We'll see 2 very different strains of the Catholic Church tonight: Pope Francis vs. Pope Benedict
2013: Pope Benedict XVI resigns as the Pope of the Catholic Church, becoming the first pope to do so since 1415.
From YNET NEWS: In a special interview with Die Tagespost last week, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal, named by Pope Benedict to represent the Vatican in the Jewish State, declared that “Israel’s existence as such has nothing to do with the Bible.” He then compared Christians’ condition in today’s Jerusalem with Jesus’ Passion: “We Christians never forget that even our Lord himself suffered and was mocked in Jerusalem.” “We Christians cannot speak about the Promised Land for the Jewish people”, the synod’s document said. “There is no longer a chosen people. The concept of the Promised Land cannot be used as a base for the justification of the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of Palestinians.” Twal’s position on Israel and the Bible has been embraced at the highest levels in the Catholic Church. The Vatican synod in 2010 declared that Israel cannot use the Biblical concept of a Promised Land or a chosen people.
The King of Bahrain has donated 9,000 square metres of land to the Catholic Church for the construction of a cathedral. Mgr Camillo Ballin, mccj, Apostolic Vicar of north Arabia, vicariate which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia told Fides that he was in Kuwait when he received a request for a meeting from the King of Bahrain’s Minister, Shaykh Ahmed Bin Ateytallah Al Khalifa, who later handed him the deeds to the land. Mgr Ballin was keen to highlight that the document was dated 11 February, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes that in Bahrain corresponds to Our Lady of Arabia . “Our prayers have been answered,” writes the Bishop. “Our Lady of Arabia is capable of doing miracles!” Bishop Ballin said that 13 February he was invited to the royal palace for a meeting with King Hamad bin Issa al-Khalifa with all the religious authorities, and was that he was going to be seated seated next to the King as a guest of honour. He said this would enable him to personally thank the King for thi ...

In 2011, Vatican was Taken to ICC Over Child Abuses, what happened to this case? Victims of sexual abuses by Catholic clergy filed a complaint with the International Court of Justice (ICC) to prosecute Pope Benedict XVI and top Vatican officials for Crimes Against Humanity. "Crimes against tens of thousands of victims, most of them children, are being covered up by officials at the highest level of the Vatican,” said Pamela Spees, attorney of the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), Reuters reported. The New York-based rights group said it had lodged more than 20,000 pages of reports, policy papers and evidence of crimes committed by Catholic clergy against children and vulnerable adults. “The high-level officials of the Catholic church who failed to prevent and punish these criminal actions have, to date, enjoyed absolute impunity,” said the complaint cited by The New York Times. Man, does that misunderstand the Catholic Church, the position of the Pope, and what Benedict and Francis are about.
Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation sent shockwaves through the Catholic Church and raised serious questions about its future direction. One month later, after only five ballots, the Cardinals elected the serene and unassuming Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Archbishop of Buenos Aires as the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church. He would be called Francis. From the moment Pope Francis appeared on the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica, he won the hearts of the people. His humility, simplicity and closeness to the poor reveal a man deeply in touch with the Gospel. His profile has soared. He has initiated a fundamental reform of the Roman Curia, challenged a “globalization of indifference,” and become the most talked about person in the world. The Francis Effect takes a critical and in-depth look at how an ancient institution is rapidly changing under the leadership and vision of Pope Francis, and exclusive interviews with prominent Catholics and non-Catholics reveal that Francis is having a profound effect on the ...

DID CHRIST SAY OR WEAR THIS ? New rules allow some baptized Catholics to join Anglican ordinariates July 13th, 2013 Jill Posted in Anglican Ordinariates, Pope Francis Comments Off From Catholic Culture Baptized Catholics who have not yet received Confirmation and First Communion may become members of an Anglican ordinariate under new norms approved by Pope Francis on May 31. The Anglican ordinariates were established by Pope Benedict XVI to welcome former Anglicans into the Catholic Church. Under their original norms, the ordinariates were not open to baptized Catholics (except those who were members of a family that included former Anglicans). But in complementary norms, Pope Francis expanded the eligibility to include "a person who has been baptized in the Catholic Church but who has not completed the Sacraments of Initiation." The Vatican cautioned that the new rule does not open membership to Catholics who prefer the Anglican ordinariates "for purely subjective motives or personal preference." Catholi ...
Pope Francis' Calling Us to Go Deep By Lilla Marie Lottinger (Columnist's Note: It is of utmost importance for us as Christians to always have a discerning spirit regarding the secular media's coverage on Catholic Church events, because most often the reporting is done out of context. Let us be attentive in going to the source and reading first hand the Holy Father's words [or whatever is being reported on].) It seems clear. He’s not knocking those who are promoting pro-life healthy marriage, moral sexual values. If that were the case he’d be knocking himself, and Mother Church as well. But the change he is trying to foster is in regards to love… the Holy Spirit of love. A primary purpose of Vatican II was to “open up the windows and let in the Holy Spirit;” in order that any prudish, puritanical or Pharisaical spirituality could be cleaned out. Pope John Paul Ii spoke of his pontificate as a time of fostering the spirit of Vatican II within the Church. And, Pope Benedict took the baton to cont ...

