As a child Almagir's only influence to music was Elvis Presley. The very first song that he ever uttered to sing a song was at the age of 10, and that was Elvis's song " His Latest Flame ". As a toddler he once got so attracted to a Hemanta Mukherjee's record his father was listening, that he crawled to the gramophone and ripped off the mesh covering the speaker in an effort to locate the source of the melodious voice. As he was growing older so was his number of influences. Legends like Abbasuddin, who was his father's favorite singer, Hemanta Mukherjee, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Englebert Humperdink, Ustad Amir Khan, Ustad Salamat Ali, Roshan Ara Begum, Mozzart, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mannade, Simon and Garfunkel, Billy Joel, Mehdi Hassan and Elton John were among his influences.

Musician's are sometimes asked who their musical influences have been over the years and for some reason I found myself making a mental list while in the shower tonight. I think it's the first time I have actually 'REALLY' thought about that question. This is what I came up with in no specific rank or chronological order. Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Bing Crosby, Elton John, Bruce Hornsby, Jackson Browne, Rascal Flatts, Peter Frampton, Aretha Franklin, Dave Mathews, Bob Dylan, Lyle Lovett, Counting Crows, Pearl Jam, AC/DC, Foreigner, John Mayer, Casting Crowns, Paul Mccartney, Alanis Morissette, Eric Clapton, Paul Rodgers, Indigo Girls, Mercy Me, Bob Seger, The 'Boss', James Taylor, Zach Brown, Frank Sinatra, Chris Rice, & Earth, Wind & Fire, AND of course those a little closer to home - These locals have all been an inspiration to me in one way or another. Whether it be by their pure talent, performances, musicianship, guidance, song writing, and for some a combination of them all! Kelly Jones, Dave ...

on this very day in 1998, Paul Mccartney held a Memorial Service at St. Martin in the Fields Church in London for his wife Linda, who had succumbed to breast cancer a few months earlier...George and Ringo attended, as did Elton John and Billy Joel; the 700-plus gathering sang Paul's "Let It Be" in tribute to her life and activism.

Watching the Linda Ronstadt induction into the R&R Hall Of Fame... Wow, I forgot how many great songs she had. I'm so glad my mom constantly had music playing at my house growing up... Billy Joel, Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles, Elton John, Wings, James Taylor... I'm biased, but the 70's produced the greatest music.
So, Billy Joel is tomorrow, and I'm wicked excited... You'll also be glad to know that Paul Mccartney is also coming out to Phoenix in a few months... and no question there, I did get tickets for that as well.. :) ...Is Elton John planning on coming around soon as well??

Elton John update: He was a magical helper today. Gabriella had a smile on her face the whole time. Each time a new song came on she wanted to know what it was about. (I had no idea.) She tried to memorize the songs. And get deep into the philosophical meanings of the songs. I have no idea why Lucy is in the sky with diamonds but she is. She did explain a theory that "Daniel" was connected to Mister Rogers and Daniel Tiger... After we heard all the top hits, I but on Billy Joel who I like better. She informed me it wasn't "Tawn John" I lied and said yes it was. It's a dude singing with his piano. She wasn't fooled and cried until I started the hits again. Drew Vandiver you seriously need to come up here and let her pick your brain.
Thinking about great contemporary lyricists like Bob Dylan, Elton John, Jackson Browne, Billy Joel, or John Lennon, and realizing that America's youth will grow up singing "Them baggy sweat pants and Reeboks with the strap...She turned around and gave that big booty a smack...She hit the floor...Next thing you know...Shorty got low low low low low low low" *smh*
I have seen many amazing performers in my life, but never have I ever had an experience as I did at the concert I attended last night. Last night, on May 19th, 2014, Barry Gibb performed at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. And it's plain to see that Barry Gibb, even at the age of 67, is still keeping the Bee Gee tradition of excellent music and extraordinary showmanship alive. I first learned that Barry was coming to Philadelphia after watching him on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. I have been a fan of the Bee Gees ever since I was a little girl. It is not an exaggeration at all to say that I am a life long fan of the Bee Gees, and for that matter, music itself. I have been to many concerts and have seen many fantastic performers, such as Barry Manilow, the Celtic Tenors, Billy Joel, Air Supply, Elton John, Styx, Cher, REO Speedwagon - and the list goes on and on. But after last night's concert, I can easily say that Barry Gibb put on the best concert that I have had the pleasure of attend ...

The most amazing day!!! Kicked out of a mosque by Muazzin because my skirt was too short, attacked by a monkey that a man chased off with a stick, literally mobbed by at least 50 people to have their pictures taken with us ( mostly Alex because she is younger, whatever!) , our guide Rogert knew all the Billy Joel & Elton John songs & we sang duets constantly, was addressed by Rogert & introduced to strangers as 2nd wife MumTaj Mahal (arjumand bano begum) because we have the same birthday ( she was the reason for the Taj Mahal & reincarnation is really big here , ya know!!) & snuck into a private chamber of a palace by a caretaker that few people ever see... Most amazing day!!!

I have to say in my my life there has been some great bands,it's so hard to pick which one's are my favorites,I would have to say I am a little partial to The Rolling Stones,I never call them that,I call them *** and the boys, awesome group for almost 50 years, but in recent years,Matchbox 20 is up there for me too.As solo artists, another hard one for me,but I really like Billy Joel,he's definetly a Piano Man,songs about life are so true.Right up there with Billy is Elton John,so many good songs, countless of them.Going back a little.I am also a huge fan of Motown,Wislon Pickett,Smokey Robinson,Temptations, the best there was and is.For woman of music,I loved Janis Joplin, that woman could sing her *** off,Pat Benatar, another woman that could rock,I also liked Heart, thought they were good also. And I gotta give it up to the King of Rock,Elvis, the man could sing the telephone book,Rock, country,Gospel,he was good, who was some of your favorites during your time?

