Guardiola: Torres perfect for Atletico The coach lauded Diego Simeone's decision to bring the former club captain back to the Vicente Calderon and believes they pose a threat to Bayern's Champions League chances By Miles Chambers Jan 16, 2015 23:36:00 Former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola believes that Atletico Madrid have hit the jackpot by bringing Fernando Torres back to the Vicente Calderon. Torres left La Liga for Liverpool in 2007, one year before Guardiola famously took the reins at Camp Nou, and returned earlier this month on loan from AC Milan having flopped at San Siro and Chelsea before that. Football pundits and fans were split over whether Torres would burden another club with his lack of goals, but he stunned arch-rivals Real Madrid on Thursday by scoring a double to knock the holders out of the Copa Del Rey at the last-16 stage. Guardiola, who now coaches Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, believes that the Spain international is perfectly suited to life under Diego Simeone's wing in Madrid. ...
INTO THE CHRISTMAS BREAK... D I D. Y O U. K N O W? * Real Madrid are going into the Christmas break with one-point lead, & a game in hand, at the top of La Liga. * A Spanish record run of 22 successive wins. Two trophies already in the bag (European Super Cup and Club World Cup). * Barcelona have bagged 41 goals in 16 matches - at an average of almost three per game. * Ronaldo has scored only two fewer La Liga goals than Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar combined this season. * Real Madrid had a100% record in the Champions League group stage. * Cristiano Ronaldo have scored 25 league goals in 14 matches this season. * The key to Madrid's excellent start is Carlo Ancelotti managing to do something that neither of his Bernabeu predecessors Jose Mourinho or Manuel Pellegrini could do. That's knitting together a dressing room packed with the world's most expensive players and, possibly, the world's most inflated egos. * Bayern Munich have taken 45 points from their 17 matches (a Bundesliga record), and only con ...

WANTED! WANTED!! WANTED!!! Diego Costa wanted by Spain despite fitness doubt MADRID (AP) — Striker Diego Costa was called up by Spain on Friday for European Championship qualifying despite the fitness concerns of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. Costa was chosen in the 23-man squad for Euro 2016 qualifiers at Slovakia on Thursday and at Luxembourg on Oct. 12. Mourinho complained that his team's top scorer was being worn down by too many games for club and country. Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque defended his selection, saying "he is fine, and he is playing all his games." "If we had thought he wasn't in playing condition we wouldn't have forced him. In any given moment something can happen to a player in a game or in practice, but we have never forced anyone to play. Didier Drogba has returned to training with Chelsea ahead of a possible first European outing with the club since scoring the winning goal in the 2012 Champions League final. Drogba's first spell with the Blues ended with him scoring the decisive penalty which defeated Bayern Munich in the final at the Allianz Arena. He has now given manager Jose Mourinho a big boost by returning from injury sooner than expected, showing no ill effects as he trained with the Chelsea squad at their Cobham base on Tuesday. Drogba rejoined Chelsea this summer after a spell at Galatasaray but missed Saturday's win over Swansea because of an ankle injury which was expected to keep him out of the Group G match against Schalke on Wednesday. Mourinho is likely to start with in-form Diego Costa up front at Stamford Bridge but Drogba may well gain a place on the bench. Watch Chelsea play Schalke live on Sky Sports 1 from 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Even without AC Milan and Manchester United, 10-times winners between them, in this year's draw, there is predictability to what will eventuate. Mail Online report that Khedira is set to sign a four-year contract with the North London club following his exploits at the World Cup, which Germany won on Sunday. 27-year-old Khedira had to withdraw from the game just before kick off because of an injury picked up in the warm up, though his absence didn't stop Mario Gotze from netting an extra-time winner against Argentina. GOOD MORNING CHELSEA FAMILY Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claimed on Tuesday that Chelsea had sent an agent to talk to Serie A Club AS Roma about a possible summer transfer. To make matters more complicated they also say that after having their first bid refused, Manchester City have returned with €38m. In goal is Atletico's on-loan star Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian, who is yet to reach a decision on whether he will return full-time to parent club Chelsea for next term, secured five clean sheets in 12 matches in the tournament and was a model of consistency in Atleti's surprise march to the final. Our back four begins with Branislav Ivanovic , who was part of an exemplary Blues defence which kept seven clean sheets prior to their 3-1 semi-final second leg loss to Atletico. The Serbian was a crucial cog in Jose Mourinho's solid side and even managed to create six goalscoring chances from full-back. In central defence, Sergio Ramos earns a place after some colossal performances in the latter stages of the tournament. The Spaniard was a rock at the back for Madrid, particularly in the semi-final against Bayern Munich, against whom he scored an impressive double in Germany. That moment when football fans around the globe irrespective of their clubs they love but notably Real Madrid fans start branding Jose Mourinho a flop in football management because Carlo Ancelloti succeeded in delivering the Tenth Holy Grail (La Decima) for the Los Merengues where Jose Mourinho failed to in his three year quest at Santiago Bernabeu. But what many have failed to notice or must have remained ignorant of is Jose Mourinho also did a little to help Real Madrid lift the La Decima last night... 1. He stopped Pep Guardiola's Barcelona dominance. 2. He took them to three consecutive semi-finals when they always fail in the early knockout stages prior to Mourinho's appointment. 3. He made Cristiano Ronaldo better 4. He instilled that winning mentality they lacked for some few years back. **You can attest to the fact that this Dortmund and Bayern Munich team they eliminated on their route to the finals were not that strong to the ones Mourinho met during his reign...**