What would Jesus drive? Pope tells priests to buy "humble" cars Vatican City (Reuters) - Pope Francis said on Saturday it pained him to see priests driving flashy cars, and told them to pick something more "humble". As part of his drive to make the Catholic Church more austere and focus on the poor, Francis told young and trainee priests and nuns from around the world that having the latest smartphone or fashion accessory was not the route to happiness. "It hurts me when I see a priest or a nun with the latest model car, you can't do this," he said. "A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. If you like the fancy one, just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world," he said. Since succeeding Pope Benedict in March, the former cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina has eschewed some of the more ostentatious trappings of his office and has chosen to live in a Vatican guest house rather than the opulent papal apartments. URGENT: Pope Francis: A GODSEND. The Pope confesses that the Catholic Church government has been infiltrated by a *** lobby" which is corrupting the structure of the Church and which Pope Francis plans to REFORM. Italian newspapers and television have been all over this story...while, remarkably, the U.S. media turns a blind eye. Much of the corruption apparently involves misuse of funds and power, and cover-ups of scandals. Francis said this rotten core of the Church government was the NUMBER ONE concern of the Conclave which elected him to follow Pope Benedict. More » Spanish church expels priest over paedophilia News Date: 21st March 2013 Spain's Catholic Church has expelled a priest over paedophilia, the bishop's office on Majorca Island said Thursday. An internal investigation had showed that Pere Barcelo had violated the sixth commandment with minors, the office said on its website. The sixth commandment prohibits adultery. Barcelo was therefore expelled from priesthood as "the maximum punishment," the statement added. Barcelo was the first priest in Spain to have been barred from office over paedophilia, according to media reports. Barcelo had been removed from his duties in the locality of Can Picafort already in 2011, when a woman reported him to the bishop's office, saying he had abused her when she was a child. Two other women also reported the priest for abuse, the daily Diario de Mallorca reported. One of them said she had been constantly abused and raped by him in 1997 and 1998, when she was 10 and 11. The bishop of Rome exercises his ministry in a unique way, of course, as pastor of the universal church. In practically everything he does, he has special responsibility for preserving and building unity among members of the largest, most widespread and ethnically diverse organization on earth. That responsibility is crucial to defining the particular challenges that await the man whom 115 cardinal electors will choose in the conclave starting March 12. Priest... Did you know that the Catholic Church had 3 reigning popes at the same time? In 1377, Italian cardinals fed up with the control of the French monarch decided to elect an Italian, Gregory IX. He did shortly after and they elected another Italian, Urban VI. The French cardinals elected an Avignon pope, Clement VII. The popes and their successors, Boniface IX of Rome and Benedict XII of the Avignon papacy, execommunicated each other and their supporters in a conflict known as the Western Schism, thus making it impossible for any Catholic to get into Heaven. A third pope was then elected to resolve the issue. Eventually Martin V was elected, the Roman pope resigned, and the Avignon pope was execommunicated after refusing to step down.
The Pope has come in for criticism - at least there's possibly some small comfort in this scenario reminiscent of the medieval era. Reporting the child molestations direct to the police no matter what, would've been of more comfort: Pope Benedict oversaw the highest rate of removal of bishops for sexual misconduct ever recorded by the Catholic Church, the ABC's religion unit has revealed. The former pontiff removed at least one bishop a month, accounting for 2 per cent of the world's bishops. The list obtained by the ABC's Religion Unit includes 50 bishops who lost their jobs over breaches of celibacy or alleged sexual assaults. Forty per cent of those bishops were forced to resign after having sexual relations with women - and many fathered children. A significant number were accused of rape and sexual assaults. Relations with boys and men, including other members of the clergy, make up the rest of the list. Two African bishops were removed during Pope Benedict's pontificate for allowing priests to live ...
Cardinal Al-Rahi for Pope Ralph Watchi- On October 2011, the then French President Sarkozy warned Cardinal Al-Rahi about the imminent fall of the Syrian regime and offered to resettle the Eastern Christians minorities into the European Union. He put his life at risk to give hope to the Christians minority. From Damascus, the leader of the Maronite Church sent a powerful historical reminder to the Western powers, with the benediction of the Vatican, that the Eastern Christians minority still exists in the Middle East (ME) but the Catholic Church is in retreat in this part of the world. Sex abuse: scandal the Catholic Church cannot shake Vatican City (Reuters) - Colm O'Gorman was 14 years old when Father Sean Fortune arrived unannounced at his parents' house in a small town in southern Ireland. The priest was given tea and a seat by the fire, and asked the teenager to help set up a youth group. "I was 14, and very eager and hungry to be out in the world, involved in things, doing things, making a difference. And that's what he exploited," said O'Gorman, now 46 and the executive director of Amnesty International in Ireland. The abuse that followed, culminating in Fortune's repeated rape of the boy, was part of one of the greatest scandals ever to hit the Catholic Church, damaging the curtailed papacy of Pope Benedict and posing a huge challenge to his successor. The scandal has haunted the Church for a decade in the United States and several European countries, and ranks as a top concern for cardinals preparing to elect a new pope. Benedict XVI and the Humble Way of the Cross A Most Affective and Effective Method of Teaching ROME, March 07, 2013 (Zenit.org) - Today's "Rome Notes" is a contribution from John Tabor, director of communications at the Catholic Union of Great Britain. * * * On the evening of Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, the gates of the papal summer residence at Castel Gandolfo swung shut, the Swiss Guard stood down and a new chapter in the life of the Catholic Church began. His Holiness Benedict XVI, Pope Emeritus, as he is now known, will be hidden from public view. His will be a life devoted to prayer and study. Just got through watching the award-winning HBO documentary, Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God, looking at sexual abuse of children. The film examines the abuse of power in the Catholic Church system through the story of four deaf men who set out to expose the priest, Fr. Murphy who abused them during the mid 1960s. The film-makers peel back the layers of secrecy, obfuscation and deception that characterised the church's response to allegations in this case. What they reveal is that, far from these cases being isolated, there are thousands of similar stories all over the world, and that secrecy and cover-up has been the policy of the church for centuries. Perhaps what's different about this film, is that the film-makers point the finger directly at then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who in 2001 took over responsibility for the personal review of all child sexual abuse cases involving Catholic clergy, world-wide. In 2005, he became Pope Benedict XVI. Now I think I have a clearer idea of one of the ...
Since Pope Benedict XVI announced his retirement last month, interest in his successor, the Vatican and all things papal has peaked, with searches for answers about the pope—and the process for picking the next one—spiking online. Yahoo! has seen its own share of papal searches, from "What is the pope's ring?" and "What is Pope Emeritus?" to "What is a conclave?" and "Pope Benedict's salary." Below are answers to some of the most common (and a few not-so-common) questions about the pope perfect for your own private conclave. Enjoy. Why is the pope called the pope? "Pope" is Latin for "papa," or father. He is considered the bishop of Rome, leader of the worldwide Catholic Church and the successor of Saint Peter, the apostle. Why does the pope get a new name when he's selected? Like everything else, the process of naming the pope is steeped in tradition. During the early years of the church, Roman bishops used their own names after their elections. The first bishop to change his name after being elected ...

VERY INTERESTING: U.S. cardinals seek answers on Vatican dysfunction: Vatican City -- Cardinals said Monday they want to talk to Vatican managers about allegations of corruption and cronyism within the top levels of the Catholic Church before they elect the next pope, evidence that a scandal over leaked papal documents is casting a shadow over the conclave and setting up one of the most unpredictable papal elections in recent times. The Vatican said 107 of the 115 voting-age cardinals attended the first day of pre-conclave meetings, at which cardinals organize the election, discuss the problems of the church and get to know one another before voting. The red-capped "princes" of the church took an oath of secrecy and decided to pen a letter of "greeting and gratitude" to Benedict XVI, whose resignation has thrown the church into turmoil amid a torrent of scandals inside and out of the Vatican. Matthew 5:17-19 Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete them. When I first came back to Christ through the Jesus Movement in 1971 many folks rejected all religious law, and needed to hear that those who knew Jesus fulfilled the law. we were "Jesus Freaks." Something similar was true when I became a Catholic in 1978. Many Catholics were rejecting the traditional Catholicism in favor of a kind of quasi liberal Protestantism I had just left. So I wondered why they were throwing out the proverbial "baby with the bathwater." I actually loved, and had chosen a Church of scripture and apostolic tradition. This needed to be corrected, and the papacies of John Paul II, and Benedict XVI were attempts to bring the Catholic Church back to a more moderate center. We needed response. But some have reacted. Response is usually good, while reaction is usually harmful. Today some have swung to the other extreme by reacti ...

