PLAY LIKE Real Madrid In soccer it appears that whatgoes around comes around. The domination of the well-drilled tiki taka possession teams has been so expertly picked apart in recent times that counterattacking football has made a major comeback. Possession, we now know, isn’t everything.Jose Mourinho gave a master class with Inter Milan back in 2010, taking apart Louis Van Gaal’s Bayern Munich side, but nowhere has the countering technique been better executed than at Real Madrid in the past few months.First there was the resoundingwin over Barcelona in the final of the Copa Del Rey, with a galloping Balegoal that has seen him nicknamed the Road Runner. Then there was the 4-0 demolition of Bayern, the heaviest defeat their coach, Pep Guardiola, has ever endured in European football. It seems Real’s quest for a 10th European Cup trophy, La Decima, is within their grasp.would make them even more vulnerable. With the pace of Ronaldo, Di Maria andBale, Real possess a counterattacking mechanism that tr ...

Last night's result has thrown up some fascinating reaction from people around the world. Real Madrid seem to have done an act of blasphemy by putting up such a stunning performance, not just last night but throughout the Champions League and most of the La Liga season.     Football fans who are not biased fanatics of a single team... (and lets be honest there will hardly be any from Atletico since the beginning of the season) seem to have found extreme loyalty for the Los Rojiblancos. And when you think of it, the underdogs have always received that.     It was Atletico Madrid this season, BVB Dortmund the last time, Bayern Munich twice the years before. Then there was Inter Milan who went on to win it in 09-10. Liverpool with their Istanbul comeback. Porto when Mourinho came in the limelight.     And these are just a few that I could think of.     Come to think of these examples and most of the times, all that these teams end up achieving is a single successful reason. There is no increased inco ...

THREE Reasons Why Chelsea WILL Win The Champions League The semi-finalists for the Champions League are now confirmed - Chelsea will go up against one of Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid. The draw is on Friday, but whoever they get I think Chelsea will win the tournament. Here are three reasons why. 1) Jose Mourinho The Portuguese coach has vast experience across European football and knows exactly what is needed to win the competition. Mourinho won the Champions League against all odds whilst in charge of Porto, and then picked up the trophy when at Inter Milan. If there is one coach who you'd want in charge going into the Champions League semi-final it would be him. 2) Solid defence John Terry and Gary Cahill are one of the best central pairings I have seen this season. They are half of the Premier League's tightest defence and have proved to be a tough nut to crack in Europe. Atletico Madrid have Diego Costa, Real Madrid have Cristiano Ronaldo and Bayern Munich have a host of top-class att ...
AZPILICUETA: PAST LAST EIGHT There is a range of Champions League experience throughout the Chelsea squad aiming to overcome Paris Saint-Germain tonight. There are those who have made it to the pinnacle and lifted the famous 'cup with the big ears', and there are those, as Jose Mourinho has emphasised, who are new this season to the knockout stages of this tournament. There is also Cesar Azpilicueta who is not fresh to the Champions League quarter-finals but is determined to make it on to the next step for the first time. In the Spaniard's two seasons in France at PSG's big rivals Marseille, the club progressed to the second stage although having played in the group games in the first campaign, a knee injury meant Azpilicueta was absent when they were knocked out by Manchester United in the Round of 16. In 2011/12 however he was there for an impressive run through a tough group and then beyond Inter Milan in the last 16 before meeting Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. 'We did well in the two years I wa ...

