Overnight rainfall breaks monthly averages in SE QLD Many parts of southeast QLD received more rain in 24 hours than their March monthly averages. On the Burnett River, Gayndah exceeded it's monthly average by over 12mm of rain, receiving over 68mm until 9am Sunday morning. Brisbane Airport also broke its monthly average of 96mm. Further north, Gladstone saw 74mm. The cause of this rain has been moist southeasterly winds combining with a low pressure trough just off the QLD coast and another trough in the west, leading to widespread showers. Evening folks, It's going to be busy again tonight at Brisbane Airport. As well as the usual schedule, there's special evacuation and medical flights incoming from flooded areas throughout the state, as well as additional commercial flights to make up the back log after the storm. Each additional arrival/departure puts added pressure on an already full 'dance card' and Airservices has the difficult task of making room for each and every one of those flights, safely. Two years ago, I was separated from my family. They searched for me without any success and now we have the chance to be reunited but we need your help. On Sunday afternoon, a lovely lady found me wondering along Nerang-Southport Road on the Gold Coast. She was worried I’d be hit by a passing motorist so she kindly offered me a lift to Animal Emergency Service at Carrara where she knew I’d be safe. The staff at AES gave me a comfortable bed, some dinner and water. They then scanned me for a microchip and after finding one, contacted my family. They didn’t answer, so a message was left on their machine. What a surprise they received when they heard the news I’d been found! Overwhelmed after all this time they called Animal Emergency Service in tears. Although the microchip had my owner’s details, they were asked to identify me – and they described my colour and white paws perfectly. So. My Brisbane/Gold Coast road trip is definitely happening early next year. But my dates are still TBC at this stage, but we are potentially looking at straight after when the school holidays are finished (because I want to go to Wet and Wild and I refuse to line up with screaming children! :P).