Headline news: Pope Benedict XVI Resigns Papacy, Converts to Islam HOLY SEE - In a shocking press confererence Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI revealed to the world that he will be stepping down from the Catholic Church's highest office."Through prayer and reflection over the past years," the word's holiest man began, "I've realized that Allah is the one true God." Amid clattering camera shutters and roaring reporters, Pope Benedict patiently answered questions, citing traditional Muslim folklore as well as passages from the Qur'an to explain his decision. His session was interrupted only once, when he swiveled South-East to face Mecca, stooped to the ground, and recited the Asr, one of the five daily prayers central to Muslim belief. The startling reversal comes as a shock to many familiar with the Pope's policies on Islam. "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the swort the faith he preached," the Bishop of the V ...
Italian media reported the news this week that a mild earthquake shook Rome and surrounding areas, including Castel Gandolfo, the temporary home of former popes. According to AFP, the earthquake was a magnitude of 2.5 degrees and was felt in Rome, Ciapinu, Marin and Castel Gandolfo. To date there is no reported damage, according to the reports of the National Institute of Geophysics and vulkanologiju occurred at a depth of 10.5 kilometers. Given that the earthquake occurred shortly after Ratzinger's arrival in Castel Gandolfo, again started speculation that it was a divine sign, just like when he resigned on the day of publication, 11 February, lightning struck St. Petra . Moreover, Italia Domani published an article in which he asks whether earthquake may mark the cardinals who will soon choose a new pope. Castel Gandolfo is a small town a few kilometers from Rome, who was for many years the head of the summer resort of the Catholic Church and Pope Benedict has already felt the earthquake there during va ...
Catholic Church may have already had a black pope | USAToday
Benedict XVI's legacy to the Philippines Once historians set out to write the recent past of the Catholic Church in the Philippines, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will be remembered for his many positive contributions to it. While the German Pope never visited the country like his predecessor Blessed John Paul II did, evidence abounds of his solicitude for this Asian bastion of Catholicism. Apart from traditionally imparting Christmas and Easter blessings in Tagalog and once praying the "Hail Mary" in our national language, the Pope Emeritus, at least once, asked the world to pray for the victims of flooding here in 2011. To foster devotion, Benedict in 2006 named the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title Our Lady of Guadalupe of Cebu patroness of the Cebu archdiocese. Benedict loved the Filipino youth. When the World Youth Day gatherings were held in Sydney, Australia in 2008, the Vatican broke with tradition and released a Filipino translation of his message. "Huwag ninyong kalimutan na ang Simbahan, at ang ...
Benedict XVI is the 265th pope, a position in which he serves dual roles as the leader of the Catholic Church and Sovereign of the Vatican City State. Benedict XVI was elected on 19 April 2005 in a Papal Conclave, celebrated his Papal Inauguration Mass on 24 April 2005, and took possession of his ca...
Has the Catholic Church already had a black pope? Well, certainly a lot who weren't white.
"It is the lack of strong institutions, compounded by illiteracy and poverty that continues to make Africa a continent where the demand for civil and political rights far outstrips its supply. From South Africa to Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Nigeria and to the Gambia, and indeed to much of the rest of sub-Saharan Africa, we witness regular election but it is successively less fair, less efficient and less credible. Nor is it placing credible and responsible government in place. Across the continent, democratic and autocratic systems of power are simultaneously in play. Indeed, in the voluntary resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, the Catholic Church has spoken a loud and a strong moral message: the last best hope of Africa is not the strong man with a messiah complex, but strong institutions that work for the people. And yes, there is a messiah, but it is not you for a lifetime. Pope Benedict has said a big no to the big man syndrome in Africa". Rev.Fr. Paul Irikefe is a priest from the Catholic diocese of W ...
THE WORLD AWAITS NEW POPE. With the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI taking effect on Thursday, all is now set for the emergence of a new Catholic pontiff. The College of Cardinals, made up of about 120 cardinals from across the world, would converge on the Vatican, go into the Conclave to pick a new spiritual leader for the largest Christian faith in the world. Pope Benedict, now designated Pope Emeritus, had given notice of his resignation on February 10,2013, citing failing health as reason. He is the first Pope to have resigned after 600 years andthe second to have quit office in the history of Catholic Church. With Easter coming up towards the end of the month, it is expected that a new Pope would emerge ahead of the celebration, as the chosen one would celebrate the Easter mass. How a new Pope will be elected Pope Paul VI significantly changedthe rules for conclaves in 1975 when he promulgated the Apostolic Constitution Romano Pontifico Eligendo. He excluded all cardinals 80 years old or over from t ...
Religion rarely dominates global news headlines, but Pope Benedict's resignation has proven a notable exception. The mainstream media, usually reluctant to focus on matters of faith, is watching and reporting with fascination as the Catholic Church faces a historic and unprecedented transition. Thur...
The Ten Commandments of Reporting on the Vatican 1) Thou shalt leave your personal prejudices at the door. I have often seen Al Qaeda treated with more respect than Pope Benedict and the Roman Catholic Church. While you may disagree with the Church’s teaching on any number of things, there is no excuse to let your personal agenda define your coverage. In reporting on other world events, it is unthinkable to insert one’s personal ideas, so why is it acceptable when reporting on the Church? If all you can focus on is birth control, *** marriage and abortion and how the papacy should change its teaching, you should probably just go home. Whether you agree or disagree isn’t really the question. Your job is to understand and to report, to give background and help viewers and readers to get a sense of the bigger picture. Pope Benedict XVI has led the 1.2 billion members of the Catholic Church for 8 years, drawn crowds of millions in gatherings worldwide and brought a message of hope and love to the farthe ...
My vote for the new Papa (Pope) for the Catholic Church - Manila, Philippine's -Luis Antonio Tagle - a man who was recently elevated to Cardinal by Pope Benedict. A very common man who routinely rides a bicycle among the crowds as a common man and who has meals with the poor to share there needs and concerns for the church - 55 years old he would bring a youth to leadership and a third world perspective - could this make the message of Christ in the world more relevant? Absolutely!!! My prayer is for real discernment and a man of courage. Amen!!!
VIDEO: says farewell to Pope Benedict — & has a few tips to save the Catholic Church
It was only after two decades of frustration battling the Catholic Church on behalf of victims of clerical sexual abuse, Barbara Blaine said, that she and SNAP decided to take their case to "a court of last resort": the International Criminal Court in the Hague, Netherlands. The following is the homily delivered by fr. Irvin Salanio, S.J., the Presider for the First Friday Mass today, Mar. 1, 2013 at the Covered Courts of the Ateneo de Manila Grade School. Homily for March 1, 2013 In celebration of the Year of Faith God’s Self-revelation and the Human Person’s Response of Faith Dear brothers and sisters in Christ: At 3’oclock this morning, Manila time, Pope Benedict XVI resigned from being pope in the Catholic Church by reason of old age and failing health. This is history for us, and we are part of this history. The last pope to resign before Benedict XVI was Gregory XII in the year 1415, which is 598 years ago. Beginning today, all the Cardinals around the world, who are below 80 years old, 115 of them, will gather in Rome to begin their meetings in order to decide when they will begin their secret conclave in which they will vote for a new pope. Hopefully, two or three weeks from now, a new pope will be chosen. And we wait for that day when a new pope will be p ...
Reading Scott Hahn's Covenant and Communion on the Biblical theology of Benedict XVI Pope Emeritus. It's a really good summary of Benedict's work and shows how much this Pope worked to show the importance of a relationship with Jesus Christ through the prism of the Catholic Church is.
Vatican City (Reuters) - Pope Benedict left the Vatican on Thursday after pledging unconditional obedience to whoever succeeds him to guide the Roman Catholic Church at one of the most crisis-ridden periods in its 2,000-year history. The first pope in six centuries to step down, Benedict flew off in a white Italian air force helicopter for the papal summer villa south of the capital where he took up temporary residence. Bells rang out from St Peter's Basilica and churches all over Rome as the helicopter circled Vatican City and flew over the Colosseum and other landmarks to give the pontiff one last view of the city where he is also bishop. "As you know, today is different to previous ones," he told an emotional, cheering crowd in the small town of Castel Gandolfo in his last public remarks as pope. "I will only be the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church until 8 p.m and then no longer. I will simply be a pilgrim who is starting the last phase of his pilgrimage on this earth." He turned and went inside ...
As I sit in my hotel room watching the events in Rome unfold as Pope Benedict leaves the Vatican for the last time and arrives at Castle Gandolfo.I can't help but ponder that we have a African American in the White House and quite possibly could have a African in the Vatican as the head of the Catholic Church. Additionally there is much both from a theological perspective as well as a administrative point of view that we can learn from Pope Benedict's resignation! His words speak volumes when he declared "Only CHRIST is the head of the church!"
Jeff Anderson says as Pope Benedict steps down, the future of the Catholic Church depends on the next pope forcefully dealing with child sex abuse in its ranks.
Tomorrow the Pope Benedict steps down. May he have a enjoyable retirement and pray that the Cardinals pick a new one that will help lead the Catholic Church out of the dark period we have gotten in.