His best year to date has been 2010, when he refereed both the Champions League Final in Madrid, which saw Inter Milan beat Bayern Munich 2-0, as well as the World Cup final in South Africa. That final saw Spain lift their first World Cup after an extra time goal by Andrés Iniesta gave them the win over the Netherlands. Webb has been included in the list of referees for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, having also refereed at the Confederations Cup last summer, where he was in charge of Spain’s goalless semi-final against Italy. What United must do in Summer. 1. - Sell Evra, his time has gone now. I don't consider him as a Left Back now he's more like a LW and doesn't fall back. And the whole left side is left wide open. Buttner seems the only option we've left. Moyes should had played him instead of Evra as Buttner will be our LB against Bayern Munich ( Most probably). 2. Buy a holding midfielder. - Carrick hasn't got the resilience anymore as he had last season. Kroos would suit there perfectly. He can play as a Holding and as an Attacking mid player which we need. Mata wasn't the signing we needed according to me. He's an excellent player no doubt but we needed some strength in the midfield. Fellaini is no good. Worst signing probably. 3. Buy a Defender - As Vidic is leaving to Inter Milan and Ferdinand most likely to retire we need a commanding force behind. Jones and Smalling are very inconsistent. So yeah, a good Center Back is must needed!

UEFA Champions League TODAY This week, it is not just two of the highest-quality teams in Europe that Manchester City and Arsenal must overcome. It is also 58 years of European Cup history. In all that time, there have been only six occasions when a side have still gone through a tie after losing the first leg at home: - 1955-56: Milan lose 4-3 to Saarbrucken at home but win 4-1 away - 1968-69: Ajax lose 3-1 to Benfica at home but win 3-1 away and then win playoff - 1979-80: Forest lose 1-0 to Dynamo Berlin at City Ground but then win 3-1 away - 1993-94: Steaua Bucharest lose 2-1 at home but then beat Croatia Zagreb 3-2 away - 1995-96: Ajax lose home semifinal to Panathinaikos 1-0 but win 3-0 away - 2010-11: Inter Milan lose 1-0 at home to Bayern Munich but win the return 3-2 It’s a remarkably small number, and the overall trend thereby seems almost a bulletproof result that has become especially relevant for this round. Of the eight ties to be completed over the next nine days, six see the side that we ...

That was the Ivorian's final kick for the club. This season Chelsea made up for their 2012/13 disappointment, when they became the first Champions League holders to fail to make it through the group stage. That failure was the only blot in 11 otherwise consecutive qualifying campaigns; this season, José Mourinho's side won their group for the eighth time in that span. According to the paper United recognise that their squad is, how you say, a bit bobbins, and are looking to make five more signings of Mata's calibre. They might not come in this transfer window, with most of their business likely to be done in the summer, but if the paper is right then it might be quite some business. The Times claims: 'They are looking for top full-backs on either flank, at least two midfielders and another leading forward. Moves are being considered for Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos and Mario Mandzukic, Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal of Juventus, Inter Milan's Fredy Guarin, FC Porto's Fernando Reges and Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus.' Apparently they're keeping tabs on Glen Johnson's situation at Liverpool, which brings the frankly hilarious prospect of United's fans' reaction if they replace Rafael with him. Elsewhere, The Daily Star Sunday claims United have made a 'big offer' - specifically, worth about £22.5million - for Luke Shaw, and they're now waiting on a response from Southampton ...

I know everyone got angry when Nani got a red card last season against Real Madrid, but who remembers 2009/10 Champions League quarter final vs Bayern Munich at Old Trafford? When we went 3-0 up and then they got a goal back, we still looked comfortable and Rafael had Ribery in his pocket, but Rafael tackled Ribery, he reacted and he got Rafael sent off, and then Robben scored to make it 3-2 and Bayern went through on away goals? That makes me angrier than the one against Real Madrid because realistically we had more of a chance to win the Champions League that year against Inter Milan in the final. Its random but yea it makes me angrier than last season's one -SP

