(Tar Heels won 66-31 over Blue Devils at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Blue Devils versus Eagles at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
North Carolina players caused extensive damage to Duke's visiting locker room at Wallace Wade Stadium by spray painting after their 45-20 win over the Blue Devils last week. Tar Heels coach Larry Fedora called to apologize to Duke coach David Cutcliffe the day after Thursday's game, while North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham apologized to Duke counterpart Kevin White. As first reported in the (Durham) Herald-Sun, North Carolina will pay for the thousands of dollars in damage to the walls and carpet in the locker room, located inside Duke's practice facility. After North Carolina won -- its first triumph in the heated rivalry since 2011 -- players gathered on the field to spray paint the Victory Bell trophy Carolina Blue, as is customary. But as they took the bell into the locker room, they continued to spray paint, leaving the damage. Fedora and Cunningham issued a joint statement through the school: "We would like to apologize to the Duke Football program and Duke University for some inappro ...
lol I know you know it's not North Carolina Blue devils lol
Clemson came SO CLOSE to knocking the Blue Devils out of the ACC Tournament. It would have been a beautiful thing if North Carolina and Duke (college basketball's double axis of evil) would have been knocked out of the tournament in the same day, especially if one of those losses were courtesy of the good guys in orange! But it wasn't to be. Though we lost tonight, we're still winners. My personal thesaurus says that Clemson is synonymous with winning and the basketball team exemplifies that!
This has been a good weekend for me with sports. My Duke Blue Devils beat North Carolina and my Bulls beat the Heat!
Congrats Duke Blue Devils on the win over North Carolina - Great offensive and defensive rebounding and three point shooting!! ACC Tournament next!!
Thanks, Joe. Insightful. You really earned your paycheck there, buddy. I guess if NC State doesn't play... Joe doesn't play. "Joe Ovies North Carolina is one of the hottest teams in the country. The Tar Heels proved in Chapel Hill the matchup against Duke is more even than the pundits initially thought. And it's not like Cameron Indoor Stadium is a daunting place for North Carolina. They've won in Durham plenty of times. So why am I picking the Blue Devils to win? Just an inkling. That's better than any breakdown or tale of the tape between North Carolina and Duke. They've proven time and again it's pointless."
Dear Friends, Romans, and countrymen, Tonight is a great night to be able to say I graduated from the hallowed halls of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! We may have our humble moments and hear others drone on about the greatness of Duke et.al., but if you like college basketball... tonight was a night of enchantment for us Tar Heels! We won hands down and I am still wearing the victor's laurels! Love you, Roy Williams. I wish I had the second half of the Duke-Carolina game on tape. After being doggedly behind much of first half and part of the second...Carolina came alive and sent those Blue Devils back down that eight miles to Durham with their forked tails between their legs! Victory is so sweet after all the hassle we have endured over the past few weeks. As you can see I am still the same shy, timid, bashful basketball fan you have come to know... ye these many years. If you don't like Carolina please do not write me anything nasty...be a good sport. Hugs and Happiness to all.
I think this reporter for USA Today covered the game rather precisely. Our Tar Heel boys have been lousy at the free throw line all season. When Nate Britt hit those last 2 foul shots and made the score 70, I wanted to hug him. Our defense was really good. USA TODAY Sports breaks down Thursday's big college basketball showdown. HOW THE Tar Heels WON: After an eight-day wait, the first Duke-North Carolina matchup of the year didn't disappoint. North Carolina overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to beat No. 6 Duke, 74-66, sparking a rare court-storming scene at North Carolina. BOX SCORE: Tar Heels 74, Blue Devils 66 BUBBLE TRACKER: Borderline teams breakdown Duke ranks second nationally in offensive efficiency and third in three-point shooting percentage. But the Tar Heels disrupted Duke's outside shooters, forcing the Blue Devils to struggle from three-point range throughout. UNC also won despite a fast start by Duke's Rodney Hood, who scored 11 points in the game's first eight minutes, and horrendous ...
Thanks, ObamaCare! It appears that Sen. Kay Hagan, one of those Democrats who pretends to have common sense (i.e., conservative principles) so that she can get elected and then spend the first 2/3 of her term voting in lock-step with Democratic stalwarts like Harry Reid and *** Durbin, is now in trouble in her home state of North Carolina. Go Tarheels! Go Wolfpack! Go Demon Deacons! Go Blue Devils! Kay Hagan: Just go! She’s currently trailing every prospective Republican challenger. She was ahead of all of them by 12-17 points in September. Of course, she knows that she’s up for re-election next year, so she’s back to pretending to be a conservative/centrist/moderate so that she doesn’t appear to be totally out of the mainstream. Unfortunately (for her), she is totally out of the mainstream. She voted for ObamaCare. That’s the most irresponsible piece of legislation ever passed in the last several decades. Our wonderful nation is currently, and painfully, discovering that. But to say ObamaCare . ...
