Guardiola: Torres perfect for Atletico The coach lauded Diego Simeone's decision to bring the former club captain back to the Vicente Calderon and believes they pose a threat to Bayern's Champions League chances By Miles Chambers Jan 16, 2015 23:36:00 Former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola believes that Atletico Madrid have hit the jackpot by bringing Fernando Torres back to the Vicente Calderon. Torres left La Liga for Liverpool in 2007, one year before Guardiola famously took the reins at Camp Nou, and returned earlier this month on loan from AC Milan having flopped at San Siro and Chelsea before that. Football pundits and fans were split over whether Torres would burden another club with his lack of goals, but he stunned arch-rivals Real Madrid on Thursday by scoring a double to knock the holders out of the Copa Del Rey at the last-16 stage. Guardiola, who now coaches Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, believes that the Spain international is perfectly suited to life under Diego Simeone's wing in Madrid. ...

Rickie Lambert’s arrival at Anfield has taken the number of World Cup-bound players in Liverpool’s squad up to 12. It is a figure which only six clubs in the world - Napoli, Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich - can better. The Reds will have six men on duty for England, two for Uruguay and one each from Spain, Belgium, France and Ivory Coast. Some will return heroes, others might not even kick a ball in the competition. Here is a profile of the 12. Steven Gerrard (England) Born: May 30, 1980 in Whiston (age 34) Caps/goals: 110/21 Profile: This will be Gerrard’s six major tournament with England and he is yet to make it beyond the quarter-final stage. But Euro 2010 was a personal triumph as he was named in the Uefa Team of the Tournament. Expectation: Gerrard is the elder statesman and figurehead of a young, vibrant squad. As such, the expectation levels on England - and the skipper - have lowered to more realistic levels. Another run to the quarter-final stages wou ...

Johan Cruyff has claimed Real Madrid have been lucky in their Champions League victory, after having scored the equaliser against Atletico Madrid in the 93rd minute of the final. “Real Madrid can’t complain of the luck they’ve had. As we the Dutch say, you can’t trust the Germans in the last five minutes because they always score. It’s the same here. The match is not over until the referee whistles,” Cruyff said in an interview with Spanish radio station COPE. The Former Barcelona manager refuesed to recognise that Los Blancos have been the best team in Europe this season. “In one football game you can’t say that a team is the best in Europe. I saw Bayern Munich winning and being successful, but they relaxed after winning the Bundesliga. Real had a strong team and played at 200% against them. We can say the same about the end of La Liga with Real, Barcelona and Atletico,” he pointed out. Cruyff also spoke about the World Cup that will kick off in two weeks: “Spain have all their men pl ...

SCHWEINSTEIGER ON THE CHEAP It seems like the kind of dodgy offer you’d expect from a TV shopping channel, but Bayern Munich is reportedly willing to sell Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United for just $18m. Van Gaal worked with the Germany central midfielder during his time at the club, and with Pep Guardiola reportedly happy with the options he has at his disposal, would be willing to give the 29-year-old a chance to continue his career in England. La Decima Contrary to innuendo from a section of over excited Real Madrid fans concerning the Champions League final last Saturday, I actually predicted the Whites would win against Atletico Madrid. In fact, in my analysis I singled out the danger Angel Di Maria would be in his new role (Lo Renzo remember the Mesut Ozil aside?) And Di Maria was the official man of the match. I said Real Madrid would emerge champions though my heart wanted-fact-Diego Simeone's side to win. Wait a minute! Atleti got a bitter taste of the cruelty of football. Kind of reminds their fans not to make monkey chants and gestures to African and black players. Karma. The lesser evil triumphed. Let us see how Spain does at the World Cup. It is the racism in some of them that I hate. But La Decima was well deserved in the end for Real Madrid. And I said so prior to the match-in fact after they eliminated Bayern Munich (no selective amnesia Fidelis Silungwe). Congratulations to all good Real Madrid fans! (And sorry imposters who canno ...

