Arsenal Arsene Wenger’s decision to go into the season with only five experienced defenders always looked a gamble and there have been times when Calum Chambers has looked like a young man asked to do too much too soon. That might be an area Arsenal look to bolster with Winston Reid a reported target, while the long-standing need for a holding midfielder continues. Wenger insists he’s not afraid to spend on the right player but supporters will be anxious for activity nevertheless. Lukas Podolski's proposed loan move to Inter Milan will give him room to recruit. Aston Villa With Fabian Delph and Ron Vlaar both out of contract in the summer, Villa might have a battle on their hands to emerge from the window with the squad at the same level as before, let alone stronger. Jose Mourinho appeared on BT Sports’ “Clare Balding Meets” in the UK over the holiday and, to our great amusement, revealed some funny stories of his days with Mario Balotelli at Inter Milan. For instance, one day Balotelli snubbed a meeting at Mourinho’s office … to go watch Formula 1 qualifying. "He said, ‘meetings in your office I can have every day, but to see the Formula 1 is only once a year in Italy’. A couple of days later I had to laugh," Mourinho said. When asked what Balotelli’s autobiography would be like, the Chelsea boss replied: ‘A funny book, a good book!’ No kidding, huh? "I could write a book of 200 pages of my two years at Inter with Mario, but the book would not be a drama – it would be a comedy," Mourinho quipped. Here’s one story that would definitely make the book: "I remember one time when we went to play Kazan in the Champions League. In that match I had all my strikers injured. No Diego Milito, no Samuel Eto'o, I was really in trouble and Mario was the onl ...
Jose Mourinho not impressed by Roberto Di Matteo's Chelsea success Jose Mourinho insists he is not motivated by the thought of matching Roberto Di Matteo's achievement of winning the Champions League with Chelsea. Instead the Portuguese wants to set about building his next great team at Stamford Bridge, one that is capable of challenging for the trophy which has so far eluded him during his time in West London. Having delivered European Cups whilst in charge at Porto and Inter Milan, Mourinho so far has not been able to repeat the feat with Chelsea - whose one and only success in the competition came under Di Matteo's stewardship in 2012. But this season has started promisingly for the Blues, who are unbeaten in all competitions and sit clear at the top of the Premier League. Progression into the knockout stages of the Champions League can be attained with a victory over Di Matteo's Schalke side in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday evening but Mourinho is not thinking about having to equal the Italian's triumphs d ...

Louis Van Gaal praises 'top manager' Jose Mourinho Van Gaal says the Portuguese is the best in the business Louis Van Gaal's Manchester United will face Chelsea at Old Trafford later today, marking only the second time the Dutchman has faced his former apprentice from Barcelona. The first time being the 2-0 Champions League Final defeat to Mourinho's Inter Milan side whilst in charge at Bayern Munich in 2010, and last night, Van Gaal spoke about his ex-colleague with praise and admiration of his work, saying that Mourinho is 'one of the top managers in the world'. “Of course. Maybe he hasn’t won as many titles as I have won but in a shorter time he has won the championship in more than three countries (four – Portugal, England, Italy and Spain),” Van Gaal acknowledged. “I am the next on three (Holland, Spain and Germany) and I also want to do it here, then I am equal again. I think he is one of the top managers in the world.” The 63-year-old also commended Chelsea summer signing Cesc Fabregas, ...
Van Gaal DROPS RONALDO HINT It looks like talk of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Man United is going to run and run (until he signs a new contract, at least) with Louis Van Gaal dropping another hint about his interest in the forward on Friday. "Yes, but it's always a discussion in the papers, and I don't think the media shall buy Ronaldo," he told reporters. "It is possible. That's what I have said with Falcao. Players like Ronaldo give a lot of extra to a team, but I don't think Real Madrid shall sell him." Perhaps not, but it's pretty clear United have the moolah to tempt Ronaldo if he is giving serious thought about leaving Spain. Full story here. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho comments on relationship with Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo ose Mourinho is fondly remembered by his former FC Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan players, but not so by the Real Madrid ones. That’s because during the end of his three-year spell as the Spanish club’s coach, he fell out with pretty much all the members of the team. Luka Modric, Diego Lopez and Michael Essien (on loan from Chelsea to Madrid for 2012-13) were reportedly just a handful of players who did not fall out with Mourinho. / gettyimages.com Fellow Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo backed Mourinho until towards the end of the 2012-13 campaign when the now Chelsea manager claimed that Madrid started the 2012-13 league season ‘in a sad state’, alluding to the 29-year-old’s revelation of being sad at the club back in September 2012. Mourinho won La Liga and the Copa del Rey once each at Madrid and led the team to three successive Champions League semi-finals, but his time in the Spanish capital is replete w ...
Samuel Eto’o thanks Mourinho Samuel Eto’o has rubbished talk of a rift with Jose Mourinho as he prepares for the possibility of an Everton debut against his old boss, Sky Sports reports. Eto’o was part of Mourinho’s Champions League-winning side at Inter Milan and came to England a year ago to rejoin the Portuguese at Chelsea. But the pair’s relationship was questioned when Mourinho was caught on camera joking about Eto’o’s age, and the 33-year-old left Stamford Bridge in the summer before joining Everton this week. Samuel Eto’o claims Jose Mourinho was wrong to question his age – but insists he bears no grudges against his Former Chelsea boss. Eto’o dismissed Mourinho as a “fool” and a “puppet” for suggesting the striker was older than he claimed during his loan spell at Chelsea last season. Now, Eto’o has joined Everton on a free transfer, signing a two-year deal. And he admitted at his unveiling on Wednesday that he was annoyed by Mourinho’s dig. But the three-times Champions League winner says he will still shake the Special One’s hand when Chelsea come to Goodison Park on Saturday. “It was a mistake,” said the former Barcelona and Inter Milan hitman of the comment about his age. “It annoyed me and disturbed me a little. “Sometimes I would say to myself, ‘Why?’. But the most important thing is what you do on the ball and I just got my head down and worked. I’ve got no problems with Jose Mourinho and I’ll shake his hand on Saturday.” Eto’o, 33, managed to score 12 goals in h ...
Eto’o, who on Tuesday signed a two year contract with English Premier League side Everton, played just one match — a 1-0 defeat to Mexico — in his fourth World Cup campaign (1998, 2002, 2010, 2014). Capped 116 times, he won two Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2000 and 2008, a competition in which he is the all-time leading scorer with 18 goals. He is also Cameroon’s record scorer with 55 goals. His biggest triumph with the national side was winning Olympic gold in Sydney in 2000. Despite his failure to inspire his team on the World Cup stage he won trophies with all his clubs including Champions League titles – two with Barcelona and one with Inter Milan. As well as his four African player of the year titles he was also the top scorer in La Liga en 2006.
Mario Balotelli is heading back to the Premier League. Mario Balotelli, the Milan striker has agreed on a 16 million pounds (20 million euros) move to Liverpool. As per reports, the 24-year-old Italian striker has bid farewell to his teammates at the San Siro ahead of his proposed move. "Today is my last day in Milan and I am going to Liverpool," Sky Italia reported him as saying. Balotelli's agent, Mino Raiola, is apparently having a series of meetings with Liverpool representatives to agree personal terms over a deal that would see the striker return to the Premier League after just 18 months in the Serie A. The former Inter Milan striker joined the Rossoneri from Manchester City for just over 20 million euros last January and went on to score 26 goals in 43 league appearances for Milan. Man City had paid 30 million euros to Inter, with whom he won three Scudettis and a Champions League title (2010), to acquire his services in 2010. He helped the Eastlands club win the FA Cup in 2011 and the Premier Leag ...
Four reasons why Manchester United will secure a top four finish By Omar Hamouda Posted on August 13, 2014 There is renewed optimism around Old Trafford this summer and rightly so. The arrival of Louis Van Gaal has rubbed excitement onto the shoulders of Manchester United players and fans alike, with the Dutchman already proving his worth despite the fact he is yet to open his Premier League account. After a calamitous 2013/14 season which saw the Red Devils finish not only seventh, but also manager-less, Van Gaal has had to work hard to restore sanity to the club. A tremendous pre-season so far has seen the club defeat Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Roma, as well as beating rivals Liverpool to win the International Champions Cup. Such showings have left the fans dreaming of more success and with experts and fans making their usual Premier League predictions ahead of the start of the campaign, here are four reasons why the club will definitely be experiencing Champions League football this time next year. 4 ...
Everton and West Ham are also tracking the Cameroon international, who spent last season at Chelsea, though the veteran's wage demands may prove something of an obstacle. Eto'o is seemingly interested in a move to Anfield but has demanded a basic salary of £135k a week with Liverpool countering with a lower wage that would include performance related add-ons. Having seen his side's move for QPR's Loic Remy fall through Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to bring in a proven goal-scorer to offer support to Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert. Eto'o netted 12 goals in all competitions for the Blues last term and is a player with a real pedigree though clearly he isn't the player he once was. Samuel Eto'o netted 129 goals in his five season spell at Barcelona and racked up 53 goals during his two seasons at Inter Milan and is a three time Champions League winner. Brendan Rodgers has however agreed a deal with Sevilla for left-back Alberto Moreno worth an initial £12m which coul rise to £16m.