Bayern Munich were crowed champions of Europe last month after previous heartbreak, which included defeats in finals to Inter Milan and Chelsea. Will this triumph be enough to spearhead a challenge to become the number one club in Europe? Here we take a look at the top five clubs in Europe according to UEFA’s Club Coefficients System The club coefficient rankings are based on the results of clubs competing in the five previous seasons of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. 5. Manchester United | 130.592 Points Under the guidance of now-retired legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, United have reached two Champions League finals in the last five years. A poor showing last year, however, in which they only made the last 16 of the Europa League really dented any hopes of challenging for the number one spot 4. Real Madrid | 135.605 Points Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s club president, has placed a huge significance on Champions League glory during his tenure, and failure to do that is what h ...
Bayern Munich became the first German club to win the treble by beating Stuttgart 3-2 in a dramatic German Cup final. Bayern appeared to be cruising when a harsh penalty, converted by Thomas Mueller, and two Mario Gomez goals put them 3-0 ahead inside 61 minutes. Stuttgart, hammered 6-1 by the Bavarians in the Bundesliga, then gave them a real scare as Martin Harnik pulled two goals back. Bayern hung on to complete a memorable season and give departing coach Jupp Heynckes the best possible send-off as he ended his third stint in charge to make way for former Barcelona supremo Pep Guardiola. They became the seventh team to win their league, cup and European Cup in the same season, following Inter Milan (2010), Barcelona (2009), Manchester United (1999), PSV Eindhoven (1988), Ajax Amsterdam (1972) and Celtic (1967). Just as in last week's 2-1 Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund, Manuel Neuer prevented Bayern falling behind with some outstanding goalkeeping. Stuttgart nearly took an early lead ...
Bayern Munich win the German Cup to join Glasgow Celtic 1888, PSV, Man Utd,Ajax, Inter Milan & Barcelona in the illustrious Treble club"
SPORT NEWS:Champions League final: German superiority over Premier League. Bayern Munich's massed ranks of red celebrated avoiding the fate of losing their third successive Champions League final with a rousing rendition of an old England classic. The Euro 96 anthem "Football's Coming Home" was one of the souvenirs Germany took away with them - as well as the trophy - in that memorable summer. And it was back again on another sunny Wembley night of vindication for Bayern, match-winner Arjen Robben and that country's great coaching statesman Jupp Heynckes. The facts are bare. Bayern Munich cleansed the wounds of Champions League final defeats to Inter Milan in 2010 and, in their own imposing Allianz Arena to Chelsea in 2012, with a 2-1 victory over Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund. It gave the Bavarian giants, the beast that once spawned the nickname "FC Hollywood", a fifth win in this tournament. They are level with Liverpool and only Real Madrid and AC Milan are above them. Scratch underneath those st ...
Michael Daberechi: Observation. Any team that won Barcelona FC in the semi-final in the last five years, always go on to win the Champions League. Man Utd - 2008 Inter Milan - 2010 Chelsea FC - 2012 Bayern Munich - 2013 I think that there is more to this than coincidence.
Congrats to Bayern Munich as European Champion 2012/2013. Any team dat's able to knockout almighty Barca in UCL ll win d trophy. Inter Milan, Man Utd, CHELSEA, and now Bayer Munich. All knocked Barca out. Can Arsenal do same next season? Lailai kole sele.

BANG the drums, sound the trumpets, scatter the confetti — it’s Showtime! Yes, it’s Manchester City v Manchester United at the Etihad on Sunday. The country waits, panting, for this intergalactic collision between the two powerhouses of the Premier League. But we are in danger of falling into a dangerous trap here. One encouraged by the people who run the Premier League and all employed within it. The belief that English football — swimming in obscene amounts of TV money that goes straight into the offshore bank accounts of players and agents — is in vibrant, pink-cheeked health. It’s not. If anything, the Premier League bubble has burst. Barcelona have long overtaken us, while German football, led by Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, is riding high on achievement, huge gates and cheap season tickets. Meanwhile, in Italy, Juventus are starting to look as good as the Inter Milan side Jose Mourinho took to the Treble. Oh, yes, Richard Scudamore will bang on about what a great product the Prem ...

