First Thoughts

Bill Lazor

William V. Lazor (born June 14, 1972) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the offensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins.

Ryan Tannehill Kevin Coyle Joe Philbin Dennis Hickey Miami Dolphins Chip Kelly Dan Campbell Nick Foles Mike Wallace Knowshon Moreno Mike Tannenbaum Lamar Miller Morgan Moses Jonathan Martin Jeff Ireland Mike Sherman

exactly yup, cuz bill Lazor and Philbin are killing it lol
And reports, Miami Dolphins have hired Eagles quarterback coach Bill Lazor as their new offensive coordinator.
bill Lazor, who ran Chip Kelly's Off, said the same thing last year, it didn't happen, don't believe it now, not a story
Bill Lazor is a better head coaching candidate than adam gase.
Bill Lazor blew it with Miller, never gave him the ball and put way too much pressure on Tannehill.
Many in media are criticizing Joe Philbin & Bill Lazor for handcuffing Ryan Tannehill w/o stopping to think WHY they did this!
Also in the article by it states that Bill Lazor was just as unpopular, if not more than, Kevin Coyle.

fire on the installment plan. OC Bill Lazor gone now, following DC Kevin Coyle, HC Joe Philbin. Doing last Feb's work now.
It was about time Bill Lazor was gone! Goodness, I said it since the 4th game he, Kevin Coyle, and Joe Philbin shoulda been gone!
Gotta say Bill Lazor had some good ideas but hard to argue with him being fired. Operation Clean Sweep continues.
Ryan Tannehill did not like Bill Lazor. Kenny Stills and Jordan Cameron as well. Tannehill may be the happiest man in the building today.
On 10/1, Dolphins' HC was Joe Philbin, OC was Bill Lazor, DC was Kevin Coyle. All are now gone, replaced by TEs coach, QBs…
Two things you can say about Bill Lazor:. 1. He's not Pat Shurmur. 2. His run schemes have, at times, looked exceptional.

Bill Lazor on Dolphins' deep ball: 'We've got to figure it out together'
Ryan Tannehill, with the revamped WR core and his 2nd year in Bill Lazor's system, is going to take another step forward.
Didn't hear anyone, at all, talking about Tannehill deserving $21.5M fully gtd before he played in Bill Lazor (Chip Kelly
Fact of the matter is Dennis Hickey and Mike Tannenbaum have a direct connection to Evan Mathis from his time with Bill Lazor
People for the event include Matt Moore, Bill Lazor, Dion Sims, Tom Garfinkel, and many more
Agreed, because Bill Lazor isn't as dumb as Kevin Coyle.
None of the teams with a head coach opening have asked the Dolphins to interview Bill Lazor for HC. So much for that Chip Kelly reputation
1) Miami's scoring has improved from 19.8 points per game in 2013 to 24.3 points per game this season. Philbin's hiring of first-year offensive coordinator Bill Lazor played a key role in that improvement. 2) Third-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill is having a career season. He has set career highs in touchdown passes (26) and passer rating (93.2) with one game remaining to pad those numbers. 3) The Dolphins had three losses this season by four points or less to three playoff teams (Denver, Green Bay and Detroit). If Miami pulled off any of these close games, the season result could have been different. ROSS - "Things are happening as an organization. I think everyone feels the buzz that things are changing around here, "They say patience is a virtue, you know. But I'm expecting big things next year -- I will tell you that."
Bill Lazor said Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is "getting better. He's playing with control."
The Dolphins offensive coordinator is named Bill Lazor. Based on his name alone, he was also on the show American Gladiators.
is Mike Wallace the real deal now that Bill Lazor is in MIA?
Way to let the clock run out at the end of the half. SMH. No killer instinct Bill Lazor? I still dont like Philbin as a HC.

Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller hopes to thrive in Bill Lazor&new offense -
Players that will outplay their current ADP: Toby Gerhart is currently being taken as the 30th running back in drafts. I'd take Gerhart over a lot of people. Steven Jackson, Joique Bell, Ben Tate, Shane Vereen, Stevan Ridley, Ryan Mathews, Bishop Sankey, Ray Rice are all guys I'd draft behind Gerhart. Jeremy Maclin is currently being drafted as the 27th wide receiver in drafts. I realize this is because of health, but in the offense he is in, if he is healthy he has top-15 potential. I'm willing to take a risk on Maclin this year. Mike Wallace is being drafted as the 34th wide receiver in drafts. Bill Lazor is going to be moving him around on the field and will give him some more favorable matchups. A lot of people are worried about the inconsistency but he will be more than a deep threat this season. Ladarius Green is being drafted as the 18th tight end in drafts. Green is a candidate to double his stats this season. I don't know about what to expect from Gates, but the Chargers need another wide out, ou ...