CHELSEA are ready to sell John Obi Mikel as they look to muscle in on Arsenal's move for Real Madrid and Germany star Sami Khedira. Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen on adding another midfielder to his squad before the start of the new Premier League campaign, and with a £60million move for Juventus' Paul Pogba starting to look unlikely, the Special One is keen to land £20million Khedira. Chelsea have a number of players competing for places in the centre of the pitch, including former Gunners hero Cesc Fabregas, but one man who looks set to leave is Nigeria international Mikel. The 27-year-old started in just 11 league games last season, and reports in Italy claim he has been offered to a number of Serie A teams including Inter Milan for around £10million. Mikel, who joined Chelsea from Lyn in controversial circumstances after initially agreeing a deal with Manchester United, has made 206 appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge, picking up a Premier League and Champions League winner's medal as ...

Sneijder, 30, the joint top scorer at the 2010 World Cup, when he scored five goals, and a Champions League winner at Inter Milan, has spent the last 18 months at Galatasaray. Speaking at a news conference prior to the Netherlands' game against Australia, he said: "I am happy at Galatasaray, I have established myself at the club and have settled in. "However, if Van Gaal were to make me an offer, I would have to at least consider it. Nobody from the Netherlands can simply reject Van Gaal. Glaring error in the caption under the picture. Internazionale (Inter Milan) won the Champions League in 2009, AC Milan won in 2007. Tsk tsk.
Manchester United are heading to the United States this summer for Tour 2014, presented by Aon, and will renew rivalries with some of world's top clubs. In addition to Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and AS Roma, the Reds will face Italian outfit Inter Milan at FedEx Field in Washington DC on 29 July, in the International Champions Cup. The last time the two giants met was in 2009, when Sir Alex Ferguson's men took on Jose Mourinho's side in the last 16 of the Champions League. After a tense 0-0 draw in the first leg, goals from Nemanja Vidic and Cristiano Ronaldo were enough to secure the Reds a place in the quarter-finals. Relive the action in the video. Vidic, of course, is set to feature in the tour match next month in the colours of Inter, having recently called time on his illustrious Old Trafford career. As new manager Louis Van Gaal takes his place in the United dug-out for only the third time. Enjoy! Hope United perform like Champions throughout the season. Last night's result has thrown up some fascinating reaction from people around the world. Real Madrid seem to have done an act of blasphemy by putting up such a stunning performance, not just last night but throughout the Champions League and most of the La Liga season.     Football fans who are not biased fanatics of a single team... (and lets be honest there will hardly be any from Atletico since the beginning of the season) seem to have found extreme loyalty for the Los Rojiblancos. And when you think of it, the underdogs have always received that.     It was Atletico Madrid this season, BVB Dortmund the last time, Bayern Munich twice the years before. Then there was Inter Milan who went on to win it in 09-10. Liverpool with their Istanbul comeback. Porto when Mourinho came in the limelight.     And these are just a few that I could think of.     Come to think of these examples and most of the times, all that these teams end up achieving is a single successful reason. There is no increased inco ...