Berkan's Lahcen Akhmiss reduced the deficit with nine minutes to go but Tetouan were able to hold on for the win and the league title, their first since their maiden triumph in 2012. Storied Moroccan side Raja Casablanca were title favourites headed into the final week but lost to Safi, handing the title to Tetouan in the process. No matter who you support or who you hate.. Not a million memes can deny the fact that Real Madrid have beaten the best to reach here where they are and aren't what they call "lucky" Juventus (italian league champions) Bayern Munich (German league champions) Atletico Madrid (Spanish league champions) And other fierce rivals like Dortmund galatasaray as well. Not to mention also defeated barca to win the copa Del Rey too.
Clubs that won at least one trophy this season in Europe are: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Man City, Arsenal and PSG.
Last night's result has thrown up some fascinating reaction from people around the world. Real Madrid seem to have done an act of blasphemy by putting up such a stunning performance, not just last night but throughout the Champions League and most of the La Liga season.     Football fans who are not biased fanatics of a single team... (and lets be honest there will hardly be any from Atletico since the beginning of the season) seem to have found extreme loyalty for the Los Rojiblancos. And when you think of it, the underdogs have always received that.     It was Atletico Madrid this season, BVB Dortmund the last time, Bayern Munich twice the years before. Then there was Inter Milan who went on to win it in 09-10. Liverpool with their Istanbul comeback. Porto when Mourinho came in the limelight.     And these are just a few that I could think of.     Come to think of these examples and most of the times, all that these teams end up achieving is a single successful reason. There is no increased inco ...
Uefa Champions League FINAL: Real Madrid: How Will They Line Up in Champions League Final Against Atletico? It may have been 40 years since Atletico Madrid last showed their face in a Champions League final—when it was still known as the European Cup—but the 12 years Real Madrid have been forced to wait since their last appearance at this stage feels like a lifetime given their cravings to lift the trophy for the 10th time. At last, on Saturday evening in Lisbon, Los Blancos now have the chance to win La Decima, and it will be all the more sweeter if they can do it against their city rivals. According to Spanish publication AS, "15,000 cars and 600 buses (around 90,000 people)" split between the two clubs will make the trip from Madrid to Portugal Before Carlo Ancelotti even assesses the fitness of his patched-up squad, he already knows he will be without Xabi Alonso. The Spanish international midfielder was booked in the semifinal second leg against Bayern Munich and will miss the match suspended. Ma ...

Real Madrid-Espanyol Preview: Ancelotti's men face Champions League final warm-up Real Madrid end their Liga season against Espanyol on Saturday - but all eyes will be on another capital versus Catalunya clash at Camp Nou. A run of three games without victory has ended any hopes Real had of winning La Liga, so their meeting with Javier Aguirre's side represents little more than an undercard clash ahead of the title-deciding bout between their arch-rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, which kicks off two hours later. Carlo Ancelotti's men have taken just two points from their last three league fixtures, meaning they have gone more than two Liga games without winning for the first time since May 2009. Real's poor run of domestic form has followed their stunning 4-0 Champions League semi-final second-leg demolition of Bayern Munich. And it is safe to say Ancelotti will now have more than one eye on next Saturday's Champions League showpiece with neighbours Atletico, when Real go in search of their long-awai ...

