Terry Labonte, sponsored by Budwesier, says he wants to see Bobby Allison, sponsored by Miller, win the championship
December 3, 1937 Bobby Allison, former NASCAR Winston Cup driver and owner, named one of NASCAR's 50 greatest drivers, born in Miami, Florida,USA. Allison entered his first race as a senior at Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame High School in Miami, but was asked to quit by his father. After high school in 1955, Allison took his brother, Donnie, and some friends along on a quest for more lucrative racing than was available in south Florida. His searching led him to the Montgomery Speedway in Montgomery, Alabama, where he was told of a race that very night in Midfield, Alabama near Birmingham. Allison entered and won that race, along with two other races that week. He had found his lucrative racing. The brothers set up shop in Hueytown, Alabama with another friend Red Farmer, and they began answering to the name Alabama Gang. Bobby Allison worked as a mechanic and an engine tester, but eventually became a driver and won the.
it would sure be nice if we could see some images of the Matador driven by Mark Donohue, Bobby Allison and Dave Marcis!!!
I could not agree with Dave Moody More: Please take the time to read. COMMENTARY: A Few Random, Tongue-In-Cheek Thoughts In The Aftermath Of Last Night's AAA 500 A little butt-whipping never hurt anyone. In fact, moderate physical violence cleaned up my personal act on a number of occasions. A full 100% of the people whining about NASCAR drivers being bad role models for the impressionable youth of America watched EVERY SINGLE SECOND of last night’s donnybrook, without changing the channel. Brad Keselowski is the most over-aggressive, inconsiderate, self-centered, bulldozer-driving, “I’d wreck my grandma for a win” a-hole in the history of NASCAR. Unless you count Curtis Turner, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Ernie Irvan. If you count them, he’s fourth. Maybe fifth. Bobby Allison could be pretty tough, as well. If the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. had done what Keselowski did last night, they’d erect another statue in his honor. Let one overexcited Kasey Kahne crewmember throw a punch at Brad Keselowski, ...
What an enjoyment flying from NYC to Orlando this week. It was a clear day and I flew over so many places that had an influence on my life. Such as Langley AFB in Virginia where I flew the F-15; Greenville, NC, home of East Carolina University where I got my undergraduate degree; Ft Bragg, NC, where I jumped out of perfectly good airplanes with the 82nd Airborne Division in my fearless days; Myrtle Beach, SC, where I spent many days on vacation; Charleston, SC, where we visited family friends on many occasions as a youth; Daytona Speedway, where I got to score Bobby Allison and Jeff Gordon on numerous occasions, etc. etc. etc. I still love my job. Did you see the profit Delta reported last week?

POST-DAYTONA DRIVERS REPORT: 1. Jimmie Johnson (No. 48) Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet Where he stands: Johnson leads the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings with 658 points. Last week: There was the usual at Daytona: wrecks, long runs and a complete shuffling of the standings. This time, though, positioning for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup got all jumbled, too. Amid that wreckage stood Jimmie Johnson, who won the Coke Zero 400 powered by Coca-Cola to become the first driver since Bobby Allison in 1982 to sweep the Daytona races. Through all the changes after one of the wildest races of the season, Five-Time remains a constant. He led 94 of 161 laps and perhaps put to rest any questions of whether his restart misfires in the past were in his head Johnson was in the lead on the green-white-checkered restart and powered away from the field. What he said: “I think that what we've done over the course of the year, leading the points like we have with a big margin I think probably sends the biggest me ...