For many years on the Wolfman Jack TV Shows, I gave Young Chang (the makers of Kurzweil), rolling credits on the shows. They supplied me with Keyboards and pianos for more than 15 years. On the evening of the last Wolfman Jack show, I had told Billy Preston, who as a guest, that they had sent me a white grand piano as a gift for my efforts over the years. He told me "white piano! Give to Charity and take it off your taxes". I began to take out the keys and Fedex them to the great keyboard player around the world. It cost over $6000 to send and return the 52 white keys. Keys signed by everyone from Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock in Jazz, to Floyd Kramer and Mickey Gilley in Country, Stevie Wonder gave me a thumb print, Billy Joel, Elton John, Joni Mitchell. I was asked by Give Kids the world to sign. I am between Paul Mccartney and Victor Borge. Currently the piano resides in the John Lennon Room at Hard Rock Live Orlando. In 1992 I put together The Celebrity Keyboard Concert also to benefit Give Kids the ...
My assignment from Nancy Boutilier was list 10 albums that have stayed with me over the years. The greatest man I have ever met... To stay awake during my drive back from SoCal I started mentally making a list of all the celebrities I have met. In no particular order: Muhamed Ali, Scott Baio, Tom Carroll, *** Alba, Steve Alba, Tony Hawk, Boyd Coddington, Reggie Jackson, Wally Joyner, Hugh Downs, Paul Harvey, Bruce Jacobs, Andrew Babinski, Barry Young, Newt Gingrich, Elton John, Billy Joel, Dana Carvey, Michael Keaton, and more. Though many would consider these men very remarkable; the greatest man I have ever met is my Grandfather, Don Farr.
Picked up a nice stack of x14 CD's for about $15 not too long ago at a thrift store. Just getting a chance to listen to some of them now. I ended up with; Spin Doctors, Sammy Hagar, Billy Joel, U2, Eagles, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Sheryl Crow, Tom Petty, No Doubt, Elton John, Los Lonely Boys, Bob Seger, Tom Petty again and Brian Setzer. I rarely watch late night talk shows and awards. As February 6th approaches Jay Leno moves on there is one guest which is memorable. Leonard Cohen singing The Future in 1993, title of his album. To me and many others Cohen is an icon as a singer, song writer, poet, and much, much more. Singers, song writers, and producers today I doubt all but a few young ones will be remembered in the next 40 plus years unlike Cohen, Dylan, Carole King, Seeger, Beatles, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Billy Joel, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper, and there are a few others. Young ones today will fade. None today can match Cohen's Hallelujah and Democracy. Masterpieces. Dancing or weddings (did not watch the Grammys) to grab attention rather than the music is so sad. Mr. Leno wish you the best and would like to see again Leonard Cohen among your last guests. It would one of very few late night talk shows to be seen by me in the near and far future.
Now... some of you know that I am not a huge fan of country music... However I have to say there were a number of great performances last night on the Grammys. I thought Macklemore was fantastic (minus Madonna) and Beyoncé and JZ... and one of my favorites was Pink and Fun... fantastic... but I have to just say... I was HUGELY impressed by the old school performance by Taylor Swift. We all complain that the modern artists do not write their own songs or know how to play instruments. Here is an artist sitting at the piano and just pouring her heart and soul out in that song... it was just a great performance... This was a performance that reminded me of a young Billy Joel or an Elton John sitting at the piano and showing us their mad skills. Oh and she can also play the guitar the violin and the bass? Say what you want but Taylor Swift is a musician... Ok I am done... back to work...
Someone please tell Sherleen that "Benny and the Jets" is Elton John and NOT Billy Joel, please!!!
Can I work at the new spot you're opening up? I promise I won't listen to Billy Joel or Elton John, only have The Ramones
Kind of love the idea of Billy Joel and Elton John doing a set together at The 'Roo. AND PRINCE!
Peter is recording his last Blues track for his up coming release with Bob Lizik (Five String Bassist) of the Brian Wilson Group. Bob has also recorded with Billy Joel, produced Madonna & performed with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Elton John, Paul Mccartney (Vocals Acoustic Guitar), Richie Sambora to name a few. Bob also recorded with Peter on his CD "A Plush Horse...with a Monkey on a String". Bob's a great player and performer that keeps his ego in his pocket, an all around great guy. Peter's glad to be working with Bob again.
Rules: In your status update, list 10 albums that have stayed with you in some way. Don't take but a few minutes, and don't think too hard. They don't have to be the "right" or "great" records. Just the ones that have touched you. Tag 10 (or more) friends, including me, so I'll see your list. 1. Dan Fogelberg - Innocent Age, 2. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon, 3. Chicago Transit Authority, 4. Frampton Comes Alive, 5. Blood Sweat and Tears - What Goes Up, 6. George Winston - Autumn, 7. Billy Joel - Piano Man, 8. Styx - Grand Illusion, 9. Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, 10. Grand Funk Railroad - Mark Don & Mel. Honorable mentions : Crosby Stills & Nash – CSN. David Lanz – Skyline Firedance. That was tough, I could have easily listed 20 more. Music soothes my soul. I sincerely hope that the last thing I hear before I leave this old world is a big strong power chord and some 70's long haired dude wailing away.
Five years after teaming up with Elton John for a concert at Wrigley Field, Billy Joel will return this summer for a solo concert.
I liked a video Elton John & Billy Joel: Face to Face in Tokyo, Japan 1998
Elton John, The Beatles, John Lennon, Billy Joel. The start of my morning. Hoping it's the start of a solid day.
Live Nation has announced today that Billy Joel will perform at Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. The concert will be Billy Joel’s first appearance at The Q since 2009 when he teamed up with Elton John for their “Face 2 Face” tour