Today we publish a summary article and then the more useful full text of an incredible document about the entire homosexual problem in the Catholic Church that has recently exploded into the media. Folks, this is something you MUST read - the full document, that is. We have every good reason to tell you that what is written in this document is very likely all true. Yes, it is long, but it tells a tale that needs to be told, explaining many puzzling things have been going on for decades. We have never read anything that presents so well and so fully, in relatively few pages, the whole tale of how non-celibate homosexuals entered the Catholic clergy, stayed there for many years, rose to high or other influential positions in the Church, been by far the main cause of the sexual abuses and been extremely difficult to remove by Popes, faithful bishops, priests and laity. It also explains what can and must be done to finally rid the Church of this "filth" that Pope Benedict has been heroically tackling for many ...
View Bishop Sullivan's installation ceremony Bishop Dennis Sullivan set the tone for his years as Camden’s eighth bishop with the word Alleluia. Bishop Sullivan — who served as a pastor of a multicultural parish for years in New York City — said the word Alleluia, universally associated with joy, needs no translation. “It’s everybody’s language.”The word is not used in the Roman liturgy during Lent, so at his installation Mass in St. Agnes Church, Blackwood, on Tuesday, Feb. 12 — the day before Ash Wednesday — he said that as a “final fling” before the beginning of Lent, he wanted to “let the Alleluia ring out.” He offered an Alleluia for the Diocese of Camden, which just observed its 75th anniversary; to “our priests, now my brothers”; to Bishop Joseph Galante; to Jesus, who showed that true religion is not found in rules and regulations but in the heart; to the Catholic Church, currently observing a Year of Faith; to Pope Benedict; and to all who minister in Camden. “And, ...
Thought of the Day: On the CBS Evening News, Scott Pelley said that Pope Benedict will be Pope Emeritus after Friday. He then asked how the Catholic Church will deal with two popes? Scott, the same way CBS deals with two morons, Dan Rather and Scott Pelley. Not sure what's funnier, the stupid report or the feigned concern for the church.
The resignation of British Cardinal Keith O'Brien on Feb. 24 over allegations of inappropriate behaviour is the latest scandal facing the Catholic Church in the run-up to the election of the next pope in March. Here's a look at controversies that have emerged since Pope Benedict announced his resignation on Feb. 11. O'Brien's resignation On Feb. 24, the Vatican accepted the resignation of Cardinal Keith O’Brien, who heads the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland. The 74-year-old O'Brien faces misconduct allegations after three priests and one former priest within the Diocese of St. Andrews and Edinburgh filed complaints that he approached them in an inappropriate way, the Observer newspaper reported on Feb. 23. The physical advances allegedly took place as far back as 30 years ago. Although O’Brien is contesting the allegations, by stepping down he will no longer be a part of the conclave that will choose a new pope in March. "I do not wish media attention in Rome to be focused on me, but rather on Pope ...
Pope Benedict has changed Catholic Church rules to allow the conclave that will choose his successor to be held earlier if cardinals are ready, the Vatican said Monday. In a motu proprio – in effect, a personal decree – he introduced modifications to the laws governi …
Five myths about picking a pope By Thomas J. Reese, Published: February 22 Thomas J. Reese, a Jesuit priest, is a senior fellow at the Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University. He is the author of “Inside the Vatican: The Politics and Organization of the Catholic Church.” Next month, 116 cardinals from across the globe will gather inside the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, invoke the Holy Spirit and elect a pope to replace Benedict XVI, who’s resigning at the end of this month. Behind closed doors, cut off from the outside world, they will choose a leader who will have an impact on not only the Catholic Church but the entire planet. Let’s look at some of the misconceptions about how the cardinals will select the latest successor to Saint Peter. 1. Pope Benedict resigned, rather than remain in office until death, so he could influence the cardinals to elect someone like him. In Washington, we tend to be suspicious of the explanations politicians give for anything, but in the case of the po ...
Lay Catholics voice gratitude for 'inspired' Pope Washington D.C., Feb 11, 2013 / 06:02 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Prominent lay Catholics reacted with surprise and sorrow to Pope Benedict XVI's announcement that he will resign the papacy, but they praised his Christian life and service to the Catholic Church. Supreme Knight Carl Anderson of the Knights of Columbus underscored Catholics' thoughts and prayers are with Pope Benedict in his remaining days in office. “We wish him all the best in his retirement,” Anderson said. “In addition, we pray for all those cardinals who will take part in the conclave, and for his successor, that God may inspire them as they carry out the mission with which they are entrusted.” On Feb. 11, Pope Benedict announced that he would resign from his duties on Feb. 28, citing “advanced age” and deteriorating strength. The consistory of cardinals he had convoked will serve as a Papal Conclave. Anderson said the Pope “worked so hard in leading the Church” and has always ...
Pope Benedict, speaking in his last Sunday address before stepping down, said he was following God's wishes and that he was not abandoning the Catholic Church.
My dearly beloved daughter, the schism within the Catholic Church, as foretold, will now be witnessed, for all the world to see. The departure of My dearly beloved Holy Vicar, Pope Benedict XVI, marks the beginning of the end. I have, through you, My chosen prophet, over the last two years, tried to prepare My Church on earth for this sad event. The Masonic elite have grasped control over My Church and they will wield the most wicked deceit upon Catholics. The Keys of Rome are now within My Hands having been passed over to Me by My Father. I will direct all of My followers so that the Truth can be sustained and that My Holy Word remains intact. The False Prophet will now take over the Seat in Rome and My Word, just as it was in My Time on earth, will be treated as heresy.
I Love u Pope Benedict XVI, Happy Retirement and keep Praying for Catholic Church all over the Worlds, the Year of Faith which u declared we will keep it up.
On the occasion of Pope Benedict's last public blessing as Pope a factually oddity of the current Catholic Church that speaks volumes, in my opinion: 27% of Catholics worldwide are from Europe. 54% of the Cardinals that will elect the next Pope are from Europe. 24% from Italy alone.
The papacy of the reigning Pope of the Catholic Church has ended via a resignation notice. The resignation jolted the world! Pope Benedict xvi told the Vatican and the bewildered world that he is quitting on feb28 citing advance age.The truth is that the Pope has been radical on some scandalous current trends in the church! The Pope should really be applauded by all people pushing for reforms in the highly conservative Church!!!
As Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Pope Benedict harassed Osho in USA, South America and many European countries during the eighties; 31 years later he has resigned due to mounting scandals in the Vatican and the Catholic Church. “There is enough evidence that as Cardinal Ratzinger, Pope Benedict harassed Osho and prevented him from staying in over 20 countries. This needs to be investigated thoroughly to reveal the truth. Millions of Osho disciples across the globe want the truth to come out.” said Swami Chaitanya Keerti, a spokesperson of Osho World Foundation, New Delhi. Osho has declared, “There is every possibility that the Pope (at the time, John Paul II) suggested that I should be thrown out of America, that my commune should be completely destroyed, because this was the first time that a man from the East had taken so many Christians out of the Christian fold. And particularly intelligent, young, educated, sophisticated people… professors, doctors, scientists, electronic engineers, Nobel Prize ...
What Is Lent? What is Lent? Lent is the most profitable time to offer prayers, sacrifices and alms in reparation for the sins in our lives. Lent is the period of preparation for the celebration of the greatest Christian mystery, the death of Christ on Good Friday and His Resurrection on Easter Sunday. It is a 40-day period marked by prayer, fasting and abstinence, and almsgiving. We join the Catholic Church in her wise advice to pray and do penance. The better we prepare through Lent fasting and praying. What is Lent without sorrow for our sins, prayers and sacrifices? “Lent is like a long ‘retreat’ during which we can turn back into ourselves and listen to the voice of God, in order to defeat the temptations of the Evil One. It is a period of spiritual ‘combat’ which we must experience alongside Jesus, not with pride and presumption, but using the arms of faith: prayer, listening to the word of God, and penance. In this way we will be able to celebrate Easter in truth, ready to renew the promis ...