Manchester United Defender Patrice Evra Set to Join Juventus According to Le 10 Sport newspaper in France, Manchester United’s French left-back Patrice Evra is set to join Italian Serie A champions Juventus. With Luke Shaw likely to join United from Southampton, Evra will be on his way over to Turin. Under Evra’s current contract he has an option for an additional year, but it seems as though the Manchester club do not wish to extend the defender's deal any further than this summer. Evra makes £90,000-a-week and is believed to want to stay in Europe to continue his career at the top level. He arrived at Old Trafford in 2006 and has enjoyed a lot of success with the club, winning a Champions League title as well as five Premier League crowns. But if Louis Van Gaal takes over as manager he will be looking for a younger crop of players to take the club forward. Inter Milan has signed Nemanja Vidic and the Italian team are also keen on Evra. They may look to scupper a deal from their Italian rivals, howe ...
Manchester, May 14 2014: Departing Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has denied the players failed to give their all for former manager David Moyes. "There is no question over any of the players," Vidic told the BBC. "They did everything that was asked of them. "Sometimes you do things well, sometimes you don`t. But the desire was there. They tried really hard. "From the first day until the last you didn`t hear any player say anything bad about the training. That shows the players have respect for the manager." Moyes was sacked in April, only 10 months into a six-year contract, after United failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1995/96. Vidic, who is set to join Inter Milan after playing the last of his 300 games for United against Southampton on Sunday, said there were no dressing-room fallouts with Moyes and the only arguments were between players desperate to improve. "I am not saying we have had a good season. It was a bad time and the players could have done better ...
WORDS WITH: JOSE MORAIS When Jose Mourinho returned to Chelsea last summer, there was just one key person involved in the preparation of the First Team who needed an introduction. The manager and his methods were of course well known at Stamford Bridge and assistant First Team coach Steve Holland, goalkeeper coach Christophe Lollichon and First Team fitness coach Chris Jones provided continuity from the preceding seasons. Returning with Mourinho were his fellow Portuguese assistants Rui Faria and Silvino Louro, who have been with him from prior to his first time at Chelsea. However there was one new face in the backroom team as this season commenced, another Portuguese with a wide football experience from managing teams on different continents, including a national side. He first met Mourinho in the early days of their respective coaching careers, and joined him at Inter Milan where he assisted in the winning of the Champions League and domestic league and cup honours, and at Real Madrid where league and ...
Interesting stats on Jose Mourinho - he has managed four teams in Champions League semi-finals, appearing on eight occasions - that's 16 matches, 1 with Porto, 3 with Chelsea, 1 with Inter Milan and 3 with Real Madrid - with a total of 13 goals - entertaining stuff! Talk about Boreinho! Chelsea have been in the semi-finals of the Champions League six times - three times under Mourinho (2 goals in total, losing all three ties) and three times under other managers (eight goals in total, winning two out of three ties).
Manchester United have the most supporters worldwide according to Voetbal International. The Red Devils have topped a list which has been put together by the Dutch football magazine with help from research firms. The 20-time English champions, 11- time FA Cup winners and three-time European title holders reportedly have over 350 million fans around the world. In second place, behind United, sits Catalan giants Barcelona who have won the La Liga on 22 occasions, the European Cup/Champions League four times and the Copa del Rey a record 26 times. The Blaugrana are around 80 million behind the Red Devils with 270 million supporters worldwide. Barcelona’s Spanish rivals Real Madrid , winners of 32 Spanish league titles and nine European Cups, are third with 174 million fans ahead of popular English Premier League side Chelsea on 135 million. In fifth position sits the Blues’ London rivals Arsenal who are followed by Italian giants AC Milan, current Premier League leaders Liverpool , Italy’s Inter Milan, ...
THREE Reasons Why Chelsea WILL Win The Champions League The semi-finalists for the Champions League are now confirmed - Chelsea will go up against one of Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. The draw is on Friday, but whoever they get I think Chelsea will win the tournament. Here are three reasons why. 1) Jose Mourinho The Portuguese coach has vast experience across European Football and knows exactly what is needed to win the competition. Mourinho won the Champions League against all odds whilst in charge of Porto, and then picked up the trophy when at Inter Milan. If there is one coach who you'd want in charge going into the Champions League semi-final it would be him. 2) Solid defence John Terry and Gary Cahill are one of the best central pairings I have seen this season. They are half of the Premier League's tightest defence and have proved to be a tough nut to crack in Europe. Atletico Madrid have Diego Costa, Real Madrid have Cristiano Ronaldo and Bayern Munich have a host of top-class att ...
Mourinho hails "special" Blues (PA) Tuesday 8 April 2014 Share 0 Mourinho hails "special" Blues © AFP Jose Mourinho believes Chelsea's "special spirit" was key in overcoming Paris St Germain and will worry whoever is pitted against them in the Uefa Champions League semi-finals. Having suffered a 3-1 defeat in the French capital last week it looked a big ask for the West Londoners to progress from their quarter-final against the big-spending Parisians. However, substitute Andre Schurrle gave Chelsea hope in the first half and fellow replacement Demba Ba - a boyhood PSG fan - netted late on to secure a 2-0 win that saw them progress on away goals, with the tie ending 3-3 on aggregate. It stretches Mourinho's unbeaten run in European quarter-finals to nine and, having won the tournament with Porto and Inter Milan, raises possibility of Chelsea repeating their 2012 success. "We are in the semi-finals and if the quarter-finals had eight fantastic teams, imagine the four that are going to reach the semi-finals ...
AZPILICUETA: PAST LAST EIGHT There is a range of Champions League experience throughout the Chelsea squad aiming to overcome Paris Saint-Germain tonight. There are those who have made it to the pinnacle and lifted the famous 'cup with the big ears', and there are those, as Jose Mourinho has emphasised, who are new this season to the knockout stages of this tournament. There is also Cesar Azpilicueta who is not fresh to the Champions League quarter-finals but is determined to make it on to the next step for the first time. In the Spaniard's two seasons in France at PSG's big rivals Marseille, the club progressed to the second stage although having played in the group games in the first campaign, a knee injury meant Azpilicueta was absent when they were knocked out by Manchester United in the Round of 16. In 2011/12 however he was there for an impressive run through a tough group and then beyond Inter Milan in the last 16 before meeting Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. 'We did well in the two years I wa ...
Howard Webb TO OFFICIATE Atletico Madrid VS BARCELONA English referee Howard Webb has been appointed referee of the Uefa Champions League quarter final second leg meeting between FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, UEFA has announced. The 44-year-old, who is a father of three, has been an international referee (FIFA badge) since 2005. His best year to date has been 2010, when he refereed both the Champions League Final in Madrid, which saw Inter Milan beat Bayern Munich 2-0, as well as the World Cup Final in South Africa. That final saw Spain lift their first World Cup after an extra time goal by Andrés Iniesta gave them the win over the Netherlands. Webb has been included in the list of referees for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, having also refereed at the Confederations Cup last summer, where he was in charge of Spain’s goalless semi-final against Italy. Barcelona has not known defeat whenever Webb has been in charge. The Englishman had been in charge for Barça’s group stage wins against Sha ...
he must be the only player with such a record of not-winning it... "Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says his best chance of winning the Champions League is by staying at Paris St-Germain. A number of Barcelona players would like to see Fernando Torres arrive on a possible loan deal this summer,[football] direct newsunderstands. The Spanish striker is set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after failing to impress Jose Mourinho and failing to live up to his £50m price tag, which the Blues paid Liverpool back in 2011. Former club Atletico Madrid have been credited with interest, whilst Italian side Inter Milan have also shown interest. However,[FDN]understand that a number of Spanish international players at Barcelona are growing keen on the idea of Torres joining the club on a short-term basis. Barcelona fans and close media men have often called for a 'Plan B' striker to add cover for the likes of Pedro, Alexis Sanchez and Neymar and it is understood that the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique would welcome Torres to the Nou Camp. "Torres came here in 2012 and scored in front of the Nou Camp crowd, it sent Barca out of the Champions League and he has ...

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, insisting that the Sweden international was a dream to coach at Inter Milan. Ibrahimovic famously fell out with Pep Guardiola, who has had plenty of run-ins with Mourinho, during his ill-fated spell with Barcelona in 2009/10. However, the Blues boss has described working with the world-class striker as "easy" rather than a chore. When asked by Yahoo what it was like to coach Ibrahimovic, Mourinho responded: “Easy, easy. I don’t understand when people say he is a difficult guy to work with or a difficult personality. “A difficult personality [is] when you have to work with people who don’t want to win or don’t want to improve. When you have somebody that is a winner and wants to win all the time and wants to be the best and is not afraid of the big responsibilities, I think he is very, very easy. “I only coached him for a year but it was a good year, a good experience and I rate him as one of the ...

Italian giants Inter Milan are reportedly planning a summer move for Chelsea’s defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel. Inter, under the new ownership of Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir, are keen on building a strong squad for next season and believe that they have a chance of luring Mikel to the San Siro. The Nigerian joined Chelsea in 2006 and has made over 200 appearances for the London club. Mikel has also won one Premier League title, four FA Cups, one League Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League during his stay at Chelsea. The 26-year old, however, faces increasing competition from the likes of Nemanja Matic, Ramires and the ever present Frank Lampard for a spot in Chelsea’s central midfield duo. Mikel has started just 9 games for Chelsea in the Premier League this season. The midfielder has made 20 appearances in the League and has a goal and an assist to show for his efforts. Chelsea have supposedly put a £12.5m price tag on the Nigerian, while Inter are hoping they can negotiate a ...
Paolo Maldini has told La Gazzetta dello Sport that AC Milan are "throwing away 10 years of hard work" and pointed the finger at general manager Adriano Galliani The Rossoneri are currently enduring one of their worst spells of form in the last two decades. "Not so much for the results, because it's already hap ...