Chelsea could be close to a deal to sign Mario Mandzukic after he was reportedly left out of Bayern Munich's Cup final squad. Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola is understood to have dropped the Croatian striker in the wake of rumours that he could be heading to Stamford Bridge this summer. German newspaper Bild reported yesterday that Mandzukic could be a Chelsea player within days and today SportBild claim that Guardiola said to Mandzukic: "I wish you every success with your new club." The ex-Barcelona boss - who has never seen eye to eye with Blues boss Jose Mourinho - left the player out of his squad to face Borussia Dortmund in Berlin on Saturday. Guardiola has told the press that there's nothing more to it than a tactical decision to use another player but SportBild say they have an inside line at the club. Chelsea are believed to have been in talks with Bayern this week about a possible deal for David Luiz and the Croatian striker's name could well have come up as a makeweight in the proposal or just ...

VOLUME ONE FOOTBALL LESSON I already told a few friends that the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Semi Final Match would prove to be the greatest acid test for Jose Mourinho and his team this current season. I was very worried when 'The Special One' was happy to get a barren draw during the first leg at the Vicente Calderon. On Tuesday Night when Real Madrid outclassed and took Bayern Munich to the cleaners at the Allianz Arena, I knew Diego Simeone would also be tempted to take his chances. And boy, he did a clean and excellent job! It was almost a no-contest immediately after the penalty conceded by Samuel Eto'o. Atletico's 40-year wait to get to the final has finally ended. What are the lessons inherent in that match and how can we apply them to life? DON'T SEND OUT YOUR BEST PLAYERS ON LOAN Or at least be frugal about it. Chelsea currently has about 27 players on loan to other clubs- among whom are Romelu Lukaku who has scored 26 Premier League goals till date between spells at West Brom and Ev ...
Real Madrid ROAR POWERFULLY INTO FINAL Real Madrid blew Bayern Munich away to reach the UEFA Champions League final with a 4-0 second leg victory which secured a 5-0 aggregate success. Sergio Ramos took advantage of some woeful marking to head home twice from set pieces in the opening 20 minutes before Cristiano Ronaldo put the finishing touch to a devastating counter-attack in the 34th minute in a blistering opening half from the Spanish giants. Ronaldo added a fourth with a late free-kick and the only downside for Carlo Ancelotti's side, who will face either city rivals Atletico Madrid or Chelsea and former boss Jose Mourinho in the Lisbon final next month, was the needless booking for midfielder Xabi Alonso which rules him out of the showpiece. Pep Guardiola's reigning European Champions had dominated possession in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu last week, only to leave Spain with a 1-0 deficit after Karim Benzema struck. Any hopes they had of working their way back into the tie were obliterated by ...
The Dream Of La Decima is on for Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti has succeeded where Jose Mourinho failed as Real Madrid coach. Tonight, Bayern Munich were battered and destroyed before home fans at the Allianz Arena. Pep Guardiola has failed to re-enact the brilliance of Jupp Heynkes as his dream of a treble this season was shattered by a resilient Real Madrid. The focus now shifts to Stamford Bridge where another Madrid team will attempt to break traffic against a Chelsea team that will fill the bridge with luxurious buses hoping to qualify for the finals via penalties. There can't be a better final than the Madrid derby between Atletico and Real. I love this game and will like to see the game flow.
