VIENNA, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Hollywood movie star Tom Cruise has finished a one and a half week stay here for the filming of the latest installment of the Mission Impossible series in the Austrian capital. The Kronen Zeitung newspaper reported that on Thursday evening the star was wrapping up shooting scenes for Mission Impossible 5 at the Vienna State Opera, with local reports surmising that his character in the series Ethan Hunt is tasked with stopping a terrorist attack on the venue. In addition the stars of the film including Simon Pegg filmed at the Schottenring stop on the U2 line of the subway network. Local Viennese residents reported seeing both Cruise and Pegg at the subway stop on Wednesday, where they signed autographs for fans. Cruise has reportedly now moved on to Morocco for the next stage of filming, though director Christopher McQuarrie and a team will remain in Vienna to shoot scenes until early September. The stars are expected to return in Spring, however, to shoot further scenes at the ...

'EDGE OF TOMORROW': Five Stars (Out of Five)   Tom Cruise stars in this big budget sci-fi action flick based on the Japanese 'young-adult book' (referred to as a 'light novel' in Japan) 'All You Need Is Kill', by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. It was directed by Doug Liman (who's also directed such hit movies as 'SWINGERS', 'GO', 'THE BOURNE IDENTITY', 'MR. AND MRS. SMITH' and 'JUMPER') and written by Christopher McQuarrie and Jez and John-Henry Butterworth; the Butterworths also wrote the 2010 political thriller 'FAIR GAME' (which Liman also directed). McQuarrie previously worked with Cruise on 'VALKYRIE' (which he co-wrote) and 'Jack Reacher' (which he wrote and directed). This movie also stars Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson and Noah Taylor. It's a clever and fun thrill ride that's as much a thinking man's action film as an effects filled alien/war flick.   The story begins five years into a war with an invading alien species called Mimics. The Mimics are winning and about to take control of Contine ...
Been watching some Spike Lee movies/joints and thought of an interesting question. Favorite filmmaker/actor collaborations that are underrated? We know of ones like Scorsese and DiCaprio/De Niro or Tim Burton and Johnny Depp that are more popular, but what ones are more under the radar? I've picked out Spike Lee and his composer Terence Blanchard, who have been consistently great together. And speaking of the recent Edge of Tomorrow, I think Tom Cruise and Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie have been a solid team for the past several years (I'm interested in their Mission Impossible 5). Any less popular, but consistently great collaborations from the present or past you can name?
Throw out any preconceptions of what you might think 'Edge of Tomorrow' is going to be like, because odds are you're probably wrong. Yes, we've seen the concept done before, but with this movie, it's taken apart, expanded upon, and reimagined with its own rules in a very creative and interesting way. It's smart, accessible sci-fi done with heart, humor, and of course a whole lot of cool stuff blowing up. Regardless of the premise, it's never repetitive, and it moves along at a near-perfect pace at just the right moments when it knows you've seen enough. Gorgeous effects, some really cool and original aliens, a great cast (bad *** Emily Blunt! Brendan Gleeson! Bill Freaking Paxton at his most Bill Paxton-y!), a smart script by Christopher McQuarrie that easily could've turned into cheap parody, and the usual amount of sharp, linear direction from Doug Liman. It's one of Tom Cruise's best in a while, and I highly recommend checking it out this weekend. It deserves to do well, so make it happen! Really cool ...

Jack the Giant Slayer (previously titled Jack the Giant Killer) is a 2013 American fantasy adventure film based on the English fairy tales "Jack the Giant Killer" and "Jack and the Beanstalk". The film is directed by Bryan Singer with a screenplay written by Darren Lemke, Christopher McQuarrie and Dan Studney and stars Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy and Ewan McGregor. The film tells the story of Jack, a young farmhand who must rescue a princess from a race of giants after inadvertently opening a gateway to their world. Development of Jack the Giant Slayer began in 2005, when Lemke first pitched the idea. D. J. Caruso was hired to direct the film in January 2009, but in September of that year, Caruso was replaced by Singer, who hired McQuarrie and Studney to rework the script. now famous jacket providing you Jack the Giant Slayer Distressed Jacket wear in this movie. get this outfit from our online store with free shipment on order over 200$. to b ...