New Years Eve snowing outside...inside with my woman at the casino aurora and show at 10:00 a tribute to Elton John / Billy Joel at the Paramount Theater. Benny and the jets.. Oh *** yes .. Doesn't get any better than this to bring n 2014. :-)

A little about THE MAN IN BLACK! Just watched Johnny and June on a episode of little house! He has recorded more than 1,500 songs and they can be found on about 500 albums, counting only American and European releases. More of his albums (45) remain in print today than most artists ever make. He is the youngest person ever chosen for the Country Music Hall of Fame and the only person ever selected for the Country and Rock Music Hall Of Fame, until this 1998, when Elvis Presley was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He has placed 48 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop charts, about the same number as the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys. He has tallied more Pop hit singles than Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson (including his Jackson 5 hits), the Four Seasons, David Bowie, the Supremes, Elton John, Billy Joel, Kenny Rogers, the combined totals of Art Garfunkel, Paul Simon and Simon & Garfunkel, Martin Gaye, B.B. King, Roy Orbison, Kool & the Gang, Linda Ronstadt. Diana Ross, the combined tota ...
Golly, I still love Bachman Turner Overdrive, just as much as I did when I was a kid. BTO, KISS, Styx, Aerosmith (before they sold out to pop), Elton John (before he sold out to pop), Robin Trower, The Who, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, the Eagles, John Cougar, Bryan Adams, Electric Light Orchestra, Jerry Reed (yes, Jerry Reed), Gary Stewart, Gordon Lightfoot, 10cc, April Wine, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Marshall Tucker Band, Bad Company, Eddie Money, Billy Idol, Billy Joel, Van Halen (David Lee Roth), Charlie Rich, Pink Floyd, Charlie Pride, Dan Fogelberg, Chicago, The Commodores, Grand Funk Railroad, Boston, Meatloaf, Prince, Linda Ronstadt, Don Henley, Donald Fagan, Earth Wind and Fire, ZZ Top, Paul Rodgers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Heart, Heatwave, and thousands more it seems, were all a huge part of my world when I was growing up. I hope you read the name of a band or two that brought back good memories for you too. Now, go listen to some Classic Rock!
I love listening to Elton John and getting emotional then listening to Billy Joel having self-realizations

article compares you to legends Billy Joel, Elton John & Jon Bon Jovi
Renewed love for Billy Joel and Elton John. Pop music nowadays should get there notepads out
Sometimes I catch myself listening to Elton John, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Led Zeppelin, and think "I'm an old man and I'm proud"
Elton John and Billy Joel always make me cry
Whether you love them or hate them. Billy Joel in concert, just like Elton John, is remarkable. Both guys have tiny hands, yet they're terrific piano players. Also singing up a storm in their mid sixties. I'm well jell.
I miss the piano. For decades the piano was a constant force in pop, rock and country music. All the best songs were piano based and played by the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, and Elton John, but today. Nothing. I really miss this instrument.
I love the fact that I will never get over my love for Billy Joel, Elton John, and James Taylor. So thankful for parents who love good music
I screwed up and commented on Tricia Raver Cannon's status and she assigned me 12 facts about myself-wth! thanks! We will start basic info and go from there... 1. I have a son and daughter-Noah is 19 and Samantha is 16. 2. I have been married to Ed for 19 years(side note-he is Delonda Mayle's brother). 3. I have worked at the same office for 17 years- I have done everything from medical assisting to xrays to Billing Supervisor. 4. I love all kinds of music-except for Barbershop:/ from Frank Sinatra to the Chili Peppers, Avett Brothers...all kinds.. it is my outlet:) 5. I have a violin and my goal is to get lessons one day and learn to play Devil Went Down To Georgia(Charlie Daniels) 6. I have "old woman hands" I was born with them. 7. The year my son was born, I was scared to death I would never be able to see another concert again so that summer I saw 7 concerts- including Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, The Eagles, Billy Joel and Elton John( I guess Noah heard them, too). 8. I lean Libertarian- and seem to g ...
I love how my changes from Billy Joel to hard rock, to Elton John, to Everclear, then 80's music, then to heavy *** metal!
I really have an old soul when it comes to music! Carol King , Frank Sinatra , Etta James , The Supreams, Billy Joel , and Elton John
As I tuck my Cher concert tix safely in my sock drawer, Jackson starts to ask me about all the concerts I've seen in my lifetime. WOW.Prince, The Eagles, Tina Turner, Van Halen, Elton John, Billy Joel, KISS, Aerosmith, Tesla, Randy Travis, Brooks & Dunn, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Tim Mcgraw, Faith Hill, Aaron Tippin, Chaka Kahn, Boston, Alabama, Joan Jett, Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, and the list goes on! Some of these folks I've seen more than once! Still have so many artists I want to see.Garth Brooks, Justin Timberlake, LL Cool J, Miranda Lambert, Toby Keith, Katy Perry, etc. I've never even see Buffet live! I think I'll start a jar labeled "Concert Fund", these things aren't cheap you know!
In June, Sting, Billy Joel and Smokey Robinson sang in honor of Elton John, Foreigner and Berry Gordy, who were all getting inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The night also included the inclusion of Aerosmith, inducting Steven Tyler and Joe Perry together. Well, the Songwriters Hall of Fam...
Ending our night listening to Melanie Smith play the heck out of this piano. We've gone from Mozart to Amazing Grace to Cinderella to Ozzy to Skynrd to Billy Joel to Elton John. This girl amazes us!
Dweeby post time! Been listening to Billy Joel a lot lately and have been retro-inspired to come up with my own version of "We Didn't Start the Fire" based on my lifetime. Joel wrote the song for his 40th birthday reflecting on all the events of his life up to that point. So far with my version, which would start in 1974, I have "Richard Nixon, Watergate, Patty Hearst, Elton John, Kung Fu Fighting, Sears Tower.blah blah blah.South Vietnam/North Vietnam, Jaws, Carlton Fisk, Edmund Fitzgerald, Saturday Night Live." for the first might take a couple of months but I think I could hammer it out. Please feel free to throw out any other important news events, songs, movies, TV shows, celebrities over the past 40 years.
OK, last rant of the evening. Is it me or does Justin Timberlake sound like he's whining when he sings? Sorry, but that's NOT SOULFUL. I know little boys who have more soul in there pinky toe than him and Robin Thicke combined. I like their recordings, but hearing them live ain't the business. Billy Joel is soulful. Simply Red is soulful. Kurt Elling is soulful. George Michael is soulful. Elton John is soulful. These two guys claim they're the heirs to "blue-eyed" soul (THAT TERM DRIVES ME CRAZY). Well if that's the case, DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
Wow. What an amazing event our little town put on! Congrats to La Binerie Plantagenet for the Festival de la Bine! Manon Séguin and her trio rocked the crowd with tunes from French Canadian singers but also some great English artists like Elton John, Billy Joel and Leonard Cohen. Pics to come!
Any girl that can jam out to Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and Elton John is a girl I can date
It's always one of those nights ;) "John Mayer, Elton John, and Billy Joel.. It's one of those nights!"

