I have seen a lot of other pages posting and ripping on Brad Richards for diving on the Kaleta cross check. Here's my thoughts for the record, anyone saying dive is a Ranger hater or a Sabres homer. NO ONE dives head first into the boards risking a broken neck, you dive when you feel a stick in your feet or a slash somewhere and sometomes dress up a high stick, you don't leap into the boards. People who are posting that and think it was a dive make me want to vomit. I welcome you all to lace up and come play with me and ill crosscheck you vertically into the boards at a decent rate of speed. We'll see how much of a dive it was when you hear your neck pop and arms get tingly and you are praying you can still move all your limbs. Yes I never liked having John Tortorella as the Ranger's coach and like it even less when I look at how the Rangers have drafted vs the system employed by Tortorella. Why do they draft a Chris Kreider who's skill is dependent on being able to skate? Why do you sign a Brad Richards who earned a Cup ring while playing the wide open "Safe is Death" brand of hockey once used by the current coach? I look at the current group of prospects who are solid skaters and wonder how they will fit in when they are NHL ready? Cristoval Nieves is built for speed not for grind it out block shots. On July 23, 2012 General Manager Scott Howson made a deal with the New York Rangers that sent the Blue Jackets superstar Rick Nash to the Big Apple, in exchange for Tim Erixson, Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinksy, and a third round draft pick in this years draft.   Upon hearing the news it was hard not getting lost imagining the Rangers first line of Brad Richards, Marion Gaborik, and now Rick Nash. Pundits were quick to dismiss the trade as a win for New York, and another mediocre move by Howson, that was sure to leave the Blue Jackets crippled for another season.   What most seemed to forget was that Rick Nash has never produced more than 79 points in a season throughout his entire NHL career. In fact, in his 7 years in the NHL he has only produced more than 69 points once, in 08-09 as referenced above. Let’s assume for the sake of argument that had Rick Nash stayed another year with Columbus, he would have produced around 64 points (which is the average number of point from his last three seasons). Atlantic: The most free agent hype going on in any division was definitely the Atlantic division, whether it was Nash heading to NYR, Parise leaving NJ, PIT trading Staal and PHI almost landing Weber. Getting Nash in an absolute steal of a trade is definitely going to help the Rangers, he's been able to carry the Jackets his whole career and has chemistry with Brad Richards cause of their time on team Canada, the lockout in a way helped the Rangers because it allowed Gaborik to heal his broken rotater cuff, along with arguably the best goalie in the league the Rangers are definately a threat to repeat as winners of the division and possibly the conference in general, the Penguins didn't make to much noise in the off season other than trading one of their best young players (Jordan Staal) to the Huricanes for Brandon Sutter, still definately a threat to win the division, especially after having an embarrassing exit of the playoffs, but they really haven't improved.
