Coach Lou Holtz on whiners: "The man who complains about the way the ball bounces is likely the one who dropped it."
This is Woody Hayes, quote from Urban.. "So I guess Ohio State had lost the bowl game, so Earl Bruce brings in Woody Hayes. I had been there just a week and I'm thinking, 'Holy, this is Coach Hayes.' I'm sitting in the back. Coach Hayes was not healthy at the time, but stands up and starts laying into the coaching staff about toughness. That we have no toughness in the program. That's why we lost the game. On and on and screaming, this old guy pounding the table. He says, 'We have no toughness, and the reason is because you're not tough. No one on this staff is tough enough, and that's a problem.' "He reaches down and grabs this box, slides the top and there was something in the box moving around. He reaches in and he pulls out this turtle. He reaches down, this turtle's snapping and he says, 'I'm going to show you toughness.' He unzips his pants and takes out whatever he takes out. The turtle reaches up and snaps at him. You see the veins and the sweat (on Hayes). He screams at the coaches, 'That's tough ...

Friends you need a true story after what we saw in the debates last night. Coach Lou Holtz told me this story when he came to Amory to recruit Lee Davis. He said "When he first started to coach at a small school, the coaches himself included met with the players for the first time and decided they had the smallest group of players in the world. The coaching staff later decided there was no reason for them to work the kids real hard - they could'nt win. So they decided to go to practice and just cover what they had to do and go home. Coach Holtz developed his philosphy of teaching and coaching at this high school. Each day they just ran through the blocking assignments and did what they had to do to cover the days work and did not do any repetition - they felt it was useless. In a couple of days one of the coaches remarked that these small kids were not dumb because they remembered everything that was taught from day to day. A shame that they were so small that they could not win a game. Coach Holtz went o ...

Florida Gators by three over LSU Tigers. Why? Because Arkansas Democrat newspaper sports writer Wally Hall picked LSU Tigers to win by three because he wrote the game is being played in Death Valley at Baton Rouge. This fool does not know that the game is in The Swamp in Florida. Wally managed to insult both undefeated teams by calling The Gators and The Tigers pretenders. Wally worry about your own team the Razorbacks. Wally you have a head coach who thinks the Arkansas Razorbacks play in Alabama. Wally Hall helped run off two Razorback coaching legends Coach Nolan Richardson and Coach Lou Holtz both of these coaches have won national championships in football and basketball. Wally please keep picking against The Gators and dissing undefeated teams. What a *** Go Gators.
People often ask why my two favorite college football teams are Michigan State University and Notre Dame. I've always liked MSU ever since I was a kid. While other kids in the neighborhood jumped on the bandwagon and had their UofM sweats on, I was always a low-key MSU fan. Then I graduated from MSU and became an even bigger fan. I always get "arn't MSU and ND rivals?" I've always had great respect for ND, their coaches and the football team. It also goes back to the "Game of the Century" in 1966 when MSU and ND tied for the national title. When Coach Lou Holtz headed ND's football program more players graduated than any other program in the US. That is respect.

Former Tribe Head Football Coach Lou Holtz comments on his time with the WM Program.
Great day of practice. Girls really competed and got after it. We talked about the 3 things that everyone needs to keep in mind to have success in a team or a family that I had read what Coach Lou Holtz from Notre Dame shares with his players. 1. Can I Trust You? 2. Are You Committed To Excellence? 3. Do You Care About Me? If kids can say YES to these 3 things, then there should never be any more discussions.

IT’S a HAPPINESS 103 WEDNESDAY! What is happiness? I am sure we all have our own definition. Sometimes it is something, sometimes someone, sometimes simple things, sometimes complex things; everyone is different. One of the things that bring happiness for me is the success of my son, whether something small or something big. I remember when we went for an official visit to South Carolina and sat in the office of Coach Lou Holtz. I could see my son beaming, excited, nervous, and anxious. Coach Holtz was an amazing Coach to my son both on and off the field. When Chad blew out his knee and hospitalized for twenty eight days, I remember Coach coming by the hospital on Thursday and talking over practices with Chad, bringing him goody bags of Gator aide, candy bars and bubble gum. They would talk over every play for the next game coming up. Coach Holtz always had words of wisdom that were simple and had an amazing impact. One of my favorites was when he said that he just couldn’t believe that God ...

There is a Rule to live by that I have learned from Coach Lou Holtz. You are either growing or dying. So is a tree, so is grass, so is a marriage, and so is a person. Doesn't have anything to do with age. Always make sure you have something inspiring to do. Never maintain!