In school textbooks, the difference between USA and the UK should be illustrated with photos of Billy Joel vs Elton John.
Interesting chart statistic I just came across in researching tonight. The Beatles scored five BILLBOARD Top 10 singles on the US Charts with B-sides ("PS I Love You", "She's A Woman", ""Day Tripper", "Strawberry Fields Forever", and "Something") between 1964 and 1969. By way of comparison, to date, the Rolling Stones, Jackson 5/Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Elton John, and the Eagles-- combined-- have zero.
I want to see Billy Joel and Elton John in concert really bad...
Am I the only person who can go from listening to Drake to The Weeknd to Bon Iver to Elton John to Billy Joel?
Billy Joel and Elton John meet once again! This is an amazing concert featuring two full live tribute bands with each doing a set then they do the famous encore together. The show is based in Florida and will travel.
I am not happy that Lite 94.5 is now a country station! We already have 99.1 if we want to hear country! Sometimes you just want to hear singers like Billy Joel, Elton John, Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, etc.
In the 70's we used to go to a lot of concerts... 3 Dog Night, T Rex, Uriah Heap, Styx, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Aerosmith, Rush, Yes, Kansas, James Taylor, Eddie Money, Pat Benetar, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, Jethro Tull, Bruce Springstein, REO, Kansas, Angel, KISS, Gary Wright, Santana, Greatful Dead, Eric Clapton, The Tubes, Peter Frampton, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Marshal Tucker, Elton John, Ted Nugent, Black Sabbath, Todd Rungren, Robin Trower, Sammy Hagar, Willie Nelson and The Ramones...just off the top of my head...This is your fault Susi, you said Ian Anderson and all this rushed back into my head.
on this day in music history... 1967 - The Beatles recorded "All You Need Is Love" live on the "Our World" program. 1969 - The Hollies recorded "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother," with Elton John playing piano. 1969 - *** Taylor made his first concert appearance with the Rolling Stones after he had replaced Brian Jones. 1984 - The soundtrack "Purple Rain" was released five weeks ahead of the film. 1984 - Patti Scialfa joined Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. 1988 - Hillel Slovak of the Red Hot Chili Peppers died. 1992 - Billy Joel got his high school diploma. He had overslept and missed English and Gym finals 25 years before. 1995 - Pearl Jam canceled their tour because of an ongoing feud with Ticketmaster. 2003 - The Recording Industry Association of America disclosed its plans to fight Internet piracy. The plan was to sue hundreds of individual computer users who illegally share music files online. The process was planned to begin the next day. 2004 - Eric Clapton raised about $7.5 million for a drug a ...
Three of the best song writers in the history of music were Beatles...another guy was Bob Dylan. Besides those guys, who are your favorite song writers? For me, I've got: Chris Cornell, Elvis Costello, Jim Croce, Billy Joel, and Elton John. Who do you like?

Elton John reconciles with Billy Joel at Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony
Todd East began playing piano and singing at the age of three. He began his professional career at the age of fifteen and has been performing ever since. Blind since birth, Todd is often compared to Stevie Wonder, one of his major influences. Other influences include Billy Joel, Elton John, and Bruce Hornsby. Todd is considered one of the premier pianists and vocalists in the Kansas City area and continues to perform not only as a solo artist, but with a wide variety of groups. Todd has performed internationally (at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Club in Paris, France) regionally at Foxwoods Casino Resort at the Rochester N.Y. Music Festival. Check out
Thanks to the beneficence of one of Whinnies & Knickers customers, Whinnies & Knickers employees spent Employee Appreciation Day at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards dinner in Manhattan. There were exciting performances by Sting, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Foreigner, Jordan Sparks, the cast of Motown, Petula Clark, Patti Smythe, Holly Knight and others. Elton John & Bernie Taupin were among those who received awards and Billy Joel was one of the presenters. We had a great time!!! We got home at 3:57 a.m.!!! Can't remember the last time I stayed up that late. Now we are back to work and enriched by the experience.
Went to the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards on Thursday, what a treat. Met Smokey and got a great pic of him and Rachel back stage (many others also). Talked with her old boss Clive D. Gary Del Abatte, Felix Cavalerie, Mark Hudson, Rob Thomas many others. What a show. Presenters, Billy Joel, Sting, Paul Williams, Pattie Smythe, Chad Kroger, Smokey, Rob Thomas, Petulia Clarke, Allison Krause. Receivers, Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Steve Tyler and Joe Perry, Bennie Blanco, *** Jones and Lou Grahm, JD Souther. Most played a spectacular set including the cast of Motown and Lou and *** did "I want to know what Love is" with a full chorus backing vocal. Who says he doesnt still have it. Front table thanks to Henry and the Gibson Company. Pictures to follow.