A MAN of grace and wisdom, Pope Benedict XVI recognised that at almost 86 he no longer had the stamina to give the Catholic Church and its 1.1 billion members the leadership it deserves and needs. The job would be daunting for anyone half that age.
Beyond being a shocker, Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to step aside due to old age and ill-health may have revolutionised the Catholic Church while...
This is a wonderful recognition of Msgr Wilkinson's past service to his people in Canada as an Anglican bishop. As well, Pope Benedict has recognized the sacrifice and faithfulness Msgr Peter has shown in shepherding his people into the full communion of the Catholic Church
Progressive Catholic theologian Hans Küng, whose authority to teach Catholic theology was rescinded by the Vatican in 1979, spoke to SPIEGEL about the challenges facing the next pope and the need for reform of the Catholic Church. SPIEGEL: What will change now that Pope Benedict XVI has resigned? Hans Küng: There is now a realization that a pope should step down when the time has come. Joseph Ratzinger made it very clear that he could no longer fulfill his duties. His predecessor felt he had to turn his death into a show. Fortunately, Benedict chose another way, in order to demonstrate that when a pope is no longer capable of doing his job, he should give it up. This is exactly how the office should be approached. In John Paul II's final years, we weren't led by a pope so much as by a curia, which governed the Church in his place. SPIEGEL: Who would you like to see lead your Church as pope? Hans Küng: A pope who is not intellectually stuck in the Middle Ages, one who does not represent mediaeval theolo ...
PAKISTAN Children "Evangelizers" in the Year of the Faith Lahore (Agenzia Fides) - During the present Year of the Faith, proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI, little children are among the protagonists in evangelizing activities of the local Catholic Church in Lahore. Learning what it means to be a Christian and growing in the faith, Pakistan Catholic children soon become "real evangelizers": said a source of the local Church which yesterday marked the annual "Missionary Childhood Day". Hundreds of children, led by Fr Francis Nadeem, OFM Cap, at St Joseph's church, renewed the promise to live and to deepen the faith by taking part catechesis and study and bearing Christian witness in the family, at school, and in society. "Our children have an important role to play within the Christian community and in efforts to help other less fortunate children", said Fr. Nadeem, who added that he had encouraged to children to be "ever more involved in missionary activity, helping poor or disabled children or those who are ...
Truth, at least as the Catholic Church understands it, is best demonstrated, not by carefully reasoned arguments (though those are important) and certainly not by violence, but by self-giving love. There is nothing more compelling, nothing more true, than sacrificial love.
Are there actually any credible sources reporting that Pope Benedict has a warrant for his arrest? I'm not seeing them. All I see is "yahoo answers" on the subject. I find that odd. Is it just the usual Catholic Church bashing and idiotic gossip, or is it fact?
You might feel some backlash: When the Pope Benedict claimed that as recently as the 1970s, "pedophilia was theorized as something fully in conformity with man and even with children." In this climate, the Catholic Church's actions were merely reflecting the moral relativism of the times: "It was maintained — even within the realm of Catholic theology — that there is no such thing as evil in itself or good in itself," Benedict said. That is, church leaders weren't sure if child sexual abuse was wrong, since secular society seemed to accept it. Also see:
Once again my friend, who loves the Catholic Church and the Pope as I do, speaks the hard truth in deep love. Nothing short of a renewal/purification of the inside of the Church is needed. This is not about progressive vs. conservative. This is about addressing deep problems honestly and humbly. Thank you Pope Benedict for doing all that you could and for real courage and grace.
OK, Sinead O'Connor's kinda nuts now. But in 1992, at the height of her creativity and fame, she tore up a picture of Pope John Paul Ii, protesting the Catholic Church's sexual abuse cove-rup, calling it "the real enemy." " Now Sinead posts: “I would like to congratulate Pope Benedict on his wise decision to retire before the very worst of what has been going on is discovered. I appreciate his alluding to some of it in his statement and assure him The Most High forgives those who can faithfully say they did wrong.” And the backhand: "The church had been brought into dreadful disrepute by lies and blasphemies against The Holy Spirit. Benedict’s greatest achievement is this act of retiring. There is a chance now for the church to be re-built and made fit to house The Holy Spirit." I'm not quite as semi-forgiving as Sinead seems to be, as the former Nazi-youth Pope Staggers off into the sunset - good riddance to bad trash - and the hope for anyone vaguely reformist to take his place is dim. What do you ...
has Cardinal Sarr, but we prayed for Pope Benedict & Catholic Church in Dakar last night-re prays for Peter Turkson
So the outgoing Pope Benedict the 6th did say appointing female priest's would be "CRIMINAL" and that contraceptives are "EVIL" ? Unbelievable! The Catholic church is sure in need of a Y2K compliant Pope and if they end up appointing another stone age Pope, then the Catholic Church would need to upgrade his operating system. We are dealing with a mediaeval Catholic church that needs to get real or continue to lose "followers" to modern day jet riding pentecostal pastors, who use modern bussiness tools in the pursuit of increased "customer" base. kayode ogundamasi
Looks like folks are about to get in the pocket book of the RCC and they have already provided an escape route for the pope. Money is everything to this corrupt organization. On Friday, February 1, 2013, on the basis of evidence supplied by our affiliated Common Law Court of Justice (itccs.org), our Office concluded an agreement with representatives of a European nation and its courts to secure an arrest warrant against Joseph Ratzinger, aka Pope Benedict, for Crimes Against Humanity and ordering a criminal conspiracy. The Tribunal and the unnamed European nation intend to take a lien against the property and wealth of the Catholic Church, beginning on Easter Sunday March 31. They are calling it an “Easter Reclamation Campaign," part of which involves citizens seizing the assets of the Church under international law and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The basic purpose of the action is stated at the end of the document issued by The International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and ...
How does one hold Joe Paterno responsible for knowing Jerry Sandusky was molesting children and not doing anything about it while letting Pope Benedict off the hook for the same immoral action? "As Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, it was Benedict’s old office that dealt with abuse cases, yet he never admitted failure by himself or of the Vatican, and never punished bishops who ignored or covered up the abuse." If you are Roman Catholic, as am I, and it offends you more to hear the name of the Pope besmirched over and above the Catholic Church accepting responsibility for their inaction in saving children from sexual monsters, perhaps you should look deeply into the tenets of your own faith and decide if you are sincere or a hypocrite.
1. Cardinal Peter Turkson Image by Max Rossi / Reuters Country: Ghana. Position: President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. Age: 64. Why He Might Be Elected: Africa is one of the fastest-growing regions in Catholicism. In 2008, Pope Benedict said that the election of a black pontiff would "send a splendid signal to the world" about the universal nature of the Catholic Church. Turkson speaks six languages and is one of the more visible members of the Church, who comes across as both likeable and pragmatic in his public appearances. His extensive pastoral experience in Africa is also a point in his favor. Why He Might Not Be Elected: Turkson sparked controversy in October 2012 when he screened a YouTube video that made alarmist predictions about the growth of Islam in Europe at an international meeting of bishops. Also, as the National Catholic Reporter points out: "As the head of a Pontifical Council (which doesn't really wield binding authority over much of anything), Turkson hasn't fully ...
I attend Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Peace (a Communion of Independent Catholic Churches parish). The Sunday Mass is a regular Catholic service with the same Eucharist and prayers the Roman Catholic Church offers. Our church celebrates diversity and welcomes people from different life styles. You can take holy communion without going to confession because our sins our forgiven during the service when the priest gives General Absolution. The church is not restrictive as other branches of the Catholic Church, and so divorced/remarried people, LGBTQ folks, and re(dis)covering Catholics find it easy to have their concerns addressed. We agree with Pope Benedict who said: "Therefore, there exists a single Church of Christ, which subsists in the Catholic Church, governed by the Successor of Peter and by the Bishops in communion with him. The Churches which, while not existing in perfect communion with the Catholic Church, remain united to her by means of the closest bonds, that is, by apostolic succession and a v ...