Jack Reacher: a wholly entertaining and solid action thriller with fine performances; "hard boiled noir-like" dialogue and sizzling suspense. Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie delivers an engrossing procedural as Reacher, played with tough attitude by Tom Cruise, must help solve a mystery and stop the threat of a menacing criminal (Jai Courtney, in a menacing performance). It has a terrifying opening sequence; a great pacing and a knockout cast including Rosamund Pike (looking straight out of a 1940s noir), Richard Jenkins, Robert Duvall and Werner Herzog (YES!). Netflixable.
Casting Net: Tom Cruise is developing a follow-up to 2012′s Jack Reacher with Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions. The sequel will be based on Lee Child‘s Never Go Back – the 18th book in the series — where Jack is faced with a new commanding officer and a possible return to Army service. No writer or director is attached to the pic, but according to the report, all hope that Christopher McQuarrie, who directed the first film and is currently working on prepping Mission: Impossible 5 with Cruise, will return. Jason Momoa, best known for playing Khal Drogo on HBO’s Game of Thrones, is in talks for Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel follow-up, tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman. There’s no word on Momoa’s role in the secretive movie, but there has been speculation that he could be playing the villain Doomsday or the Justice League member Martian Manhunter. Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot star in the pic, set for a July 15, 2015, release. Though best known for his television work ...

When I listen to Jesse Ventura ("Conspiracy Theory" & "Demo'crips & Re'bloodlicans" etc.) or Alex Jones (Infor wars) whose sensationalism, (in my mind) could have only been rivaled by the late Steve Irwin. Fear-mongering at its best, while journalist Michael Hastings, singer Lowkey, & many other voices are silenced?! Why would they be allowed, not only to live, but to publicly theorize, unless it was furthering an agenda all ready set in motion? There is a quote, "The devil's greatest accomplishment, was convincing the world he doesn't exist." Because this sentiment has achieved such wide pop culture exposure, I am unable 2 properly credit the original source~A French poet Charles Baudelaire, Jim Carroll, Christopher McQuarrie ("The Usual Suspects" Kevin Spacey) frequently credited to religious writings including the Bible & the Qur'an. In the Arabic language a Kafir is usually translated as "unbeliever" or "disbeliever", or sometimes "infidel". But the lack of logic in this argument seems lost on most .. ...
Jack Reacher (dir. Christopher McQuarrie) The first section of the film is absolutely riveting. A lone shooter is setting up in a parking garage across the Allegheny River from PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pa, and the viewer is mesmerized as he draws down on a handful of apparently random victims. It's a beautiful montage that delivers a maximum of information without a word of dialogue. The film loses steam when Tom Cruise begins his portrayal of Jack Reacher. Best selling author Lee Child's fictional character, Jack Reacher, is well known to millions of avid fans as a man 6'5" tall with a 50-inch chest, and weighing between 220 and 250 pounds. He's a brooding and taciturn hulk of human menace utterly lacking in remorse, and to cast Tom Cruise in the role is utterly preposterous. With a more convincing actor in the lead role, this film could have been truly wonderful, but when the central character is so horribly miscast the film sinks to the level of a run-of-the-mill action flick. For me the best acting in ...

The Wolverine is an upcoming American/Australian superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine and is intended to be the sixth installment in the X-Men film series. Hugh Jackman reprises his role from previous films as the title character, with James Mangold directing a screenplay written by Christopher McQuarrie, Scott Frank, and Mark Bomback, based on the 1982 limited series Wolverine by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller. McQuarrie was hired to write a screenplay for The Wolverine in August 2009. In October 2010, Darren Aronofsky was hired to direct the film. The project was delayed following Aronofsky's departure and the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in March 2011. In June 2011, Mangold was brought on board to replace Aronofsky and Bomback was hired to rewrite the screenplay in September 2011. The supporting characters were cast in July 2012 with principal photography beginning at the end of the month in New South Wales before moving to Tokyo in August 2012 and back to New South W ...
Drew Pearce Talks M:I 5, SHERLOCK HOLMES 3 And IRON MAN 4 In an interview with What Culture, Iron Man 3 co-writer Drew Pearce talks about being hired to tackle Paramount's next Mission: Impossible film, which will see Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt and may be directed by Jack Reacher's Christopher McQuarrie. He compares the franchise to Marvel's approach to its movies (primarily Phase Two), as in that both offer something different with each installment. He also says that he was initially reluctant to work on yet another sequel, but he decided to accept the job since he's a fan of the franchise. He also offers an update on Warner Bros.' next Sherlock Holmes film, saying that the threequel is "paused" right now due to his working on Mission: Impossible 5 and Robert Downey Jr. filming another movie this summer. Finally, Pearce shares his thoughts on the possibility of returning for a fourth Iron Man film, stating that he and Downey need to crack a story that would be on par with the third movie (if not gre ...
Iron Man 3 Scribe Drew Pearce Writing Mission: Impossible 5 When your film makes nearly $1 billion in two weeks, you kind of get the opportunity to pick from the cream of the crop for your next project. So Iron Man 3 director Shane Black gets to tackle the Doc Savage movie he has been circling for years. And screenwriter Drew Pearce, according to THR, gets a crack at the massive Mission: Impossible series. The trade says that Pearce, a co-writer on Marvel’s hit movie, has been hired by Paramount to write the fifth Impossible. Tom Cruise will star and co-produce, while J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot will assist. THR says that Cruise’s Jack Reacher collaborator, Christopher McQuarrie, remains the top choice to direct the fifth M:I movie, but nothing has been inked just yet. Cruise Pearce seems like a fine choice for the as-yet-untitled M:I 5. He and Black conceived some immense set pieces for Tony Stark to leap through in Iron Man 3, including that mid-air rescue from Air Force One, and the final face off bet ...

