Bodega Bay is a shallow, rocky inlet of the Pacific Ocean on the coast of northern California in the United States.

SONOMA COAST The Sonoma Coast AVA covers (as its name implies) the coastline of Sonoma County, California. What is not apparent from the AVA's title, however, is that its boundaries veer sharply inland just east of Bodega Bay, and spread out southwards and eastwards into the Petaluma Watershed. Where it meets the northern tip of Sonoma Valley just outside Santa Rosa, the edge of the AVA is more than 20 miles (35km) east of the coastline proper, and even further from the inland bays east of San Francisco. The Sonoma Coast title covers more than 500,000 acres (200,000ha) of western and southern Sonoma County, of which about 2% is under vine. Far from contiguous, this 2% is scattered around the area in various terroirs, typically capitalizing on the cooling influences of the Pacific Ocean. The AVA was created in 1987, primarily for political and commercial reasons, which sets Sonoma Coast apart from the other northern coast AVAs, whose creation and delineation have been driven largely by geological and clima ...

In the hills surrounding the town of Bodega Bay in California, there is a tree, sitting right in the crook of two hills. Scattered 10 paces around it are 7 different fresh-water springs. It is said that one of them cures any disease, another grants immortal life, 4 will kill you instantly and cause your body to dissolve into powder. But the last spring is special. If you bottle water from this one and take it to a small cave hidden in the hills north of the tree, you will find a single large stone at the back of the cave. If you then splash the water on the stone, it will dissolve, leaving you a baseball-sized red stone. As long as you have this stone in your possession, you will always be in the right place at the right time. If you pour water from any of the other 6 springs on the rock, the cave will seal up, and you will be lost forever under the earth.

Doran Beach Regional Park This Sonoma County regional park offers leashed dogs access to marshland full of egrets, herons, and deer, as well as to the Pinnacle Gulch Trail. The plain but serviceable beach has almost no surf (which is great for dog swims), and there are picnic tables near the beach. The Boat House This restaurant in downtown Bodega Bay will allow you to sit with your dog as you eat fish-and-chips, oysters, and calamari at one of the six unshaded tables on its patio. If fish isn't your dog's wish, he can order a burger.

Artists, Last Thursday Art for the Father had a planning meeting with Kathy Cia-White, Wayne Magness, Dave Henderson and me. We discussed the following topics to help define who we are and where we are going as a group. We are scheduling a trip to several galleries with amazing artists in Bodega Bay on Saturday, April 13th leaving Santa Rosa at 10am. This is open to artists and their family and friends and we will be eating lunch at one of the many spots that offers clam chowder and other amazing items. Too tired to load new pix. We are in Sonoma County Wine Country, spending the night in Bodega Bay (on the coast). Took a bad tumble yesterday and am quite sore and bruised (right rib cage mostly). Had an absolutely gorgeous drive day today along the coast line on Highway 1. Spent a lot of time at the Korbel Vineyards, very interesting tour and had quite extensive wine/champagne tasting. Tomorrow we plan to head to Lake Tahoe for a couple of days

From the minute I met Lily, I fell in love with her sweet spirit. We met in Petaluma for her senior portraits, and from there, we travelled to Bodega Bay for some shots before we headed to the beach where we ended our shoot. It was gorgeous day outside, just beautiful. Sometimes it's a gamble…

I wanna do a Tippi Hedren and drive all the way to Bodega Bay in a convertible just to deliver some love birds.

We had a blast in Bodega Bay. I can't wait to camp there again. We saw whales, got within 15 feet of seals, saw a few sea lions, explored tidepools where we saw star fish and crabs, deer in our campground on the peninsula. The kids went crabbing with their grandpa and caught some red crabs. We ate the best clam chowder in the world made by my father in law who also dug up the clams himself. The views were spectacular, the wildlife amazing and the people were welcoming. I'm also told we couldn't have asked for better weather. Yeah.we didn't want to leave :-)

Saturday was a little lighter...only one wine tasting. Spent a lot of the day sightseeing in and near Bodega Bay along the Pacific coast. Saw the sunset into the Pacific and then had an incredibly delicious halibut stuffed with smoked salmon. Off to church now...only 1.8 miles. I figure I can walk it in about 40 minutes.