Saturday night, Chelsea FC won the UEFA Champions League which is undoubtedly the most prestigious championship after the World Cup. This victory seems far-fetched especially when you consider that this same team comprising of Didier Drogba, Lampard, John Terry, Fernando Torres, Ashley Cole, Salomon Kalou, Flourent Malouda and others was generally derided as aging some few months back and some concluded that the club would never be able to win any laurel- at least not this season. AVB came on with much promise. At just 33 years, he was a protégé of Jose Mourinho having worked with him at Porto and Inter Milan. Though he had no experience as a professional player but he achieved some measure of success having won the Europa League. Roberto Di Matteo on the other hand is 42 years, was a professional player (even played for Chelsea) but his greatest coaching highlight was leading West Brom from the English Championship (Second Division) to the Premiership. 9 Reasons why Chelsea must won this finals! 1. The last team (Inter Milan) to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League went on to lift the trophy and win the competition against Bayern Munich in the final.
A tip to Chelsea owner Roman Abrahamovic. It is better for your team to keep Robbie Di Matteo as a full time manager. Remember 2 years ago, Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan won the Champions League beating Barcelona in the semis and Bayern Munich in the finals. Mourinho left Inter, Inter left Champions League place. Now, Chelsea could go in the same direction as Inter Milan, if Di Matteo leaves the club. All the best! Cheers!

Strange things have started in the world of football. Everything has become new. 1) In Spain, my beloved Real Madrid has upturned Barca after three years of dominance to win the league. 2) In England, Man City has pipped Man Utd in style. 3) In Italy, Juventus has come back to claim the league, proving that all powers do not belong to Ac Milan and Inter Milan. 4) In France, Montepellier has become mercurial. Lille, O.Lyon, O.Marseille and PSG are now walking in the shadows. 5) In Germany, Borrusia Dortmund has disgraced the german record champions, Bayern Munich. They have won their first double. 6) In Uefa cup, who believed Diego Simeone of Athletico Madrid against his former football mentor, Athletic Bilboa's Marcelo Bielsa? 7) Finally in the Champions League, Roberto Di Matteo has led chelsea fc to destroy their 2008 Moscow demons after 4yrs now against popular Bayern munich in Bayern's backyard. New champions everywhere. Get ready for new things in ur own life too. I love you.
Chelsea win Champions League MUNICH, Germany (AFP) – Chelsea beat Bayern Munich 4-3 on penalties to win the Champions League on Saturday after the two sides had been locked at 1-1 at the end of extra-time. German international Thomas Mueller had headed Bayern into a deserved lead in the 83rd minute from a left wing cross before Didier Drogba levelled with a bullet header with just two minutes remaining of normal time. Drogba conceded a penalty in the third minute of extra-time for a clumsy foul on Franck Ribery, but Former Chelsea player Arjen Robben saw his penalty saved by Petr Cech in the Chelsea goal. In the shootout, Drogba was the hero when he buried the winning penalty. The European Cup,now call the UEFA Champions League founded in 1955. Is the most prestigeous club competition in the world. Losing finalist €5,600.000. With all this statistics, you will agree with me that the UEFA C.L is the most lucrative and money spining tournament in the world. And looking at the final 2nite,btw Chelsea and Bayern Munich at the Allienz Arena Germany,do you think Bayern can win the UCL at their home ground? Like some teams who have done it in the past. Real Madrid in 1957 against Florentina and Inter Milan in 1965. Can they do likewise 2nite? Let me have ur take.
Bayern Munich – Chelsea Preview: Of home comforts and a fighting spirit May 19, 2012 · It is the ultimate meeting of the perennial bridesmaids. For years on end, German powerhouse, Bayern Munich have excelled magnificently on the domestic scene but have fallen just short on the continent. The Bavarians last won the Champions League in 2001, two years after a great miracle handed it to Manchester United. The last time they came close, a certain Jose Mourinho inspired Inter Milan to victory in 2010. Having exacted revenge on the Portuguese, Bayern have booked a date with history, at their very own Allianz Arena, with Chelsea. Who ever gave Chelsea a chance? Struggling both in England and Europe under Andre Villas-Boas, they piled up one bad result after another. Until Roberto Di Matteo came along and changed their season dramatically. It all started with that sensational turn around against Napoli at Stamford Bridge. Since then, the Blues have made little matter of the might of Barcelona. They almost w ...