Atletico Madrid duo Miranda and Filipe Luis also missed out, as did Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho and Bayern Munich defender Rafinha Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has confirmed his 23-man squad for World Cup 2014, with Kaka, Robinho and Lucas Moura all missing out. Napoli’s Henrique, Inter midfielder Hernanes, Roma’s Maicon and PSG defender Maxwell were all unsure of their places at the tournament ahead of the announcement in Rio this morning, but all have been selected. The quartet were all absent from the squad that travelled to Johannesburg for Brazil’s 5-0 victory over South Africa in March. Atletico Madrid defenders Filipe Luis and Miranda as well as Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho were also overlooked, as was Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha. Luis Felipe Scolari has left Miranda, Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Moura and Robinho out of his Brazil squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. There had been speculation Miranda, who has been in outstanding form for Atletico Madrid, would receive his first international call-up in over a year, but Scolari opted to name Napoli's Henrique as his fourth center back. "He's a player I have a lot of trust in," Scolari said of Henrique. Fellow defenders Dede, Filipe Luis, Marquinhos, Rafinha and Rever were left disappointed, as was Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva. The latter's Anfield teammate Coutinho has been in superb for this season, but Scolari elected to include just two attacking midfielders in Chelsea pair Oscar and Willian. The 65-year-old called Rafinha and Fernandinho up for the first time for Brazil's most recent friendly – the 5-0 win in South Africa in March – but while the Manchester City midfielder retained his place, Inter veteran Maicon was preferred to the Bayern Munich man. Scolari, who included ...

Hazard is Chelsea's most effective player in the final third but may still be on his way and as well as interest from Barcelona there is said to be other prospective suitors including Bayern Munich and PSG. Way back before the knockout stage of Champions League, Arsene Wenger told the press that Barcelona, Bayern Munich, PSG, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Blackburn are favorite to win this year Champions League in Lisbon. Look at the two team in Final. Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid
If You Must Make Mistakes, Make Fresh Ones & Six Other Lessons I Learnt From The Chelsea- Atletico Madrid Match By Bayo Adeyinka I predicted a very tough match for Chelsea against Atletico Madrid ( read my last article on Atletico- Barcelona Match here I already told a few friends that the second leg of the Uefa Champions League Semi Final Match would prove to be the greatest acid test for Jose Mourinho and his team this current season. I was very worried when 'The Special One' was happy to get a barren draw during the first leg at the Vicente Calderon. On Tuesday Night when Real Madrid outclassed and took Bayern Munich to the cleaners at the Allianz Arena, I knew Diego Simeone would also be tempted to take his chances. And boy, he did a clean and excellent job! It was almost a no-contest immediately after the penalty conceded by Samuel Eto'o. Atletico's 40-year wait to get to the final has finally ended. What are the lessons inherent in that match and how can we apply them to life? DON'T SEND OUT YOUR B ...

I DON`T CARE IF WE FACE MOURINHO.Ronaldo. Madrid booked their place in the final, to be held in Lisbon on May 24, with a 5-0 aggregate win over holders Bayern Munich. Ronaldo scored twice on Tuesday in Germany with Sergio Ramos getting the other two goals of a 4-0 triumph. Chelsea meet Atletico Madrid tonight in the second semi-final, which means Los Blancos will either face a city derby or a reunion with Mourinho, who spent three years at Santiago Bernabeu before leaving his post last summer and returning to the Blues. “A final is always difficult,” Ronaldo said. “I don't care if it's Mourinho or another coach. It will be in my country and I want to win the Champions League.” It was speculated that Mourinho and Ronaldo fell out during their time working together in Madrid, a gossip denied by Mourinho, but Ronaldo did lavish praise upon Mourinho’s successor, Carlo Ancelotti. “Ancelotti deserves all the praise. He has changed everything,” Ronaldo said. “He has changed the mentality of the p ...

Real Madrid ROAR POWERFULLY INTO FINAL Real Madrid blew Bayern Munich away to reach the Uefa Champions League final with a 4-0 second leg victory which secured a 5-0 aggregate success. Sergio Ramos took advantage of some woeful marking to head home twice from set pieces in the opening 20 minutes before Cristiano Ronaldo put the finishing touch to a devastating counter-attack in the 34th minute in a blistering opening half from the Spanish giants. Ronaldo added a fourth with a late free-kick and the only downside for Carlo Ancelotti's side, who will face either city rivals Atletico Madrid or Chelsea and former boss Jose Mourinho in the Lisbon final next month, was the needless booking for midfielder Xabi Alonso which rules him out of the showpiece. Pep Guardiola's reigning European champions had dominated possession in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu last week, only to leave Spain with a 1-0 deficit after Karim Benzema struck. Any hopes they had of working their way back into the tie were obliterated by ...

