Our Squad Can Cope CAMMY BELL insists Rangers have the strength in depth to field a winning side against Raith even if Ally McCoist’s injury doubts don’t make Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup final. It’s still unclear exactly who will be available to the manager for this weekend’s clash with the Fifers at Easter Road. Nicky Law now appears set to play having trained this week following a twisted back at Brechin City almost two weeks ago. Andy Little is the least likely to make it as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury picked up against Airdrieonians on the night League One was won. Elsewhere, David Templeton has started running again after pulling up with a groin problem in the same game. Ian Black is also out of a protective boot after hurting his foot at Glebe Park while Jon Daly came off with a hamstring strain towards the end of last week’s 2-1 win at Arbroath. Those two players have been handled delicately this week and they’re being given until as late as possible to prove they’re fit ...

Same Again For Gers ALLY MCCOIST has named the same starting XI for the second game in a row as Rangers prepare to take on Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Cup fifth round at Ibrox this evening. After Saturday’s 2-1 League One victory over Brechin City the Light Blues will be hoping to reach the last eight stage of the Cup for the first time in four years but will face a tough test against Jim Jefferies’ side. Lewis Macleod, as expected, will miss the tie with long-term absentees Kyle Hutton, Ross Perry and Chris Hegarty making good progress but they will need under-20 or bounce games before they return to first-team duty. Nicky Clark meanwhile is still in a protective boot as his foot fracture sustained in the 1-0 win at Airdrieonians on January 2 takes time to heal. Between the posts against the Pars tonight is Cammy Bell, who will make make his 24th appearance this season, and in front of the club’s number one is a back four of Sebastien Faure, skipper Lee McCulloch, Bilel Mohsni and Lee Wall ...

Scott has played for Raith Rovers but it was here he was noticed by former Dunfermline Athletic boss Bert Paton and brought to East End Park. It wasn't until the Jimmy Calderwood era that his full potential developed. He ended his career at East Fife, where he scored once against former club Brechin City.[1] On the 8 August 2007 Scott had his testimonial against a star studded Man United XI team which featured players such as Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Mikaël Silvestre, Paul Scholes and new signing Owen Hargreaves.

MONDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2013 You Can't Judge Rangers...Can You? After recent entries focused on behind the scenes nonsense, it comes as a genuine pleasure to write about football again. So if politics are what you came for, I hate to disappoint you with 11 men kickin' a baw. With a patchy 4-3 victory achieved at Glebe Park, to a 4th-bottom Brechin City, coming back from both 2-0 and 3-1 down no less, it is abundantly clear this Rangers team is incredibly difficult to judge. More or less the same first XI absolutely destroyed Stenhousemuir 8-0 at Ibrox, and have effectively coasted their way through the season thus far, with only one defeat. Consequently judging either the players or the manager is an extremely tricky process because of the unprecedented nature of the situation Rangers find themselves in. Dunno about you but I'm not sure I'll ever get used to it. It is difficult to give too high a praise when a convincing win is achieved, because the disclaimer is 'they should be destroying teams like this'. Eq ...

Brechin City secretary Gus Fairlie: I had a feeling we'd get Rangers away on opening day.. I'm so glad I was right 20 Jun 2013 09:07 FAIRLIE admits he can't wait for a trip to Ibrox after becoming more accustomed to visiting the Central Parks and Cliftonhills of Scottish football. Gus Fairlie Daily Record BRECHIN City’s secretary Gus Fairlie was at Bruce Springsteen’s gig at Hampden on Tuesday night when he had a premonition he’d be back in Glasgow to play Rangers on the opening day of next season. And then, Glory Days, the fixture list came out yesterday morning and Gus was Dancing in the Dark, in broad daylight and everywhere else there was space to prove he was Born to Run. And two home games in the Second Division against Ally McCoist’s side at Glebe Park means a £70,000 windfall for the Angus club after costs are deducted. That’s enough to satisfy any Hungry Heart. And being officially permitted to walk up Ibrox’s marble staircase and drink in the atmosphere inside the Blue Room is a sou ...

