A punishment that should have come earlier Shakib Al Hasan has had discipline issues in the past, and had he been pulled up earlier this latest incident may not have occurred Less than 24 hours after his dressing-room misdemeanor, Shakib Al Hasan left the Shere Bangla National Stadium with a three-ODI ban and a heavy fine. The punishment may seem disproportionate to this particular crime, but it is a fair verdict for a man who has enjoyed lots of leeway as Bangladesh's No. 1 cricketer. Shakib's inappropriate gesture during the second ODI against Sri Lanka was the big incident waiting to happen, after several smaller ones over nearly four years were overlooked by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Shakib's first public outburst was in October 2010 but the incident was buried under his match-winning performance on that day, and the bigger picture was missed. He was on 92 in the fourth ODI against New Zealand when there was movement near the sightscreen that the umpires could not stop. After a few minutes Shakib, ...

Mirpur will host the first test from Jan 29 while Chittagong stages the second from Feb. 4, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said in a statement. Chittagong also hosts the two Twenty20 matches on Feb. 12 and 14 while Sylhet (Feb. 17) and Mirpur (Feb. 20 and 22) are the venues for the one-day internationals. If Bangladesh cricket wants to beat India, Australia, or Pakistan on a regular basis the Bangladesh Cricket Board must be outside the political grip of ruling govs. The gov must not select the chairman of the board but leave it to its members. Cricket Australia is untouched by political govs & Indian cricket improved after greater independence from its gov.
History of Bangladesh Cricket 1972: The Bangladesh Cricket Control Board is established. Soon after, a cricket league commences in Dhaka and Chittagong. It is a slow start, other things having priority in the war-torn country. 1974/75: A national level cricket tournament begins in the country. 1st division and 2nd division cricket leagues start at the districts level. Other tournaments that were organised included National Youth Cricket, Inter-university Cricket, College & School Cricket, Shahid Smriti Cricket, Damal Summer Cricket and Star Summer Cricket. 1976/77: Robin Marlar writes Whither Bangladesh?, a detailed description of Bangladesh cricket's state of affairs and a yearning to see Bangladesh in the international stage. Bangladesh Cricket Board officials become more alert and enthusiastic after this international exposure. After the completion of the 1975-76 domestic season, Bangladesh Cricket Control Board's acting secretary Reza-e-Karim writes to the International Cricket Council (then called th ...

Many cricketers are yet to be paid for their services in the second edition of Bangladesh Premier League. Cricketers requests the Bangladesh Cricket Board to take initiatives on the issue!
- There was a time when no nation was supportive to Bangladesh, International Cricket Council never considered Bangladesh as a test nation, at that time Pakistan Cricket Board stood up in the support of BCB and helped them in attaining the Test Cap. Then from time to time Pakistan helped Bangladesh to promote the game in their home. Now look the way we are being paid back. Pakistani Cricketers have been ignored for Dhaka Premier League by Bangladesh Cricket Board. The Chairman of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM), Jalal Younis told media that BCB has decided to ignore Pakistani players for the domestic competitions since the last edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The cricket governing body in Pakistan, PCB, last year decided against sending its players to Bangladesh for BPL. This decision was taken in the aftermath of Bangladesh’s decline from touring Pakistan. The relations between the two boards hit low when Pakistan mortified Bangladesh in the final of Asia Cup at Dhaka in 20 ...
BCB-PCB impasse affects Dhaka cricket league! There is uncertainty over the participation of Pakistan players in the upcoming Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, Bangladesh's domestic one-day competition, due to a strained relationship between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the PCB. With less than five days before the start of the league on September 10, none of the 12 Dhaka clubs have managed to confirm the services of a Pakistan player. This season, a club can field up to three foreign players during a match and can register 10 players during the season. However, according to the BCB, it has not received any no-objection certificates (NOCs) from the PCB, a situation similar to what occurred before start of the Bangladesh Premier League earlier this year. Wasim Akram was the biggest name from Pakistan to have played in the Dhaka league. Shahid Afridi, Abdur Razzak, Shoaib Malik and Imran Farhat have also played domestic cricket in the country; Farhat scored the first double-century in Bangladesh fir ...

