You know, the day was going so well, and then it exploded into joy. Did you guys know that our new soccer coach in the WMLS is CINDY PARLOW?! Man, she's one of my favorites from "back in the day." She started playing with the Women's National Team in 1995 (the beginning of my senior year of high school). My then-girlfriend was so soccer obsessed that I knew the team's stats just as well as she did. It's what made me the soccer nutter I am today. So, anyway. Cindy Parlow was at UNC Chapel Hill with Mia Hamm, too. I couldn't be happier about this, because if Cindy is the coach, maybe some of my other favorites will show up. I particularly want to meet Julie "Loudy" Foudy, Michelle Akers, Brandi Chastain (yes, THAT Brandi Chastain... gr), and meeting Mia Hamm wouldn't suck, either. Plus, maybe NOMAH! will come with her. :)

Badminton players need to learn from U.S. women's soccer defenders how to throw matches. Go USA women's soccer team! USA will be playing Japan for the gold medal this afternoon. I had the privilege to watch the USA women's soccer team defeat Japan for the Gold Medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. The largest crowd ever to watch women's soccer. That team consisted of Mia Hamm, Julie Fouty, Brandi Chastain and etc. What a great memory!

Always "trip out" when I see BRANDI CHASTAIN calling games on TV, let alone what she accomplished as a player, because I always remember her as the "Who is that chick??!!" when she played with us at the astroturf fields in Berkeley every afternoon in the late '80s...she was a freshman at CAL before she transferred to Santa Clara...
