Steve Harvey announcement at the Palace: Detroit Pistons' ball! Oh what? That's the wrong team. Sorry folks. Cleveland Cavaliers' ball!
Whom did Duncan and the Spurs beat previously? Defeating the wildly shocking Knicks was a formality in 1999. Taking down a clearly inferior New Jersey Nets team in 2003 was expected. The shellacking they dealt James' Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007 was something most saw coming. Unseating the Detroit Pistons in 2005 marked their most trying challenge. They were the reigning champs and pushed the Spurs to seven games. -B/R article

Q CLOSED - Again, happy 30th birthday to Chris Bosh, but also happy 31st birthday to TJ Ford, Texas Longhorn, player on 4 NBA teams and a Croatian team member. Both Bosh and Ford were taken in the 2003 NBA Draft, with Bosh being and Ford being Let's do the rest of the top 10 for the 2003 Draft as this was quite the draft! Try to name when the player was picked as well, if you dare... 1. Lebron James - Cleveland Cavaliers - St. Vincent-St. Mary High 2. Darko Milicic - Detroit Pistons - Hemofarm Visac 3. Carmelo Anthony - Denver Nuggets - Syracuse 4. Chris Bosh - Toronto Raptors - Georgia Tech 5. Dwayne Wade - Miami Heat - Marquette 6. Chris Kaman - Los Angeles Clippers - Central Michigan 7. Kirk Hinrich - Chicago Bulls - Kansas 8. TJ Ford - Milwaukee Bucks - Texas 9. Michael Sweetney - New York Knicks - Georgetown 10. Jarvis Hayes - Washington Wizards - Georgia
The post season is still achievable for the Cavaliers despite winning only 2 of their last 7 ball games. The NBA playoff standings for 2014 are not set in stone yet as some teams are closing in on the bottom spots. The Atlanta Hawks have gone on a dismal 1-9 run in the last 10 games, allowing the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons to close in on the 8th spot. The Charlotte Bobcats and Brooklyn Nets are not that far ahead either. So the Eastern Conference playoff positionings could easily change in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, an 2-8 showing in the last 10 games for the Denver Nuggets has likely knocked them out of playoff contention. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies are eying the bottom slots, while the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Golden State Warriors are looking to hold on.

Brandon Jennings earned his ninth double-double this season, scoring 21 points and registering 13 assists, to help the Detroit Pistons crush the Cleveland Cavaliers, 115-92. The Pistons shot 46-96 (47.9%) from the field and dominated the offensive glass, pulling down 18 boards. Detroit (14-16) picked up the win after falling to the Houston Rockets on Saturday. Jennings went 6-11 from the field (2-5 on 3-pointers) and 7-8 from the free throw line, in a quality performance offensively. Other top performers for Detroit were Josh Smith with 25 points and 8 rebounds, Rodney Stuckey with 14 points and 5 steals, and Andre Drummond with 14 points and 11 rebounds. After this year's Sixers team of youth and player development finishes the current lottery-bound season, they will enter the offseason with around $41 Million to go all HINKIE on Free Agency '14. Of course 'The Decision 2.0' looms, and the question remains...Where will Lebron James play next season?? My prediction is he stays lush in Miami, unless the Heat fail to win a 3rd championship, in which case they will try and resign Lebron as he tests Free Agency, and/or work on moving Chris Bosh. Which leaves the next question...Who can REALLY sign Lebron in 2014?? Good for us the Sixers are leading the pack.. 2014 Projected Cap Room 1) Sixers ($41 million) 2) Charlotte Bobcats ($34 million) 3) Cleveland Cavaliers ($32 million) 4) Dallas Mavericks ($37 million) 5) Detroit Pistons ($23 million) 6) Los Angeles Lakers ($30 million) 7} Orlando Magic ($36 million) 8) Phoenix Suns ($34 million) 9)Sacramento Kings ($32 million) 10) Utah Jazz ($55 million) So other than Miami, that leaves Lebron with a real possibility ...
Good morning, y'all! Today is the debut of the NBA regular season. There are 30 teams reaching for that one prestigious goal: the NBA championship! Out of 30 teams, 12 of the teams have African American head coaches. They are Jason Kidd of the Brooklyn Nets, Mike Brown of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brian Shaw of the Denver Nuggets, Maurice Cheeks of the Detroit Pistons, Mark Jackson of the Golden State Warriors, Doc Rivers of the Los Angeles Clippers, Larry Drew of the Milwaukee Bucks, Monty Williams of the New Orleans Pelicans, Mike Woodson of the New York Knicks, Jacque Vaughn of the Orlando Magic, Dwane Casey of the Toronto Raptors, and Tyrone Corbin of the Utah Jazz. Only Doc Rivers has a ring when he won the title in 2008 when he coached the Boston Celtics while Jason Kidd is the only coach who won a title as a player when he did it in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks. Brian Shaw finally got a head coaching job that was long overdue. Since he was in the shadow of legendary coach Phil Jackson, he should b ...

Why Basketball Won’t Leave Phil Jackson Alone ? In the absence of data, they are happy to speculate. The first time I met Jackson, at the end of April, rumor had it that he might become the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. (Cleveland hired Mike Brown instead.) When we met again, a week later, the rumor was that he was maybe going to be an executive for the Toronto Raptors. While that rumor was still circulating, a new rumor popped up that he had taken a job with the Detroit Pistons. (Later it emerged that he agreed only to help the team, whose owner is a friend, choose its next head coach.) Then a rumor broke that the Brooklyn Nets were after him as a possible coach and/or president and/or part-owner. What I can confirm, because I saw it with my own eyes, is that on the afternoon of Friday, May 3, Phil Jackson went shopping for groceries. I was there. I witnessed Jackson — 13-time N.B.A. champion, winningest coach in basketball history, mystical Zen spirit guide to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant and ...

Smith and Ryan Ruocco Show." Anthony did not return after injuring his right knee in the first half of Monday's 102-97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (4-17) fell to a team many thought they could beat, the Detroit Pistons (7-15).