Simeone not scared of anyone as Atletico roll back the years • Argentine coach hails players after victory over AC Milan • Spanish side could draw Real Madrid or Barcelona in quarters When Atletico Madrid were knocked out in the Champions League quarter-finals by Ajax Amsterdam in 1997, midfielder Diego Simeone could scarcely have imagined it would be 17 years before they reached the last eight again. Almost two decades later, Simeone is now coaching the La Liga side and Tuesday's dominant 4-1 home victory against seven-times winners AC Milan, which put Atletico through to the quarter-finals 5-1 on aggregate, was the latest evidence he has moulded his unfancied squad into genuine European contenders. In much the same way as he did as a combative midfielder for Argentina and clubs including Atletico, Inter Milan and Lazio, Simeone's players harried and hassled Milan from the start and they looked dangerous nearly every time they broke forward. Brazil-born forward Diego Costa, who scored twice to follow ...

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o said it will take more than manager Jose Mourinho's comments about his age to put him off his game. Eto'o, 32, was reportedly angered by suggestions Mourinho made in an interview with Canal Plus that the Cameroon international may be somewhat older than officially stated, while also appearing to question the qualities of his other strikers Fernando Torres and Demba Ba. The French broadcaster did not transmit the footage along with their main interview with the Portuguese coach but later published it online on Monday, only to remove it later that same day. While Canal Plus was waiting for an interview with Mourinho last week in Nyon, Switzerland, it filmed him talking with a Swiss businessman at a sponsor event. Broadcast on Monday, when Chelsea were heading to Istanbul to play Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, the clip shows Mourinho saying: "The problem with Chelsea is we lack a striker. I have one [Eto'o] but he's 32. Maybe 35, who knows?" M ...
We are ready for Chelsea – Sneijder Wesley Sneijder believes inside knowledge on how Jose Mourinho works will aid Galatasaray in their Uefa Champions League clash with Chelsea, Skysports reports. The Dutch playmaker was a key figure in an Inter Milan side which secured an historic Treble under Mourinho’s tutelage in 2010. He feels that experience could work in his favour as he now plots the continental downfall of his former boss. Sneijder, along with ex-Chelsea forward Didier Drogba, will be able to offer Galatasaray’s coaching and playing staff a greater insight into the Portuguese coach’s methods – and that could significantly improve their chances of reaching the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier club competition. He said, “Mourinho knows us well and that is an advantage but the same applies for us, we know Mourinho very well, perhaps better than the Chelsea players know us. “Chelsea is a great side, everybody has to accept that, but if we show the same spirit we did against Juventus ...

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o is delighted to be playing again for manager Jose Mourinho. Having been part of the Inter Milan side that won the treble, which included the Champions League, under Mourinho, Eto'o admitted the decision to link up again with the 'Special One' was pivotal in his transfer. The Cameroonian striker said "Every great player who had a career like I had would have gone to a club like Chelsea. Mourinho weighed on my decision to come around 80 per cent because I had worked with him at Inter Milan." He continued "Jose had already allowed me to make a good choice in the summer of 2009. A choice that was difficult because I left Barcelona and I had to choose the right club at a time when I had to prove that what I had in Barcelona was not an accident. This went extremely well. We had a fantastic team and we practically won everything."

Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the latest club to show an interest in …Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin. But do Spurs really need yet another advanced midfield player? The 27-year-old Columbian has been at the centre of much speculation following impressive performances in Serie A, but with Inter Milan standing little chance of a top three finish this campaign Guarin could be tempted to switch the San Siro for White Hart Lane where the prospect of Champions League football next season seems more likely. However with Christian Eriksen hitting form following a return from injury and with Erik Lamela and Gylfi Sigurðsson vying for a First Team place, one could assume that Guarin would add little more than depth to what is arguably Spurs’ strongest position at present. The Columbian is a gifted playmaker blessed with fine technique and lethal passing. Mourinho sympathetic to sacked managers' plight Jose Mourinho once again expressed sympathy for Andre Villas-Boas after Tim Sherwood was appointed Tottenham Head Coach. Villas-Boas worked under Mourinho at Chelsea and Inter Milan before focusing on his own managerial career, which has now seen him sacked by Chelsea and Spurs. Spurs replaced Villas-Boas with Sherwood, who is without managerial experience, much the same way in which Mourinho was succeeded by Avram Grant when his first spell ended in September 2007 and his fellow Portuguese by Roberto Di Matteo in March 2012. Grant led Chelsea to the 2008 Uefa Champions League final and Di Matteo went one better after taking over from Villas-Boas, lifting the European Cup. Mourinho declined the opportunity to appraise Sherwood, though. "That is not my problem," Mourinho said. "My only problem is to feel sorry that one manager lost his job a couple of days before Christmas where he was completely enthusiastic about going forward with his contract at Tottenham ...
Jose Mourinho admits Chelsea could end up winning nothing this season - which would be the first trophyless campaign of his career. Mourinho has won silverware every year he has been in work for the last decade, at Porto, in his first spell at Chelsea, then Inter Milan and Real Madrid. No Chelsea boss has ever been spared the axe by owner Roman Abramovich if they failed to win a trophy - and some have been sacked even if they did win silverware. And Mourinho admits failing to add a trophy to the Chelsea cabinet this season would fall short of his employer's expectations. He said: "Last season was the worst I have had - at Real. We only won the Spanish Super Cup.It was not much, but it was something. "Would it be acceptable to win nothing this season, what with my personal approach, my philosophy and the nature of this club? No, it's not acceptable. "But it's possible it could happen. We're competing with very important teams in the Champions League and domestically. "I'm not happy.

I know everyone got angry when Nani got a red card last season against Real Madrid, but who remembers 2009/10 Champions League quarter final vs Bayern Munich at Old Trafford? When we went 3-0 up and then they got a goal back, we still looked comfortable and Rafael had Ribery in his pocket, but Rafael tackled Ribery, he reacted and he got Rafael sent off, and then Robben scored to make it 3-2 and Bayern went through on away goals? That makes me angrier than the one against Real Madrid because realistically we had more of a chance to win the Champions League that year against Inter Milan in the final. Its random but yea it makes me angrier than last season's one -SP