I know everyone is dying to know...I had the best time last night and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience getting into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, performing a pared down version of Love Is A Battlefield - I felt like one of 'the boys' with Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Elton John, Bernie Taupin, Sting, Billy Joel, Allison Krauss, J.D. Souther *** Jones and Lou Gramm, Avril Lavigne, Rob Thomas, Natalie Cole,Tony Hatch ..I rocked in a beautiful Slinky black gown and 5 " heels (ala Morticia)...My love ones, Jane, Tristan,Tina by my side... Wow wow wow..such an honor, truly humbled and so happy !!
The ceremony was full of star power that included Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Billy Joel, Sting, Elton John and a video message from Bill Clinton
Sting performed in honor of Elton John, Billy Joel sang snippets of Foreigner's hits when introducing the band and Smokey Robinson debuted part of
Humbling to have sat in a room with cats like Billy Joel, Smokey Robinson, Barry Gordy, Elton John & Bernie Taupin, JD Souther, Tony Hatch, Sting, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry and a handful of others and hear them talk about the power of a song and the songwriting process. A night I will never forget. Our table just happened to be next to Steven Tyler and Joe Perry's. In fact - Steven and I basically sat back to back all night which was interesting for a couple of reasons. One - you can imagine how many people came over to hug him throughout the night which meant that brad and I were constantly having people bump into us but more importantly Stevens passion for music. Not just rock and roll but every style/genre and that was so evident last night. It didn't matter what genre, decade etc...he knew every lyric of every song and sang along with so much joy. I was blown away by his passion and knowledge across the board - to often we lump musicians into categories and say things like, he's just a rock guy or hi ...
Spending the evening at The Songwriters Hall of Fame with someone whom I admire greatly as an incredible songwriter herself, Kay Story! Being feet away from Billy Joel, Aerosmith, Sting, Elton John, Foreigner, Patty Smythe was an 80's dream come true! Incredible!!!
My brother has challenged me to come up with the 100 songs I'd choose if my iPod only held 100 songs. This is an impossible task, and there's no way I could pare it down to only 100 (I actually made it down to about 150 of 'can't live without' songs, but had to ditch a bunch for this exercise, including Van Halen, Toto, U2, Willie, Sting, Weezer, and a bunch more ...) Anyway, here are 100 of my picks ... BTW - I have NOT looked at Jimmy's list yet, so it will be interesting to see how many match ... 1. Elton John - Burn Down the Mission 2. Billy Joel - Zanzabar 3. Carpenters - Goodbye to Love 4. Aimee Mann - Save Me 5. Paul Simon - Hearts and Bones 6. Al Green - I'm Still In Love With You 7. Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away 8. Allman Bros. - Jessica 9. America - Tin Man 10. Peter Gabriel - The Rythym of the Heat 11. Andy Kim - Rock Me Gently 12. Rolling Stones - Anybody Seen My Baby? 13. Argent - Hold Your Head Up 14. Steely Dan - Rikki Don't Lose That Number 15. Bachman Turner Overdrive - You Ain' ...

Tyler Lyle's big night in NYC winning a scholarship from the ASCAP Songwriter's Hall Of Fame. Your family loves you so proud of you and Anna Jimenez who is there tonight in the room with Elton John, Billy Joel and the old greats as they welcome the new great songwriters of the world.

Today we are remembering Ray Charles, who passed away 9 years ago today. Frank Sinatra called Charles “the only true genius in show business,” although Charles downplayed this notion. Rolling Stone ranked Charles number ten on their list of "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" in 2004, and number two on their November 2008 list of "100 Greatest Singers of All Time". In honoring Charles, Billy Joel noted: "This may sound like sacrilege, but I think Ray Charles was more important than Elvis Presley. Charles died on June 10, 2004, at 11:35 a.m. due to liver failure/hepatitis C at his home in Beverly Hills, California, surrounded by family and friends. He was 73 years old. His final album, Genius Loves Company, released two months after his death, consists of duets with various admirers and contemporaries: BB King, Van Morrison, Willie Nelson, James Taylor, Gladys Knight, Michael McDonald, Natalie Cole, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, and Johnny Mathis. The album won eight Grammy Awards, ...
THE 10 MOST ANNOYING THINGS BANDS DO AT CONCERTS~ ( Thought this was worth a share. What do you think?~Madison) Rolling Stone has compiled a list of the 10 most annoying things that bands do at rock concerts, and without naming names, Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose would top the list as the number-one most annoying habit is “show up ridiculously late.” 2) Exclude key band members. “When Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac and Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones decided to scale back their lives and get off the road, we would have all preferred to see them with their bands still. The shows suffered from their absence, but people have a right to quit. A band isn't the mafia.” 3) Play too much from the new album. Culprits include Neil Young and Radiohead. 4) Only perform the hits. Culprits include Elton John and Billy Joel. 5) Play anything resembling a medley. 6) Ignore the music of your beloved former band. 7) Play perverse arrangements of your songs. Bob Dylan is the biggest offender of this one. Never var ...