Mohammad Ashraful's confession of his involvement in match-fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League has led to confusion over whether it amounts to a criminal offense. There are mixed opinions over whether and how to prosecute Ashraful since there are no specific laws on fixing in Bangladesh's legal system. Some believe that the case is quite straightforward as he has "cheated", which is a clear violation of the law of the land. Others, however, point towards a vacuum of laws, i.e. that the existing laws are not strong enough to charge him. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh has, according to the Dhaka-based The Daily Star, only discussed the controversy informally. The commission is following the developments and is still mulling whether or not to get involved since the Bangladesh Cricket Board itself is considered a regulatory body. The ACC chairman Golam Rahman has said that he is not in favour of being involved in the fixing issue. "There is a regulatory authority and that's the [Bangla ...
Ashraful, shameful Dhaka: The cricketing world was rocked on Tuesday by yet another fixing scandal with former Bangladesh captain Mohammed Ashraful being suspended for corruption, adding another sordid chapter to the spot-fixing saga which has already engulfed Indian cricket. More than a fortnight after the spot-fixing scandal broke out in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ashraful’s suspension is the latest case of corruption in cricket which has seen a number of cricketers being arrested in recent times. “As Ashraful has confessed his involvement in fixing to the ACSU team, so he should not be allowed to play any level of cricket until we get a full report of the investigation,” Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan told reporters. “I have spoken with Ashraful, he told me that he has confessed everything to the ASCU,” Hassan said, adding that the batsman had not disclosed details of his confession to him. “This is not punishment, this is a temporary measure until we get the f ...

Bangladesh batsman Naeem Islam and left-arm spinner Enamul Haque have been ruled out of two-test series against Sri Lanka after picking up injuries, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Monday.
Bangladesh named middle-order batsman Mominul Haque to replace Shakib Al Hasan in next month's Testseries against Sri Lanka after the star all-rounder was ruled out due to injury. Bangladesh will play two Tests, three one-dayers and one Twenty20 during their month-long tour of SriLanka, with the first Test starting at Galle on March 8. Shakib, the 25-year-old former national captain, willhave an operation in Australia this week for a shinbone injury which he has been suffering all season. "He is expected to be able to resume playing four to six weeks after the surgery," said Bangladesh Cricket Board physician Debashis Chowdhury, adding that Shakib would also need longer-term treatment for other injuries. Mominul Haque is a left-handed batsman and occasional spinner. Chief selector Akram Khan told AFP it would not be easy to manage without Shakib, especially against Sri Lanka in home conditions. Afghan players to get training at NCA From the Newspaper | Our Sports Reporter | 18th January, 2013 0 -File photo by AFP LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allowed the Afghanistan team to have a one-month training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Though the PCB has not made any official announcement in this regard, Dawn has learnt that the Afghan team may start the tour in the last week of January. Besides having training at the NCA, the Afghan team are expected to also play matches against different departmental and regional teams in Pakistan. The PCB, which in the past has also supported Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to become Test playing countries, is assisting Afghanistan cricket by allotting their team a match against those teams playing against Pakistan at neutral venues of the UAE.
Pakistan Super League (PSL) In Pakistan Or UAE ? There was lot of buzz around about Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the recent few days. Launching ceremony of PSL was also attended by heavy weight officials and star cricketers of Pakistan. PCB officials were and still are claiming that big stars of international cricket will be playing in PSL. However Cricket South Africa (South Africa cricket authority) and Cricket Australia (Australian cricket authority) have announced that their current international players will not participate in the upcoming PSL. It is also expected that Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) will also not send their cricketers in the PSL. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) didn’t allow Pakistani players to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) therefore there are bleak of chances of Bangladeshi cricketers to feature in PSL. New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies Zimbabwe are the remaining teams out of which New Zealand and England players may also not come. So c ...

The BPL governing council confirmed that all franchises paid the 25 per cent fees of the players before yesterday's deadline but member secretary IH Mallick said that two franchises -- Chittagong Kings and Sylhet Royals -- paid their respective players directly. The franchises were supposed to pay the money through the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as per prior agreement, so they definitely breached the contract by paying the money directly.
Tamim lifts Duronto to third place Print Edition User Rating: / 1 PoorBest TUESDAY, 05 FEBRUARY 2013 AUTHOR / SOURCE: SPORTS REPORTER DHAKA, Feb 4: Duronto Rajshahi surged to the third spot in the point- table of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with an emphatic seven-wicket win over Rangpur Riders at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday. On the BPL’s return to Dhaka after two weeks, Tamim Iqbal marked it with yet another swashbuckling knock while Jahurul Islam Omee played an entertaining knock but there was little crowd unlike Chittagong to cheer up. While Tamim set up Rajshahi’s fourth victory in their eighth match with 36 ball-50, Omee sealed the deal with a marauding knock. He was unbeaten on 38 off just 18 as Rajshahi cantered to the victory making 168 for three with an over to spare after Rangpur Riders posted a respectable 163 for three. Tamim struck four fours and two sixes on the course of his third half-century in the tournament which eased the pressure. His fellow opener Char ...