They qualified for the round of 16 where they fell to eventual champions Chelsea in extra time. Now, however, Mazzarri has a massive mountain to climb. Mourinho: I'm still special Jose Mourinho claims you have to be a winner to be considered "special" and feels he fits that mould as he returns to Chelsea. The Portuguese coach is preparing for a second stint at the Stamford Bridge helm six years after an initial trophy-laden spell in London came to a close. Since leaving English shores, Mourinho has landed league titles in Italy and Spain and tasted Champions League glory with Inter Milan. Things did not work out as planned during three years at Real Madrid, resulting in his exit from the Bernabeu, but the self-proclaimed 'Special One' insists he is still on top of his game as he readies himself for another shot at the Premier League. Mourinho told The Sun: "The expression is mine, that's obvious. When I arrived at Chelsea I said I was special because I had won the Champions League with Porto. Parma dismiss Cassano option Parma have distanced themselves from suggestions that they could net Antonio Cassano from Inter this summer. The 30-year-old is being linked with a San Siro exit despite the fact that he will potentially be bossed by Walter Mazzarri in 2013-14, his former Coach at Sampdoria. Amongst the clubs being associated with the Italian international are Parma. “Cassano? That would be like talking about us qualifying for the Champions League,” Gialloblu transfer chief Pietro Leonardi told TV Parma. “Perhaps we’ll now sign Barcelona’s Lionel Messi instead…” The Bari-native joined the Beneamata last summer in a swap deal which saw Giampaolo Pazzini move to Milan. After leading Porto to the 2004 Champions League title, Mourinho became a popular and divisive figure when he arrived at Chelsea. "I'm sorry I'm a bit arrogant, but we have a top manager," he said at his initial news conference. "I am the European champion. I think I am a Special One." After leaving Chelsea, Mourinho went on to coach Inter Milan, winning two Serie A titles, the Italian Cup and the 2010 Champions League. With Madrid, he won the 2011 Copa del Rey and 2012 Spanish league title. He became unpopular with segments of the Madrid fan base this year, when he dropped goalkeeper Iker Casillas, captain of Madrid and of the world and European champion Spanish national team. Chelsea said Mourinho is bringing along three members of his coaching staff, Rui Faria, Silvino Louro and Jose Morais, and each will be given the title assistant First Team coach. There was no word whether Aitor Karanka, his assistant manager at Madrid, will follow him to Chelsea. Mourinho was an unsuccessful player in the 1980s, a ...
MOURINHO'S CONTROVERSIES February 2005: After Chelsea's 2-1 defeat against Barcelona in the first leg of their last-16 clash, Mourinho wrongly accused Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard of visiting referee Anders Frisk at half- time. Mourinho was fined £8,900, given a two-match touchline ban and called an "enemy of football" by the head of Uefa's referees committee Volker Roth. March 2005: Mourinho was fined £5,000 after he alleged Manchester United players were guilty of "fault and fault and cheat and cheat" during a Carling Cup semi-final clash. June 2005: Mourinho was fined £200,000, which is reduced to £75,000 on appeal, for meeting then-Arsenal player Ashley Cole, without his club's consent. January to March 2010: While manager of Inter Milan, Mourinho was fined three times in as many months by the Italian Football Federation. December 2010: Mourinho was banned for one Champions League match after being found guilty of improper conduct. It follows the dismissal of Real Madrid players Xabi Alonso and ...

Bayern Munich became the first German club to win the treble by beating Stuttgart 3-2 in a dramatic German Cup final. Bayern appeared to be cruising when a harsh penalty, converted by Thomas Mueller, and two Mario Gomez goals put them 3-0 ahead inside 61 minutes. Stuttgart, hammered 6-1 by the Bavarians in the Bundesliga, then gave them a real scare as Martin Harnik pulled two goals back. Bayern hung on to complete a memorable season and give departing coach Jupp Heynckes the best possible send-off as he ended his third stint in charge to make way for former Barcelona supremo Pep Guardiola. They became the seventh team to win their league, cup and European Cup in the same season, following Inter Milan (2010), Barcelona (2009), Manchester United (1999), PSV Eindhoven (1988), Ajax Amsterdam (1972) and Celtic (1967). Just as in last week's 2-1 Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund, Manuel Neuer prevented Bayern falling behind with some outstanding goalkeeping. Stuttgart nearly took an early lead ...

SPORT NEWS:Champions League final: German superiority over Premier League. Bayern Munich's massed ranks of red celebrated avoiding the fate of losing their third successive Champions League final with a rousing rendition of an old England classic. The Euro 96 anthem "Football's Coming Home" was one of the souvenirs Germany took away with them - as well as the trophy - in that memorable summer. And it was back again on another sunny Wembley night of vindication for Bayern, match-winner Arjen Robben and that country's great coaching statesman Jupp Heynckes. The facts are bare. Bayern Munich cleansed the wounds of Champions League final defeats to Inter Milan in 2010 and, in their own imposing Allianz Arena to Chelsea in 2012, with a 2-1 victory over Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund. It gave the Bavarian giants, the beast that once spawned the nickname "FC Hollywood", a fifth win in this tournament. They are level with Liverpool and only Real Madrid and AC Milan are above them. Scratch underneath those st ...
Tomorrow going to be a big night for all of us German supporter. First ever All German Uefa Champions League Final. A very proud moment for the lovers of German supporters.Secondly my beloved club will play their 3rd final in 4 years which is an incredible feat. Hopefully we will be 3rd time lucky. 1999 at Camp Nou crazy injury time ruined a dream of a 13 year old kid who was about to witness first ever champions league win of his club but dream shattered. Then come 2001 Stefan Effenberg and his team gave me that wonderful moment when some brilliance by Oliver Kahn gave us our 4th Champions League and my first ever taste of how it feels to see ur team lifting Uefa Champions League Trophy. I still remember how I screamed with joy at 3 am in the morning after winning that final at San Siro in Milan. Then in 2010 we were underdogs against Inter Milan in the final at Santiago Barnabeu and in the end we comprehensively beaten by two Diego Milito goals. But most painful was the loss against Chelsea at Allianz A ...
What is Villas-Boas' best option – Should he stick or twist? Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed the Serie A runners-up have made an approach for Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas. Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri terminated his association with the Italian club last week and the club’s president has revealed that Villas-Boas is one of their candidates to replace him. “Yes,” he replied when questioned if an approach had been made. “There is a very tempting argument to hire a young coach here.” Less than a year ago the 35-year-old coach had been hired by Chelsea and hailed as the next Jose Mourinho, under whom he learned his trade at Inter Milan. However, after a short-lived and turbulent spell with the Blues he was fired and his assistant Roberto Di Matteo took charge of the team to win the Champions League and FA Cup in 2011/12. Back then, Villas-Boas would have likely been tempted by the prospect of taking the reigns at Napoli but he’s only just started to implement his ideas ...
The Special One has taken perennial European underachievers Inter Milan to the brink of European glory – just don’t call them negative Duncan Castles  The Sunday Times Published: 16 May 2010   Jose Mourinho: The best football coach on the planet. It is an equation so broadly accepted that statistics are no longer cited as evidence. They are worth an abbreviated recap. Should Inter sustain their two-point advantage over AS Roma through a final Serie A fixture at Siena this afternoon, Mourinho will have his sixth league title as a manager. He will have finished top of the table in every full season he has led a club — bar the 2006-07 Chelsea campaign in which Roman Abramovich forced Andriy Shevchenko upon him while refusing to sign a badly needed centre-back. Starting with his first Portuguese title campaign at FC Porto in 2002-03, Mourinho’s teams have not lost a home league fixture for seven complete seasons. Defeat Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu in Saturday’s Champions League final and the 47- ...