Pope Benedict XVI has celebrated his last Mass as Pope in St Peter's Basilica in Rome following the surprise announcement that he is to retire. He presided over an Ash Wednesday ceremony marking the start of the Catholic Church's season of Lent.
Part Two of Three (Pope...) Caleb was from the family of the man Esau, who was given to the classic passivity of men, (he sold his birthright because dinner was late). Yet Caleb was so “unpassive” that he overcame family spirits and traditions and became an Israelite. Then, when the Israelites in large part abandoned the Lord, he was not moved by his “new tradition”, and chose to follow God even if it meant he had to stand alone! He was not anti-semitic (*) when he was an Edomite, but neither was he a slavish Israelite wannabe! He was doggedly faithful to God, come what may. As such, he was well named, for Caleb means “dog”. How does this relate to the resignation of Benedict XVI ? I believe the great weakness AND the great strength of the Catholic Church is tradition. Tradition has given Catholics stability and heritage but it has also kept them from really dealing with the sins of their past and being “born again” again. Caleb as we have just seen was a man born into a strong tradition t ...
When Cardinal Ratzinger became Pope Benedict, virtually everyone wanted him to do well and to lead the Catholic Church toward the highest values of love and justice in the global world of faith. There was reason for hope.

BEYOND RELIGION AND CULTURE: As a kid then and due to the severe indoctrinations of the Catholic Church and how we were disciplined to respect the priests and how the priests reverence the Bishops to the Pope, there were myths surrounding the Pope - we thought that he was God that never dies, let alone resigning, till Pope John Paul Ii died and Pope Benedict resigns. -Odimegwu Onwumere, Poet/Author, Rivers State
Everyone who is saying good riddance to Pope Benedict XVI, I agree whole heartedly. However you've got to realize that the Catholic Church has been covering up and denying the molestation & abuse of women & children worldwide for CENTURIES. This isn't gonna change a DERN THING. It's just the same as moving a sex-offending priest from one parish to another; it DOESN'T MATTER b/c they're still degenerate. Pope Benedict's perversion, fame & prominance won't gonna go away just b/c he steps down. People will still bring their children to see him, they will still visit him in Rome & the Vatican will then be filled again with ANOTHER pervert, along with many parishes across the world. As long as these drones keep covering it up & defending these wicked PREEVERTS it'll keep going on. The devil inhabits the Pope and the entire establishment for that matter; period, point blank. The corruption is insurmountable, unconscionable and UNENDING. Therefore, come out from among her... bottom line; & stop sitting under lea ...
My least favorite language trend these days: Interviewer: So would say the Steelers have a good chance of bouncing back next season? Steelers expert: Absolutely. I think the Steelers ... Inteviewer: Do you think Pope Benedict made the right decision in resigning? Vactican expert: Absolutely. If the Catholic Church . Interviewer: Are we going to be seeing more bare midriffs on the runway this season? Fashion expert: Absolutely. A touch of skin .
Old age and health issues are the reasons Pope Benedict is resigning as the leader of the Catholic Church. We have our own theories. Here are the; Top 5 Real Reasons the Pope is Resigning. 5) There are things on his Bucket List he still wants to do. Like, wear jeans. 4) You know how boring ONE mass is? Try doing that seven times a week. 3) He'd never seen a pope resign and he wanted to know what color smoke they'd release. 2) Now that they're both retired, he and Ray Lewis can take that long-planned cross-country road trip. 1) Popin' ain't easy.
As we continue to wish and express our gratitude for Pope Benedict his faithful ministry as Successor of St. Peter, his life of scholarship and his faithful leadership of the Catholic Church. One hallmarks of Pope Benedict XVI is his humility and pastoral concern in putting the good of the Church first in his discernment. I cherish the pectoral cross he gave to us. His astute visionary leadership and keeper and defender of the faith. We pray that Gods light may continue to enrich him and enjoy his retirement. During his nearly eight year papacy, we have been witness to his keen intellect through his marvelous encyclicals: Salt of the earth,God is Love, In Hope We Are Saved and Charity in Truth. His Jesus of Nazareth book series is inspirational. Giving thanks to our Heavenly Father for the pope’s lifetime of dedicated, selfless service to the Church.
brutally honest but good Opinion Piece about Catholic Church and Pope Benedict resignation.
HELLO FRIENDS, ANCESTOR BACK IN ABUJA! I AM RESIGNING TOO! Wonders shall never end. My friend just called me now to say that since the Pope has indicated interest to resign he is also resigning from being a Christian. Thank God he just changed his mind after our conversation. My simple question to him was: were you baptized into the Church on the condition that Pope Benedict will remain the Pope? My conviction is that this too will pass away. The Canon Law which is the compendium of laws governing the Catholic Church makes provision for the resignation of the Pope. Canon 332 no. 2 states: “If it should happen that the Roman Pontiff resigns his office, it is required for validity that he makes the resignation freely and that it be duly manifested, but not that it be accepted by anyone”. There is no doubt that this canon has been evoked either in the deposition or resignation of Popes. Students of history will know that this is not the first time a Pope is resigning. When Pope Pontian resigned as Pope a ...
Pope Resigns: Frontrunners Emerge For Role:FRANCIS ARINZE OF NIGERIA Four frontrunners have emerged in the search for a new Pope following the shock resignation of Benedict XVI. The major contenders to be Pope Benedict's successor include Cardinal Angelo Scola, Cardinal Peter Turkson, Cardinal Marc Ouellet and Cardinal Francis Arinze. Possible Pope Successors The prominence among the candidates of Cardinal Arinze, of Nigeria, and Cardinal Turkson, of Ghana, has raised hopes that the Catholic Church may appoint its first black Pope. Catholic worshippers and clergy in Africa - where the church is rapidly growing - greeted the news of Benedict XVI's resignation with surprise. Pope Benedict XVI Resigns But it has also led church leaders to speculate whether the next Pontiff may come from an African nation. "I think we would have a better chance of getting someone outside of the northern hemisphere this time, because there are some really promising cardinals from other parts of the world," Cardinal Wilfrid Nap ...
I am incensed that Hugh Hewitt uses the night Pope Benedict announces his abdication to present that wingnut David Allan White to present his thoughts on the Catholic Church he charges the College of Cardinals is rife with liberals and used an old Malachi Martin prediction that a Pope would resign than be replaced by a liberal anti pope who would be the toast of the world and a one world leader hearing this to me sounded scary and spooky
A note on Pope Benedict XVI’s sins and crimes (excerpted from the book *** Lies, Sad Truths — the Evidence that Links Homosexuality and Pedophilia”: The sexual abuse of children — the vast majority of them boys — by “pedophile priests” has created the biggest crisis for the Roman Catholic Church since the Protestant Reformation in the first half of the 16th century. As with that great historical schism, the church leaders, all the way up to and including the present Pope, Benedict XVI, have been found grievously wanting in terms of humanity, honesty, integrity, moral leadership, and, according to their own tenets, Christian love and obedience to God’s word. That said, the Catholic Church is certainly not alone in its toleration of sexual deviancy. * * * In February 2010 Pope Benedict held belated crisis talks with 24 Irish bishops at the Vatican, shortly after which he accepted the resignation of Bishop John Magee of Cloyne, who stands accused of mishandling reports of sexual abuse in h ...

With the resignation of our Pope Benedict, one has to wonder will a new Pope bring a renewed spirit to the Catholic Church that is inclusive, faith-based and deals with crime like sex-abuse more honestly? Malachy's Prophecies - The Last 10 Popes " The Pope announced his resignation today. For those of you interested in stuff like this...read and be amazed! :-) *Benedict XVI is the 111th pope in the prophecy of Saint Malachy. Petrus Romanus will be 112th** Born in 1094 A.D. at Armagh, Ireland, Saint Malachy is also known as: Maolmhaodhog ua Morgair; Maol Maedoc; and Malachy O'Morgair. He died as he himself predicted, on November 2, 1148 at Clairvaux, France. Malachy was canonized the first Irish Saint in the Catholic Church by Pope Clement III in 1190 A.D. In 1139 AD, a man named St. Malachy was given a prophetic vision. He saw all of the Catholic Popes that would come in the future. He wrote down a short description of each one. Throughout history, each one has been accurate. He foresaw 112 Popes until Jesus returned and that # 111 would see the beginning of the tribulation. The current Pope is # 111. Here's a link to the story and a reprint of the story as well: It gets more interesting...:-) Papal Proph ...
Please keep Fr. Terry Donahue in your prayers. He will be interviewed on Canada Live (Sun News) tomorrow, February 12, between 11am and 12pm. The interview is regarding the recent resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. Some of the topics to be covered are: -the process of electing a new pope -how long the process will take -the nature of the Pope’s resignation -how long will the Catholic Church go without a leader -is there a so-called “sub-in” in the meantime -the effects of this matter on the church
Pope Benedict XVI says he will resign this month because his age prevents him from carrying out his duties, an unprecedented move in the modern history of the Catholic Church.
God Bless Pope Benedict and all those entrusted to choose the next leader of the Catholic Church.
Pope Benedict resigned. I am hopeful that the Church will choose someone from where the the Church is growing and strong (like Africa or Latin America). But whoever is picked, he will be my Pope. If you have an issue with the Catholic Church or the Papacy, please respect my beliefs and do your venting elsewhere.
Well, Church (Universal) history geeks like me are in for a treat. The Holy Father (using his proper title) Pope Benedict the XVI has decided to abdicate the office of Pope at the end of the month. This is the first time in 600 years that a living Pontiff has stepped down. WOW! We are going to get to see a second Conclave of this century. No matter what you think of the Catholic Church, they ARE the oldest Christian denomination on the planet, and the place where YOUR church started (by the Reformation of course). I would encourage my friends of faith, and those who don't claim faith, to pay attention to this historic even over the next several weeks.
Pope Benedict is resigning on February 28, citing "advanced age". Two things come to mind: 1. Popes don't resign because of their age, or their health. They serve until they die. Pope John Paul Ii could barely move, yet he didn't resign. Does anyone think there's more to this than age or health? 2. Maybe the Vatican can "resign" some of its antiquated policies that are driving followers away in droves (except in Latin American and Africa). This could be an opportunity to nominate a Pope who can restore the Catholic Church's standing in the world as a uniting force for good, not the divisive and hypocritical organization that it has become.
Yesterday I realized that Monday would be day 11, and then I thought we'd wake up with some shocking news event or at any time ... but I figured that would be the resignation of the pope that despite being announced on the 11th, not effective until February 28! Pope Benedict will step down as head of the Catholic Church on Feb. 28, a Vatican spokesman says
The pope was speaking at a meeting of a Vatican foundation to promote the church’s social doctrine. Note that the terms “common good,” “solidarity,” etc, are terms that imply global cooperation. The term “ethics” implies moral principles defined by religion. Benedict is saying that religion, or moral principles, should guide the nations in their global governance. Benedict is trying to position the Catholic Church to be the guide of modern globalism. Benedict is essentially advocating a one-world religion that will solve the problems of the world through global cooperation. “All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him.” Revelation 13:8.
A Roman Catholic priest whose decades-old molestation of a former altar boy at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Salem led to a $6.3 million payout in an Illinois lawsuit has been kicked out of the priesthood by Pope Benedict XVI.
I would like to reflect in particular on the meaning of the word “catholic,” a word which indicates an essential feature of the Church and her mission. [From Wiki] Pope Pius XI's 1930 encyclical entitled Casti Connubii confirmed the Church's position opposing birth control: "Since, therefore, openly departing from the uninterrupted Christian tradition some recently have judged it possible solemnly to declare another doctrine regarding this question, the Catholic Church, ... in order that she may preserve the chastity of the nuptial union from being defiled by this foul stain, ... proclaims anew: any use whatsoever of matrimony exercised in such a way that the act is deliberately frustrated in its natural power to generate life is an offense against the law of God and of nature, and those who indulge in such are branded with the guilt of a grave sin."