this time to think about Bangladesh Cricket Board' Professionalism,Since last year they are very unconsistent.
USA news Lack of funds holding USA T20 launch back Peter Della Penna USA Cricket Association president Gladstone Dainty has cited insufficient investment to cover initial operational costs and a lack of turf wicket venues in key markets for another delay to the proposed domestic Twenty20 league. ESPNcricinfo reported last week that Cricket Holdings America LLC, the partnership headed by USACA and New Zealand Cricket to stage a Twenty20 league in the USA, has pushed back the starting date for the league from 2013 to 2014. According to Dainty, who is also the chairman of CHA LLC, the organisers did not want to rush the start of the league with partial funding. They hope for enough revenue to make up the balance so that incidences of players not getting paid in time - as in last summer's T20 All-Star exhibition match in Toronto and reportedly, in the Bangladesh Premier League last year - can be avoided. "The bottom line is that we did not get all the money to have a quality league," Dainty told ESPNcricinfo. ...

Afridi urges world to end Pakistan isolation All-rounder Shahid Afridi has made an emotional appeal to the cricketing world to end Pakistan's four-year isolation over terror attacks. No international cricket has been played in Pakistan, which suffers near daily Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked violence, since gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan team bus in March 2009, killing eight Pakistanis and wounding seven visiting players. Minnows Bangladesh twice called off tours last year over security fears and the head of the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) has warned players not to take part in an inaugural Twenty20 tournament in March. Former captain Afridi said Pakistan has been sidelined and had "suffered because of being the frontline state in the war" against Islamist militants. "We are desperately trying to revive international cricket in our country and need co-operation but it's not coming," he told AFP on Thursday. For four years, Pakistan has been forced to play its home series at ne ...

Pakistan worth the risk - Mustard 1 February 2013 Updated 09:10 GMT By Sam Sheringham - BBC Sport Ex-England wicketkeeper Phil Mustard says he wants to play in the Pakistan Super League despite safety warnings. The international players' union (Fica) described the security situation in Pakistan as"unmanageable". But with top players being offered$100,000 (£63,000) for the two-week tournament, Mustard believes the rewards outweigh the risks. "I'd like to think that over the two weeks I could make a name for myself," Mustard told BBC Sport. "But it's an auction-based thing andI'm not going to go over to Pakistanand risk a few things for less than$100,000." Fica and England's Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA) have called on players to avoid the 25 March-7 April competition because of concerns over security in Pakistan, which has not hosted international cricket since gunmen attacked the Sri Lanka team bus in 2009. The governing bodies of Australia and South Africa have both indicated that they woul ...
Adbur Razzak adds voice to payments issue Rangpur Riders captain Abdur Razzak has said his team's players have been playing "free of cost" in this season of the Bangladesh Premier League because they haven't been paid yet. Razzak's comments come a day after Owais Shah, the Dhaka Gladiators batsman, complained he had not been paid the first installment (25%) of his $75,000 paycheck. The Riders are third in the tournament with three wins, after they went down to Sylhet Royals by five wickets on Thursday. "Our focus is bound to be hampered," Razzak said. "The foreign players in my team are feeling insecure. Our owner has told us the payments will be cleared before the second round. It would be great if it happens because we are all professional cricketers. We have played free of cost so far, so there have been discussions among the players." Razzak said he hoped the owners understood that cricket was the only source of income for most of the players, but wasn't certain he would see all the money. "I am not s ...
Early career Tamim, who played in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka, was picked for the 2007 World Cup and played against India in the group stage of the competition, scoring 51 runs from 53 deliveries, helping his team win the match. In December that year, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) granted Tamim a one-year grade C contract, one of 22 central contracts with the Board at the time. Although he was still in the lowest tier of central contracts, it was an extension form his previous contract, which lasted six months. Although he was part of the player auction held in February for the 2009 Indian Premier League, Tamim was not bought by any team. On Bangladesh's tour of the West Indies in July and August 2009, Tamim scored his maiden Test century against a West Indies team weakened by disputes between players and administrators, which resulted in seven players making their Test debut in the match, His effort with the bat helped Bangladesh to a historic victory – their first agains ...

