Eden Hazard: "I want to be like Didier. I want to do what he did against Bayern Munich. If he can do it, why can't I?"
Dear USA, your national team is in no comparison to Belgium so there's no need to be upset. Belgium is a world class team. They have players alone that are worth more than the entire USA squad...for example; Eden Hazard, one of the most profilic and young superstars in Europe that plays for Chelsea. Kevin De Bruyne, young rising star who played for Chelsea and is currently at Wolfsburg. Vincent Kompany, one of the best defenders in the world playing for Manchester City. Daniel Van Buyten, veteran defender who has been playing for Bayern Munich since 2006. Alex Witsel, midfielder who got transferred to Zenit for 40 million Euros. Fellaini who plays for Manchester United and is one of the best holding midfielders in the world. Before you bash the USA players and the staff or say oh no we believe we could've beaten Belgium, you need to realize that there is no youth system here to bring out world class players. People keep going on about Landon Donovan...he went to Europe he couldn't do anything and they sen ...

Discussions between the clubs are on-going and an agreement is anticipated well before the start of the World Cup. David Luiz, a £23.5m signing from Benfica in January 2011, has claimed the Champions League and Europa League with Chelsea but found himself something of a stop-gap at both centre-half and in defensive midfield last season. At 27, and with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich also long-standing admirers, he represents a saleable asset for the London club as they seek to comply with Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations. The sale to PSG, who are more bullish about maintaining their lavish spending of recent years, would grant José Mourinho more leeway in the market this summer to strengthen his squad in other areas. The Spain forward Diego Costa is expected to join from Atlético Madrid for £31 ...

Chelsea should do everything to sign Ibrahimovic in January Despite, Chelsea’s emphatic 2-0 victory over Fulham in the West London derby, concerns must be mounting over Jose Mourinho’s strikeforce. So far this season, only one Chelsea’s goals has been scored by a striker – Fernando Torres’ 8th minute opener in the UEFA Super Cup defeat to Bayern Munich on penalties remains the only exception to the rule – all of the Blues’ 10 goals scored in all competitions have come from midfielders or defenders (or own goals). Presently, Oscar is their leading goal scorer with three with Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, John Obi Mikel, Branislav Ivanovic (and Torres) all tied with one each. In their 2-0 defeat at Everton both Samuel Eto’o and substitute Torres were woeful with their finishing – the Blues had 22 shots of which just 5 were on target. They ground out the result admirably against Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday – they had a massive 64 per cent of possession over 94 minutes (they comple ...

Chelsea News! Only five blues stars are certain starters for the coming season under Jose Mourinho -Petr Cech, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard, and Oscar. Spainish wizard, Juan Mata and Brazil defender, David Luiz are not among the five. And Fernando Torres (who is wanted at the Emirate) could also be waving farewell to the Premier League this summer. Mourinho is thought to prefer Oscar in the No.10 role supporting a main striker, believing the Brazilian poses more attacking threat than Mata. This means Mourinho wil try to bring in six players before the transfer window closes -knowing a fee within the region of £35m from Barca for David Luiz could help fund new recruits. Brazilian star Hulk of Zenit St Petersburg, Mario Gomez of Bayern Munich and AC Milan hitman El Shaarawy are all on Mourinho's wishlist -along with Manchester City's Edin Dzeko.

Chelsea 2 Southampton 2: Rafa's home struggle continues as Blues squander two-goal lead Chelsea suffered another case of the Stamford Bridge blues as they threw away a two-goal lead to Southampton. Demba Ba, with his 14th Barclays Premier League strike of the season, and Eden Hazard had put Chelsea in firm control and they seemed to be cruising to a first home victory since before Christmas. But Rickie Lambert pulled Southampton back into the game with a header three minutes after being sent on and Jason Puncheon then equalised with a brilliant volley. Since their 8-0 rout of Aston Villa on December 23, Chelsea have lost at home to QPR and Swansea and now drawn with the relegation-battling Saints. There had been no audible boos of Rafael Benitez before kick-off, perhaps because he chose to start with Ba ahead of Fernando Torres and with Frank Lampard in midfield. But hours after Pep Guardiola announced he was taking charge of Bayern Munich, the dissent towards Benitez on the final whistle was clear. The p ...