Pep Guardiola can only watch or look and drink bottle water. It clearly shows that in modern football and coaching techniques he still has a lot to learn. Hence he can never be compare to Jose Mourinho, Carlos Ancelloti and even Arsene Wenger. Pep Guardiola is just fortunate to work with group of talented players both in Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Chelsea played a weakened team at Liverpool in 2012 with Champions League final on the horizon Jose Mourinho may get his wish to play a weakened team against Liverpool this Sunday, but it's not the first time Chelsea have rung the changes at Anfield. The Blues boss wants to rest players ahead of the Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday with the Premier League title almost out of reach. But, two years ago, Chelsea went to Anfield and fielded a below-par side, just as the Portuguese manager wants to do this weekend. Having beaten Liverpool 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday May 5, 2012, Chelsea had little to play for in the league and had a Champions League final looming against Bayern Munich a fortnight later. Roberto Di Matteo's side visited Anfield three days after beating Liverpool at Wembley and made eight changes to their starting line-up. Only John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic and Ramires survived from the cup-winning side, and Liverpool took advantage ...
Bayern Munich set to land David Luiz this summer with Jose Mourinho preferring Arjen Robben Chelsea return instead of cash
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could be pitted against former club Real Madrid in the draw for the semi-finals of the Champions League, which takes place on Friday. Chelsea's dramatic victory over Paris St Germain and Real's narrow aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals earned both a place in the last four of Europe's premier club competition, where they are joined by Barcelona's conquerors Atletico Madrid and holders Bayern Munich, who beat Manchester United. Mourinho, 51, left Madrid in acrimonious circumstances in the summer - having led them to the 2011/12 La Liga title during his three-year reign - to rejoin Chelsea, who he led to two Premier League titles and an FA Cup victory during a successful spell from 2004 to 2007. The Portuguese has faced Real four times in Europe as a manager, all during his time as Porto boss, and has never beaten them, losing three of the matches and drawing the other. However, that draw - 1-1 in Madrid - came in a group game during Porto's run to winning M ...
This is getting over the limit. Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and Real Madrid are in the semi finals. I don't care about the draw. If its Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, then this derby, as you know will be AWESOME. If its Bayern and Real, then the clash between the two strongest teams in Europe can't be boring. If its Atletico and Chelsea then, its teamwork vs tactics. If its Bayern and Chelsea then, imagine the clash of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho. If its Real and Chelsea, Mourinho will certainly try his best for his esteem. If its Bayern and Atletico, it will surely be out of the world. That is why I say Football is better then Cricket. I want Real and Atletico in the final at Lisbon.May the best team win. Barcelona should have been here but Atletico deserved this place for they playing better than any other team in the La Liga.
It'll be nice to have two English teams and two Spanish teams in the CL semis. But I'm looking forward to seeing Chelsea vs Real Madrid and Barcelona vs Bayern Munich, where Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola would face their former clubs.
AZPILICUETA: PAST LAST EIGHT There is a range of Champions League experience throughout the Chelsea squad aiming to overcome Paris Saint-Germain tonight. There are those who have made it to the pinnacle and lifted the famous 'cup with the big ears', and there are those, as Jose Mourinho has emphasised, who are new this season to the knockout stages of this tournament. There is also Cesar Azpilicueta who is not fresh to the Champions League quarter-finals but is determined to make it on to the next step for the first time. In the Spaniard's two seasons in France at PSG's big rivals Marseille, the club progressed to the second stage although having played in the group games in the first campaign, a knee injury meant Azpilicueta was absent when they were knocked out by Manchester United in the Round of 16. In 2011/12 however he was there for an impressive run through a tough group and then beyond Inter Milan in the last 16 before meeting Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. 'We did well in the two years I wa ...

