a very productive running game (drafted rbs Eddie Lacy and Jonathan Franklin) could mean big things in Green Bay. 5) Atlanta Falcons- The Falcons are built to win on offense, but ...
Are you ready for some football?!  I know a small town in the state of Wisconsin certainly is.  the Green Bay Packers kickoff their 2013 season, at San Francisco, on September 8th.  “Opening day is always exciting” Coach Mike McCarthy said.  Well, when your opening day is going on the road, to face the team who was your biggest barrier to the Super Bowl, I could think of a few more adjectives to describe that day.  Some may say the 49ers were the Packers’ “Achille’s Heel” in 2012, when they squared off on opening day (ironic?) AND in the NFC Divisional, in which they fell victim to Colin Kaepernick and lost 45-31.  The Packers ended their season with an overall record of 12-6 (technically it should’ve been 13-5) because of the now famous Russell Wilson “Fail Mary”, in which Seattle stole a 14-12 victory in week three.  I’m sure Green Bay would like to get their revenge on the Seahawks this season, but they will have to settle for an August 23rd preseason game that will be tel ...
I feel like its the first day at a new job, Christmas when I was kid, the night before my wedding, when I found I was going to be a father, and when I got arrested all combined into one. Approximately 18 years ago I became a 49ers fan when I watched them beat the Chargers 49-26 and Steve Young threw a Super Bowl record 6 touchdown passes. Since then I watched them lose to the Falcons in '98 when Garrison Hearst's ankle broke in half in the first quarter, the Catch II when the Niners beat Green Bay on a TD pass with 6 seconds left down by four to Terrell Owens, TO's celebration in Cowboy stadium by Standing on the Star at midfield, the Niners come back from down 24 points and win against the Giants in 2002, and go 2-14 in 2004 only to pass on Aaron Rogers in favor of Alex Smith with the number 1 overall pick. I watched Alex Smith get benched and cast off 243 times before finally redeeming his career under Jim Harbaugh only to have it snatched away with the emergence of Colin Kaepernick. I watched good, bad ...
Who am I picking in the Super Bowl ? Here is what I think , I know a lot of you will disagree , but W.G.A.S. ? Baltimore : Yeah , okay , Ray Lewis is retiring . SO ??? Ed Reed and Matt Birk (c) may be playing their last game in a Ravens uniform as well . how far can the "Win it for the Gipper " crap really go on for ??? Flacco has been very good in the playoffs so far this year , but does anybody here really believe he was that great against Denver ? While we are on the Denver game , how about the fact that Peyton Manning TORE THEIR "GREAT D " UP ? The Ravens won that game because Denver CHOKED , LONG AND HARD ! They played better than the Patriots , but San Francisco blew out the Pats a little over a month ago . San Francisco : Colin Kaepernick ??? Don't get me wrong , I think he is a great QB ,and I 100% believe that he makes the team BETTER , especially the WRs . he can actually get the ball to them ! BUT Alex Smith was 2 fumbled punts away from having this team in the Super Bowl LAST YEAR . The "pass ...
49ers at FalconsLIVE Jan 20, 2013 12:00 PM – 3:30 PM 210 minutes KTXL 8 21 watching San Francisco at Atlanta. Last weekend, 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick blasted Green Bay out of the playoffs, rushing for 181 yards and 2 TDs, and throwing for two more. Matt Ryan tossed 3 TD passes and rallied the Falcons to a last-minute win over Seattle.
49ers' Michael Crabtree being investigated for alleged sexual assault: San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Michael Crabtree has been interviewed by San Francisco police regarding allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman Jan. 13 following the team’s playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Crabtree has agreed to make himself available for further interviews, the newspaper reported. He has not been arrested, and the 25-year-old is expected to play in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game vs. the Atlanta Falcons. Crabtree is coming off his best season of his four-year career, as he caught 85 passes for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns. He was especially productive in the 49ers’ divisional round victory vs. Green Bay, when he caught nine passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns. He and Colin Kaepernick have appeared to form a great rapport on the field. The 49ers will be heading to Atlanta for Sunday’s game.
My first initial reaction to news that Chip Kelly has flip-flopped and taken the Eagles job... I suspect the Eagles were moved by Colin Kaepernick's performance against Green Bay, and felt moved to offer Chip whatever he wanted in terms of $$ and control. The evolution of zone read option and mobile QBs who can threaten a defense with their feet and their arms taking over the NFL is now in full swing. Just a guess, but Kaepernick's had definitively answered the question of whether CK's offense can be effective in the NFL. How long it can be effective and at what cost on an NFL roster with far fewer players and questions only time will resolve. The haters who will equate this to Oregon falling from the top of the heap in the Pac-12 are smoking crack...at least for the short term.
Not to take anything away from Green Bay but WOW! Colin Kaepernick played darn near the best I've ever seen. 181 yards rushing for Kaepernick, an NFL single game QB rushing record. Only Randall Cunningham on Tecmo Bowl could beat that! Very impressed! Jim Harbaugh I guess you knew what you were doing by sitting Alex Smith.
THE HARBAUGH HIGHLIGHTS: SF 49er's Head Coach Jim Harbaugh changes quarterbacks in mid-season. QB Colin Kaepernick breaks the ALL-TIME rushing record--regular or post season for a signal caller against Green Bay. Baltimore Head Coach has his Offensive Co-ordinator fired and the Ravens rack up 38 points today in a 2OT game against Denver.both brothers' teams win. Could we see a Harbaugh vs Harbaugh coaching match-up in the Super Bowl? Your thoughts. A post-script to the Denver football 2012-13 campaign: Tim Tebow took the Broncos further than Peyton Manning did in the postseason last year.Mm.