Welcome back my friends to the second to last edition of the 2013 Puff Poll.  It’s been a great season hasn’t it?  This weekend proved to be a thrilling rivalry weekend; and for that I am thankful.  First and foremost, my Michigan Wolverines gave Ohio everything they wanted and more. I’m referring of course to ground yardage.  The Maize and Blue were able to move the ball and score plenty too.  In the end, a thrilling last-minute Michigan touchdown to draw within one point was sated by a failed two point conversion attempt in a bold effort to steal the game from the team in the country.  Next Duke sealed their first division title ever by winning their 10th game of the season (also a first for Duke.)  Now if only the Blue Devils basketball team could finish in the bottom third of the ACC for the next 80 years in a row, the programs will be even.  At the same time as Duke’s win over North Carolina was Auburn’s miracle win over Alabama.  How Auburn was even tied with the Tide in the four ...
A happy Thanksgiving from The Blue Zone! —In this week's stock watch, Matt Jones and Jabari Parker are trending up, and the referees' enforcement of new charging rules are trending down: beyond the arc from Duke's win against Alabama last night—a closer look at the key plays and stats to the Blue Devils' 74-64 win: gears to football, we went behind enemy lines yesterday with the sports editor from The Daily Tar Heel to discuss this weekend's Coastal Division clash between Duke and North Carolina: Blue Devils released their injury report for the final week of the regular season this morning, and it appears Duke is as healthy as a football team in November can be:
I guess *** finally did freeze over. I just now noticed but Duke football is actually ranked in the Top 25 and has clinched a share of the ACC Coastal Division title with one win at UNC-Chapel Hill away from winning the division out-right and their first 10-win season in their entire 125-year history of sponsored football. By the way, David Cutcliffe is their headcoach. Tennessee fans should remember Cutcliffe as he was the Vols offensive coordinator under Philip Fulmer back in the late 90's when Tennessee won two southeastern Conference titles and the national title in 1998. Cutcliffe's specialty was quarterbacks and is credited for helping groom Heath Shuler and Peyton Manning during their college years. He helped develop Tee Martin into a national title winner. If Duke defeats North Carolina, wins the ACC championship game, and then wins their bowl game, the Blue Devils would finish 12-2 on the season. That, coupled with the six wins from last year would give Duke 18 wins in a two year span being ...
Duke is 7-2.  The Blue Devils end their season with Miami, at Wake Forest, and at North Carolina.  Duke can win each game.  What? David Cutcliffe is the greatest coach since, well, Steve Spurrier.  Spurrier is the last coach to lead the Blue Devils to an ACC championship. Wednesday, November 13 is a big day for the MAC.  Ball State (9-1) visits Northern Illinois(9-0).  The Huskies have an outside chance of making the Bowl Championship Series’ games. Undefeated Baylor gets their first meaningful win this week and defeats Oklahoma convincingly.  Oregon loses to Stanford.  Alabama destroys a good LSU team. 1.  Alabama (Texas A&M, LSU) 1.  Baylor (Oklahoma) 1.  Florida State (Clemson) 1.  Ohio State (Wisconsin) 5.  Auburn (Loss to LSU) 5.  Clemson (Loss to Florida State) 5.  Michigan State (Loss to Notre Dame) 5.  Missouri (Loss to South Carolina) 9.  Central Florida (Loss to South Carolina) 9.  Louisville (Loss to Central Florida) 9.  Oklahoma State (Loss to West Virginia) 9.  Oregon ( ...
Big one tonight for dukefieldhockey in Chapel Hill as the Blue Devils take on No. 1 North Carolina in…
Ah the land of Tar Heels and Blue Devils. What up North Carolina?