Chelsea take on PSG, which will see tow of the biggest egos in world football clash in ther form of Jose Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while Borussia Dortmund take on Real Madrid. Barcelona will face Atletico Madrid in an all-Spanish affair - that is a decent draw.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is the best-paid coach in world football, according to a new list released on Tuesday. French weekly sports publication France Football have published their annual rich list, which shows Mourinho is now out-earning his coaching nemesis, Bayern Munich's Pep Guardiola – who has the second-largest coaching salary in the world game. The Blues boss – who earns a cool €17m a year – had suggested he took a pay cut to return to Stamford Bridge last summer, but that assertion has been dashed by the latest index. Arsene Wenger is the next best-paid Premier League boss, receiving little over half that of Mourinho, while former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is enjoying a bumper pay day at Galatasaray, having left the Etihad last summer. Mancini squeezes into the top three, edging ahead of Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti on €14m a year. Here's the good news for Chelsea: Who they could draw... written by Dan Coombs 7 hours ago 5 2 1 2 Ben Sutherland Chelsea finished top of their group, and will now hope to reap the rewards in the Champions League knockout phase. The mission set by Jose Mourinho was simple, make sure you keep a clean sheet and finish top, and that was what they did against Steaua with a 1-0 win. Finishing in first place in the group was absolutely essential. Arsenal ended up second in their group and their options are: Barcelona, Bayern Munich, PSG, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid. Ouch. article continues below Chelsea won't have an easy task, but certainly easier. Here are the five teams they could face: Olympiakos Greek side Olympiakos will be the side everyone wants, who sneaked through on goal difference eliminating Benfica in the process. How Messi almost ended up at Chelsea London - Lionel Messi could have signed for Chelsea earlier in the year after adidas offered to pay half of his £210 million (R3.28bn) buy-out clause, according to Barcelona sports paper Mundo Deportivo. Messi, who joined Barcelona as a 13-year-old after the club paid for expensive hormone therapy treatment without which he would never have made the grade as a professional, has always had a strong emotional bond with the club. But, reports Mundo Deportivo, adidas saw the opportunity to prise him away from Barcelona - and effectively from Nike who sponsor Barça - and move him to one of their three main European clubs: Chelsea, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. Messi’s representatives were made aware of adidas’ proposal and they informed the club, who were also told Messi had no intention of leaving. Even if adidas had stumped up the £105m suggested, Chelsea would still have had to find the other £105m and coach Jose Mourinho would have had to convince a player with ...
Reports suggest that Chelsea are willing to part with Ba,as they plan an audacious bid to beat Bayern Munich to Robert Lewandowski. Doubts about Lewandowski's proposed free transfer to Bayern at the end of the season have arisen recently,&Chelsea hope to capitalise by making Dortmund an offer they can't refuse for the Polish striker in January. Getting Ba off the Stamford Bridge books will be key to that move,&although Chelsea would remain reluctant to sell to a rival in Arsenal, both West Ham&Spanish side Valencia would happily take the 28yrs-old on board. It is thought that a £7M bid would be enough for Jose Mourinho to let Ba leave on a permanent basis.
Some funny football quotes from last weekend; "Steven proved he is a top, top, top, top player!" Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers after Steven Gerrard played his part in the 4-1 thrashing of West Brom - days after Sir Alex Ferguson claimed the Reds skipper was not a top, top player in his autobiography. “This is the drama of the last-minute goal. I beat City in the last minute in Madrid and destroyed my trousers when I slid onto the pitch. I lost in the last minute against Bayern Munich and somebody put a knife in my back and I didn't even notice.” Jose Mourinho after celebrating Chelsea’s last-gasp win over Manchester City by hugging random fans in the stand, much to the annoyance of opposite number Manuel Pellegrini. “I didn't shake his hand at the end because I didn't want to.” Looks like Mourinho is off Pellegrini’s Christmas card list. "I've got to be honest, you wouldn't want to have a fight with this fella. He’s a big ‘un…. I think we better give him an extra year on his contract ...
Chelsea made sensational £210 million move to land superstar There has been some reports which have claimed Chelsea made a sensational £210 million bid for Barcelona star Lionel Messi. It is unclear whether Jose Mourinho and Roman Abramovich would really have been willing to shell out such an amount to add Messi, even given Chelsea’s problems up front so far this season. However, Bayern Munich, where Messi’s former manager at Barca Pep Guardiola is now in charge, have a long-standing relationship with Adidas and the German’s have also been mentioned as the club that may have made the bid. The sportswear giants were thought to be willing to pay half of the fee involved to have Messi wearing an Adidas shirt at club level as well as at international level with Argentina. Messi reportedly rejected all three offers out of hand as he is happy with life in Barcelona. (Daily Express)
Germany's squad against Ireland and Sweden German coach Joachim Löw named his latest squad few days ago. And again, he ignored Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling and Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller. Here are the players who made the grade Mario Götze, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Andre Schürrle Something old, something new, two things Bayern, something blue. Bastian Schweinsteiger remains Germany's obvious defensive playmaker - if he can stay fit. His new Bayern Munich teammate Mario Götze is also just back from injury and bedding in at his new club. As for winger Andre Schürrle, he's left the Bundesliga to play with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea - but is still a regular call-up for Löw Thomas Müller and Toni Kroos Two more versatile Bayern Munich mainstays in the German side. Müller's usually considered an all-round attacking midfielder, but has recently played some time as a striker for Bayern coach Pep Guardiola. Kroos, meanwhile, brings an array of technical gifts to central midfield - two good ...