Real Madrid thrash Bayern Munich 4 - 0 Real Madrid sailed into their first Champions League final since 2002 with an astonishingly one-sided away victory over holders Bayern Munich. Sergio Ramos scored two headers from set-pieces before Cristiano Ronaldo rounded off a counter-attack to all but end the game as a contest. Ronaldo added a late free-kick for his record 16th goal of the European campaign to seal a 5-0 aggregate win. Real will face either Chelsea or Atletico Madrid in the final in Lisbon.
Bayern coach Pep Guardiola has backed France forward Franck Ribery to inspire a comeback from the five-time European champions, who are aiming to become the first side to retain the Champions League. Ribery, who was named as the world's third best player behind Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in January, was criticised for his performance in Spain last week. But he shone against Bremen and Guardiola is expecting him to play another starring role on Tuesday. "Franck played like he was possessed at the weekend," said Guardiola. "He fights and fights and for this reason the people love him here at the Allianz Arena. "He is one of the best players in the history of Bayern Munich and we need his help." The winner of Bayern and Real will play either Chelsea or Atletico Madrid, who meet again on Wednesday, in the final on 24 May in Portugal's capital city Lisbon.

All to play for in semi-final showdowns (FIFA.com) Monday 28 April 2014 Share With just one goal scored in last week's Uefa Champions League semi-final openers, the return legs ought to serve up plenty of drama and intrigue on Tuesday and Wednesday. Bayern Munich tackle Real Madrid for the 22nd time needing to score at least one goal to salvage their dream of retaining the title, whereas Los Merengues are the only club in the last four able to defend first-leg gains. As for Atletico Madrid, the sole team still unbeaten in the competition, their incredible adventure continues away against a Chelsea side brimming with belief. First semi-final, Tuesday 29 April Bayern Munich-Real Madrid (first leg: 0-1) The scoreline did not tell the whole story during Bayern's 5-2 win against Werder Bremen on Saturday as Josep Guardiola's men put in a Jekyll and Hyde display, labouring in the first half before hitting their stride after the break. The good news was that Franck Ribery seemed to rediscover his form, and the h ...

Looking forward to the World Cup this summer, I sincerely hope inspiration for the managers will be provided by the exciting & dynamic athleticism of teams like Bayern Munich, Ajax, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid – not by the suck-all-life-out-of-the-game & park the bus tactics that Mourinho and Chelsea have championed this season. In many ways I feel the spirit of the upcoming tournament will be decided by the end run of the Champions League.
Ronaldo double eases Madrid past Osasuna 26 April 2014, 22:27 Real Madrid's rampant Cristiano Ronaldo scored at the start of each half to set up a 4-0 victory olowly Osasuna and put the pressure back on La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid on Saturday. Sergio Ramos and Daniel Carvajal also netted for Real who are second on 82 points, three behind Atletico before their trip to Valencia on Sunday with both teams having played 34 games. Barcelona, mourning the death of former coach Tito Vilanova on Friday, are now in third place with 81 points from 34 matches and travel to Villarreal on Sunday. Real did not risk Gareth Bale or Karim Benzema against Osasuna ahead of their Champions League semifinal second leg at Bayern Munich on Tuesday in which they hold a 1-0 advantage. But there was no holding Ronaldo, who only returned from injury in Wednesday's first leg against Bayern at the Bernabeu having been out since early April, as he cut in from the left wing and fired into the corner of the net after six minutes. Top Clubs That Would End This Season Trophy-less 1. Manchester United - No Champions League for them next season too. 2. Liverpool - Mourinho would see to that on the 27th. 3. Arsenal - Mourinho's jinx is still effective until goddess Athena is appeased. 4. Barcelona - They are third on the table and 4 points behind league leaders. 5. Atletico Madrid - Chelsea would see to that in UCL and Madrid in La Liga. 6. Borussia Dortmund - The team spirit is down. Tired legs abound. 7. AC Milan - It has been a usual occurrence in recent time. 8. Inter Milan - Since Mourinho left with his charm, Inter are at decline. Top Gainers 1. Chelsea - UCL & EPL. Chelsea may be the first club in history to win Uefa competitions 3 consecutive seasons. With EPL now between Liverpool and Chelsea and a game against Liverpool at Anfield, the league is Chelsea's. 2. Real Madrid - CDR & La Liga. I've said all along through this Champions League it will be an Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich final. If this happens I'm going to regret not putting money on both of them to get to the final
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea. I put my money on an all spanish final. Real Madrid to reach 'La Decima'(10 Uefa Champions League Titles).

Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Chelsea are the four teams battling for a spot in this season's Champions League final. We still do not know which team should meet. Of course, as a supporter of BPL, a team from the Premier League is the top choice, like The Blues - Jit Jilum Jack

Champions League semifinalists: Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea & Atletico Madrid, who'll play first European Cup
Backpass Part 1 Atletico Madrid made a smooth transition from "dark horse contender" to legitimate threat in this year's Uefa Champions League on Wednesday, dispatching Barcelona 1-0 (2-1 aggregate) at the Vicente Calderon. All this without 33-goal Diego Costa—the man whom so often rides to their rescue with a solitary, deciding goal—and Turkish speedster Arda Turan, essential to their quick-break, counterattacking philosophy. But with Atleti there is no grumbling, no kicking their feet in the sand; they got on with it, plain and simple, and plugged viable replacements into a well-oiled, nearly unbeatable system. Real Madrid have shown areas of weakness in La Liga and Europe, Bayern Munich can seemingly only turn it on when they're a goal down and Chelsea still lack a striker who can make the difference no matter what Demba Ba says. Atletico Madrid present a horror tactical matchup for any side who struggles to break down deep defensive systems set out in low-blocks. Bayern, Real and Chelsea could all ...
Just beat my brother 1-0 with Atletico Madrid. Oh, also..He was Bayern Munich. I am God.
Congratulations to Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid for reaching semi finals.
Real Madrid, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, I would love to see Madrid avoid each ada on semi draw
Our worst fears have just been realized. Manchester United failing to go past Bayern Munich and make it to the Uefa Champions League last four. Well we knew this may happen save for a miracle as our coach David Moyes (Moyo) is not a footballing tactian, lacks experience, strategy and foresight (like his counterpart at Arsenal, Mr. Arsene Wenger). They are both football geniuses, experts and masters of failure at football's highest level. This is a big tragedy at Manchester United caused by one man, one chief culprit, Sir Alex Ferguson. Surely even if he chose such a novice, there should have been a proper transition so the novice can get a hang of the ropes than throw him into the deep end the way it has been done. Were we expecting instant miracles from this novice? Hence the saying or adage "you reap what you sow". One the other hand, I can't believe that Barcelona failed to go past Atletico Madrid and make it to the last four. Totally shocked. Such is football. Time for an overhaul at Old Trafford. Goo ...
The Champions League Semi Finals have been decided, the teams involved at least. This morning Atletico Madrid at home, had defeated Barcelona 1-0. Koke scored in the 5'. Atletico Madrid making the semi finals for the first time since 1974 knocking out Spanish Powerhouse Barcelona. In the other game of the night Bayern Munich Vs Manchester United, United scored in the 16' but not to be allowed as Valencia was offside. The game rolled on Ito the second half, Valencia this time with the cross a very poor cross eventually finds Patrice Evra outside the box, thunders the ball into the cross bar and into the back of the net. Bayern Munich immediately responded with a goal of their own to restore order, Mandzukic heading the ball pass De Gea. Thomas Muller extended the home sides lead with an easy goal, and Robben put the nail in the coffin knocking out Manchester United with a 3-1 score line (4-2). A Wrap up of the Quarter Finals. 1st Leg. Barcelona 1-1 Atletico Madrid : 2nd April BAR- Neymar 71'. AM- Deigo 56' ...
Atletico Madrid why? Bayern Munich has consoled me though. Nice game!!!
I think it will be a 100% Spanish final in the Champions League this season..Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid..even if i believe that Bayern Munich is the best team in the world

