I wonder if everyone is following the news from the Broadway Awards season that is ramping up at the moment. Word just came through that The Fred Astaire Awards (which are exclusively to honour achievements in dance each year) are giving their Outstanding Achievement in the Preservation of Musical Theatre Award to "legendary dancer and dance instructor Luigi"! They say, "Born Eugene Louis Faccuito in Steubenville, Ohio and nicknamed Luigi from Gene Kelly, as a dancer he appeared in over 40 films including An American in Paris, Annie Get Your Gun, On the Town, Singin' in the Rain, The Band Wagon and White Christmas. The exercise routine he created for his own rehabilitation after a devastating accident became the world's first complete technique for learning jazz dance. His students have included Liza Minnelli, Ben Vereen, Tony Roberts and Susan Stroman. " We could add, "and Pounder". Some nice timing, hey? I reckon she'd be delighted.
agrees with Bruno from DWTS that Corbin Blue is the love child of Fred Astaire and Ben Vereen. He is amazing.
h/t Billy Wondertwins McClain The Civil Rights Movement,Abraham Lincoln,Sammy Davis Jr,Dr. Cornel West,Michael Jackson,Nicholas Brothers,Gene Kelly & Fred Astaire,Berry Brothers,Cab Calloway,Frank Sinatra,Nat King Cole,Martin Luther King jr,Malcolm X,McFadden Brothers,The Oscars,The Tony Awards,The NAACP Awards,The Hines Brothers,Ben Vereen are the reasons why we wear the Black & White attire with the tie or the bow-tie. There's a deep message behind the choice of clothing we decide to wear. The above men stood, fought and went through much to become the men they are. Their choice of clothing was not just a material thing,it was a symbol. It's not a "Color of the man" issue,it's a "Point of the man" statement. The Bow-tie/Tie has been our attire for decades,it's not sudden decision due to Justin Timberlake new cd(nothing against JT-he's a great artist). Just had to clarify that. Wondertwins :)