Miami's putrid offense, which already got a new coordinator in Bill Lazor, and a new starting tailback in Knowshon Moreno
Joe Philbin is a good head coach, however...i think most of the new strategies were designed by coordinators Bill Lazor and Kevin Coyle...
Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey and Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin Hickey are speaking to media. Dennis Hickey: When calls are made you consider it, but we had pre-determined plan. James was targeted player we really thought would help us. Hickey: Ryan Tannehill is excited about having another OT, a quality OT with 36 inch arms that can really pass protect and is a talented athlete. Hickey: When you talk about trading you take into account what may happen -- what other teams have visited, worked out. Joe Philbin: When Bill Lazor came in we talked about specifics -- size, arm length. We all felt we has ability to pass block 1-on-1 against DEs Philbin: We felt he was a good scheme fit in the offense. Philbin on Dallas Thomas: He got reps at guard and tackle last year, made a lot of progress... he gives us some flexibility. Philbin said there was no "great revelation" about James, just fit the bill on and off the field. Philbin: We like James' durability, played 49 games in one of best conferences, got better as ...
Bill Lazor improved the dolphins offense in a glimpse...already had a great defense...next season will be remarkable.
Miami Dolphins & new OC Bill Lazor (1 yr removed from take OT w/ No. 19 pick, but it's not Morgan Moses. Instead Tenn's Ju'Wuan James.
I bet loves the Dolphins' new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor.
Still blows my mind every time I see bill lazor is the new OC in Miami... And dude had the nerve to bet me they'd be good this year 😂😂😂😂
Funny how UVA fired Bill Lazor 2 years ago and now he's an NFL coordinator, smh
Bill Lazor can turn Tannehill into an elite QB.. Look what he did to Nick Foles.

This Bill Lazor guy is gonna change the Dolphins offense, I feel it
Bill Lazor is a cool name, especially if he was a QB
Pretty cool Bill Lazor left UVA to go to my favorite NFL team

A year from now.. Will they regret not going after Manziel with Bill Lazor as OC
Morgan Moses is big, has a long reach, did well at the Sr. Bowl, and has already played for Bill Lazor. He's a plug and play RT.
Missed this piece. Nice work by Seth Fisher of on WCO. Agree w/the personnel concerns, especially at WR.
I HONESTLY have no clue what Bill Lazor's offense will look like. That means I don't know if Tannehill will thrive in it. You never know.
It's really hard to predict 2014 for the Dolphins for two reasons: Dennis Hickey & Bill Lazor.
Bill Lazor on Morgan Moses from 2010: "I don't know that people understand how hard it is, and what an unbelievable job Morgan Moses.
"We're excited about that group," Dennis Hickey said about the quarterbacks, who began to learn Bill Lazor's offense last week.