Mike Mcarthy(Head Coach of Green Bay) worked for SF the same year we were drafting Alex Smith and or like we had told him, Aaron Rogers. At the time of the draft, Mike was Negotiating a deal with Green Bay to be their Head Coach. SF wanted Aaron... Mike influenced a puck of Alex Smith Green Bay gets Aaron Rogers. Wins a Super Bowl. But karma just showed up today in Candlestick. In the form of a childhood fan of GreenBay, initially drafted by the Chicago Cubs, for his 93 MPH fastball, Colin Kaepernick... We were suppose to win this game!
Steve Young on what Colin Kaepernick must do against Green Bay
Watched "Inside The NFL" last night. Chris Collinsworth is picking San Francisco to beat Green Bay. Phil Simms is picking the Packers over the 49ers (partly to contradict Chris' prediction, I think). I say that Colin Kaepernick is 3 times as good as Joe Webb and twice as good as Christian Ponder, thus, the 49ers won't be playing with the same handicaps that the Vikings had. San Fran will beat Green Bay easily.
Here is a summary for the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers game this Saturday. The Pack is back on Saturday night but this time they won’t is 3-0 SU and ATS in the postseason versus .700 or greater foes and have the luxury of Lambeau Field, or Joe Webb for that matter. That’s not to say that they can’t walk out of Candlestick Park with a win – even though they fall into that same ugly 3-28 SU angle that may ground the Ravens. Sure, the Niners fit the same bill that benefited Green Bay last week, namely home teams in their opening playoff game after being bounced as a favorite the previous season (these teams are now 34-19 ATS). And, yes, Jim Harbaugh is 10-1 SU and 9-2 ATS in his NFL coaching career versus .667 or greater opposition, including 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS this season. However, do you really expect Colin Kaepernick to be able to go toe-to-toe in a quarterback battle with Aaron Rodgers? We don’t, not when Rodgers 11-5 ATS in his career as a dog, including 7-1 ATS when taking 2.5 or ...
The last time the 49ers and the Packers met was week 1 of the Regular Season. The 49ers won that game 30 - 22. Now this weekend the 49ers is going to show the Cheeseheads why they are the "Best in the West" when Green Bay comes to Candelstick Park and faces the relentless defense of the 49ers, and the cannon that Colin Kaepernick throws with. I'll be looking for a few TD passes to Michael Crabtree Some long burst runs from Frank Gore and a few pick 6s from numerous players on the defense, cause this team is Super Bowl bound.
NFL Divisional Playoff Picks. Got em all right on wild card weekend (trust me, I did lol), let's see if I do the same this upcoming week... Broncos over Ravens 31-17 (Awesome career for Ray Lewis ends in Denver. Baltimore did well to beat Indy in Round 1, but going on the road to face Peyton Manning rather than facing a rookie (albeit an extremely talented one in Andrew Luck) at home is a whole different animal. Cheatriots over Texans 30-20 (I'll say Houston gives a better game here than they did in the Regular Season, but I don't see them having enough offense to win this one) Packers over 49ers 23-20 (The 49ers did win in Green Bay on opening week, but that was four months ago and also with Alex Smith at QB. This time Colin Kaepernick is the QB for San Fran. I'm taking the Pack) Seahawks over Falcons 27-24 (Losing Chris Clemons is a huge blow for the Seattle defense, but fortunately they still have 'Beast Mode' in Marshawn Lynch to win the time of possession battle, a rookie QB mature beyond his years i ...
So... I guess my predictions were pretty terrible. But luckily, I have a short memory and am back at it again! Baltimore at Denver I must say, I was surprised by how well the Ravens played the Colts today. But the way the Broncos are playing right now, I think only a handful of teams can even come close to competing with them and the Ravens aren't one of them. I think Peyton Manning is a man on a mission, the Bronco's top two receivers are ginormous and their defense is perfectly suited to close out games with a fierce pass rush. Going with the home team... Den. 31, Bal. 14 Green Bay at San Francisco Great game, great matchup, great rematch. These two teams met week 1 and the 49ers barely left Lambeau with a win. The difference now? Colin Kaepernick is the starting QB now. But Kaepernick is a high risk, high reward QB. And untested in the playoffs. Charles Woodson gets a couple of picks and the Packers squeak it out this time... GB 38, SF 17 Houston at New England Another rematch and this time, I think th ...
Most intriguing matchup in the divisional round is an old playoff rivalry btween the Packers and 49ers. They had some classic battles in the 90s n 2000s. Even tho Green Bay is 4-1 n postseason against San Francisco, I think the 49ers defense is goin give Aaron Rodgers problems. Also want to see how Colin Kaepernick do in his 1st playoff start.
Week 1 Rematch of Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers. The Green Bay Packers will face off against the San Francisco 49ers January 12 at 8:00 ET for the NFC Division. The winner will move on to play in the NFC Championship Game. It will be a rematch between the two that faced off in week one. Aaron Rodgers led the passing game with 44 Attempts, 30 Completion for 303 Yards, and 2 Touchdowns. While Frank Gore led the running game with 16 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown, the 49ers pulled away with the victory and won 30-22 in Green Bay. This time around it will be Green Bay coming to San Francisco with their high-powered offense. Early in the season it was Alex Smith vs. Aaron Rodgers, but this time it will be Colin Kaepernick vs. Aaron Rodgers. Look for Aldon Smith, the 49ers leading sack holder to go after Rodgers. For Green Bay look for DuJuan Harris to run at Justin Smith and the right side of the offensive line. The winner of this game will be sitting happy in the NFC Championship Game and may ...