Jose Mourinho is happy with David Luiz just the way he is, according to the Brazil defender. Luiz was left out of Chelsea’s 18-man squad for Saturday’s derby win over Fulham before making a winning return to the side in Tuesday’s 2-0 League Cup triumph at Swindon. Barcelona and Bayern Munich were interested in signing the Samba Star this summer and some have suggested Luiz’s outlandish style does not fit in with Mourinho’s tactical thinking. Quizzed on whether the Chelsea boss has asked him to modify his game, Luiz said: “No. He hasn’t asked anything. He asked me to play my football at a high level, in a high intensity and attitude, just that. Like all the players. “He is a manager that wants everyone to work hard, not just David Luiz.” But asked why he didn't seem to be as automatic a pick for Mourinho, as he was for interim boss Rafael Benitez, Luiz said he was baffled. “I don’t know,” added the centre half. “I train hard every day, like I did under Rafa so I have a privilege t ...
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho stated his belief that it was in the best interest of all parties if Romelu Lukaku spent a full year with Everton. Chelsea agreed a deal with Everton in the final hours of transfer deadline day to send Lukaku to Goodison Park for the year, leaving the Blues with only three striking options. Mourinho defended his decision to allow the striker to sign the season-long loan with the Toffees amid recent criticism of his current trio of strikers, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o, and Demba Ba. None of the three strikers have been able to score this season, with the lone exception being Fernando Torres’ goal in the Uefa Super Cup against Bayern Munich. Regardless of the slow start for Chelsea’s strikers, the boss stands by his decision. “I think it’s good for Lukaku and for Chelsea if he plays every game at Everton,” Mourinho said, according to talkSPORT. Jose may feel that Lukaku, who is only 20 years old, may benefit from more starting time instead of competing with veter ...
Jose Mourinho lost like a rookie at home aka Stamford Bridge with out the likes of the great Fernando Torres, Michael Essien and Andrea Schurrle. Mourinho should build on the team that played against Bayern Munich at the Super Cup. King Torres.
No wonder we're in 6th place in EPL...Chelsea's striking line-up makes painful reading When Jose Mourinho looks at the contribution of Chelsea’s forward line ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Basle, it makes painful reading. Chelsea’s recognized strikers have spent 443 minutes on the field in five matches and scored just once. It is hardly a badge of honor for Fernando Torres, but his early strike against Bayern Munich in the European Super Cup in Prague is the only goal scored by a Chelsea forward this season. In the 225 minutes Torres has been on the pitch, Daniel Sturridge scored three winning goals for Liverpool (Stoke, Aston Villa and Manchester United) and hence Liverpool in 1st place. But Torres is not alone. Demba Ba started against Aston Villa and would have left Chelsea on loan in the Transfer Window if Romelu Lukaku had decided against a move to Everton for the rest of the season. Lukaku, who was unfortunate to miss in the penalty shootout against Bayern, made three substitut ...

Champions League Real Madrid aim to be kings of Europe again If Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, football's most expensive duo, can produce the brilliance that prompted Real Madrid to invest £166 million in, the Spanish giants could finally land their 10th European Cup this season. The 59th season of Europe's elite club competition begins on Tuesday with Bayern Munich defending their title boosted by the signing of Mario Goetze from last season's runners-up Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona looking for a fourth crown in nine seasons. The managerial landscape has changed with Alex Ferguson, in charge of more Champions League games than any other coach, having left Manchester United and Jose Mourinho having ended his spell at Real for a second stint at Chelsea. Real have replaced him with another double Champions League-winning coach in Carlo Ancelotti and the Italian's job will be to make sure new recruit Bale fits into his team. The Wales winger's world record £86 million move from Tottenham Hotspur ear ...