On Jan. 26, the Catholic Church celebrates the liturgical memorial of Saints Timothy and Titus, close companions of the Apostle Paul and bishops of the Catholic Church in its earliest days. Both men received letters from St. Paul, which are included in the New Testament. Pope Benedict XVI discussed these early bishops during a general audience on Dec. 13, 2006, noting “their readiness to take on various officesâ in “far from easyâ circumstances. Both saints, the Pope said, “teach us to serve the Gospel with generosity, realizing that this also entails a service to the Church herself.â The son of a Jewish mother and a non-Jewish father, Timothy came from Lystra in present-day Turkey. His mother, Eunice, and his grandmother, Lois, are known to have joined the Church, and Timothy himself is described as a student of Sacred Scripture from his youth. After St. Paul’s visit to Timothy’s home region of Lycaonia, around the year 51, the young man joined the apostle and accompanied him in ...

For decades, retired Cardinal Roger Mahony and other high ranking members of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles made secret efforts to shield child molesting priests. Their aim was to keep their parishioners in the dark and control the damage to the church, church personnel files have revealed. According to the Daily Mail, previously confidential records filed in a lawsuit against the archdiocese disclose how the church handled abuse allegations for decades. They also reveal that a top Mahony aide criticized his superiors for covering up all the allegations of abuse, rather than protecting children and alerting the authorities. Notes s ...

Pope’s Butler Arrested in Leak Scandal, Vatican Says Posted by Fox News in US & World News on May 26, 2012 11:42 AM Vatican City – The Vatican confirmed Saturday that the pope’s butler had been arrested in its embarrassing leaks scandal, adding a Hollywood twist to a sordid tale of power struggles, intrigue and corruption in the highest levels of Catholic Church governance. Paolo Gabriele, a layman who lives inside Vatican City, was arrested Wednesday with secret documents in his possession and was being held Saturday, the Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said in a statement. Gabriele is often seen by Pope Benedict XVI’s side in public, riding in the front seat of his open-air jeep during Wednesday general audiences or shielding the pontiff from the rain. He has been the pope’s personal butler since 2006, one of the few members of the small papal household that also includes the pontiff’s private secretaries and four consecrated women who care for the papal apartment. Lombardi said ...
Pope Benedict unwittingly performed an exorcism of two men possessed by the Devil in the very heart of the Vatican, according to the Catholic Church's best-known exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth.
I just don't express myself to non-Catholic Christians, I also include those who call themselves Catholic and do not follow the teachings of Christ. I can say this, because at one point in time, I was one myself. I know better now and I want share with all of you, Catholic or not, to know more about the GIFT given to us at our baptism. Read below. See if you fall under this. If you do, let us help each other become better Catholics. With Christ. Cafeteria Catholics There is this sect of Catholicism called Cafeteria Catholics. These Catholics decide for themselves which doctrines of the Catholic Church they like, and which ones they don't like. The ones they like, they obey and tout to others. But the ones they don't like, they disobey and then they badmouth the Pope and the Church. This is so wrong, because that's EXACTLY what Martin Luther did way back during the 16th Century with his so-called "Reformation." Martin Luther loved all of the dogmas about the Blessed Virgin Mary, including the Immac ...
Some one commented on Nicole's post that Christianity was started by Christ's apostles and disciples! That is wrong!! Christ said "you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church"! He also said "go forth and teach all nations...". Jesus Christ founded the Catholic Church and Pope Benedict can trace his succession back the Apostle Peter!

Just a few days ago, Pope Benedict said that "the laity should be seen as truly 'co-responsible' for the Church, and not just 'collaborators' with the clergy." Are we as people of the Church, the Body of Christ, taking responsibility to get involved and build up the Body of Christ, using our God-given gifts? Let us begin to take initiative in this responsibility which is ours as Christians and humbly and prayerfully discern where God is calling us. Go where your gifts are and in humility, not self-entitlement, approach your priests to offer to serve. To begin, ask yourself: "What are my gifts, the things I am passionate about, and what are my talents?" Pray and discover those! Then ask the your priest: "How can I use these gifts I have to serve Christ and build up our Catholic Church?" We as laity must take an active role!
"Charity is at the heart of the Catholic Church's social doctrine." Pope Benedict XVI,
Why is the pope wearing a Yarmulke? Please explain. The Pope *** Up to Israel Pope Benedict w/ Shimon Peres and Bibi Netanyahu Pope Benedict w/ Peres & Netanyahu Pope Benedict has made several visits to Israel where he blatantly *** up to them and praises them. Jews Demonize the Vatican Agent of Israel Agent of Israel There are multiple instances where Israel and Jews have attempted to demonize the Vatican when they aren’t co-operative or subservient to their will. One example is the Jewish-controlled mass media going on a massive demonization campaign against Catholic priests (i.e. Jesuits) with accusations of pedophilia and Satanism. While some of these accusations have proven to be true, many of these claims could easily be embellished or fabricated by the Jewish-controlled mass media when the Vatican does something the Jews don’t like — for instance when the Vatican strongly OPPOSED the Iraq war. Blackmail anyone? And whose to say that these Pedophiles and Satanists in the Catholic Church ar ...
The Battle for Values A friend sent a video clip from GBTV where Glen Beck was talking about a recent trip to the Vatican. He said he had met with members of the Catholic hierarchy who candidly reported that the Catholic Church is in a fight for the soul of the church. Pope Benedict, who is 85-years-old, realizes that his time on earth is short. He is alarmed by a drift in the Church from fundamental values essential for Christianity. He is conservative so he has recently elevated 33 conservative priests to be Cardinals, a move which followed a similar step several months back. He is, in Becks words, "packing the court". That is to say, he fears the liberal element will take over and the church will give up its values. The major case in point is abortion. Many U.S. politicians seem determined to force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions even though the Catholic Church teaches that protecting life is central to their faith. Let's face it, when a church teaches that it is a mortal sin to use contracepti ...
• Are there any Holy Shepherds? TThe Holy Father recently gave a talk on May 20 to close advisors. He called them and us to be consciously part of the Church Militant. I am there. Ready to fight against all evil. Not just for myself but within myself and for generations to come. But to be part of a military means you need a general. My grandfather was a General. I do not know about you but I lost my general trust in Church leadership after the sex abuse scandal hit in 2002. As an attorney I read way too many depositions and law suits. Brought me to my knees in horror. I lost all trust except in the two men I followed steadfastly. Some might accuse me of stalking them. But I saw them as true Generals that I could entrust my soul to...listening to every word they spoke and or wrote. John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. Some might call me obsessed with them. I would not call it obsessed I would call it life preserving. I wanted to jump ship. They kept me on board The Holy Ship of the Catholic Church. They g ...
The Saints of the Catholic Church are the men and women that the Church has raised up before the us as examples of holiness. And it is in seeing these examples that we, the faithful religious alike, feel encouraged and enabled to strive for the life of holiness that we are called to. With all of that said, this album is not just about “showcasing” the Saints, but also about providing a place to learn about them. So, this album not only has the pictures of these Saints, but it also has their feast days (if I know them), and at least one link with a biography about them. And if anyone feels that they have a good source of information, please send it to me and I will add it below the picture.

