The Beaver County Times is a daily newspaper published in Beaver, Pennsylvania, United States. The Times is a direct descendant of many of Beaver County's newspapers, starting with the Minerva, first published in 1807, and generally believed to have been the county's first newspaper.
Now that the Marlins have gotten older and worse by signing Garrett Jones, the smarter teams are coming out of the woodwork in pursuit of Logan Morrison. FOXSports.com’s Jon Morosi says both the Pirates and Rays have had conversations regarding the first baseman. John Perotto of the Beaver County Times reports that the Pirates and Marlins have talked about a 2-for-1 that would send the versatile Josh Harrison and a second player to Miami for Morrison. Ironically, that would essentially make Morrison the replacement for Jones in Pittsburgh.
From my good pal/mentor in the Beaver County Times: "The Pirates have little interest re-signing first baseman Justin Morneau."

I think it's time to boycott the Beaver County Times! The Pittsburgh Post Gazette has more online Beaver County news than the Beaver County Times has. The Beavercountian.com also has more free info than The Times. The only thing I ever read in The Times is the obituaries. I think it's a crime that The Times charges, on avg. $300/day to publish 1 single obituary, then charge to read it! Anybody want to share their password for The Times? If I was a paid subscriber, I would share mine with everybody!
Im suprised no one has started a Beaver County Times boycott...since they now want you to pay to read full articles online!
Omg that was supposed to say Beaver County Times.

CommonDreams January 25, 2013 More Threats From Fracking: Radioactive Waste Pennsylvania's DEP begins study on radioactivity from oil, gas development; follows other studies showing high levels of radium, boron - Andrea Germanos, staff writer The controversial drilling practice known as fracking is under renewed scrutiny, this time for producing radioactive waste. Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection announced Thursday it was embarking on a year-long study of radioactivity in by-products from oil and natural gas development. But findings and any action from the study may come too little for people like Portage, Pennsylvania resident Randy Moyer, who is suffering from a flurry of health problems he believes are the result of radiation exposure from his work transporting fracking wastefluids. Pennsylvania's Beaver County Times reports: Moyer said he began transporting brine, the wastewater from gas wells that have been hydraulically fractured, for a small hauling company in August 2011. He ...

Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton believes he can play for two more years, Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times reports. He'd prefer to finish his career with the Steelers. But he also understands the business side of football. If the Steelers don’t re-sign him, Hampton will sign with the highest bidder as an unrestricted free agent. “I want to play, and if someone wants me to play for them, I’m going to play," Hampton said. "That’s just the way it is.” Hampton, 35, realizes that Sunday’s game against the Browns could be his last with the Steelers. “I definitely want to continue to play, and I definitely want to be here. But it’s a business," Hampton said. "Whatever happens, happens. I don’t have any control of that. All I can control is what I do on the field.” “No question, I can see myself playing somewhere else,” he said. “But I definitely would not want to go anywhere else. Why would I want to do that?”

I think everyone should boycott the Beaver County Times - my daughter contacted Mike Bires via email on Nov. 3 to send someone to cover the Hopewell Midget football game on Nov, 4 which was the championship game - Mr. Bires contacted her back on Nov. 5 no one was available to cover the game - what other sports were there on Sunday Nov. 4 other the Steeler game - and that for a fee of $25 they would print a story on the game if someone submitted it! This is BS! I submitted a letter to the editor about this and they have completely ignored me! They missed a great game and tribute to Josh Nicol, the little boy who from Beaver who was killed by a freight train, as all the football players wore Josh's number on the back of their helmets and the cheerleaders wore pblack ribbons, the Beaver County Times completely ignores our youth unless you have $25 to spare!

FREEDOM, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man who apparently shot a young relative after mistaking her costume for a skunk has been ordered to stand trial on assault and reckless endangerment charges. Thomas Grant waived a preliminary hearing before a Beaver County magistrate on Thursday. Police say the girl was in a black costume with a white feather or tassel on her hat during a Halloween party at a New Sewickley home on Oct. 20. The Beaver County Times reports investigators said the girl was lying face-down and motionless during a game of hide-and-seek when she was shot. Grant's attorney called the shooting a "tragic accident" and says his client's first concern is the girl's well-being. He says he'll ask to have the charges dismissed. The girl is recovering from her wounds.

An interesting letter from a PSU grad to Mark Madden, Seven months prior to when the Sandusky scandal broke, radio talk show host Mark Madden of WXDX-FM in Pittsburgh, Pa., penned an article on April 3, 2011 for the Beaver County Times. In the piece, Madden focused on the crucial 1998 incident, observing, “Did Penn State not make an issue of Sandusky’s alleged behavior in 1998 in exchange for him walking away from the program at an age premature for most coaches? Did Penn State’s considerable influence help get Sandusky off the hook?” He continued, “In 1999, Penn State was rid of Sandusky. His reputation was unblemished, which allowed him to continue running a charitable foundation that gave him access to underage males [and] be a volunteer assistant with a high school football team, thus gaining access to underage males.” Strangely, upon Sandusky’s “retirement,” he never coached at another college despite undoubtedly being recognized as one of the country’s premier assistants. On Nove ...

Can someone out there answer a question for me? After seeing the Beaver County Times on Friday? Sunday?, we all know that Obama was in Beaver. You know he stopped at Kretchmar's and that he left with an Apple pie, dozen of Chocolate Chip cookies and some other treats. Tell me how come the rules that his wife Michelle, (a.k.a. "Food Czar") wants and in some cases has implemented in our schools, when it comes to no fat, low fat, Tofu, doesn't apply to her husband? My child comes home at the end of the day starving because the food that they are serving is down right awful and she just won't eat it. My daughter is not a picky eater. She eats almost anything. My daughter would give her right arm to have at least one of those cookies that Barack bought (or did he?) put into her lunch that is served at school. The government should not have such control in dictating to a school as to what they can serve. The kids in my daughters district literally leave school hungry and run to the Wendy's or McDonalds to get ...