Tonight's football 2012/13 Last-16 First Leg. Tottenham Hotspur v Inter Milan (Kick-off 8.05pm). coverage of the last-16 first-leg match at White Hart Lane, as Spurs host the Italians for the second time in three seasons. Spurs fans will remember the previous meeting with much fondness, as they saw their side claim a 3-1 victory in the Champions League group stage courtesy of goals from Rafael van der Vaart, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko in November 2010. Such is the way of the modern game that none of those players remain at the club, nor is former manager Harry Redknapp who was in charge of the team that night, but current Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas can call upon the likes of Gareth Bale, Lewis Holtby and Mousa Dembele, whose late goal away to Lyon in the previous round secured their progress. Commentary by Clive Tyldesley

So it's Inter Milan tomorrow at White Hart Lane, a good time to open the first scorer competition! Think we've got every right to be confident of this tie, if we can beat them in the Champions League then why not in the Europa? They'll be wary of us now as they now know what we can do, but they've also lost Sneijder, Cesar, Coutinho and Maicon since last time and we're looking stronger than ever ;) COYS! Remember; One guess per person; If you don't think we'll score, don't play!; Spurs players only (you're voting for first Spurs scorer rather than overall); The post closes for guessing when teams announced; Any joke guesses are deleted; You need to guess the scorer AND the minute they score; The prize is a shoutout on the page :) SCORER AND MINUTE PLEASE! Can't count how many times people don't post their minute guess, the rules are posted for a reason! Now go go go! :D - LT

No coach today compares. Phil Jackson may have won 11 NBA titles, but he always had the best players. Mourinho conquered the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan, teams with nowhere near the talent and payrolls of their top rivals. Joe Torre and Mike Krzyzewski may have reached the pinnacle four times, but they did not have to connect with their players in five languages. Mourinho speaks Portuguese, English, French, Italian and Spanish, fluently. Bill Belichick owns three Super Bowl rings as a Head Coach, but even he can't match Mourinho's most remarkable record: He has gone nine years without losing a league game at home, 148 matches with four different teams.
People should know that Champions League and Premier League are entirely different competitions. In the PL, the best team always wins the League, but in CL, its not so. Champions League is won purely on the basis of tactics and mentality, It doesn't need a strongest team in the world with 11 world class players to win the CL. Inter Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, Porto and even ManUtd, etc won it even when many other clubs had much better team on paper. Yes, the treble is possible, Especially when we have a manager like Sir Alex, who took us to 3 finals in last 6 years. The attitude of our squad this season is second to none. There's a reason why we are 12 points clear when City's and Chelsea's squad is worth 150-200 million pounds more than ours. Basically, I just want to say that football isn't played on paper, especially European Football. So ManUtd fans should stop moaning about the quality of Barca's and Real Madrid's squad. Believe in your own players and trust Sir Alex. -(NewsMUFC)

Turkish top side Galatasaray announced Monday they have signed Ivory Coast's veteran striker Didier Drogba on an 18-month contract. Drogba is to be paid 13.5 million for the 18-month period, the club announced, plus a bonus of 20,000 US dollars for each match played. Drogba left Chelsea for China last year after helping the West London side to their first Champions League title. Galatasaray, who are currently five points clear of Fenerbahce at the top of the Turkish league, have already made a major statement in the transfer window by landing Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan earlier this month. Drogba is currently on international duty at the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast.
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has urged his side to be more clinical in front of goal as they bid to avoid a trophy-less season. Wednesday's exit from the Capital One Cup, after failing to score in either leg of their semi-final with Swansea, means the Blues have already missed out on five competitions this term, with the Community Shield, UEFA Super Cup, World Club Championship and Uefa Champions League added to their League Cup exit. Rafael Benitez's side also trail Premier League leaders Manchester United by 11 points, and goalkeeper Cech has placed the blame for their predicament squarely at the feet of their forward players. While Benitez has defended Fernando Torres, who has now gone eight games without a goal, the interim boss opted to go with Demba Ba up front at the Liberty Stadium knowing his side needed at least two goals, and appeared reluctant to introduce Torres as a substitute. The former Inter Milan boss insisted his selection was simply down to rotation, but Cech knows, regardless of who p ...
According to reports Liverpool are prepared to increase their offer for Inter Milan youngster Philippe Coutinho. The Guardian reports that Liverpool are targeting the 20-year-old Brazilian to help bolster their attacking line-up as they continue their march up the Premier League table under Brendan Rodgers. Coutinho has himself responded to speculation the Reds are interested in signing him. “The Liverpool offer? I'm happy with these offers, because it means I am doing my job well," he said. However, he also took the opportunity to dismiss suggestions that he will leave Milan where he insists he is happy to challenge for his place in Andrea Stramaccioni’s team. "But I think Inter have faith in me and I want to show my value here. I don't feel that I'm on my way out. I hope to stay at Inter. The young players feel the faith of the coach and of the club.” The Brazilian has made just 5 appearances for Inter in Serie A this season and has scored one goal. Rumours have surfaced since Liverpool made an in ...
Tottenham are said to be eyeing Celtic striker Gary Hooper, according to The Metro. The forward has impressed in the Champions League this term, and has been linked with Norwich, but Spurs would have to persuade him to turn his back on a glamour knockout tie against Juventus, and convince Celtic to sell a key man. Norwich have seen a £5 million bid rejected, with his asking price closer to £10 million. The Mirror also run the story, detailing how Spurs rejected the goalscorer when he was just 14. Reports from Italy claim Spurs are interested in Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin, hailed as 'Sneijder's successor' at Inter Milan. The former Porto midfielder is a creative player with a powerful shot on him, but is contracted until 2016. Any deal is unlikely to take place this transfer window though and it would be costly, with the player currently a fan favourite at the San Siro, so this is just one to bear in mind for the future. Kop singing "Fields of Anfield Road" during the first half of the Champions League last 16 leg 1 match Liverpool v Inter Milan on 19th February, 2008.
Ever since FIFA announced a World XI compiled solely from La Liga, the English game has been full of self-doubt about standards. There were five Barcelona players, five from Real Madrid and one from Atletico Madrid selected: proof that the Premier League and its clubs are on the wane. So no doubt you will be putting the house on Real Madrid when they play Manchester United next month? Thought not. Indeed, for all this supposed dominance, England and Italy can vouch for the same number of Champions League wins as Spain in the last 10 seasons: three each. Indeed, some might say Spain’s is the lesser achievement. For while England have produced three individual winners (Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea) and Italy two (AC Milan and Inter Milan), all of Spain’s success belongs to Barcelona. One has to go back to 2002 to find Real Madrid’s last final appearance and while England have produced an additional five runners-up, Italy three and Germany two, Barcelona’s hat-trick of victories are Spain ...
Jose Mourinho has ruled out leaving Real Madrid anytime Soon by admitting that he is desperate to set two champions league record with the Club.. Mancini promises more trophies Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has promised more silverware this season. City have seen their Champions League quest end at the group stage and they have fallen six points behind Manchester United in their Barclays Premier League title defence, but Mancini remains confident. The Italian is hopeful of overhauling their neighbours to retain the title while he is also focusing on a repeat of the 2011 FA Cup success. The 48-year-old said: "I think we will win. "We have two targets and I think if we work better than the first six months and we forget what we did last year we have more chance to win the league." Mancini, who was appointed at the Etihad Stadium three years ago this week, has grown accustomed to success during his managerial career. In each full season in charge of Fiorentina, Lazio, Inter Milan and now City, he has earned tangible reward in terms of a trophy or a Champions League place. He said: "I always win. I can't do nothing about this! "I think one seaso ...
A look at 10 of the best playmakers in world soccer. A playmaker operates in midfield or advanced midfield and dictates the tempo of a match with his passing and dribbling skills. 1. Xavi Hernandez (Spain & Barcelona) Most of Barcelona’s attacking play is conducted by this little midfield metronome. He keeps the side ticking over with his short passes, and is the embodiment of tiki-taka, which is based on working the ball through channels and maintaining possession at all costs. A graduate of Barcelona’s La Masia youth academy, he has won multiple domestic titles and also enjoyed success in the Champions League. 2. Wesley Sneijder (Holland & Inter Milan) The determined Dutchman has earned his position at the very top of the world game thanks to his fine close control, excellent passing and ability to score goals, as he demonstrated at the 2010 World Cup where he finished joint top scorer. Capable of speeding play up or slowing it down, Sneijder is a pedigree free-kick taker and boasts his fair share o ...
Benitez tiptoes onto Chelsea tightrope MANCHESTER, United Kingdom (AFP) – Freshly appointed as Chelsea’s latest interim coach, Rafael Benitez could be forgiven for wondering whether he has accepted a poisoned chalice. The dismissal of Roberto Di Matteo on Wednesday means eight coaches have now been and gone during the nine-year tenure of trigger-happy owner Roman Abramovich. Benitez, 52, arrives with a rich pedigree, albeit almost two years since his last managerial role at Inter Milan, but in order to land the job full-time, he must contend with Abramovich’s notorious impatience. Since Jose Mourinho left in 2007 after three hugely successful years, only Carlo Ancelotti has managed to complete a full season in the Chelsea dug-out. Di Matteo may have delivered the Champions League trophy to Stamford Bridge for the very first time last season, but a return of two wins from eight matches in October and November proved too much for Abramovich to stand. In his quest for on-pitch perfection, the Russian b ...
As declared on the Chelsea official website on Wednesday, Rafael Benitez has been appointed as the replacement for sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo. As quickly as Roberto was fired, Rafa was brought in—and in less than 12 hours—Chelsea had a new interim manager. Interim—the first clue that Benitez hasn’t been brought in by Roman Abramovic for the long term. Abramovic made it clear that he was happy to wait for Pep Guardiola to finish his 12-month sabbatical before trying to convince him to come to Stamford Bridge. In fact it was even suggested that Di Matteo was only on a one year contract as Roman waited it out for the ex-Barca boss (Mirror Football). What is there to suggest that Benitez hasn’t been offered that exact same opportunity? Rafael has the attitude and personality to believe he can change things at the Bridge, and rightly so. He has had many high profile jobs, such as Valencia, Liverpool and Inter Milan, and has won a Champions League, two La Ligas and an FA Cup during his time ...