Elton John, Billy Joel, Phil Collins what would've happened if Freddie Mercury had written the soundtrack of a Disney Movie
Trivia question of the day - Who are your favorite keyboards players in popular music – although jazz is still popular music I’m not including those guys here because they are often the best hotshots, but I will make some honourable mentions which includes two great jazz players. I’m including pianists, organists, moog players etc and lumping them all together so it’s kind of hard and unfair to have a top ten of this category, but I’m still going to mention players that have affected me and made me notice their work – Keith Emerson, Bill Payne, Billy Joel, Burton Cummings, Bruce Hornsby, Ray Charles, Rick Wakeman, and Elton John. Honourable mentions for three keyboard wizards who I’ve admired outside of the rock music circle would be Oscar Peterson, Liberace and Dave Brubeck. Who’s your favourites?
Went to see Tony Bennett tonight to celebrate our anniversary. Most expensive concert we ever went to. No kidding. And we've seen Billy Joel , Elton John, Babs, George Strait, Paul Mccartney , Yanni, etc. it was a great was the Beatles concert at 1/5 of the cost! Yikes!
I think Billy Joel and Elton John are two of the most amazing musicians of all time.
Best of season results: Angry Young Man from our Billy Joel vs. Elton John show won best song. Farmingdale won overall school. Congrats to all the other students and schools.
9:50PM 3/1/13 Day 47 Nancy's Update I clocked quite a few miles on I-64 today. Rode down to Williamsburg and back (twice) to pick up and return Nancy’s Mom. It was the first meeting between the Heintz girls in over 2 months. Definitely a Kodak moment and well worth the trip. Another “not a dry eye in the house” event. On road trips, Mae can handle a bit of Bread, ELO, Jackson Browne, Annie Lennox, Elton John and Billy Joel. But even after a couple of blunts, she had absolutely no time for George Thorogood, Jimmy Hendrix or Janis Joplin. “They just don’t make them like Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby anymore.” For the first time in almost 7 weeks, Nancy got dressed in her own clothes today. A few days ago I went home and brought back a wide assortment of Nancy’s clothes (as instructed) so that she could practice dressing herself. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring a bra and shoes. But what the *** minus bra and shoes, she is all set for a bus trip to Wal-Mart should it ever be offered. As ...
I'd suggest almost anything by Billy Joel or Elton John, maybe Dan Fogelberg or Kenny Loggins?
better than those three, and, to name a few, the Beatles, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Dr. Dre, and Elton John?
Elton John and Zac Brown?? Awesome. The best concert in the world would be Elton John, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and we'll throw in Bob Segar...they would rock. Now I have to find a song from Mavis Staples...what a voice. And Mumford and Sons??? Who? And...and.Brittany Howard? What a song though. Anyone else watching the Grammys? I'm working.. ;0
Listening to nothing but Elton John, Billy Joel, and Bruce Springsteen tonight.
Hate to admit it but was a huge fan - now I can legitimately wear tartan from the clan of McClain of Loch Buie on the Isle of Mull! Then I went all Sca & Mod! At some point I had the Goth look, but was into Billy Joel, Elton John, Joan Armatrading, anything Annie Lennox did, A lot of Bob Dylan, Suzanne Vega, Jonie Mitchell, ELO, White Snake & the Boomtown Rats!
Elton John and Billy Joel tribute; Wednesday, Feb 6, 2013 starts at 6pm!! Visit the Wine Bar@ Bella Viva for this special event... ...made available by PianoSync Technology and Apple iQ.
I think that for next year's Super Bowl Halftime Show being played at the Jersey Meadowlands, I think it will be Billy Joel performing the halftime gig with maybe an appearance by Elton John or Bruce Springsteen. That's my guess at this point.
"I've had enough of danger, And people on the streets, I'm looking out for angels, Just trying to find some peace, Now I think it's time, That you let me know, So if you love me, Say you love me, But if you don't just let me go... 'Cause teacher, There are things that I don't want to learn, And the last one I had, Made me cry, So I don't want to learn to, Hold you, touch you, Think that you're mine, Because it ain't no joy, For an uptown boy, Whose teacher has told him goodbye, goodbye, goodbye..." Etlaba mang if not George Michael??? Cookin my 7 colors alone at home, listening to my old school music sounds, kera da likes of James Blunt,Whitney Houston,Percy Sledge,Gladys Knight,Stevie Wonder,Elton John,Tracy Chapman,Celin Dion,Billy Joel,Boyzone,Brian Adams,Dan Siegel,Phil Colin etc...Ndibala ntoni na???my evening & hoping 4 no visitors#
Memorable concert. I've been to Madonna (twice), Christina Aguilera, Elton John, Coldplay (thrice), Janet Jackson, Chicago (back in the 80's with Peter), Iron and Wine, Lucinda Williams, Winona Judd, Heart, James Taylor (too many to count), Tori Amos, Billy Joel, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberflake (Simone's interpretation), Sarah Mclachlan, Air Supply, Hall & Oates, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Alison Krauss, Imogen Heap, to name a few. Definitely showing my age. I must say Ellie Goulding stands with the greats. You will be seeing her in giant venues very soon and I'll always have the pleasure of saying I saw her before she got too big to play small rooms.
Our Piano Man show visits the east side of the valley for gig at the magnificent Tempe Center For The Arts February 8th. Don't miss a night of Billy Joel and Elton John hits starring Terry Davies. Get tix & info here:

