I’d like to make it clear that, although I’m a registered Democrat, this is not a Democratic Party forum, otherwise the name of the group would be Liberal Democrats Taking Our Country Back. Liberals can be Democrats but Democrats are not always liberals. We have Green Party members in this group as well as independent liberals. If members of the Peace & Freedom Party or any other liberal political party requested to join, they would be welcome here. I am a registered Democrat only because at this time there is no other political party which I feel can run electable candidates for office. Yes, by not voting for those candidates it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, but, if Democrats like Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Alan Grayson, Sherrod Brown, Howard Dean, Raúl Grijalva, Barbara Lee and Keith Ellison (arguably among the farthest to the Left in the Democratic Party but there are also a quite a few others) would break off and form their own political party, I’d join them in a heartbeat. The ...
Will someone please tell Organizing for America that I have zero desire to meet Barack Obama? To be honest; I'd rather meet Elizabeth Warren or Wendy Davis or Keith Ellison or Bernie Sanders. Always wanted to shake hands with Henry Waxman but I think I've missed the boat on that.
Today's news from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.): House Passes Budget: The House on Thursday approved a budget bill. The 332-94 vote sent the measure to the Senate, where Sens. Bernie Sanders and Tom Harkin are undecided because the agreement does not include emergency unemployment benefits, according to The Hill. It is unsure that enough Senate Republicans will vote for the budget bill and avoid a government shutdown. Sanders also was disappointed that the measure fails to end corporate tax breaks and subsidies, like one that Rep. Keith Ellison mentioned on MSNBC. “Sen. Bernie Sanders and I have found $110 billion over ten years with of giveaway loopholes to the fossil fuel industry.” Community Health Centers: Sen. Sanders met last Thursday with physicians and administrators at the Gifford Medical Center. Its designation as a community health center makes it eligible for hundreds of thousands of federal dollars, The Herald of Randolph reported. “We’re excited at what you’re doing,” Sophie Kasimo ...

Today's news from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.): Don't Cut Social Security: With eyes now turning toward a new budget committee, some liberals are worried about President Obama's proposal to cut Social Security. "The president is wrong on this issue, and I hope he rethinks it." Sen. Bernie Sanders, member of the new budget committee, told The Wall Street Journal and KPAM-AM in Portland, Ore. "The president is about to run into a major base problem if he tries to do this," said Rep. Keith Ellison, co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, referring to using the new formula, the chained consumer-price index, to determine benefits. "My advice to him is: Don't do it." Sanders Calls Out Deficit Hypocrites: Sen. Sanders on Saturday offered a glimpse of how he might tackle the budget. "The hypocrisy is extraordinary. When it comes to Medicaid, we just can't afford to provide health insurance to our children [but] when it comes to going to a war that we never should have gotten into [in Iraq], no problem ...
Photo Charles Dharapak/AP A number of Republicans are trying to distance themselves from Sen. Ted Cruz, who is willing to tie up the Senate for 21 consecutive hours to protect the soaring profits of the health insurance industry. But the vast majority of Republicans are on the same page as this wacko bird when it comes to Obamacare. And tonight on "The Ed Show" at 5pET (4pCT/3pMT/2pPT), Ed Schultz will not let them get away with it! Ed also debunks the drumbeat of lies about the Affordable Care Act by the likes of Sen. John Barrasso and Fox News host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, calls out AIG's CEO for comparing criticism of bonus payments with lynchings and radio host Sandy Rios, who is using the massacre in Kenya to revive the birther hoax. And of course, Ed will answer your questions. Here's tonight's guest list:Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT)Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN)Dr. James Peterson, Director of Africana Studies and Associate Professor of English at Lehigh UniversityDr. Corey Hebert, Professor, LSU ...
As has been suggested today, "We constantly complain about Congress - justifiably - but it is easy to lose sight of the good people in office, who are struggling to do right by us all. I want to make a list of people in Congress whom we trust and admire. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Tammy Duckworth, Maria Cantwell, Patty Murray, Mark /Tom Udall, Tom Harkin, Al Franken, Kirsten Gillibrand, Sherrod Brown, Ron Wyden, Jeff Merkley, Patrick Leahy, Joe Kennedy, Ed Markey, Keith Ellison, Alan Grayson, Adam Smith, Jim Mcdermott (yeah, he is crazy but his votes are good.) Anybody should be taken off this list or added to it?"
. I have asked several . Keith Ellison, Rep. Garamendi, Tim Ryan, Bernie Sanders, Ed Schultz. No answer. Why is that?