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho felt the best team lost and also questioned Ramires' red card against Bayern.
The thoughts of Jose Mourinho ahead of our Uefa Super Cup clash against Bayern Munich,
Chelsea are preparing a bid for Aston Villa star Christian Benteke as Jose Mourinho seeks a solution to the club's pursuit of a new striker. The returning manager has been thwarted in his attempt to sign Edinson Cavani and has thus far been unable to convince Robert Lewandowski to choose English football over a future move to Bayern Munich. Benteke fits the coach's preferred profile of a physically powerful striker capable of leading the attack alone and is more readily attainable as a result of Villa's fragile financial state. At 22, the Belgium international is attracted by the prospect of playing Champions League football and competing for the domestic title after a first Premier League season in which he scored 19 times for a club fighting relegation. With Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis refusing to back down on his demand that Cavani's €63 million release clause be met in full, the Uruguay international is near to joining Paris Saint- Germain instead. Also, aware that Borussia Dortmund would ...
Jose Mourinho is plotting Chelsea's world domination to create global reputation for the club Jose Mourinho claims Chelsea were unknown to the rest of the world before he first arrived at Stamford Bridge . And, having put Chelsea on the map, Mourinho wants to help the club build a global reputation to rival Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United. As Mourinho pointedly highlighted, Chelsea have made big strides since he first joined the club in 2004 – by winning 11 trophies to United’s nine. Mourinho starts pre-season training in his second spell as Chelsea manager at Cobham tomorrow, before flying out with his squad for their tour of Asia on Thursday. Chelsea will be mobbed in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, unlike when the club travelled to the United States after Mourinho had first arrived at Stamford Bridge. “The first time I went to the States, in 2004 with Chelsea for pre-season, the training session was open-door and there were 10 kids,” said Mourinho. “Nobody ca ...

Chelsea News! Only five blues stars are certain starters for the coming season under Jose Mourinho -Petr Cech, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard, and Oscar. Spainish wizard, Juan Mata and Brazil defender, David Luiz are not among the five. And Fernando Torres (who is wanted at the Emirate) could also be waving farewell to the Premier League this summer. Mourinho is thought to prefer Oscar in the No.10 role supporting a main striker, believing the Brazilian poses more attacking threat than Mata. This means Mourinho wil try to bring in six players before the Transfer Window closes -knowing a fee within the region of £35m from Barca for David Luiz could help fund new recruits. Brazilian star Hulk of Zenit St Petersburg, Mario Gomez of Bayern Munich and AC Milan hitman El Shaarawy are all on Mourinho's wishlist -along with Manchester City's Edin Dzeko.
It's been five months since it was announced that Pep Guardiola would replace Jupp Heynckes as Bayern Munich manager and while Heynckes was busy winning the treble, Guardiola was busy learning German. During his season-long sabbatical in New York City, Guardiola spent four hours a day learning how to speak the language once he knew the job was his. And he was finally able to show off that work during his first press conference in Munich. Though he was a bit self-conscious about it. From DW: "Forgive my German," Guardiola said in a thick Spanish accent. "I lived for a year in New York and it is not the opitmal location to learn German." [...] Guardiola was adament that it was not him who chose to go to Bayern, but the club management who picked him. "They called me," he said. Bayern Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge called Guardiola "the most successful coach in the world." Somewhere in London, Jose Mourinho's ears just perked up. He's probably also spending four hours a day learning German just so he can pla ...

Backpass, June 17 Part 1 Fernando Torres has dismissed the idea of moving to Barcelona and says he hopes new Chelsea coach, Jose Mourinho can make him one of the best strikers in the world again. In the meantime, Mourinho has described striker Fernando Torres as “so-so” and says he has not lived up to his potential at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have been pursuing strikers in the transfer market and it seems like both Torres and Demba Ba are not expected to be first choice. Highly-rated hitmen Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski are the primary targets. Cavani will cost in excess of £50m while Lewandowski, who has been told he cannot move to rivals Bayern Munich, could be procured for around £25m Torres also backed Mourinho, who is being maligned in the Spanish press after dropping national and club captain Iker Casillas from the Real Madrid side. QUESTION: What will be the best option for Chelsea, Mourinho and Torres ?

