Calvert County is a county located in the U.S. state of Maryland. It occupies the Calvert Peninsula which is bordered on the east by the Chesapeake Bay and on the west by the Patuxent River. The Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany (Frederick Augustus; 16 August 1763 – 5 January 1827) was a member of the Hanoverian and British Royal Family, the second eldest child, and second son, of King George III. 4.7/5

Ponch Fabricante Hey Calvert County hope all are well.it's that time of the year again so we want to give the residents in the Calvert a Heads up.This coming Saturday June 7th will be the 6th annual Josh's ride to benefit the Huntingtown VFD.This is a very large motorcycle event that starts out in Broomes Island.We will be leaving Broomes Island at about 11:00 am on Saturday morning heading up thru Prince Frederick and making a right onto Plum Point road down to a left turn on Cox road which will take us across route 4 to the Huntingtown Fire Department.the bike will arrive at the Huntingtown VFD at about 11:45 and depart from there at about 1:00 and head to the Huntingtown Methodist Church for a graveside service after the ceremony the bikes will leave the church head down Huntingtown rd to Lowery rd and up to Bowie shop rd and back out to route 4 heading south.the group will then make a right turn on Stokely rd and take the back roads out to route 231 and head west across the Benedict bridge.the group w ...

Please consider sending Joan a thank you for helping increase cycling safety on our roads by reminding motorists that we may be there and that we have the legal right to share the roadway: Good morning Sue, A work order has been issued for installation of the Share the Road signs. This work will be done within 30 days, weather and scheduling permitting. Gubernatorial Candidate to Visit Southern Maryland Harford County Executive David R. Craig will visit Southern Maryland to announce his candidacy for Maryland State Governor in the 2014 election. He will talk about the future of Maryland at a June 4 rally in Calvert County. The event will be at noon in front of the Calvert County Courthouse located at 175 Main St., Prince Frederick. “It’s going to rock,” said spokesperson Vinnie Mascarenhas about the event, adding there will be musical entertainment and opportunities to speak to local county officials, such as Delegate Mark Fisher. Craig will attend the Calvert County Commissioners meeting before the rally to address the Calvert commissioners about topics such as gun control and Southern Maryland businesses during their public comment period, Mascarenhas said. Mary Frances Dunbar, 90, of St. Leonard, MD died in Prince Frederick on August 9, 2012. She was born in Ringgold, Virginia to the late Thomas and Mamie Large Lakey. She had lived in Calvert County for the last 28 years. She retired from Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and Calvert Cliffs Power Plant. Her volunteer work included Calvert County Office on Aging, Civil Rights Mission, the Board of the Department of Social Services and being a foster parent from 1971 to 1980. In addition, she loved to travel and often spent the winters at her home in Florida. Mary is survived by her sons Thomas Dunbar of Ruckersville, VA and Jamie Dunbar of St. Leonard; daughter Karen Starbuck of Gainesville, FL; brother Phillip Lakey of Danville, VA; sisters, Phyllis Holley of Chatham, VA and Perline Matthews of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband, James and sisters Dorothy Hedrick, Gaynell Williams and Virginia Hudgins predeceased her.