Receiver Mike Wallace said new offensive coordinator Bill Lazor x92;s schemes will be better s
Mike Wallace said Tannehill has texted him eight or nine times because he's excited about Bill Lazor's offense.
The Dolphins couldn't get away from the stink and scandal of the 2013 season fast enough. The team hired a new general manager (Dennis Hickey), offensive coordinator (Bill Lazor), and signed 10 players to help remake a flawed roster. Will that be enough to contend in the AFC? It's important to remember that, despite all the drama around them, Miami came within one game of a playoff berth last season. There's no reason to think they can't take the next step. Recapping Dolphins' offseason moves Key re-signings Key arrivals Key departures CB Brent Grimes OT Branden Albert CB Nolan Carroll DT Randy Starks CB Cortland Finnegan S Chris Clemons DT Earl Mitchell DT Paul Soliai RB Knowshon Moreno What's next » O-line overhaul: It took a year, but the Dolphins located their replacement for Jake Long. Branden Albert instantly upgrades the protection on Ryan Tannehill's blindside. Jonathan Martin was shipped out of town and Richie Incognito is out of the picture (where he should stay). UNDER THE RADAR SIGNING THAT MAY HAVE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT. With all that has gone on recently with the hiring of Dennis Hickey and Bill Lazor there is one coaching addition that needs to be noted. That is the hiring of John Benton who comes over from the Houston Texans. He has taken the post of assistant offensive line coach. From 2006-13 he was in charge of one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Houston's offense ranked in the top five for three consecutive seasons from 2008-10. The line helped Arian Foster lead the league in 2012. Before coaching the line in Houston he did the same job with the Rams for a year. We will have to wait to see if this is a sign that Jim Turners job is in jeopardy, but for now any assistance can only be welcomed. Hopefully he will help to improve the line play because Ryan Tannehill can't take another beating like he did last season. It is more than likley he will be helping 4 new linemen gel as a unit because the only player who is safe is Mike Pouncey.
The Eagles have hired Bill Musgrave as quarterbacks coach to replace Bill Lazor, who left to become the Miami Dolphins’ offensive coordinator. The team also announced that Mike Dawson has been promoted to assistant defensive line coach and Michael Clay has been named defensive quality control coach.
Dan Marino on if surprised taking while to name GM. "No, it's an important position." Marino on GM: "I think people should just be patient. I'm sure they'll figure it out when the time is right." Marino on GM search: "There's a lot of cases, u look around the league, not just the they take their time and they have patience picking the right people they believe should be in that position." Mike Sherman was an assistant coach at Pittsburgh when Dan Marino was there. Marino on Dolphins OC change: "I've always liked Mike. It's just a business where sometimes it just changes. He'll be fine." Jeff Ireland at Dan Marino WalkAbout Autism. Declined to answer question about reported dissension inside franchise. Ireland said of time with Dolphins he "had a great 6 years. I met some amazing people, amazing players." Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill on new OC Bill Lazor: "I met him & first impressions are great. He seems like a great guy."
This is interesting: Andrew Abramson has been told Dolphins HC Joe Philbin wanted to trade for Branden Albert last year but Jeff Ireland said the Dolphins would be fine with Jonathan Martin at LT. No one from the Dolphins coaching staff is in Mobile,AL for the Senior Bowl. A lot of people were wondering if new Dolphins OC Bill Lazor was in attendance. There are Dolphins scouts in attendance. But no coaches. Assistant GM Brian Gaine is the top guy at the Senior Bowl. Joe Philbin did not come to the Senior Bowl in his first season -- he had just been hired and was moving, etc. He was in attendance last year. People in the Cleveland Browns organization believe the Dolphins will hire Ray Farmer. One called it "almost definite." But Stephen Ross, of course, is unpredictable.
Bill Lazor said he's excited to work with Ryan Tannehill and has seen him a little in some cross over film study.
So Shady predicts 3 SBs for the Eagles. I guess this means that the Eagles are doomed from here on out. Bill Lazor (old QB coach) is the new OC in Miami, but Tom Gamble is staying put. Kiper has a Mock Draft up, I don't have my Insider access anymore, but he has Manziel going to the Texans and Bridgewater going to the Vikings. Bortles went somewhere in between. He has the Eagles taking a WR from FSU, Kelvin Benjamin (6'5, 234. Yes please). Clayton Kershaw signs a 7 year, 215 million dollar deal with the Dodgers. Good for him, he is a freak of nature. Meanwhile, the Phils signed Ronny Cedeno. Hold me back. Nerlens Noel is cleared to resume basketball related activities and could see the floor in about 4-6 weeks. I approve this, as long as the Sixers trade away Thad, ET and Hawes before then. He is currently just under 225, but if he can get to 240, that would be swell. And despite having the 3rd worst record in the NBA, they are only 3 games out of the 8th seed. And Boston has acquired the Six ...
The Vikings were granted permission to interview Browns' offensive coordinator Norv Turner for the same position, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Dolphins' offensive coordinator Bill Lazor is "excited" to work with Ryan Tannehill -- "I see a lot of ability, physical ability." Percy Harvin is not practicing today for the Seahawks (concussion), he is to meet with his doctors in the afternoon. -Ryan
Bill Lazor wasn't snagged b/c of Chip's influence. He was picked up b/c of his west coast off experience. Familiar w/ Philbin's offense.
On his way up the ladder, new OC Bill Lazor worked under Dan Reeves, Joe Gibbs, Mike Holmgren, Jim Mora Jr. and Chip Kelly.

Eagles QB situation. (My opinion). -Pudgey In this post, I'm not bashing Vick, I'm sitting here hoping he show flashes of 2010 brilliance if he does start. But that being said, I believe Vick isn't the answer for the Eagles moving onto next season. I ultimately believe we have the future on the roster, which could possibly be the potential in both Nick Foles and Matt Barkley. Vick hasn't started a full 16 season for over a decade and god for bid Vick has another injury if he does start, but the chances are very high. In this case, one of those QBs could possibly start and take over Vick jobs if he does fall down to injuries -- which has been hunting him his whole career, even under a top 10 OL. I simply want the future to start immediately. You may say our future is in 2014 draft, but Nick Foles showed major potential under a putrid Offensive Line, even having better stats than Vick. And Matt Barkley? Not to long ago he was a potential 1st round pick approx. 2 years ago. Bill Lazor has been raving about B ...