Roman Abramovich is potential the only person who is more of a nutjob football owner than Mike Ashley. Sacking Roberto Di Matteo because they have failed in the Champions League thus far - if it weren't for Di Matteo parking the bus they wouldn't even be in it! - incredibly stiff and I feel for Roberto. And now word is that Benitez could take over in the short term. I know that his Inter Milan stint is a mark against his name but he worked well with a very good team at his disposal at Liverpool. But Abramovich only wants Benitez as a short term solution before he makes a bid for Guardiola. Again.

The Inter Milan defender has questioned his status in the Rossoneri shirt and claims he does not measure to the standards set by Ibrahimovic and legendary Clarence Seedorf. “It’s bad time for Boateng. Turns out it was all an accident. Champions League football, that night against Inter Milan, Gareth Bale becoming one of the greatest wide players in Europe. Fluked, the lot of it.

All the rumour, gossip, and news you need to know from the last 24 hours Who knows how this season would have turned out if Manchester United gambled on Wesley Sneijder last summer. Now it appears that Manchester City are the ones who want to bring him to England. He had a difficult season at Inter Milan, suffering injuries, mixed form, and being played in a variety of roles by different managers, and the Italians are open to a sale at the right price. The reports stem from Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport and are repeated in the Daily Mail. Sneijder to City? One player Manchester United are said to be tracking this summer is Newcastle United sensation Papiss Cisse. The Mirror claim that Manchester City want him too, but it would surely take a mega-bid similar to one which prized Andy Carroll from their hands for Newcastle to agree to a sale. United don't have that sort of money to spend o ...

Reports have emerged in Brazil overnight that Sao Paulo have rejected a £32million bid for teenage midfielder Lucas Moura from Chelsea. As mentioned on Sky Sports yesterday, the Champions League holders also face stiff competition for his signature from Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Chelsea have yet to comment on the reports but we'll bring you updates as we get them.
9 Reasons why Chelsea must won this finals! 1. The last team (Inter Milan) to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League went on to lift the trophy and win the competition against Bayern Munich in the final.
A tip to Chelsea owner Roman Abrahamovic. It is better for your team to keep Robbie Di Matteo as a full time manager. Remember 2 years ago, Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan won the Champions League beating Barcelona in the semis and Bayern Munich in the finals. Mourinho left Inter, Inter left champions league place. Now, Chelsea could go in the same direction as Inter Milan, if Di Matteo leaves the club. All the best! Cheers!
I am a football fan since Bayern won the Champions League 2001...since then, I had to watch this happen: 2002 Champions League Final : Real Madrid - Bayer Leverkusen 2:1 :-( 2002 World Cup Final : Brasil - GERMANY 2:0 :-( 2006 World Cup Semifinal : Italy - GERMANY 2:0 after 120 min. (both goals in the last 2 minutes) :-( 2008 Uefa Cup Final : Shakhtar Donetsk - Werder Bremen 2:1 :-( 2008 European Championships Final : Spain - GERMANY 1:0 :-( 2010 Champions League Final : Inter Milan - FC BAYERN MüNCHEN 2:0 :-( 2010 World Cup Semifinal : Spain - GERMANY 1:0 :-( Yesterday, I felt it was time for a german team to win SOMETHING, since they've had such le of years...but what can I say...instead, it was the worst loss I've ever seen: 2012 Champions League Final : FC Chelsea London - FC BAYERN MüNCHEN 5:4 after Penalties (unbelievable if you did watch the match) X_X I'll probably be 80 years old the next time a german team wins an international title^^.