I heard from a friend that Elton John is coming to Houston, not sure exactly when or where, but I be the tickets are gonna be triple digits,, I saw him and Billy Joel together several years ago in Rice Stadium Awesome concert !!! ;o)
Attended a show at the park's ballroom by the Piano Man, complete with band and back-up singers. Songs by Elton John and Billy Joel. Took the first half for me to adjust to the LOUD volume, and I kept thinking how much my kids would have enjoyed it. I really enjoyed watching the individual players, and the tributes to Marilyn and Princess Diana. Oh! for the big bands...I'm in the wrong generation.
Billy Joel still not speaking to Elton John after 2011 rehab remarks - San Francisco Chronicle (blog): San Franc...
Pearl Jam will be playing Wrigley Field this July. Billed as “An Evening With Pearl Jam." No opening act. Wrigley doesn't have many concerts. Only a handful over the past few years such as The Police, Elton John & Billy Joel, Roger Waters, Paul Mccartney and Bruce Springsteen. Cubs president Theo Epstein is a fan and he chose his favorite 25 PJ cuts. My bet is that the tunes may be on the setlist.
Tonight Alex and I introduced the girls to the magic of Billy Joel and Elton John. Sarah is hooked on "She's Always a Woman to Me" and Emily has added "Crocodile Rock" to her workout playlist. Good times.
I added a video to a playlist Billy Joel and Elton John singing Piano Man
Andy Dirks, who do you prefer: Elton John or Billy Joel?
Though my favorite band is Green Day, my favorite decade of rock is the 70's which includes America, The Allman Brothers, Creedence, Queen, Billy Joel, Chuck Barry, The Beach Boys, Boston, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, The Doors, The Eagles, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mack, Foreigner, The Grateful Dead, Kansas, Led Zeplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Meat Loaf, Neil Diamond, Paul Simon, Pink Floyd, The Police, Quite Riot, Ramones, Ray Stevens, REO Speedwagon, Rod Stewart, Sex Pistols, Scorpions, Santana, Styx, Simon & Garfunkel, Three Dog Night, Twisted Sister, U2, Van Halen, The Who, ZZ Top. That's 42 bands, and a whole lot more I didn't mention. I challenge anyone to come up with a better decade then the 70's for music, because if you can list more than 42 bands, as big as these in one decade, then I would love to see this, because I believe that the decade that is often called the Disco era was in fact the single best decade of rock.
Played about an hour's worth of Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Bruce Hornsby, Elton John, Billy Joel, Bach and Rachmaninoff on the bar piano in the Greenwich Regency Hyatt. I meet the nicest people everywhere I go. What an amazing world. ツ
I wanna sing like Josh Turner, with the vibrato of Josh Groban and be able to play the piano like a combo of Elton John and Billy Joel
I feel like having some interaction with the fans. Pictures are nice, but let's talk! Hi, my name is not Rose, I like playing the piano, taking long walks in the summer, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Four Seasons, painting, chocolate, smiles, running, softball, volleyball, quiz bowl, and dancing. Now tell me about you!!! :D -Rose
Yes, my first concert was Billy Joel & Elton John...
Busy busy day! Had a great time entertaining at the Alliance House tonight playing an all-request show of Elton John, John Denver, Neil Diamond, Elvis and Queen. Oddly enough no one asked for Billy Joel (and I didn't offer!)
Reminiscing of the days when I lived out of a suitcase on the road with my family, cruising america, following pops from hotel, to motel, meeting people, studying in good ole Mitsubishi Expo, and jamming to Billy Joel and Elton John religiously. Thanks mama Silk! You made growing up like a musical!
I love it when Pandora plays Elton John and Billy Joel back to back

All the real gentlemen like Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Dean Martin and Elton John are so unappreciated these days
I started a new playlist that I think of as "80's adult rock". A few of them are outliers, but all have songs that seem to fit together. Any suggestions of who's missing and their memorable songs? Hall & Oates, Don Henley, Elton John, Billy Joel, Phil Collins, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, John Cougar Mellencamp, Bruce Hornsby, Howard Jones
Glimpse of Billy Joel on SkyArts. Or as John Peel described him: "imagine Elton John without the songs, the talent or the sense of humour."
Ray Charles, Elton John, Vladamir Horowitz and Billy Joel all have something in common. What is it ?
I can't believe I've seen Paul Mccartney, Elton John, and Billy Joel all in concert. Like, what kind of a spoiled fan am I anyway??
Our office is closed today, but we are open online! Tickets for our January concert featuring the music of Billy Joel and Elton John are available at any Panhandle Tickets location!

The song I wrote, and am very proud of, "Man Behind The Curtain" is coming together idea wise and I am very excited to show all of you the finished product! If you like Gaga, Elton John, or Billy Joel you will definetly like this tune! My friend Brian Lew will be playing on keys, and my favorite New England band Zanois will be making a spicier arrangement. I wrote this song two years ago and my vision is finally being pieced together! =-)

