Coach Leslie Frazier sounds like Mike Singletary "I gotta look at the tape"
When the Minnesota Vikings take the field Monday night to face the New York Giants, they’ll start their third different quarterback of the season. Coach Leslie Frazier announced Wednesday that newly-acquired quarterback Josh Freeman will get the start.
The Minnesota Vikings have three quarterbacks to chose from for only one spot. Coach Leslie Frazier doesn't seem to know which one to move forward with, but NFL Media's Michael Irvin does.
Frazier vague on Vikings quarterback situation October 1, 2013 EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Most of the Minnesota Vikings fans, and even many of the players, seem to have made a decision on who should start at quarterback when their team comes out of the bye. Coach Leslie Frazier isn't ready make that call just yet. Frazier said Tuesday that he wants to see how Christian Ponder's injured ribs progress through the bye week before he makes a decision on who will start at home against Carolina on Oct. 13. Frazier spoke two days after backup Matt Cassel helped engineer the Vikings' first win of the season. Cassel completed 16 of 25 passes for 248 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 34-27 victory over the Steelers in London on Sunday and brought an efficiency and big-play ability to the offense that hasn't been there all season. Ponder has struggled this season. He has completed 59 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and five interceptions in the first three games, all losses for the Vikings. B ...
Kevin Williams to start over Sharrif Floyd - It appears like Kevin Williams will remain a starting defensive tackle for the Vikings over rookie Sharrif Floyd . The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Minnesota will use Floyd to spell Williams more than they plan to put the rookie on the field at the same time as the veteran defensive tackle. Coach Leslie Frazier said he wants Floyd to play in a rotation system with Williams, initially coming in to give the 32-year-old W...
Vikings DT Kevin Williams will keep his starting job despite the first-round selection of Sharrif Floyd. Williams and Floyd play the same three-technique position, but the Vikings plan to use Floyd to "spell" Williams rather than replace him in year one. Williams' contract is up after the year -- and he'll be going on 34 -- so this is likely his final season in Minnesota. Coach Leslie Frazier wouldn't rule out using Williams at nose tackle if Floyd proves too good to keep off the first team. Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press
Coach Leslie Frazier insisted that the Vikings want to run a balanced offense this season. Last season, the Vikings ranked eighth in rush attempts and 28th in pass attempts as they tried to hide Christian Ponder. With a revamped receiving corps and expectations Ponder will take a step forward in his third NFL season, Frazier sees a more even attack. "It's not imperative that [Adrian Peterson] rushed for 2,000 yards, or 2,500 yards, for us to win. Our offense is always going to run through Adrian, but we want to be able to pass the ball better than we did a year ago," said the coach. Source: Associated Press via Rotoworld
Great to catch up with Leslie Frazier Vikings Head Coach earlier today and Clay Travis breaking down Auburn story!
Yes. Leslie Frazier is the perfect coach for Manti He will be fine. He will have to improve from Alabama game obviously.
According to Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com, the Vikings feel the need to find a backup quarterback behind Christian Ponder. Joe Webb’s dismal performance in the playoffs replacing an injured Ponder was enough for the team to make it a high priority come free agency. Coach Leslie Frazier stated he doesn’t want a quarterback who feels he’s a starter and would become disgruntled if not the top signal caller. “That would be the key,” Frazier said. “If the guy comes in and has the mindset that ‘I’m going to create a problem in the locker room’ because he feels he should be the starter, that would not be a good fit. It needs to be a guy understands his role and could fit our team and be ready to go at a moment’s notice.”
NFL trade rumors: Alex Smith trade market limited The San Francisco 49ers have a new starting quarterback named Colin Kaepernick who helped lead them to the Super Bowl this past season. However, while they would like to now pull off an Alex Smith trade, rotoworld reported on Feb. 13 that the trade market for Smith is "limited." While earlier rumors have the 49ers interested in a Percy Harvin trade, it doesn't look like Minnesota is interested in Alex Smith. Head Coach Leslie Frazier told ESPN that he was not going to bring in competition for Christian Ponder in 2013 and had faith in his quarterback. That eliminates another team that San Francisco could talk to for Smith's services. While Buffalo, Arizona and Cleveland could use an upgrade... ~SportsMan

He is also just the fourth coach to win 100 games in a decade. • On November 7, 2011, became the 31st coach in NFL history to patrol the sidelines for 200 regular season games and just 13th to do so with one franchise. ...

Coach Leslie Frazier explains the Vikings' decision to place WR Percy Harvin on season-ending injured reserve.
The Minnesota Vikings placed ailing wide receiver Percy Harvin on injured reserve Wednesday, abruptly ending a season that began so well for one of the NFL's most versatile players. Coach Leslie Frazier answered questions about Harvin's status cryptically and vaguely at his regular news conference, when he ruled Harvin out of practice again because of the severely sprained ankle that has kept him out of the last three games. Then about six hours later, the Vikings announced the move that declared their top pass-catcher done for the year.
The Minnesota Vikings still don't have wide receiver Percy Harvin back. Coach Leslie Frazier said Harvin won't practice Wednesday. He severely sprained his left ankle on Nov. 4 at Seattle and has missed three games since. The Vikings play Chicago on Sunday, but Frazier sounded pessimistic about Harvin's return. The coach said it's "hard to say" when asked if Harvin's season could be over. As to whether any issues beyond the injury are behind Harvin's absence, Frazier answered vaguely. He said he knows Harvin "wants to win" and is sure he will "do everything he can" to help the Vikings. Harvin missed a total of three games over his first three seasons.
There's no doubt that Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder stunk it up on Sunday, but Coach Leslie Frazier is still holding his nose.
Coach Leslie Frazier said he will not bench Christian Ponder ahead of a Week 14 game against the Bears. Ponder continues to hold the Vikings' offense hostage. He managed just 12 completions and 119 yards in Sunday's loss to the Packers, marking the fourth time in the last six games he's been held under 160 yards. Still, Frazier said he didn't think about turning to Joe Webb during the game and won't do so going forward, either. "No. Christian, he's our quarterback," he said. "We're going to do all we can this week to help him to have a good week against Chicago (next Sunday) and help our team go out and get a win."
Coach Leslie Frazier reiterated at Monday's presser that he isn't considering benching QB Christian Ponder.
Vikings cornerback Chris Cook won't be back anytime soon. Coach Leslie Frazier said on Friday that Cook has a broken arm -- not a broken wrist, as was initially believed -- and will undergo surgery that is expected to sideline him for seven to eight weeks.

I'm going to go on a bit of a rant here about unions, so if you're anti-union, just disregard this post. As many of you know that follow the NFL, the NFL Referee's Union is on strike. From my understanding, there is a huge gap between their stand and the Owners' position. The strike could last a while. The replacement referees do not seem to be doing a very good job! Just ask the Vikings' head coach, Leslie Frazier about the ref's giving San Francisco five timeouts towards the end of Sunday's game. Or, better yet, ask the Packers' head coach, Mike McCarthy about the way their game ended. I get a kick out of all the uproar from not only Packer fans in Wisconsin, but people all over the country are outraged at the fact we can't get these union members to resolve their differences and get those good, union referees back on the job! I mean, come on people, we're talking FOOTBALL here! Are they the same people that voted for Governor Scott Walker so he could bust the unions in Wisconsin for teachers, firefight ...