German international Thomas Mueller had headed Bayern into a deserved lead in the 83rd minute from a left wing cross before Didier Drogba levelled with a bullet header with just two minutes remaining of normal time. Drogba conceded a penalty in the third minute of extra-time for a clumsy foul on Franck Ribery, but Former Chelsea player Arjen Robben saw his penalty saved by Petr Cech in the Chelsea goal. Bayern Munich – Chelsea Preview: Of home comforts and a fighting spirit May 19, 2012 · It is the ultimate meeting of the perennial bridesmaids. For years on end, German powerhouse, Bayern Munich have excelled magnificently on the domestic scene but have fallen just short on the continent. The Bavarians last won the Champions League in 2001, two years after a great miracle handed it to Manchester United. The last time they came close, a certain Jose Mourinho inspired Inter Milan to victory in 2010. Having exacted revenge on the Portuguese, Bayern have booked a date with history, at their very own Allianz Arena, with Chelsea. Who ever gave Chelsea a chance? Struggling both in England and Europe under Andre Villas-Boas, they piled up one bad result after another. Until Roberto Di Matteo came along and changed their season dramatically. It all started with that sensational turn around against Napoli at Stamford Bridge. Since then, the Blues have made little matter of the might of Barcelona. They almost w ...
2012 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL: CHELSEA vs. BAYERN by OdlerRobert Jeanlouie A Champions League final is no different from a World Cup Final: filled with passion and always a complete toss up. It is one game over 90 minutes, anything and everything can happen. An early goal, an expulsion, extra time, or a penalty shoot out can quickly change a favorite into a loser. This time, the burden of the favorite rests on Bayern's shoulders. Bayern is an established brand in Germany and around the world; the Bavarians have won the world premiere club competition four times in the past; two years ago, they lost the final to Inter Milan. The Munich outfit that gave us Frantz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller and Paul Breitner in the 70s, has the advantage of playing at home and the luck of having some of the best or the most promising players in the world in its squad, even after losing Ozil and Kedhira to Madrid; talk about Gomez, Alaba, Schweinsteiger... Chelsea is practically a new comer. The West London side, was a second ti ...
Yobo injured in cup triumph Nigeria will now have to sweat on the fitness of skipper Joseph Yobo after he was injured in Wednesday’s cup triumph by Fenerbache. Ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers, Yobo was forced out of the final after just 30 minutes by injury as his club trounced Bursaspor 4-0 to clinch the cup for the fifth time. The nature and extent of Yobo’s injury has yet to be ascertained. This will a great source of concern for Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, who already has been forced to replace Inter Milan midfielder Joel Obi who suffered a thigh injury leading to the build-up of qualifying matches for both the 2014 World Cup and the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. Fenerbahce lost the Turkish league title to rivals Galatasaray in a derby on Saturday which triggered violence. As a result of finishing second in the league, Fenerbahce have thus qualified for next season's Champions League while Turkish Cup finalists Bursaspor will feature in the Europa League. My Take Serious headache for K ...
This year English Premier League, gave us full of excitement until the last day at the last whistle blow.Even Hollywood script writer can't make this kind of thrill..Roberto Manchini, manager of Manchester City truly deserved to be a champion. He also won Serie A title twice with Inter Milan,4 or 5 years ago. Now,long awaited Champions' League Final will be on our time 20/5,4:15 am.As a Bayern Munich fan,I hope Bayern can clinch the title for 5th time.Last Sunday,I watched the German Cup final (equal to English FA cup)Brossia Dortmon & Bayern Munich.Bayern lost 5:2 to Dortmon.Anyway,it's good for Bayen coach to tune the best for 20th May Final.Against Dortmon,German National team & club skipper Philip Lahm was over committed in attacking, two goals were came from his side.Chelsea is very good in counter attack.Apart from that,Bayern is superior than Chelsea.Who wants to bet?
"The star of FC Barcelona will lead a team of his friends against a worldwide ensemble on June 23 at the Sun Life Stadium. The exhibition game is part of the World Soccer Masters Tour, featuring Messi and a few other international stars. These same teams will play each other in Bogota on June 21. Among the players who will participate are Colombian Radamel Falcao, the Europa League’s top scorer and part of champion Atletico Madrid; Uruguayan Diego Forlán of Inter Milan, who was named best player of 2010 World Cup; Ivorian Didier Drogba, who will play in the Champions League final with Chelsea on May 19; Brazilian Dani Alves and Argentine Javier Mascherano, Messi’s teammates on Barcelona; Uruguayans Luis Suárez of Liverpool and Edison Cavani of Napoli; Alessandro Nesta of 2006 World Cup champion Italy; and others." , *** Im gonna try to go to that o_o
No Champions League for Inter Milan next year! And, Malaga join the Champions League after gaining 4th in La Liga. Crazy
Arsenal are seriously considering what would be a club-record £17.7 million deal for the France international, with manager Arsène Wenger having identified the holding midfield as a transfer priority this summer. There has also been interest in M’Vila from Inter Milan but the 21 year-old has now firmly indicated his desire to join Arsenal. The expectation in France is that his arrival at the Emirates will be confirmed shortly after their domestic league season finishes on May 20. Le Parisien, the French daily newspaper, has even reported that provisional agreement has been reached on a €22million (£17.7 million) transfer fee and four-year contract. Arsenal sources are more circumspect and stress that no formal agreement has been reached. Indeed, the precise outlay of any deal is likely to be influenced by whether Arsenal clinch a place in the Champions League. The club have already spent £11 million on Germany striker Lukas Podolski and face a major challenge this summer to ease the wage burden ca ...
Finally. Wenger is renowned for being cautious and responsible with the club’s money and will only go ahead with the summer spree if he can balance the books with outgoings and new revenue. Despite having a wild reputation off the pitch, M'Vila is seen as the disciplined defensive midfielder Arsenal need - and the 22-year-old has also spoken of his admiration for Wenger. It is believed he would still be willing to come even if Arsenal miss out on the Champions League, but Wenger is likely to be more cautious. It may raise question marks over the future of Alex Song, who is being courted by Real Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan. Vertonghen is a good possibility to strengthen their squad, despite competition from Spurs and Manchester United, and that may prompt Arsenal to listen to offers for Johan Djourou. Andrey Arshavin is likely to make his loan move to Zenit St Petersburg permanent, which would free up space for free agent Hoilett.
Arsene Wenger is confident of completing a £17million deal for Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila... if Arsenal clinch a Champions League place. M’Vila will hold talks with the Gunners and Inter Milan this week, but has indicated he would prefer a move to the Premier League and Wenger believes he can lure the French international with a four-year deal. But the Arsenal manager, who has already confirmed the £10.9m signing of Cologne striker Lukas Podolski, has insisted he will not rush in until their Champions League fate is decided.

"We have already got the go-ahead from both the clubs. Several top players, including Lionel Messi, are more or less confirmed though players on national duty for Euro 2012 may not make it. If everything goes according to plan it will be a treat for football fans," Prashant Agarwal, CEO of Kshatriya Sports Management told TOI. Motherwell in the Champions League potentially instead of the likes of Inter Milan, Newcastle, Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen & PSV - laughable
Champions League 2009/2010 Final: Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Madrid (the home of Real Madrid). Semi Final: Inter Milan (vs) FC Barcelona Here the classy Hose Morinho (then coach of Inter): "For Barcelona in 2006, it was a dream. In 2009, it was a dream. But now in 2010, ITS AN OBSESSION. That obsession is Santiago Bernabeu. Barcelona will love to win the Champions League in that stadium but not this year". And true to his word, Inter defeated Barca 3-2 on aggregate in that Semi Finals on their way to win the cup. I love that guy. If Inter could do it with a mixture of 30 somethings and 20 somethings, why not Chelsea? But seriously, I don't see that happening. Have a lovely game people. As for me, it Enyimba all the way.
Has got to be anything Bale did against Maicon at White Hart Lane in last years Champions League game vs Inter Milan, Genius!
It doesn't help that Jose Mourinho is now the Head Coach of Real—the same man whose Inter Milan squad defeated Bayern in the 2010 Champions League final, 2-0. Mourinho said, via Yahoo! Sports, "They are basically the same team I played two years ago with Inter Milan." Of course, Bayern knew who Real was all along. It wasn't exactly a surprise that five goals swung into the net on Wednesday. It is Real's defining feature this season, and everyone knows it...these are words from the coach but never mind them cos ''THE ALMIGHTY BARCELONA AWAITS FOR THEM... BARCA ALL THE WAY WITH THE FOOTBALL MESSIAH...
Inter Milan defeated Chievo 2-0 at the San Siro to bounce back from their midweek Uefa Champions League loss and earn three points in Serie A. The champions moved, temporarily at least, up to second, closing the gap on leaders and city rivals AC Milan to just two points ahead of tomorrow's games. It was the old guard of Esteban Cambiasso and Maicon who proved decisive as the Nerazzurri showed they could still have a say in the Scudetto chase. Even before kick-off the pressure was on Inter, and in particular coach Leonardo, following the 3-0 loss to AC Milan and a 5-2 shocking at home to Schalke 04 in the past seven days that had seemingly left their season in tatters. Leonardo sprang a surprise by leaving Wesley Sneijder, Diego Milito and Thaigo Motta on the bench, but he could at least recall Lucio to the backline. The hosts were soon pushing forward as Japan full-back Yuto Nagatomo got free down the left on 15 minutes and hit an inch-perfect cross into the box where Samuel Eto'o failed to make contact. ...