This is my one page manifesto to let the world know I am going to war with the stinkin skunks that crawl out from under my house at night to eat the cat food on the back porch. They sit out there and argue with the cats as to who has rights to the tasty little morsels of food left in the little cat feeder bowls. The cats stand their ground and that's when the skunks let em have it and we all suffer from the big stink ! They gonna have a big surprise tonight . a one way door. the skunks come out and they can't go back . they will be banned from the under side of my house. Skunks beware !

Yesterday, Feb 8th was my father's birthday. Today, we're driving to Bodega Bay, CA to celebrate a friend's birthday at the Tides Restaurant.

Having a nice and relaxing weekend. Bunch of us are going to go to Bodega Bay and BBQ.

Yesterday we visited 2 wineries and a craft brewery. I have never eaten so much fancy food and had so much to drink in a single day. We also visited Dean and DeLuca gourmet shop where I saw things I did not even know existed including a $1,350.00 bottle of Scotch and a $4,000.00 bottle of wine. We went over the mountain and into the Napa valley and drove the length of it passing many wineries that I recognized, such as, Berenger, Sutter Home and Mondavi. We also went by the Cullinary Institute of America (CIA) which is located where Christian Brothers Brandy was made befor it became a chef school. Today we go to Pinot Noir country and Bodega Bay.

Poop Fest 2013 is well under way in my neighborhood. Thousands of robins have descended from the skies and are gorging themselves on plump purple hackberries. The trees are full. The yards are full. And the by-products of the ingested berries, small hard seeds about the size of a BB, are being launched from feathered posteriors and raining down on everything or anyone daring enough to attempt to make it to your car, empty the garbage or collect the morning paper. Whatever you do, don't look up.

So this is what you call birding? Perhaps it should be Bodega Bay, not Golden Bay.

Waiting for the big storm...just started to see snow flakes...this time I hope the weather people were wrong AGAIN and we get less than predicted.

In Bodega Bay early this morning, a large flock of crows attacked a group of children who were leaving the school during a fire drill. One little girl was seriously injured and taken to the hospital in Santa Rosa, but the majority of children reached safety. We understand there was another attack on the town. But this information is rather sketchy. So far, no word has come through to show if there have been further attacks.

Vet says it was Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) that killed Rascal. Basically a thickening of the heart valves. No obvious signs to alert you. He simply went to sleep, all curled up as usual, last night and had an sudden heart attack. He looked sweet and peaceful when Phil found him. Poor Smokey (his brother) is very lost tonight. :( Loki is home, still a little under the weather, but on the mend apparently. He has Acute Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE) which caused bleeding in his colon and stomach and usually is fatal for dogs. Thank GOD we caught that in time. So we are roasting him a chicken, and he will get chicken, rice and cottage cheese for 4 days until his gut and colon have time to rest. Guess that means I'll be eating chicken and rice too! What a way to start the week. I'm exhausted.

Not doing so good. TERMITES BIG TIME. My entire service porch bath is in the process of being totally torn apart -- starting with new sub-flooring. These termites were very hungry & big eaters. He got some great pictures while he was under the house. He said all the homes out in this area have termites. They come in from Bodega Bay -- where they are even worse. I will be doing a two yr. check from now on.

As someone who has lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay area, the NYC metro area and twice in the DMV, I can clearly tell you this area is the worst driving area and worst commute. Then to Mary's Pizza and a fast drive to Bodega Bay to walk the beach, look for whales, Dodge the tide which was coming in fast! Collected driftwood, rocks and shells then home. Road Tripping the Pacific Coast Be sure Devil’s Slide is open before taking Highway 1 from Half Moon Bay up into San Francisco. Here, Highway 1 is also called 19th Avenue, and takes you across the Golden Gate Bridge in about 30 minutes. But Skyline Boulevard (Rte. 35) makes a prettier drive, letting you see Ocean Beach and some of the city’s most stunning mansions. At the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway 1 and U.S. 101 merge before taking you into Marin, where plenty of restaurants and hotels welcome weary travelers. From Marin, Highway 1 hugs the rough, rocky coastline as towns become scarce and the scenery amazing. Wend your way through Muir Beach, past Stinson Beach, through Point Reyes, along Tomales Bay, and up to Bodega Bay. Lunch at Hog Island Oyster Company and continue north to Fort Ross for some largely overlooked history of the California coast. Spend the night at Sea Ranch, or push on to the B&Bs and inns that dot the roadside up into Mendocino and Fort Bragg.