As I said Barcelona must score opener against Atletico Madrid A solitary strike from Koke early on has sealed a 2-1 aggregate victory for Diego Simeone's men over domestic rivals, Barcelona, at Vicente Calderon! The tie was delicately balanced after the first leg finished 1-1 , and Los Colchoneros have defended their one-goal advantage on the second leg magnificently to see them progress to the final-four! Neymar and Messi squandered the best opportunity of the match :'( Congratulations ATLÉTICO DE MADRID :) 'n Bayern Munich came from behind to beat Manchester United on Wednesday evening and secure a 4-2 aggregate win to reach the Champions League semi-finals. Congratulations FC Bayern München ! Thanks for the fun ^^
Eish! I don't worry to Barcelona knocked out of the Uefa Champion but while congratulation well done to Atletico Madrid has gone to semifinal. I can't believe to Bayern Munich did shooting goals soon but wrong about Man United Goalkeeper weak as not save. Franck Ribery very crazy so much about first his fighting with Patrick Evra then i know his both together France. I feel not interesting now. :(
Congratulation for Atletico Madrid,Chelsea,Real Madrid,Bayern Munich for qualifying to the semi final Uefa Champions League this year..u all deserve it.. So sad tonight
Bayern Munich 3-1 Manchester United United took the lead early but concede quickly and lost the lead quicker,The best performance of the season from United but not enough to overcome Pep Guardiola and his men Atletico Madrid 1-0 Barcelona Barcelona failed to score in the second half, Atletico entering the semi finals in a long time, Barcelona had a lot of chances but couldn't convert them to goals Unlucky night for both Barcelona and Manchester United teams and their fans Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Real Madrid go into the semi finals

More quarter-final Uefa Champions League cup play today: ManU, who are struggling in the Premier League but are within striking distance of a European bid next term, go against arguably the strongest side in Europe this year, Bayern Munich, in Munich, down an away-goal, at 1-1, aggregate. Bayern will be without a couple of their stars, including Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez suspended for yellow-cards, and Thiago-Silva, still on the bench with an injury. Also today, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona meet on the Madridistas' home ground to resolve their 1-1 draw, with Madrid having the advantage of the away goal. Both contest/festivities get under way around 12:45 MDT...

Ok boys and girls . This weeks top ten. Week of April 6 1. Liverpool (W 2-1) - Liverpool is showing championship stuff . 2. PSG (W 3-0) - This is a very scary team, especially in Europe... Made Chelsea look ordinary . 3. Atletico Madrid (W 1-0) - still top of La Liga . 4. Barcelona (W 3-1) - keeping up the pressure ... 5. Bayern Munich (L 0-1) - 2 draws 1 loss in their last three games. Not good enough. 6. Manchester City (W 4-1) - title challenge maintained . 7. Real Madrid (W 4-0) - solid win 8. Juventus (1-0) - One leg in the Europa League semi-finals. 9. Chelsea (W 3-0) - Steadied the ship after a midweek lost to PSG... 10. Everton (W 3-0) - in position to break up the top four in the EPL .6 wins in a row. What a sumptuous night of Champions League football viewing it was! The first quarter final had United putting up a valiant display, against arguably Europe’s best side Bayern Munich. Vidic turned back the years and his neck muscles, to superbly head in a goal, and give United a surprising lead. That seemed to wake up Bayern a little, and they equalized in majestic fashion; with Schweinsteiger nonchalantly making a difficult volley look routine. Rooney then did a nice swan lake impression to deviously get Schweinsteiger sent off, and add even more edge to the return leg. In the other match, plucky Atletico Madrid, Europe’s brave story of the season, knocked Barcelona off their aristocratic perch, with what can only be called an insane goal by Diego. Only to have Andres Iniesta slip a ‘grandmaster like pass’ (he being three moves ahead of all players on the pitch), for Neymar to calmly equalize. Two matches-simultaneously played; and constantly vying for remote preference. Hope tonight is no differ ...

