The film follows one Robert Miller who is a multi-millionaire and he has a shady life as well... The problems all start when the sale of his business is being held up and the police are investigating a car accident. All of which leaves him tense and as he step by step works his way through the minefield he's created...   Richard Gere is intense and very believable as the male lead and everyone else is almost secondary within the story line. Susan Sarandon (Ellen Miller), is the stalwart wife who isn't as daft as her husband thinks she is. Brit Marling (Brooke, their daughter) has been transfixed by her Dad and the as the film progresses its obvious her idol has become tarnished. Tim Roth (Detective Michael Bryer) hounds all the "rich" on what is obviously a personal crusade...   A good tense thriller and you're not sure hows its going to  play out and I feel could have been a better side story with Brooke taking her father on. All in all I enjoyed the film. Japes Trailer:
In what world would Richard Gere's genes and Susan Sarandon's genes join together and form a Brit Marling anyway? Shenanigans.
Dynamic performances by Richard Gere and an all-star cast highlight this riveting, suspense-filled thriller about love, loyalty, and high finance. Robert Miller (Gere) is a New York hedge-fund magnate who appears to have it all - money, power, a loving wife (Susan Sarandon), and a devoted daughter (Brit Marling) working by his side. But behind the gilded walls of his mansion Miller is running on borrowed time, trying to unload his crippled trading company before his frauds are revealed. A deadly error throws Miller's "perfect life" into a tailspin, raising the suspicions of a detective (Tim Roth) and threatening the future of his financial empire. As the line blurs bet ween what is right and wrong, legal and criminal, Miller is driven to desperate measures to protect the only thing more precious than his considerable fortune: his family.
Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon's: 'Arbitrage' Richard Gere is playing a 60 year old New Yorker who is considered as the symbol of successful businessman. Very contrary to a successful businessman’s image, his personal life also appears to be very happy and healthy. Gere’s character is called Robert Miller, who looks cool, calm and composed at the first glance, but is actually worried about his bank’s investigations about his business. The man is constantly under the fear that the bank will sooner or later find out about his economic frauds. • Photo • Gallery Ellen (Susan Sarandon) is his wife who is clueless about Miller’s business ethics and rules. She is also unaware of Miller’s affair with the French art dealer Julie (Laetitia Casta). Brit Marling is playing Miller’s daughter who is supposed to take over his business very soon. She is very charming as well as knowledgeable about how to run business empires. However, Robert Miller’s life gets jeopardized when a small mistake makes him r ...

Film Forum Wednesday, ,January 2, 2012 - 6:30 PM 100 min. Nicholas Jarecki directed this slow burning screw-turner about a man whose greed catches up to him. A Hedge Fund manager (Richard Gere) faces ruin and scandal when trapped in a web of fraud, infidelity and murder. With Susan Sarandon, Tim Roth and Brit Marling. (Just click on the link to see the title of the film.)
Richard Gere, who earned a Golden Globe nomination recently for his work in "Arbitrage," not only popped in for an interview on the Plaza and a sit-down with Willie Geist, he accepted gifts for TODAY's toy drive, then hung out in that green room with Savannah Guthrie. Talk about …
Enjoyed Arbitrage, especially the scenes where Richard Gere casually annihilates Brit Marling off the screen.
If you've heard Oscar talk for Richard Gere in Arbitrage, he is completely deserving. His best work since Unfaithful (another film which he was snubbed for). And, I'll toss Brit Marling's name into the hat for contention as well.
Brit Marling is in Arbitrage Movie. She has a dynamite scene with Richard Gere in Central Park. Watch it.
saw 'Arbitrage' last eve... enjoyed it! Good story and a well paced screenplay ensure that you better pay careful attention to each dialogue! The film basically underlines the 'if you have money, you can get away with almost anything' sentiment excellently. Richard Gere is old, and looks it, but still manages to deliver a competent performance. However its the others around him do really well and deliver a rocking film, esp Brit Marling who plays his daughter, Tim Roth & Susan Sarandon. The title seems a little tangential until the film ends, when you realise its just perfect. Arbitrage is not to be missed...
