The first big trade since the Mavericks trading for Rajon Rondo was a doozy. First reported by Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Dion Waiters to the Oklahoma City Thunder and received J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert from the New York Knicks in a blockbuster 3-team trade. At first, Reggie Jackson was rumored to be part of the deal, sending him to New York but plans shifted. CLEVELAND -- Luol Deng misses his close friends in Chicago. The Bulls seem to be getting along fine without him. D.J. Augustin scored 27 points in a start for Kirk Hinrich and Taj Gibson matched a career high with 26 filling in for Carlos Boozer as the Bulls improved to 7-2 since trading the popular Deng with a 98-87 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. Augustin and Mike Dunleavy hit 3-pointers down the stretch to pace the Bulls, who have won three straight, nine of 11 and moved over .500 for the first time since Nov. 22. Chicago reached the season's mid-point at 21-20, not where many expected the Bulls to be sitting after dealing Deng. The two-time All-Star was a non-factor in his first game against his former team, which traded him for draft picks on Jan. 6. Deng went just 2 of 11 from the field and scored 11 points in 40 minutes. "It was strange," Deng said. "It's the Cavs versus the Bulls and not so much about me. In terms of me, I could have played better." Joakim Noah had 18 rebounds ...
So what it sounds like is that Pau Gasol IS going to the Cleveland Cavaliers, for Andrew Bynum. Sadly, Cleveland denied the possibility that Dion Waiters would go too. I would like to keep Bynum, let him play, if he gets injured, we have other big men. (I miss the Bynum-Pau duo.)

The Cleveland Cavaliers were down 7 with just 13 seconds left. A stupid foul by Jameer Nelson, gifted Jarrett Jack 3 FTs. Then a 5 second turnover by Orlando, as well as 0/2 from the line and some inspiration from Dion Waiters, forced OT. Cavs win from nowhere.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are rumored to be shopping Dion Waiters, and if he's traded any of these five teams could be his future home.
NBA: A small market teams' success is solely hinged on drafting well. Since star players rarely, almost never use their free agency to go to smaller market teams, it makes the draft absolutely imperative. I think about my hometeam (Cleveland Cavaliers) and ponder the question "what if?". What if?...in 2011, after taking Kyrie Irving we would've taken Klay Thompson instead of Tristan Thompson. What if?...in 2012 we would've taken Andre Drummond at instead of Dion Waiters. What if?...in 2013 we would've taken Cody Zeller instead of Anthony Bennett. It is my hope, wish and prayer that we win the lottery again so we can draft Jabari Parker overall. But knowing them, they'll probably take a 6'-8" center from the Ukraine.

Last Updated: 12/17/13, 9:29 PM PORTLAND 119 Final CLEVELAND 116 Damian Lillard's 3-pointer in final seconds lifts Trail Blazers ESPN.com news services CLEVELAND -- The Portland Trail Blazers kept it real simple with the game on the line. Just get the ball to Damian Lillard, and get out of the way. No need for any fancy calls when Lillard's on the court. The point guard made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds remaining, lifting Portland to a 119-116 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night. "There is no explaining it," Blazers coach Terry Stotts said. "Damian had it going, so we ran it through him." Lillard had a career-high eight 3-pointers while scoring 36 points. The 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year also had a fadeaway jumper as time expired to give Portland a 111-109 overtime victory over Detroit on Sunday. Dion Waiters is back in action for the Cleveland Cavaliers - Plain Dealer
Sources say that the Cleveland Cavaliers are pursuing all-star center Andrew Bynum. Although Bynum didn't play a second last year due to a knee injury, I like his shots and want him to join the Cavs. They are only going to be able to offer a 1 yr $13-15 million dollar contract if they want to pursue LeBron in 2014 like they have planned. Potential starting 5 for 2013-14 Cavs: PG-Kyrie Irving SG-Jarret Jack or Dion Waiters (Still being discussed) SF-Anthony Bennett PF-Anderson Verajao C-Andrew Bynum That's a solid playoff team. If they get Bynum they should also have on eof the better benches in the NBA. They could have Tristan Thompson, Waiters or Jack, Zeller, CJ Miles, Earl Clark. A few more but you get the idea. Oh if you didn't know that Mike Brown (the Cavs new head coach) was the Lakers coach two years ago when Bynum played for them, then that's something that you should look into. Message me any questions you have about the Cavs 2013-14 opening roster outlook.
NBA: Evan Smith's Mock Draft: 1. Cleveland Cavaliers: Ben McLemore. McLemore was a freshman in college last year and really exploded onto the scene for the Kansas Jayhawks. He averaged 15.9 points last year, along with 5.2 rebounds, and 2 assists. The reason why he would be an optimal choice for first overall would be that the Cavs are not necessarily guard-heavy. They have a lot of solid big men, with a lot of potential like Cody Zeller, Anderson Varejao, Tristan Thompson and guys like that. I think McLemore would be a nice compliment for Dion Waiters and Kyrie Irving. Choosing Alex Len [the projected 1st overall choice] would be another big man with potential tossed onto the roster that isn't really needed for the Cavs.
1.) Cleveland Cavaliers- Nerlens Noel, PF, Kentucky (6'11", 215) Unlike the 2011 draft where Kyrie Irving was the clear cut the Cavs have their work cut out for them here. While this draft is unfortunately devoid of any franchise altering talents, Cleveland can still add a very nice piece to their rebuild in this spot. Having taken Dion Waiters with their first selection last year, it would seem to rule out Ben McLemore and Victor Oladipo from consideration, leaving Cleveland to select between Noel and Otto Porter. Porter might seem to be a better fit systematically, but Noel has a better shot at being a truly special player, which could tip the scales in his favor. While his offensive game is still very much a work in progress, he’s a game changing defensive presence that won’t have to step in right away because of the presence of Anderson Varejao, Tristan Thompson, and last year’s 1st rounder Tyler Zeller. That’s a good thing, too, because Noel is likely to miss most of the first half of the se ...
If the Cleveland Cavaliers do the smart thing and draft Ben McLemore, they may be a playoff team in 2013-2014. Their starting lineup would look like this: PG- Kyrie Irving SG- Ben McLemore SF- Alonzo Gee PF- Tristan Tompson C- Anderson Varejao and Wayne Ellington, Dion Waiters, and Tyler Zeller off the bench.