Early Sunday morning Bayern Munich will be trying to become the first side since Inter Milan (1965) to win the Champions League final on home soil. The Germans will be looking to win their fifth trophy and erase the disappointment of losing the 2010 final. ...
You'd think Dave Whelan would bone up on his football when making statements. Regarding Roberto Martinez "I have always said when a big club comes, I will give him permission and they don't come any bigger than Liverpool." How about Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Spurs, Marseille, PSG, Stevenage Borough, Accrington Stanley (i'm running out of space)
Bayern Munich, being a German side, have never won under Pedro Proença, with a record of two losses in the two games he was put in charge of. He officiated Bayern Munich’s 3-2 loss against Inter Milan in the knockout stage of the 10/11 Champions League which sent them out of the competition, and their 2-0 loss against Bordeaux in the group stage of the 09/10 Champions League; both of these matches were played in Munich, Germany at the Allianz Arena.
This year English Premier League, gave us full of excitement until the last day at the last whistle blow.Even Hollywood script writer can't make this kind of thrill..Roberto Manchini, manager of Manchester City truly deserved to be a champion. He also won Serie A title twice with Inter Milan,4 or 5 years ago. Now,long awaited Champions' League Final will be on our time 20/5,4:15 am.As a Bayern Munich fan,I hope Bayern can clinch the title for 5th time.Last Sunday,I watched the German Cup final (equal to English FA cup)Brossia Dortmon & Bayern Munich.Bayern lost 5:2 to Dortmon.Anyway,it's good for Bayen coach to tune the best for 20th May Final.Against Dortmon,German National team & club skipper Philip Lahm was over committed in attacking, two goals were came from his side.Chelsea is very good in counter attack.Apart from that,Bayern is superior than Chelsea.Who wants to bet?
Here's some of the clubs who ended the season without a trophy. Man Utd, Barca, AC Milan, Inter and Bayern Munich. take that in.
With over A BILLION spent in 3 years, for many critics it will be a TITLE bought with money if they win the league. Who cares? All the big teams in Europe; Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and so on have invested lots of money over the years. And these are the teams which are successful in their leagues and Europe. I'm not a FAN of Manchester City but will love to see them win this year. They've played brilliantly in most of the games this year. Probably this will trigger the end of the domination of Manchester United in English Premiere League.
Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger admits he'd love to play for Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho. Schweinsteiger is a huge fan of the Former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager. "I have to admit that I see Mourinho as an excellent coach. Unfortunately he doesn't speak German. Either way, I believe Mourinho is a coach who would definitely be successful with Bayern," Schweinsteiger told Bild. "I would very much like it if Bayern think of Mourinho if we are ever in the market for a new coach
2009/10 Atlético Madrid won the Europa League. That year Bayern Munich lost 2-0 to Inter Milan in the final. Lets hope that happens again!

Okay, I need to go on a sports rant. Yesterday 7 of my favorite teams played, and 6 of the LOST. I am so torqued. The Spurs lost to the Lakers, the Rockets lost to the Jazz, the Astros lost to the Braves, the Rangers lost to the Mariners, Manchester United lost to Wigan (English Premier League for those who don't follow), and Bayern Munich lost to Borussia Dortumund (German Bundesliga). The only team to save me was Inter Milan by beating Siena (Italian Serie A). Good thing the Cowboys weren't playing, other wise I might have gone over the edge.
to'o secured a lucrative move from Inter Milan to big-spending Russian team Anzhi Makhachkala in August 2011 and he has reportedly banked $37 million. Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney was fifth on the list with $32.6 million, while the Manchester City duo of Argentina's Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure of the Ivory Coast took home $29.7 million and $27.8 million respectively. Completing the top 10 were Chelsea striker Fernando Torres ($26.4 million), Real playmaker Kaka ($24.5 million) and Bayern Munich's Germany captain Philipp Lahm ($22.6 million).