UEFA CHAMPIONS QUARTER FINAL PRODUCES DOUBLE DRAWS: Tuesday saw the return of the Champions League, with the first pair of quarter-finals offering mouth-watering ties between Manchester United and Bayern Munich, and Barcelona and La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid. Both first legs turned out to be closer than expected, with out-of-form United holding reigning champions Bayern to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford and Atleti coming away from Camp Nou with the same scoreline. United ensured they go to the Allianz Arena next week with a fighting chance even though Nemanja Vidic's second-half header was cancelled out by Bastian Schweinsteiger - who was then sent off late in the game - on 66 minutes. United would happily have taken a draw after spending much of the first half chasing shadows as Bayern dominated possession with Toni Kroos orchestrating matters in midfield. The Germans enjoyed almost 80 per cent of the ball in the opening 45 minutes and came closest to scoring when Arjen Robben was denied by a superb one-h ...
Predictions for tonight, just for funutd 1-Bayern Munich 2 Barcelona 2 - Atletico Madrid 2 What does everyone else think ?
Ok, Boys and Girls , this weeks Top 10. Week of March 30 1. Bayern Munich (D 3-3) - clinched the Bundesliga title this week. And It's only March. 2. Liverpool (W 4-0) - Scary team at home. Benfica (W 1-0) - March is on to the title. Honorable Mention: Everton - one of the most consistent teams in the EPL. Games to watch this week: Bayern v ManU Barca v Atletico Real Madrid v Dortmond Chelsea v PSG Arsenal v Everton
Contenders to replace David Moyes at Manchester United: 1. Juergen Klopp Despite signing a new long-term contract with Borussia Dortmund last year, Juergen Klopp's team appears to be breaking up, with Robert Lewandowski set to follow Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich this summer. With Bayern disappearing over the horizon in the Bundesliga, could Klopp be tempted to move on and take the United job? Has two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League on his CV and his teams also play bold, attacking football. 2. Laurent Blanc A former United player, Laurent Blanc earned managerial experience with Bordeaux and France before taking over at Paris Saint-Germain last summer. PSG are now cruising to the Ligue 1 title, thanks to the backing of wealthy Qatari owners. Prising Blanc from PSG would not be easy, but he has the playing and coaching credentials that would earn instant respect from the Old Trafford squad. 3. Diego Simeone The Argentine is Europe's rising star after transforming the fortunes of Atletico Madrid, ma ...
Bayern Munich has already won the Bundesliga. In England, Man City may lose their next 3 games at will, but they will still win that league. Someone tell Arsenal that, even number 4 is not a guarantee, Everton is a few points behind with a game in hand. In Spain today, Barcelona v Celta de Vigo, Sevilla v Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid v Granada. Its tough this time round!
Mar 17, 2014 12:22:00 PM The Portugal international and the Premier League star both enjoyed a fruitful weekend, while Lionel Messi got his name in the mix with a history making hat-trick Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool's Luis Suarez continue to lead the way in the race for the European Golden Shoe, but Lionel Messi 's fine form for Barcelona in recent weeks has seen last year's winner storm into the top 10. Ronaldo netted once at the weekend to help Madrid to a vital 1-0 win over Malaga, while Suarez also took his tally to 25 following his goal in Liverpool's victory against Manchester United. Meanwhile, third-placed Diego Costa got the winner in Atletico Madrid's win over Espanyol to keep up his fine goalscoring run as well. PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Red Bull Salzburg hitman Jonatan Soriano both netted a double, but the winner of the week was Messi following his hat-trick in Barca's 7-0 win over Osasuna. Finally, Bayern Munich's Mario Mandzukic and Barcelona forward Alexis ...
So Manchester United face Champions League holders Bayern Munich at home first - David Moyes couldn't have asked for a tougher draw there. Chelsea take on PSG, which will see tow of the biggest egos in world football clash in ther form of Jose Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while Borussia Dortmund take on Real Madrid. Barcelona will face Atletico Madrid in an all-Spanish affair - that is a decent draw.
Manchester United draw Bayern Munich, Chelsea to face PSG in Champions League quarter-finals David Moyes' struggling side will have to better the holders to reach the semi-finals, while Barcelona and Atletico Madrid face off and Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund meet again The first legs will be played on April 1 or 2 before the second legs on April 8 or 9. THE QUARTER-FINAL DRAW Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea Manchester United vs Bayern Munich
Chelsea will knock out PSG, Man.u will knock out Bayern Munich, Real Madrid will out knock Borussia Dortmund & Atletico Madrid will knock out Barcelona YES/NO
My prediections: Barcelona v Atletico Madrid ~ This one will be tight, but I think experience will see Barqa through to the final four. Neymar and Messi will score enough goals to cover for Barqa's defensive deficiencies, and Puyol will be leaving it all out on the field in his final campaign. Barqa will win one for the Gipper and go through. Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund ~ Real Madrid will have more problems than people expect. Don't forget; Borussia Dortmund were the Bundesliga champions two seasons ago. They may appear to have faltered since, but a lot of that is due to Bayern Munich playing out of thier minds and destroying the Bundesliga each of the past two seasons. They won't be scared by Real's attack, and may actually grab a home victory. But it won't be enough; I see Real going through, especially after last year's disappointment. Bale will be the difference. Paris St Germain v Chelsea ~ Easily the premier matchup of this stage in the competition. Less than two years removed from their surpris ...