Rockstarpoetry (Official) NBA Recap: Cleveland Cavaliers 101 (19-38, 9-22 away) - Chicago Bulls 98 (32-25, 15-14 home) CHICAGO -- Dion Waiters scored 25 points to help make up for the absence of Kyrie Irving, and the Cleveland Cavaliers snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Chicago Bulls with a 101-98 victory on Tuesday night. While Irving rested a sore right knee in street clothes on the sideline, Waiters converted a fadeaway jumper and a layup before Tyler Zeller drove along the baseline for a layup that helped Cleveland open an 87-78 lead with 7:33 left in the game. The Bulls were down two when they got the ball back with 37.8 seconds left, but Luol Deng missed a long jumper and Shaun Livingston hit two free throws for Cleveland to make it 100-96. Luke Walton then forced a turnover to get the ball back for the Cavs. Livingston, starting in place of Irving, finished with 15 points as improving Cleveland held on for its third win in the last four games, bouncing back from a difficult 109-105 loss ...

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Indiana Pacers The Indiana Pacers are still muddling along with a 10-11 record but if you look closely at their schedule – especially over the past two weeks – the Pacers are exactly that: average. While that sounds simplistic, the Pacers generally beat bad teams and lose to particularly good teams. Against Cleveland – a genuinely bad team – Indiana should be able to establish a measure of dominance. More particularly, the Pacers' size in the middle with big man Roy Hibbert should be able to overwhelm the smaller front line of the Cavaliers. Indiana should be able to get to the rim on offense and it should be able to protect the rim on defense. The Pacers should also have an advantage in the realm of rebounding and will be well positioned to clog the lane whenever the Cavaliers' fleet guards, Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters, try to take the ball to the basket. This is a favorable matchup for Indiana at home, cavs did outplay lakers but every dog has its day. Pacers win

Cavaliers guard Irving cleared to practice Dec 10 2012 2:01PM Cavaliers star point guard Kyrie Irving has been cleared to practice after missing 10 games with a broken finger. Irving has been sidelined since breaking his left index finger in a Nov.18 game against Philadelphia. He played in Cleveland's following game before medical tests revealed a non-displaced fracture. Irving is practicing Monday and the Cavs expect him to play Tuesday night, when Cleveland hosts the Los Angeles Lakers. Irving had been expected to miss four weeks with the injury. The Cavs went just 2-9 without Irving, the NBA's reigning rookie of the year. Cleveland has also been missing rookie Dion Waiters, their second leading scorer. He has been sidelined with a sprained ankle. The rebuilding Cavs are just 4-17 and have lost five straight.
Brandon Knight scored 17 points, Kyle Singler and Tayshaun Prince had 15 apiece and the Detroit Pistons beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 89-79 game for their fifth straight home win. Cleveland was without guard Dion Waiters, who sat out with a sprained left ankle. Anderson Varejao had 17 points and 18 rebounds for the Cavs.
Alonzo Gee gets an Offensive Rebound and Layup with 0.4 Seconds left to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a 113-111 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Anderson Varejao led with 20 Points and 18 Rebounds. While Jeremy Pargo had 22 and Dion Waiters had 21 Points. Josh Smith led the Hawks with 25 Points while Louis Williams came off the bench with 18 Points.

An MRI on Cleveland Cavaliers rookie guard Dion Waiters revealed a contused left ring finger, but he is cleared to play. Daniel Gibson confirmed a contused right elbow, and he is day-to-day.
NBA GAME UPDATE: The Cleveland Cavaliers have finally found the 2-guard that will be next PG Kyrie Irving for years to come. Rookie SG Dion Waiters was on fire with his 3-point shooting last night, its strange because he has always been known more for his outstanding defense at Syracuse, but lately he has been more of scorer for a Cleveland them that struggle to score on offense a season ago. And every single time the Cavaliers win game is when he becomes an exceptional scorer for them. The Cavs were phenomenal defensively by forcing the clippers to turnover the ball 25 times. They made the clippers become more a jump shooting team than a team that likes to attack the basket with authority by getting to the free-throw line and scoring inside the paint. Everybody should really watch out for Cleveland Cavaliers if they continue to play this it wouldn't surprise me if they end up making the playoffs with there studs of a back-court. The Cleveland Cavaliers with brilliant scoring by there dynamic duo PG Kyri ...

Cleveland Cavaliers: D+ The Cavaliers landed two good players in Syracuse guard Dion Waiters and North Carolina center Tyler Zeller, but they overpaid horrendously. Waiters was the first stunner of the draft when Cleveland took him fourth, ahead of several players who would have been better fits and better talents. Zeller, picked 17th, should be a perfect fit but came at the cost of the 24th, 33rd and 34th picks in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks. The Cavaliers had too many holes to fill to give up so many picks for an injury prone center.