Still buzzing after last nights win for Town. A decent set of results last night with Brechin City winning away too and Kiddy getting beat. Shame about Newport though and Wrexham were always gonna win but The Mudrats got beat too which was nice. Just need a Woking win tonight to round off a decent couple of days. Oh and it was funny to see Fergie acting like a spoilt kid again and sending his monkey out to speak to the press.
BRECHIN CITY – East Fife MATCH PREVIEW Brechin City will be hoping to make it three wins on the trot when East Fife visit the Glebe in tomorrow afternoon’s Irn Bru Second Division fixture. The last game between the sides took place at Bayview on the 12th of last month when the teams shared four goals in an evenly balanced and closely fought encounter. City started well and grabbed the lead through Alan Trouten after just six minutes but the hosts fought back to equalise just before the half-hour when Collin Samuel headed home. Derek Carcary fired Brechin in front a couple of minutes later only for Bobby Barr to complete the scoring with a wonderful strike eight minutes before the break. The other meeting between the teams took place at the Glebe on 25th August when two early goals from Andy Jackson sent City in at the break two goals up and although the visitors equalised 12 minutes before the end through Gareth Wardlaw, the hosts held on for victory. Wardlaw, along with full-back Scott Durie, who is ...
LEWIS MacLEOD will be out of action for up to two months after a scan revealed he has damaged medial ligaments in his knee. The teenager was carried off in the first half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Montrose at Ibrox after a collision with away defender Paul Dawson. It was feared Macleod had suffered a more serious injury so in that respect the news is good for manager Ally McCoist. Had the 18-year-old hurt himself more severely, the likelihood was his season would be over and he could even have missed part of the 2013/14 campaign. As it is, however, he is expected to be back playing again by the end of March and that means he will only miss around 10 games. Indeed, he might not be out for as long as that as the standard recovery time from a medial problem is between six and eight weeks. Macleod has made himself indispensable to boss McCoist since he made his senior debut against Brechin City in the Ramsdens Cup last July. But for a virus which sidelined him for two matches over the Christmas period, he ...
If NEW Rangers are OLD Rangers, why would this have happened? Rangers membership transferred to themselves? Seems rather strange? Agreement on transfer of membership Friday, 27 July 2012 Joint statement on behalf of The Scottish FA, The Scottish Premier League, The Scottish Football League and Sevco Scotland Ltd. We are pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached on all outstanding points relating to the transfer of the Scottish FA membership between Rangers FC (In Administration), and Sevco Scotland Ltd, who will be the new owners of The Rangers Football Club. A conditional membership will be issued to Sevco Scotland Ltd today, allowing Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup tie against Brechin City to go ahead. Following the completion of all legal documentation, the Scottish Premier League will conduct the formal transfer of the league share between RFC (IA) and Dundee FC on no later than Friday 3rd August 2012. At this point, the transfer of Scottish FA membership will be complete. Key points: - The Scottish ...
East Fife 2 Brechin City 2 League Division Two, Bayview Stadium, Saturday 12th January 2013 Match Report by Liam Thomson East Fife and their visitors Brechin City shared the spoils in what was a very entertaining and hard fought match at Bayview. Brechin came to Methil on the back of a number of impressive results and their form has improved considerably since the arrival of Ray McKinnon as manager. East Fife therefore expected a difficult fixture and so it proved to be. However the Fifers can be proud of the way that they twice fought back to equalise and perhaps count themselves unfortunate to not have taken the full three points. City opened the scoring in the sixth minute when David McKenna hit a lovely floating shot which rebounded off the far post and Alan Trouten was on hand to put it into the back of the net. A couple of minutes later and the away side almost doubled their lead however Jonathan Brown was denied by Antell who palmed the ball out for a corner kick. Paul McManus, back in the side fo ...

If you wanna know about Charlie Adam’s dad who has been found dead at his home. The body of Charlie Adam Snr, 50 — a former professional footballer — was discovered in Dundee yesterday afternoon. His distraught son headed home to grieve with his family after hearing the devastating news. Shocked former Rangers star Charlie, 27 — now starring for Stoke City — was joined by his younger brother, St Mirren keeper Grant, 21. Last night a family friend said: “The boys are both broken at the moment — they are shattered, shocked and it is such a sensitive situation.” As the brothers comforted their mum Eleanor, 46, cops said investigations “were continuing” into the tragedy. A Tayside Police spokesman confirmed they had been called to a house in the city and officers were still at the property last night. Charlie Snr retired from football in 1994 after making 81 appearances for Arbroath. He played for six Scottish clubs, including Dundee United, St Johnstone and Brechin City. Last night a fami ...