Euro giants await Champions League draw 21 March 2014, 06:33 Spanish clubs Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are all ready to take on Champions League title holders Bayern Munich if thrown together in Friday's quarterfinal draw. EUefa Champions League Preview Round16 Fixtures – 11 March 2014 • Bayern Munich vs. Arsenal (aggregate 2-0) • Atletico Madrid vs. AC Milan (aggregate 1-0) Bayern Munich vs. Arsenal (0-2) If there was any time for the Champions League to show its magic, its now. Arsenal will need the Spirit of the Cup to replicate that of a Jinni in a bottle, with 3 wishes and 3 goals. Arsenal has proven that they have the capability to defeat Bayern in their own backyard as they did last year. The 2-0 win last year flicked the switch in the brains of the Arsenal players, as they realized depleted the 11 point gap they had from 4th spot. Comparing the two potential line-ups, you would have to say that Bayern are the better side without a doubt. Bayern are a complete side with strength in depth in all departments, and it is difficult to find a weak link in their Arsenal. Arsene Wenger however believes that his side’s 4-1 FA Cup quarter-Final win over Everton, will eradicate any nerves for Tuesdays game. “I bel ...

PSG, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Manchester United, Real Madrid & Chelsea. It would be pretty cool if that happens.
Manchester United have added another striker to a growing list of potential summer transfer targets, reports the Daily Mail. David Moyes is looking to overhaul his Manchester United squad with as much £200m being set aside for a number of high profile transfers. The Manchester United manager will be looking to strengthen every area of the pitch with a new striker heavy on the agenda. A shortlist of targets has been drawn up by Moyes, thought to contain the likes of PSG's Edinson Cavani, Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa, Mario Mandzukic at Bayern Munich and now starlet Luciano Vietto. The Argentine striker has earned rave reviews for his performances for Argentinian outfit Racing Club and has quickly been labelled as the 'next Sergio Aguero'. At just 20-years-old, Vietto will represent a signing for the future for Moyes, with the striker having significantly less experience than the three aforementioned players. However, with Robin Van Persie still playing a prominent role in the team, Moyes may see the youn ...