Andres Iniesta is the latest Barcelona star to launch a scathing attack on Former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, accusing him of harming the image of Spanish football. Mourinho left Los Blancos three years before his contract was due to expire after a trophyless season beset by infighting and controversy before returning to his former club Chelsea. Speaking in an interview in Sunday's edition of El Pais, Iniesta heavily criticised the Portuguese coach and the legacy he left at Real Madrid. "You just have to look at the facts," the 29- year-old midfielder said. "Yes he damaged Spanish football, in general more harm than good. "But I don't like talking about that person at all. So if you don't mind we'll leave it at that." Mourinho and Iniesta have previously feuded in the media earlier this season when the Spain international criticised the former's decision to continuously overlook goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Mourinho responded with a jibe at Barcelona's reliance on Lionel Messi: "[Iniesta] can think what ...
Barcelona midfielder Xavi believes Jose Mourinho tarnished the legacy of Real Madrid's Galacticos, insisting the outgoing manager had a negative effect on the club's "footballing philosophy". - Rigg: Real's folly of youth - Ronaldo hopeful of Real deal Xavi, who has been vocal in his disdain of Mourinho in recent years, was critical of Real Madrid's season, which saw them finish 15 points behind Barca. The Spain international hit out at Mourinho's attitude and the style of play he introduced at the Bernabeu - despite it paying dividends as Real lifted the 2011/12 La Liga title - claiming Los Blancos require a tactical overhaul if they are to return to their glory days. "I don't want people to think that I'm always attacking Mourinho, that's not my intention, but obviously I don't like the way his teams play on the pitch," the 33-year-old told Sport. It annoyed me to see them play like that as they had an idea and a concept before. [Zinedine] Zidane, Roberto Carlos - they were incredible. "They dominated e ...

Jupp Heynckes has said he will take a break from football management next season, ending speculation he will replace Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid. The 68-year-old, who will be replaced by former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola in an appointment announced by Bayern in January, won the Champions League last month as well as the Bundesliga and Cup double for an unprecedented treble by a German club. "I am still impressed with the events," a tearful Heynckes, who took over for the third time in 2011, told reporters. "From July 1 I will not take over any club here or abroad. I will recover, think about what has happened in the past weeks and months. "The last two years were intense and outstanding," said Heynckes, whose career as a coach and player stretches back to 1963, adding his team had learned a lot after just missing out on three titles last season. "I had told my wife after last year's Champions League final defeat that I would complete my contract at Bayern but not go beyond that." Heynckes led Bayern t ...

The Current Gulf In Class Between the 2 Milan Clubs Milan is a city known for many things; fashion, food and of course football. Milan may be the capital of European football, as it is home to two of the most glamorous clubs in European football, AC Milan, and FC Internazionale. But there has been one place where Inter have always failed to reach Milan’s level , European competition, with Milan winning 7 UEFA Champions League titles and being only second to Real Madrid, while Inter have just 3, with the latest coming in the 2009/10 season, after that unforgettable run of eliminating Chelsea, CSKA Moscow, and then favourites FC Barcelona, before outclassing FC Bayern Munich in the final in Madrid. There was an inevitability to Arsenals 3-1 capitulation to Bayern Munich last night, Arsenal having no recent success against big clubs on which to expect any other result. Seen in tandem with the 1-0 loss to Blackburn in the FA Cup at the weekend, Arsenal are facing an 8th successive season without a trophy unless miracle upon miracle occurs in the league. Why have Arsenal declined so much?   The highlight of being an Arsenal fan in the last 10 years must have occurred on Sunday 15th May 2004 when after a gruelling 38 league matches, Thierry Henry and then Patrick Viera responded to Paul Dickovs 26th minute opener to dispatch Leicester City and create the legend of “the Invincibles”. They finished the season on 90 points, 11 ahead of second place Chelsea.   In response, Chelsea poached the young coach from the reigning European Champions, a certain Jose Mourinho and spent approximately £90 million on Ferreira, Carvalho (from Porto), Petr Cech (Rennes), Arjen Robben and Metja Kezman (PSV), Tiago (B ...