BlueDevil news: Chapel Hill, N.C. -- Seth Curry kept burying shots against helpless North Carolina defenders to give No. 3 Duke a big lead, then Mason Plumlee dominated inside to keep the Blue Devils in complete control against their fiercest rival. This performance was about more than just beating up the Tar Heels. It was the Blue Devils showing they're determined to play their best in March. Curry hit his first seven shots during Duke's torrid start, helping the Blue Devils cruise to a 69-53 victory Saturday night in a game that was never in doubt. Curry finished with 20 points, while Plumlee had his best performance in a month with 23 points and 13 rebounds. That duo provided Duke (27-4, 14-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) all the punch it needed to earn a season sweep of the Tar Heels. "You want to be playing at your best going into the tournament and you can't afford a loss at this point in the season where you're questioning your lineups and what your identity is,'' Plumlee said. "It was the kind of wi ...
Duke’s dominant ACC 69-53 victory against North Carolina on Saturday night might been expected in the middle of February, when the Blue Devils and Tar Heels played for the first time in Durham in Cameron Indoor Stadium. But it wasn’t expected now. Not at the Smith Center.
Duke-Maryland Preview By NOEY KUPCHAN (STATS Writer) | The Associated Press While Duke's six-game winning streak began with an easy victory over Maryland three weeks ago, it's since encountered a few close calls. Coach Mike Krzyzewski expects another difficult challenge in College Park. The No. 2 Blue Devils try to continue their dominance of a Terrapins team that's had plenty of time to prepare for Saturday's showdown. Freshman Rasheed Sulaimon had a season-high 25 points to lead all five starters in double figures as Duke (22-2, 9-2 ACC) cruised to an 84-64 rout of Maryland on Jan. 26. While the Blue Devils also posted one-sided victories over Florida State and North Carolina State during their run, each of their other three wins proved much more challenging. After getting by Wake Forest 75-70 on the road Jan. 30, Duke had its hands full again Sunday in a 62-61 win at Boston College. The Blue Devils then trailed for the first 26 minutes Wednesday against archrival North Carolina before picking up the pa ...
Duke Basketball on Path to No. 1 Seed in NCAA Tourney After Win over UNC By Timothy Rapp (Featured Columnist) on February 14, 2013 The Duke Blue Devils have absolutely no reason to miss out on a No. 1 seed this season in the NCAA tournament. After beating North Carolina on Wednesday evening, the schedule is quite favorable for the Blue Devils down the stretch. Sure, Duke has a date with No. 3 Miami at home and closes the season by traveling to Chapel Hill to play the Tar Heels once again, but Duke should split those contests at the worst and should win its five other games in the league. From there, all the Blue Devils likely need to do to earn a top seed in the tournament is reach the finals or possibly even semifinals of the ACC tournament. In a year when the league is pretty weak, that shouldn't be too difficult to do. Duke is too talented to suddenly fold down the stretch and blow a golden opportunity. Mason Plumlee is one of the most dominant post players in the country, averaging 18.2 points and 10. ...
At the end of the first half against North Carolina, Duke's Tyler Thornton was asked to do something he had never done before. Play the “4” forward position for the Blue Devils.
To my North Carolina fans. Only those who have lived it and who are there near it can understand the basketball rivalry between the Blue Devils and Tar Heels. My last year at Duke was Coach K's first. Duke went 17-12 that year and then had three loosing seasons in a row. He and Dean Smith had some heated battles over the years and I will say this. Borrow none it is the greatest college basketball rivalry in the country. Two first class programs run by first class institutions. I was really excited being a kid from Oklahoma to get to attend a school like Duke. I barely got in in the first place. I'm still excited about the rivalry after all these years. While there in Durham I witnessed family's that would not speak to each other game week - split down the middle - one side for Duke the other for UNC. It's just a way of life in North Carolina. I was proud to call North Carolina home for several years and still call it my second home. So if you're reading remarks from Tar Heel fans and you're n ...
Little men, big rally With Mason Plumlee in foul trouble, Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski goes to a small lineup and the Blue Devils rally from down 10 for a 73-68 win over rival North Carolina. They ride the play of point guard Quinn Cook.

Sean Renfree's 5-yard touchdown pass to Jamison Crowder on fourth down with 13 seconds left lifted Duke past North Carolina 33-30 on Saturday night and made the Blue Devils bowl eligible for the first time since 1994.
Really excited about visiting North Carolina and, of course, Duke University, while I’m there, in August! Go, Blue Devils!
A UK fan in North Carolina... Think the Tar Heels and Blue Devils would try to kick me out?
You can't bash North Carolina for the *** marriage thing cause they have the Tar Heels and Blue Devils!
As if the Tar Heels and Blue Devils didn't give me enough reasons to dislike North Carolina.