First to sweep events in a season at Daytona since 1982 Related: Results | Standings DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Another milestone for Jimmie Johnson -- and another spectacular finish for Daytona International Speedway. Johnson beat Tony Stewart to the finish line in Saturday night’s Coke Zero 400 to record the first season sweep of Sprint Cup Series races at the 2.5-mile superspeedway since Bobby Allison accomplished the feat in 1982. Kevin Harvick finished in front of the melee to run third, followed by Clint Bowyer and Michael Waltrip. 12 Questions with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jeff Gluck, USA TODAY Sports 4:40 p.m. EDT June 12, 2013 Our weekly series of NASCAR driver interviews continues with Dale Earnhardt Jr., who returns this weekend to the spot of his last victory: Michigan International Speedway. USA TODAY Sports spoke with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Q: Whose driving style is the most similar to yours? A: Current driver? Anybody you want. Well, it's definitely nothing like my dad's style. More like Bobby Allison's style. Really? What makes you say that? It's not on purpose, it's just I make decisions based on my own personality and my own personal judgment. I think that's more similar to a guy like Bobby Allison or Donnie Allison or maybe Darrell Waltrip a little bit. As for current guys, I don't really know. Everybody is so different. We all look at each other like nobody is really similar. I don't even look at two other drivers in the field and find people similar to each other. 12 QUESTIONS: Catch up on the series with Jeff Gluck Q: How much ...
In Memory of an Eastern Kentucky Racing Legend; $3000 to Win Millard Combs Memorial Tomorrow night the gates will open at Lucky 7 Speedway in honor of a man who is a true legend of the sport of dirt racing in eastern Kentucky. Millard Combs, born June 15, 1947 began his racing career during the first season of competition at Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, KY. His first race car was a '56 Chevy and sported the His success in racing can be much credited to the help of his father, James Combs Jr., and his brother, Orville Combs, who were alongside Millard throughout his entire racing career. By the early 70's the team would purchase a 1965 Chevelle, which was formerly driven by Bobby Allison in NASCAR. It would be put to good use throughout the 1970's on dirt tracks throughout eastern Kentucky. The famous Orange would make its debut during the late 1970's and would dominate the dirt tracks of eastern Kentucky for over 2 years! In fact, a bounty was placed on Millard and the Orange at Mountain Motor Speedwa ...
Kid Lightning… by: Matt McLaughlin When old time fans gather together to discuss the heroes of yesteryear, names like Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, Cale Yarborough, and David Pearson are always mentioned with near reverence. But in his time, there was one driver, who despite limited factory support and a special challenge in the common sense department, beat them all like a drum when things went his way. That driver is of course, Kid Lightning, if not the greatest racer ever to turn a wheel on the track, certainly one of the most persistent. Born Matthew Leichtzinger on April 1st 1950, the Kid was the 8th of 10 brothers born to the clan. The son of a prosperous automobile agency owner, and grandson of one of the South’s most notorious moonshiners ( Whitey Leichtzinger, AKA White Lightning, perhaps the originator of the term White Lightning for corn liquor) the Kid was born into one of the most prosperous families in Houston Hollow, North Carolina. (No great shakes considering the poverty of the town i ...
Jimmie Johnson Our House Is a Very, Very, Very Fine House HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 21, 2013) – “Our house is a very, very, very fine house.” Graham Nash wasn’t referring to Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway when he wrote the song “Our House.” But Jimmie Johnson would agree that the track, which is quickly becoming like home, is a very fine one, indeed. Johnson won a record fourth Sprint All-Star Race Saturday evening. The victory in the non-points-paying event made him the all-time winningest driver in the event, breaking a tie with the legendary Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon. A win in this weekend’s 600-mile event would be his seventh overall at the track, making him its all-time winningest driver and breaking a tie at six wins apiece with Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip. Johnson has three wins in the Memorial Day-weekend race, including his last win in the 600-mile event in 2005. The only time he has swept the All-Star Race and 600 was in 2003. While he owns the best driver rating ...

Obviously Bruton Smith is at the top of the list - he's been a contemporary of Curtis Turner, Fireball Roberts, Richard Petty, David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson to Brad Keselowski. I gotta pick four more. Who do YOU recommend?

