Josh Lueke couldn't get it done on the hill for the Rays, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs. The bottom of the first saw the Rays take an early lead, 1-0. The Rays got things going when Desmond Jennings singled. A stolen base then moved Jennings from first to second and eventually scored. The Rays posted one run in each of the third, fifth and sixth. In the third, the Rays scored on a sacrifice fly by Matt Joyce, bringing home Ryan Hanigan. Congratulations to Assumption Alumnus Chris Colabello '05 for getting called up to the majors today to join the Minnesota Twins! Assumption is very proud of you and wishes you the best of luck!
Former Nashua Pride player Chris Colabello of Milford, Mass. made his Major League debut at age 29 playing right field for the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. Colabello hit the first pitch he saw for a line drive out to right, went 0 for 4 but saw a lifelong dream come true. "He deserves every second of it," former Pride general manager Chris Hall said. "He's never stopped chasing the dream." Colabello was called up to the Twins late Tuesday night.
Congrats to Chris Colabello on making his MLB debut with Twins today! He was playing in the Independent Leagues with Worcester less than 2 years ago! Another amazing underdog story!
In this moment of dour Minnesota Twins news, here's to Chris Colabello. He wasn't drafted out of college. Never got to play Rookie League or Class A. No, he played Independent League ball. For seven years. The Twins noticed him a couple of years ago and he got a shot at AA. All he's done is hit the cover off the ball all his life, so he made it to AAA this spring. And today, at age 29, Colabello got the call. He's going to the majors. I'd say attakid, but he's not that much younger than me, so hit a homer in your next game and maybe I won't feel so old.
Former Assumption baseball standout Chris Colabello ’05 has been promoted to the Minnesota Twins, as announced Wednesday by the organization.
Former Milford High School graduate Chris Colabello in the lineup for the Minnesota Twins today playing Right Field! Congratulations Chris! Colabello was batting a .358 through 46 games with the Rochester Redwings
For the second time this week the Twins have called up a player they signed out of an Independent League. First it was reliever Caleb Thielbar and now it’s first baseman Chris Colabello, who signed with the Twins last year after dominating in the Canadian-American Association. Colabello is 29 years…

Lost in all the Chris Colabello excitement, which is very warranted, I hope gets well soon. Nobody likes a concussion!
Huge shout out and congrats to Chris Colabello getting the call to the big leagues! Keep doing work son! Very proud of you my man!
We want game 3! Tune into FOX Sports North NOW, the first pitch is about to go out! -K
Congrats to Chris Colabello. The hard work has paid off.
Twins game at 11 a.m. - hope those Braves fans are too hung over to drone on and on with that tomahawk chant. Man, I hate that.
Here come the cavalary... Well... Not that dramatic but the Twins are making some moves and a horse or two is on the way. Last night... Perkins gave up a two out pinch hit home run to Evan Gattis to send the game to extras and the Twins lost in 10 innings after being one out away from a win. That happens... Closers don't close them all. Today's story isn't about the game. It's about Sam Deduno and Chris Colabello. Both these players are being called up and hopefully they can provide a spark... A much needed spark. Sam Deduno is a 29 year old career minor league pitcher with electric stuff and control problems. He pitched fairly well for the Twins last season and pitched extremely well in the WBC for the Domincian Republic. Sam was the starting pitcher who shut down the loaded Team USA team with Joe Mauer and Adam Jones. He was also the starting pitcher in the championship game that was won by the Dominican Republic. He pitched very very well in both of those games. Deduno has stuff that moves. His fastbal ...

The Minnesota Twins just called up a good friend and former teammate of mine Chris Colabello! The hard work along this winding, and grinding road has paid off! Noone deserves it more!
Chris Colabello is being called up to the Twins Major League roster today!! Chris was a former teammate and close friend of mine at Assumption College. He dominated the Independent League as a member of the Worcester Tornadoes for seven years before he was finally signed by the Twins. In his first year in AA for the Twins, he broke the team record for RBI's. This year in AAA he's hitting .358 with a 12 Home Runs (leading the league in HR's), 17 doubles, and 39 RBI's through the first month and a half of this season. Congratulations to Chris! Good luck!

Wow, Chris Colabello, who went to same school as one of my prep football teammates (who broke Howie Long's weight lifting record), on Twins.
ICYMI: Chris Colabello has been promoted to Minnesota, marking the second consecutive week that Taylor, the Prospect Octopus has highlighted a Rochester player, only to see that player called up. Spooky.
Today s a great day for my boys and myself. The boys hitting coach Chris Colabello has made it to the big leagues. This is so deserved. Good luck and keep raking.
Yes!! So excited to see Chris Colabello get called up for the twins. What an amazing story! A 29 year old player that was out of MLB for 7 years, now starting for the Twins tomorrow!
Assumption College grad Chris Colabello '05 hit .586 last week for the Triple A Rochester Red Wings and was again named the International League Batter of the Week! How has he followed THAT up? With a grand slam in last night's game! He leads the league in hits, homers, and runs batted in! Go Hounds!
Chris Colabello drives a ball to center but it's an easy out for outfielder Anthony Gose. Buffalo Bisons 5, Rochester Red Wings 2 Final
Chris Colabello's at-bat music is "Return of the Mack." 90s nostalgia masked as humor. I'm for it.
Chris Colabello has Return of the Mack as his walk up song.
Great story on Chris Colabello and Team Italy at the WBC - as if you needed another reason to root for
WBC backstory: Chris Colabello credits Alex Maestri's father with saving his life. Now they are starring for Italy.
PHOENIX -- All the humiliation and disbelief of a stunning loss to Italy four years ago was bad enough. It was unfathomable for Canada that history would repeat itself at the World Baseball Classic. But history didn't just turn on Canada -- it crushed a team that now needs two unlikely wins and a mathematical miracle to reach the second round. Chris Colabello hit a three-run homer as Italy beat Canada 14-4 in a game that was ended by the mercy rule in the eighth inning Friday after not one, but two walk-off victories. The first came on what appeared to be a grand slam by Mike Costanzo. Italy, which swarmed the field to celebrate, was forced back to the dugout after replay showed the hit was a ground-rule double that scored only two runners. But one batter later, Mario Chiarini's single scored the run that put Italy ahead by the 10-run limit and sent Canada slumping to the locker-room. "Obviously we weren't happy coming into the clubhouse," said outfielder Michael Saunders. "Baseball's a grind, man. Baseba ...
What is going on? Canada's got heavy hitters like former NL MVP Joey Votto (Cincinnati) and former AL MVP Justin Morneau (Minnesota) in their line-up and they lose 14-4 to Italy! ITALY?!?!? The big hitters for Italy were Chris Colabello (who?), a rookie trying to catch on with Minnesota, and Mario Chiarini (again, WHO??), a guy who couldn't even catch on with anyone when he gave North American baseball a shot way back in 2000. He went back and spent his career in Italy.
Chris Colabello's three-run homer highlighted a four-run third, and the Italians never looked back against the Canadians, moving to 2-0 in Pool D. Colabello had three other hits for Team Italy, which.