Warner Bros. is remaking the Cold War thriller Ice Station Zebra and has tapped Christopher McQuarrie to write and direct it. our editor ..
As we mentioned earlier today, Christopher McQuarrie is top of Paramount and Tom Cruise’s wishlist to direct Mission: Impossible 5, but while he mulls that over, the filmmaker has been hired to write and direct a remake of Ice Station Zebra for Warner Bros, according to THR.
My Review of Jack Reacher: A well made thriller with incredible directing range from Christopher McQuarrie. The background music was suspenseful, keeping you attentive and curious. The story carries a 1970s/80s style, bringing back the past like THE FRENCH CONNECTION, DIRTY HARRY, BULLIT, WITNESS, early LETHAL WEAPONS and all the way to the early 90s, PATRIOT GAMES (92'). Worth the watch. My only regret is that I should have seen this in theaters. Better yet, I should have seen this instead of LES MISERABLES (no offense to that film). Worth the watch. Cruise is still nuts but you gotta' love him for keeping his style and career for more than 20 years. Bravo!

Tom Cruise's Jack Reacher, the Christopher McQuarrie directed pic based on the novel "One Shot" by Lee Child, was meant to kick off a new franchise for the actor, who stands as the highest paid of his caliber.  The movie didn't set U.S. audiences on fire, earning just $79 million to date, which
Movie Musick UK Review: Joe Kraemer - Jack Reacher Original Review by Jonathan Broxton Jack Reacher is a new action-thriller film directed by Christopher McQuarrie, based on the popular character created by author Lee Child. This film is based on the plot of the novel “One Shot”, and stars Tom Cruise in the title role as an ex-military investigator called in to help ambitious defense attorney Helen Rodin (Rosamund Pike), who sees something wrong with the apparently open-and-shut case of a former military sniper accused of killing five innocent civilians along Pittsburgh’s Allegheny River waterfront. Helped and hindered by dogged police detective Emerson (David Oyelowo) and district attorney Alex Rodin (Richard Jenkins) – Helen’s father and legal opponent – Reacher discovers that there is much more to the story than meets the eye, and that a shadowy figure known only as The Zec (Werner Herzog) may be behind it all. Director McQuarrie, still best known for winning an Oscar for writing The Usual ...
Jack Reacher franchise hangs in the balance: We quite enjoyed Christopher McQuarrie's movie of Lee Child's Jack ...
Jack Reacher 2012 5/10   Truth: I have been really on-the-fence about Tom Cruise for several years now.  I have never exactly been a member of his fan club, or one of those women who swoons over him, but some of his behavior has left a bad taste in my mouth.  I have friends who won’t watch any of his movies anymore, but I’m still willing depending on the movie. When I saw the previews for Jack Reacher, I was not super excited but figured I’d probably go see it as I am a big fan of police/military type procedural movies.  I didn’t realize until after the fact that this movie was directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who won the best screenplay Oscar in 1996 for The Usual Suspects, one of my all time favorite detective mysteries.  That would have definitely contributed to my decision to see this one!   Jack Reacher is based on the Lee Child novel One Shot.  The story centers around a sniper shooting that takes out 5 seemingly unrelated, innocent civilians in Pittsburgh.  It seems like a cut an ...

"Movies are a reflection of life," director Christopher McQuarrie said at a Jack Reacher press event at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in New York last Monday. "Violence is a very real part of life and I don't think you could make movies without depicting it - the movies themselves would become fairly bland. Reacher Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie (he wrote “The Usual Suspects”) has a good feel for hard-boiled theatrics, and the plot – which has to do with a sniper shooting and the clearing of an innocent man – is well-engineered.
with the worst trailer & ads I have seen in awhile... Jack Reacher is the best POPCORN movie of this chilly winter. Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie paces the story just right...he hints at but stays away from the romance btwn PIKE & CRUISE then mixes in a fun Robert Duvall & scary (Director)Werner Herzog making this a movie to see in the dark with strangers.