Today…February 24th is The Daytona 500, this is another first without My Dad, Ben Buster Rice. He is the reason I like NASCAR; My Dad wasn't into basketball, football or even baseball, however it was the roar of the engine he loved. I can recall every Sunday we had the race on the radio, we would be at the flea market and he would stop and listen, the gas station and even at a relative’s house. So many years of riding in the back seat of our 1972 green Chevy Nova subconsciously listening to Motor Racing Network (MRN) and hearing the announcers saying the names of Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison and many others provided a vivid memory of the who’s who of the sport. Finally, I found that connection on February 15th, 1998 when his favorite The Man in Black, Dale Earnhardt won. There wasn't a dry eye in the Rice household that Sunday afternoon, I remember how My Dad raised his arms and literally had tears because his favorite driver had finally won, for so long he tried to win the big one, ...

How many Old School NASCAR Fans we got here.I went to my first NASCAR race in California at Riverside International Raceway...before Nascar was cool. I was about ten years old. They had hay bales and hog wire to stop the cars from going off the Road course and into the stands. My favorite driver was Bobby Allison.I hated Richard Petty back then...but thats how it was.saw Cale and crew race a lot.think my dad got the tickets to the races for free because he was military.they just wanted people there to see their sponsors.some of my fondest memories were going to the races with my dad sittin in the half empty stands watchin Bobby Allison and Richard Petty cut through those S curves.back before NASCAR was cool.
Thanks to modern technology and a place called the Spy Store, I was able to do an unauthorized wiretap of a few NASCAR legends following Sunday’s qualifying for the Daytona 500. Here it is, uncut, unedited and uncouth. Richard Petty dials up David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Bobby Allison and Junior Johnson on Sunday night for a conference call. RP: “Hey I gotta talk to you guys because I’m having trouble with this Danica thing.” CY: “What happened?” RP: “She won the pole position.” BA: “Where?” RP: “Daytona.” CY: “For the ARCA race?” RP: “No, the Daytona 500.” BA: “Have you been drinking King?” RP: “No but I’m thinking seriously about starting.” DP: “I don’t have cable, who is Danica?” JJ: “I think she played Tom Cruise’s wife in Days of Thunder.” RP: “No damnit, she’s the new face of NASCAR.” DP: “You mean like Linda Vaughn?” RP: “Good lord don’t any of you cats follow current events? No, she’s a race driver who came from Indy cars and ...

Owner looks to better team even after first Sprint Cup Series trophy MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- The Sprint Cup Series trophy, that prize Roger Penske sought for so long, is the newest addition to the sprawling Penske Racing shop. Murals of past greats like Mark Donohue, Bobby Allison and Rusty Wallace gaze down on NASCAR’s ultimate reward, claimed at last for the organization in 2012 by Brad Keselowski. But that sterling silver cup is far from the only new element introduced for this season at the Penske facility, where the walls and floor are as gleamingly white as the dress shirts favored by the team’s executives. There is a new face behind the wheel of the organization’s second car, a new manufacturer providing support, a few new sponsors and support personnel sprinkled into new roles. In the wake of its first premier-series title, it’s clear that Penske did not stand pat. “There’s something to be said for continuity,” Keselowski said Wednesday night, when the Penske shop was ...

A little history about the venue.read closely the part under the Nascar Section marked with **. The Middle Georgia Raceway was a raceway located in Byron, Georgia, in the United States. Although operational for five years, it has been the location of a record-breaking race and a Dodge Durango commercial over the years. Nine NASCAR Grand National (now Sprint Cup Series) races were held at the track between 1966 and 1971. Richard Petty won four races, Bobby Allison won three, and David Pearson and Bobby Isaac each earned one victory. NASCAR history Opened in 1966 at a cost of $500,000, the first race, the Speedy Morelock 200 NASCAR Grand National stock car race, became the location of a speed record when Richard Petty broke the half-mile NASCAR record for half-mile tracks with an average speed of 82.023 miles per hour during the 100-mile (160 km) event. **(a tie to Dukes of Hazzard )The next year, federal agents discovered a moonshine distillery in an underground bunker at turn th ...

Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction fundraiser Date: January 19, 2013 On Sept. 11, 8-year-old Liberty Barnum of Denver was struck by a car while crossing the street in an accident that has left the girl paralyzed from the waist down. In an effort to raise enough money so the family can afford a wheelchair-accessible van, an employee of the mother, who manages Lone Star on Sullivan Road, has organized a fundraiser in Statesville. On Jan. 19, Fairview Baptist Church, at 349 Turnersburg Highway, will host a pancake breakfast and silent auction that organizer Howard Opperman is billing as "NASCAR is coming to Statesville." "We're going to have silent auctions. We've got a lot of autograph material," said Opperman, who works as a server at Lone Star. "But the biggest news to all is that at 8:15 a.m. in the morning, Bobby Allison is going to be there signing autographs, taking pictures and eating a plate of pancakes." Allison is a three-time champion of the Daytona 500. Included in the silent auction is going ...

Happy 75th Birthday to NASCAR Hall of Fame member Bobby Allison!
Does the names of Dale Earnhardt, Harry Gant, Alan Kulwicki, Rick Mast, Ricky Rudd, Bobby Allison and so on bring back memories of the way NASCAR used to be, when it was a great sport not all drama, he said/she said? Then take a stroll down memory lane because thats just a few of the names of NASCAR memorabilia and collectibles thay I have. Now throw in NFL TRADING CARDS!!! Joe Montana, Reggie White, Emmit Smith just to name a few. Gets your heart pounding? Then contact me and lets work out a deal!
For Kurt Phillips...I didn't know Jeff Gordon got into fights, I just thought he would slap them...I guess he's trying to be more like Bobby Allison and Tony Stewart.
There have been many rivalries in NASCAR over the years but few have been as prominent as the wars among (from left), Richard Petty, Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip, who scrapped in the ’70s and early ’80s.
Patience is a virture great champions master while becoming champions. Example: Muhammed Ali, Joe Montana, Ivan Lendel, The 80's Lakers, Marvin Hagler, Willie Stargel, Bobby Allison, Joe Domaggio, and Kobe Bryant. Us Lakers fans need to be patience. We'll get there. Just don't rush it. I'm excited about the season. And the playoffs will be here before you know it. Long live the greatest team in basketball. The L.A. Lakers. Por Vida!

Today in History: 1972 - Bobby Allison and Buddy Baker traded lead 4x in last 8 CMS laps. Who earned the win?
Well the weekend is over. Atlanta is 1 for three in the sports world. The Falcons fought back and pulled it out. It was touch and go until the 4th quarter. The best point is that for the first time ever in Falcon history the team is 5-0. One other point on weekend sports. I am a 50 year race fan. I am with Dale Jr. today. How Nascar fans can continue to watch these terrible crashes week after week is not racing to me. I know green and white checkers are a fix for an excitng race but at what cost. All I see is millions of dollars in torn up race cars. Todate no one has been injured or killed and the odds are there luck will run out. This is not racing to me. It is madness! Jr. is right. Take the time to read what he said. Nascar real racing was when people like Bobby Allison and Bill Elliott ran people down from one lap down to win the race.

Will sell individual items or the whole collection for a reasonable price. Please message me if you are interested or please pass this on to anyone you know.

Today in NASCAR History: July 16 1977: NASCAR Hall of Fame member Darrell Waltrip dominates the Nashville 420 to score the sixth of his 84 wins in NASCAR's top series. Waltrip, who led 300 of the 420 laps on the 0.596-mile oval at Nashville Fairgrounds, was more than a lap ahead of runner-up Bobby Allison at the finish. Richard Petty took third, two laps down.
In 1979,the first NASCAR race to be televised was the Daytona 500. Cale Yarbrough and Donnie Allison competed for first place throughout the whole race. On the last lap, their cars collided and plowed into the infield on turn three. Instead of getting back into the race , they began fighting. The third place driver was Bobby Allison, he pulled of the track and began to help his brother. Richard Petty who was in 4th place ,zoomed by everybody and won the race. This happens to a lot of people, they get distracted by many things and become filled with anger and drop out of the race that their so close to winning. Choose your battles wisely and keep your focus on accomplishing the mission, honoring God, and blessing others.
Drivers should have to race street mods & build the cars themselves. I want Bobby Allison and Richard Petty back.