From an article by Father Bob Pierson of Minnesota. Catholics, take heed: “Freedom of Conscience.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church states in human person] has the right to act in conscience and in freedom so as personally to make moral decisions. “He must not be forced to act contrary to his conscience. Nor must he be prevented from acting according to his conscience, especially in religious matters.” Dignitatis Humanae 3 § 2. A young theologian by the name of Joseph Ratzinger, whom many of you know now as Pope Benedict XVI, put it this way in 1967: "Over the pope as expression of the binding claim of ecclesiastical authority, there stands one's own conscience which must be obeyed before all else, even if necessary against the requirement of ecclesiastical authority.”
Yesterday, the Vatican announced that Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Samuel Aquila as the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Denver. I would like to welcome Archbishop Aquila back to Colorado and wish him the best of luck as he leads the Catholic Church in Colorado. Colorado’s Catholics are blessed to have such a capable and well-respected leader.

Pope Benedict XVI appoints new Archbishop of the Lagos Diocese
Pope Benedict has a seriously clouded reason here: He states that we, the Church should have respect for false religions? The same very religions which on a spiritual level send to many souls to count to *** daily but the concilair church always takes things on the human or natural level they ignore that. It also ties into the masonic thinking of the building up of the human person, or progree or development, stay form the concilair church! Second paragraph reiterates the concilair church teaching that it is the humanatarian or police for religious intolerance or separatism or fundamentalism. Sad times the Church in apostasy no longer teaching the Catholic Church is thee only way. Then the reiteration of the new humanism, which is masonic but it is tried so as to be incorporated into Catholicism when its oil and water they dont go together "It is the natural and dynamic centre of the projects with which, in the third millennium, the "building Palace" of Rome is teeming. God's Choice: Pope Benedict XVI and the Future of the Catholic Church (Paperback)
A reporter asked me this morning why I feel there has been so much news about the Catholic Church recently. (If you scan the news feeds for the past couple weeks, there are several thousand entries for the Catholic Church.) I responded that it is my personal opinion that the hierarchy is going out of its way to avoid the fact that we are in the midst of the tenth anniversary of the sexual abuse crisis. In June of 2002, U.S. bishops held an emergeny meeting to discuss this crisis. (The crisis continues.) In order to divert attention away from this anniversary, bishops have issued a steady stream of edicts that have obviously caught the attention of the media. Ironically, these edicts have sexual overtones (contraception, criticisms of nuns, criticisms of Girl Scouts, threats against those who support either the ordination of women or married priests, etc.). In the end, Pope Benedict XVI may achieve his wish. At the beginning of his papacy, he indicated he would rather have a smaller church of faith ...
I made a mistake in an earlier post concerning Pope Benedict XVI because of the reason below. Pope Benedict XVI is a successor to St. Peter, the first Pope. Jesus said "Thou art Peter, and upon this Rock (meaning Peter), I will build my Church, the Catholic Church. I was so tired last night and was concentrating on a trip to Jim Thorpe next week with 3 of my cousins on my dad's side of the family and also I am going to my cousin David Yaich's daughter and husband's renewal of their 25th wedding anniversary. There is a church service and then a reception afterwards in a large hall with music and dancing. I love to dance and will have a great time. The invitation stated "25 Years of torching each other". Cheryl Lynn said they have had 25 years of the most wonderful, happy, passionate marriage. I am so happy for her and her husband.
These days, you can get a deal on anything. Even salvation! Pope Benedict has announced that his faithful can once again pay the Catholic Church to ease
Pray for Pope Benedict XVI THIS IS TRULY URGENT A friend of mine sent me a video of Glenn Beck's program speaking about the Vatican. Please watch the video. The latest message from the Blessed Mother (March 20, 2012) below is asking us to pray for Pope Benedict XVI every day for a month because he is in danger of being exiled from Rome. The Vatican is being accused of money laundering by the U.S. (Obama's admin) and Chase Bank has closed the Vatican's bank account. This is what our Lord Jesus and what the Book of Revelation have prophesied - persecution of the Catholic Church and Christian churches. This stems from the Catholic Church's stand against the Obamacare's mandate to provide contraception and abortion to employees under the Catholic Church. Please read, pray and discern the following message with the help of the Holy Spirit, and act accordingly and share with others as the Holy Spirit moves you. Be prepared for what is to come. Our Lord Jesus has been warning us in the past several months ...

Thought for the month - "Nuns have triumphed over an errant hierarchy before. In the 19th century, the Catholic Church excommunicated an Australian nun named Mary MacKillop after her order exposed a pedophile priest. Sister Mary was eventually invited back to the church and became renowned for her work with the poor. In 2010, Pope Benedict canonized her as Australia’s first saint. “Let us be guided” by Sister Mary’s teachings, the pope declared then. Amen to that. " Nicholas D. Kristof

Religious freedom does not just mean freedom of worship but freedom to not be penalized by the government for following Christian beliefs. (Pope Benedict XVI spoken during past World Day of Peace). Many of us know this already. Who leads America, God or totalitarianism/secularism? Some people think religion takes away their freedom, it is the other way around. Promiscuity of all kinds takes away your freedom because it weakens your will and the more addictions we have the weaker our wills become. Want freedom, true freedom, repent, believe in the Good News of Salvation and go to confession. What are you waiting for! Want a well informed conscience check out the Catechism of the Catholic Church, read and pray with the Bible, frequent the sacraments, pray daily, even the Rosary. Check out Faithful CItizenship and CatholicVote.org. See what you think of the issues that affect all of us and our children and their children to come and so forth. I CARE ABOUT YOU! I CARE ABOUT YOUR SOUL!
Speaking of the pope and things that are just like Hitler: Just in time for Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Vatican is reportedly considering allowing the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) back into its fold. The Society, noted for its virulent anti-Semitism, had been excommunicated, but Pope Benedict XVI lifted the order in 2009. Now, the Pope once again has reached out to the group to attempt "reconciliation," and has requested that it sign a "doctrinal preamble." [...] In 2009, when the Pope first lifted the group's ex-communication, Haaretz reported that a team of journalists from Joods Actueel, a Jewish publication based in Antwerp, had documented a large amount of anti-Semitic material on the SSPX society websites, in five languages. [...] The Vatican may get the SSPX back into communion with the Catholic Church, but they will not be able to scrub the mouth of Bishop Richard Williamson, a member of the society, who in 2009 denied the Holocaust. The "good" Bishop is also somewhat of a 9/11 truther.
It is amazing to think how Pope Benedict is the most intelligent pope the Catholic Church has ever had! If you get a chance read some of his stuff its amazing, then reread it and it only gets deeper and deeper into the Truth.
Pope Benedict XVI said he never wanted to be Pope but took the helm of the Catholic Church in the midst of an unprecedented storm.
I apologize to my Catholic friends if this offends you, but the Pope is wrong. The world is a significantly better place than it has ever been in the history of mankind. Despite my strong political disagreements with our current President I think Jesus would have an enormous smile on his face knowing that another political party with an unprecedented African American as its leader took control without bloodshed. I think Jesus would be happy that the strong nations are spending incredible resources on the less fortunate and building up smaller nations into great ones I.e the Arab Spring. Easter is not a day for the Catholic Church to continue its guilt propaganda it's a day to celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ so Pope Benedict.Back Off! Happy Easter