So. I have extremely vivid dreams, and often travel in them. Realized I've been dreaming a crazy amount about Bodega Bay, CA, a beautiful home, and being so close to the water you could see the orcas from the bay windows. ***IT IS BREATHTAKING***

While visiting in Santa Rosa today, I went to Bodega Bay and then on to the ocean. The day was so very beautiful, sunny, and warm. It felt so good to be near the ocean again. Great lunch at Lucas Wharf. A day made for healing.

Burried in work and time is going too fast. Need a Bodega Bay vacation.

Clay Wilson one night, and he allowed that they’d known each other in Lawrence, KS, in Wilson’s KU days. She was petite, with sharp features, her ash blonde hair cut in a short Dutch boy. She spoke in a slightly high-pitched drawl in a relaxed, candid manner that I found instantly alluring. In the course of our conversations at *** €™s she disclosed that she’d been a bit of a wild child in her youth, to the point where her parents held her down one night and rolled her up in a Persian rug, carting her off to an institution in Osawatomie, KS. I liked her even better. One night I told her I liked how she was always nicely dressed. She explained that she was working as a temp downtown and needed to look sharp. She then told me it was only temporary, because the salmon season would be here soon. That’s when I found out her true calling. She’d pack up . ...

We rose before dawn today to watch a tribal dance at the Pueblo of San Ildefonso with our friend Mike Fulton, visiting from Bodega Bay. No cameras, no recording devices, no recorded music -- just drums and voices and dancing feet beneath an ancient cottonwood. I watched as two women of the pueblo chatted with each another. "You are proud today," said the one wrapped in a blanket. "How can I not be?" said the one wearing a San Francisco 49ers apron.

Just noticed the rain. Thanks bodega bay, that's just what I needed to kill what little motivation to get up and do something today that I needed. Lol.

I finally figured something out. After watching the movie "The Birds" for the umpteenth time I finally realized that the lovebirds that the little girl wanted was the maguffen - the item that sets things in motion (Tippi Hendren's trip to Bodega Bay) but has nothing to do with the plot.

The expected average weight per crab should be around 1.25-1.5 lbs. (not bigger than this); we will be charging a set price of $14.50/each. Yes, you may find them cheaper (keep in mind these crabs are not typically from local sources, they are shipped from Oregon), but we hear the price may go up by the end of this week, so our price will actually be considered quite good by Friday. Here's a little California tip for you all. When many visit the golden state, looking for a hotel with an ocean view is ideal. However, such hotels are usually so expensive. I have found that booking sometime in the winter is best kept secret. Hotel prices are slashed in half. Plus, the ocean is so wild in the winter and beautiful to watch. The Pacific Ocean is so cold anyways that even in the summer taking tip requires serious courage. Here are a few wheelchair accessible hotels with lovely ocean views: Dream Inn (Bodega Bay Lodge & Spa (Timber Cove Inn (The Standford Inn (and the Little River Inn (Come to CA for the winter, it has better weather compared to the rest of the country this time of year.

Bodega Bay Event: Scholastic Book Fair all this week at Bodega Bay School and Thursday night is the family and community event. It will be a Family Fun Night with board games and crafts for the families if you are interested in buying good, inexpensive books for children. They make wonderful holiday gifts for ages 4 to 12. Since they are such a small school, they depend on the support of the community to help them keep these book fairs coming to the school. They need to sell a minimum amount to make it worthwhile for Scholastic. The book fair will be open Thursday, Dec. 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