The ex-midfielder won the FA Cup twice and made 175 appearances for the Blues between 1996 and 2002, and took over as boss in the wake of Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to Napoli in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. But they overturned that deficit with a 4-1 win at Stamford Bridge and secured a 2-2 draw at Barcelona in the semi-final second leg despite having John Terry sent off in the first half at the Nou Camp. After beating Liverpool 2-1 in the FA Cup final, they beat Bayern Munich in a dramatic penalty shoot-out in the Champions League final. They finished sixth in the Premier League and Abramovich waited until June to give Di Matteo the job on a permanent basis. And after the arrivals of Eden Hazard,Oscar and Victor Moses, they suffered just one defeat in their opening 12 matches. Although Chelsea enjoyed an impressive opening to the campaign, Di Matteo faced constant questions about Terry, who was banned for four matches and fined £220,000 by the Football Association for racially abusing ...
Chelsea FC record first Abramovich-era profit. Chelsea Football Club has said it made a profit of £1.4m ($2.2m) for the financial year ending on 30 June, the first time the club has made a profit since Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich took over as owner in 2003. The West London club also recorded a record group turnover of £255.7m. The team, which won the Champions League last season as well as the FA Cup, are second in the Premier League. The profit comes after a £67.7m loss in the previous financial year. Chelsea says it is in a strong position to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play criteria for the coming seasons, which require clubs over a fixed period to achieve a break-even figure when expenditure is measured against income from football-related activities. The increase in turnover puts them above Arsenal in the money league and in fifth place in the world behind Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich. Arsenal's figure, released two months ago, saw overall turnover fal ...

Eden Hazard has revealed he considered joining Tottenham Hotspur before their failure to qualify for the Champions League. Interest in Hazard, 21, was thought to be high in the summer with Tottenham one of several clubs linked prior to his £32 million move from Lille to Chelsea. The Belgium international has claimed he was interested in signing for Spurs, after being impressed with the club following a fine first half of the 2011-12 campaign that was followed by poor form and a fourth-placed finish. Despite finishing fourth, Tottenham were ultimately denied a place in this season's Champions League by virtue of the playmaker's new club Chelsea claiming European glory by beating Bayern Munich in May. "It's true that Tottenham tempted me because it was a young team which was third in the league," Hazard told France Football. "Unfortunately, the end of the season did not go well. They did not reach the Champions League, which tipped the balance." Hazard further explained how Chelsea's intentions to bolster ...
“But the hope is to win the trophy again.” Since beating Bayern Munich on penalties in the Germans’ own backyard, Chelsea have spent £80million in the transfer market to rejuvenate an ageing squad with the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Cesar Azpilicueta and Victor Moses.
Just over three months after Chelsea were crowned European champions, we will discover how we begin our defence of the title when the group stage draw takes place in Monaco this afternoon (Thursday). The scheduled start of the draw is at 4.45pm UK time, with the Chelsea squad in the principality ahead of the Super Cup match the following evening. When it comes to the Champions League draw, we will take our place in the Pot 1 containing the eight top-seeded teams which means no rematch with Bayern Munich nor Barcelona at this stage of the competition. We will also be kept away from Spanish and Portuguese champions Real Madrid and Porto, and Italian runners-up AC Milan who are also in Pot 1. Instead the Serie A champions Juventus are potential group stage opponents as they are in Pot 2 containing the next eight highest seeds. Manchester City, as a fellow English club, cannot be drawn in the same group as Chelsea, which leaves six other possibilities. A draw against Benfica would pit us against our quarter-f ...
Can Chelsea Retain The Champions League Title? Since being rebranded from the UEFA Champions Club Cup to the UEFA Champions League in 1992, no club has ever repeated as European champions – not even Lionel Messi’s Barcelona. But Marko Marin believes Chelsea is in a good position to make history after defeating Barcelona and Bayern Munich en route to winning Europe’s top prize last season. “Yeah, [I believe Chelsea can repeat],” the Blues’ new midfielder told Goal.com. “The team changed a lot, but there’s a lot of high quality here.” Marin is one of the major additions to Chelsea this summer, joining Eden Hazard and Oscar as the club’s newest key members. But while the Premier League team certainly improved its roster, veteran Frank Lampard points out that other contenders have boosted their squads as well. “Every year is very tough and we had an amazing year last season. We will try our best to do it and of course, it’s a possibility but every other team will be stronger,” Lampar ...
Eden Hazard (Chelsea, £32 million) It seemed Chelsea secured three trophies within a month: they held off Liverpool to win the FA Cup, saw off Bayern Munich to lift the Champions League and fought off Manchester City and Manchester United to buy Eden Hazard.
Chelsea boosted by £50m Champions League winnings Roman Abramovich will have welcomed the cash injection, having forked out over £40 million for the additions of Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Kevin De Bruyne recently. Chelsea have received a huge cash reward for their Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich in May, picking up almost £50 million in prize money. The Blues' penalty shoot-out victory at the Allianz Arena saw them unsurprisingly take home the biggest payout of the clubs which took part. Losing finalists Bayern earned £33m from the £595m prize fund shared among 32 participating teams. Despite being eliminated at the group stage of the competition, Manchester United were England's second highest earners, receiving a sum of £28m. Rivals Manchester City, who were also knocked out early on, took around £21m for their efforts. Arsenal, who went further in the competition, only to be eliminated by AC Milan over two legs, took £22m into the Emirates Stadium coffers. English clubs are reward ...