Manchester United have no choice but to attack Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday. All season they have been outscoring opponents, and they must do so again against Madrid, who I can see scoring in both games. The last United team to win the Champions League in 2008 did so on the foundation of a rock-solid defence. They had great attackers, but they could also soak up pressure and defend leads if they had to. I don't think they can do that any more. Look at the goals they have conceded domestically. They are much better when they take the initiative and play in the opposition's half. Another advantage of taking the game to Real is that if they get on top early they can try to disrupt the crowd in the Bernabeu, who have seen their team struggle this season and are starting to turn against Jose Mourinho. This is Mourinho's last chance to win a major trophy this season, and he knows that if Real gets knocked out it will be all over for him. Where he goes next is anyone's guess, but I don't think it wil ...
Football - Premier League Paper Round: Chelsea's new move for Klopp Chelsea have settled on their first choice to take over as permanent manager, according to the Daily Telegraph: Borussia Dortmund's Juergen Klopp. The Telegraph reports that there are "serious concerns" among the Stamford Bridge hierarchy that bringing Jose Mourinho back would be a mistake, despite the fact that the Portuguese boss is said to be lobbying for a return. And with Pep Guardiola having chosen Bayern Munich for his next job, that leaves Klopp as Chelsea's "key target" with the Blues determined to make a fresh approach. That's despite the fact that he rebuffed their approaches last year, has since signed a new deal with Dortmund that runs until 2016 and is considered a shoo-in to take over as Germany coach when Joachim Loew moves on. Short of him publicly wearing a t-shirt declaring that "Roman Abramovich is a nincompoop" we're not really sure how much more he could do to signal his total lack of interest in the job. In short, d ...

Gianfranco Zola has emerged as a serious contender to become Chelsea’s next full-time boss. Although the Blues hierarchy has feared that Pep Guardiola was slipping from their grasp, the confirmation that the Catalan has opted to join Bayern Munich was still a blow to Roman Abramovich. Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp, Michael Laudrup of Swansea and Diego Simeone, whose Atletico Madrid side humiliated the West Londoners in August’s UEFA SuperCup, have all been linked with the post, the Telegraph reports. According to the Mirror, Frank Rijkaard is also available, after being sacked this week by Saudi Arabia. But with Blues fans starting to show their displeasure at interim manager Rafa Benitez, Zola will be a live option to take over in the summer when the board sits down next month to start planning the club’s future. The Watford boss has never hidden the strength of his love for Chelsea, where an astonishing six-year spell as a player saw him voted as the club’ ...

Chelsea trolled :D "What's more, this wasn't a choice for Germany over England. It was a choice for Bayern over Chelsea. That's Bayern Munich. One of the greatest clubs in history. Champions of Germany 22 times; four-time European Cup winners. A club with pedigree, history and a structure in which he can thrive. Bayern have a magnificent stadium, a superb youth structure and a board - while full of egotistical ex-players - that will give him time to put his ideas in place. Chelsea, meanwhile, are not the biggest team in their country. They aren't even the biggest team in their city. The only two clubs in England with a history to rival Bayern's are Manchester United and Liverpool, and they already have managers. Arsenal, too, might prove an attraction. But Chelsea? Why on earth would he go to Chelsea? A club with an owner for whom 'time to rebuild the squad' means 10 games. A club where he would endure massive media attention and find himself constantly measured against Jose Mourinho, a man he loathes. A ...
Pep Guardiola's snub for Roman Abramovich reveals the fatal flaw at the heart of his Chelsea Empire On the Football Association’s 150th birthday Pep Guardiola praised the English game and then kicked it where it hurts, rejecting Chelsea to join Bayern Munich. Hearts were all aflutter when he declared his love for the Premier League, then broken when he pledged his future to Bavaria. Here at the Bridge of sighs, there was no great surprise when Guardiola elected not to stand at the wrong end of Roman Abramovich’s itchy trigger finger. The Chelsea crowd have become unshockable. They have seen Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Di Matteo take a Russian bullet and have given up trying to decipher what might happen next. Only in their wildest fantasies could they have entertained the hope that Guardiola would leave his apartment off Central Park to step into such volatility. There was always a faint hope that Abramovich’s money would do the trick again. It worked with Fernando Torres, right? Chel ...