Michael Troy entertains us Tuesday the 18th at the Rheebo Holiday Party! Michael Troy has been a singer, songwriter, vocalist and piano player since he was in his teens. He is half of the Band Beloved Few and when their 1998 album debuted it was the Boston Globe "CD pick of the week." Also from that album the song "Please Take Care" came in second in the John Lennon songwriting contest. Michael has been the opening act for Heart, Eddie Money, The Beach Boys and California Transit Authority - to name a few. He has a CD coming out in the next 2 weeks called "Unveiled." "Unveiled" is Michael, his songs, his voice and his piano. Michael influences include Elton John, Billy Joel, Paul Rogers of Bad Company and several others. He includes covers of these artists in his performances.
Wishing a Happy Birthday to saxophonist, Eric Marienthal! Born this day in 1957 in Sacramento, CA USA, Eric Marienthal made his way up through the ranks and is now one of our top saxophonists. After graduating from high school in Southern California, Marienthal studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston where he says, he learned the value of practice! Certainly he applied this lesson well, for when he left Berklee, Marienthal was awarded its highest honor for proficiency on his instrument. As his career began, he joined trumpeter Al Hirt’s band in New Orleans and then moved on to the Disneyland Band in Anaheim, California. It was during that time that he was discovered by Chick Corea and brought into Corea's Elektric Band . Since then, it seems Marienthal has been discovered by all the top artists. He has played with the best of many genres: Elton John, Barbra Streisand, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Burt Bacharach, Aaron Neville, Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, David Benoit, Gordon Goodwin's Big Ph ...
The fact that I have seen Billy Joel, Elton John, and Bruce live the past 3 years makes me wonder who will come in 2013?
Breast Cancer Awareness
Still say the best concert I have ever been to was Elton John and Billy Joel at the Key. nothing will ever beat that. Billy Joel=Awesome
Piano Man by Billy Joel. Tiny Dancer by Elton John and of all time Taxi by Harry Chapin. Best songwriter ever.
Bach, Mozart, Gershwin -- and a medley of Elton John and Billy Joel songs. You can hear them all performed Sunday afternoon at Faith by pianist David Robison. The eighth annual Dorfmeyer Memorial Advent Concert begins at 3 p.m. Freewill offering.
These Dueling Pianos never fight with anything but Billy Joel and Elton John songs.
Who recorded the album called Graceland? Elton John, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Phil Collins. What do you think Emine answered?
Earlier this week, Thomas Suggs asked 'What's your vote for worst song of all time?' Great question. Of course, some obvious stock go-to answers come to mind: 'Yawa Em Ekat Ot Gnimoc Er'yeht' by Napoleon XIV (the B-Side to the already-hard-to-listen-to 'They're Coming To Take Me Away', played, you guessed it - backwards) - (by Morris Albert (Light Up My Life' by Debby Boone (by Harry Nilsson (Monster Mash' by Bobby 'Boris' Pickett and the Crypt Kickers (maybe something off Billy Joel's biggest regret, the 'Attila' album. Maybe 'Holy Moses'. (my personal 'worst song ever' is a cover song that cuts much deeper than any of those. --- I'm a big fan of Elton John's earlier works: 'Take Me To The Pilot', 'Amoreena', 'Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters', 'Friends'... the era long, long before Lion King's 'Hakuna Matata' or Aida's 'My Strongest Suit'. One song that has always grabbed me is 'Rocket Man': a portrait of an astro-worker, separated from his wife over the vast emptiness of space. It's a song about loneliness, ...
I attended the Caldwell Men's Chorus Fall Concert in Lenoir last night. Keith Smith is the director. Accompanied by pianist Greg Knight. The program was terrific. The music was a mixture of ageless music and modern compositions, liturgical and popular. The rendition of "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" had been arranged by Robert Austell, former associate minister at 1st Pres in Lenoir. Others: Billy Joel selections, "Maria" from West Side Story (Sondheim/Bernstein), "Can you Feel the Love Tonight?", (Tim Rice/Elton John) and "What I did for Love" (Kleban/Hamlisch). Brian Clark, a very talented tenor, was featured with solo's. And to add masterfully to all that, Bernaldo Evangelista was solo on "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Twenty two men blending four part harmony with excellent results. The Senior Center Songbirds, added 2 numbers. Outstanding.
Suddenly in a classic Billy Joel and Elton John mood.
Richard Wilkins is an *** You don't compare Paul Kelly & Neil Finn to Billy Joel & Elton John. Wrong on so many levels
That awkward moment when Billy Joel shouted "ichi, ni, ichi, ni, san, shi" before he sang My Life with Elton John.
"Pop music used to be a legitimate genre, now it's just a series of fads that people change on their iPod faster than Mitt Romney changes his positions. Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, they were pop music, and they lasted multiple decades. Billy Joel, and Elton John, over a decade at the top. Our culture now has pop musicians' runs start and end faster than we go through actors who play James Bond." - Andrew Ackner
Buddy's rockin the Billy Joel, Elton John and John Denver! And I thought I had a bad day at the racetrack!! ***
Thanks to Sylacauga First United Methodist for hosting last night's tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel. Chuck Terrell and Chris Phillips did a fantastic job and the food was great. Over $1800.00 was raised for the Methodist Children's Home. Good job!!!
Artist of the Day: The Gabe Dixon Band -- I know I've put a song or two of his on my wall, but today I wanted to incourage you to find his music. His music draws from the likes of Billy Joel and Elton John with a jazzy feel to it all. I've find myself being drawn to his songs during the day. He's was a member of Super Tramp oddly enough in 2010. He's been touring with Tony Lucca (Excellant in his own right) so he still out there singing his stuff solo I guess. I know his music and I find it magical, beautiful, smart and very engaging. Please find him and listen and tell me what you think. Thx.

I hate when songwriters can't think of anymore lyrics so they throw in la la la or na na na or something meaningless. Yeah I'm talking to you Manfred Mann, Van Morrison, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Steam, Roberta Flack, Elton John, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Seal, Hanson, Third Eye Blind, Will Smith, Blink-182, The White Stripes, Eiffel-65, Kylie Minogue, Jack Johnson, Eminem, Gwen Stefani, and O-Zone. Please take it personally... all of you.