The price of tickets of Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium's East Stand gallery for the BPL-2 matches have been reduced by Tk 55 to spur the game's popularity, reports UNB. BCB sources said, each tickets of the Prime Bank BPL Season-2 at the East Stand Gallery of Mirpur Stadium will now be sold at Tk 245 instead of Tk 300. To bring down the ticket price, the organisers, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), had earlier negotiated with the sponsors, Game On Sport Limited, who holds the ticketing rights for BPL Season 2. Meanwhile, Game On Limited sold the ticket rights of 45 matches for Tk 200 million (20 crore) to Active Services, an event management company of Bangladesh, while the negotiation was going on. However, all the concerned parties arrived at a decision to cut by Tk 55 the price of tickets of East Stand Gallery of the stadium where the BPL matches will be played.

Bangladesh Cricket Board denied PCB's claims that it did not follow official procedure for approaching players for BPL:
Dhaka Gladiators batsman Owais Shah has appeared in 11 Twenty20 line-ups over the past decade; this experience gives him the right to judge which tournaments can be categorised as good, and which are sub-standard. After his successful Bangladesh Premier League debut for the Dhaka Gladiators, Shah said it is too early to judge just where this Twenty20 league stands, though he felt comfortable playing for his new team. "There is a lot of stuff [that counts]. Like organisation, the way the grounds are maintained, the facilities provided for the players to practice, and also how the entire tournament progresses over the four orfive weeks," Shah said. "I think everything seems to be in place here. It is organised and it seems good, so hopefully that will go on for the whole month." Shah has had stints with Cape Cobras, Delhi Daredevils, Essex, Hobart Hurricanes, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Kolkata Knight Riders, Middlesex, Rajasthan Royals, Wellington and, now,Dhaka Gladiators. Bangladesh Cricket Board says that they are surprised at PCB's claim that they were kept out of process while signing players for BPL.
Finally , Bangladesh Cricket Board ( BCB ) decided to not send their team to Pakistan .
Bangladesh board didn't follow protocol - PCB - The PCB has said the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the organisers of the BPL had not followed the correct procedures with regards to signing Pakistan players, and has given that as the reason for their non-participation in Bangladesh's Twenty20 league. The Pakistan players, the PCB said, had been auctioned in Dhaka without permission and without any intimation from the BCB. "There are great embarrassments when boards are bypassed and players approached directly," a PCB spokesman said. "This was regrettably felt by BCB when they approached PCB at the last moment for release of the players for their league. "As per practice and procedures in vogue, a home board has to approach the visiting players' parent board seeking release of its players for their domestic cricket competitions. In BPL's case, BCB, their representatives or the players' agents were in contact directly with the Pakistan players and PCB was kept out of this process. Even the auction of Pa ...

PCB yet to decide on allowing Pakistani players in BPL only if BCB commits. PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf made it clear that after Bangladesh Cricket Board twice backed out of its commitment to tour Pakistan, there was no moral binding to send players for the league. "There is no moral binding on us after the BCB's refusal to send its team for a second time. We now have to look at the players commitments and workloads before deciding what to do," he said. Ashraf indicated that the PCB could review its stance on the BPL in special circumstances. "If the Bangladesh board is willing to make some commitment we can look into it," he said. A reliable source in the PCB said the Board had already made it clear to the BCB that Pakistani players would only be given NOC's to take part in the BPL after a written agreement between both boards. "The BCB has said they will respond back to us in a few days. But the board wants an agreement under which not only will the BCB commit to sending its team to Pakistan for a short se ...

The path towards a “Dead End.” Where is Bangladesh cricket heading? What is the future of our most beloved sports? Will we ever leave the path of failure and corruption and start our journey towards prosperity and glory? Can anyone respond to these questions honestly? Well, the day Bangladesh Cricket Board can answer these questions, we will know that finally a change is coming our way but for now, it’s all going wrong for BCB. Behind every success story, there is planning, there is dedication, there is an outstanding effort. All these factors are currently missing from Bangladesh cricket at the moment. However what is most frustrating from a fan’s perspective is watching Bangladesh Cricket Board heading towards a completely wrong direction which leads to nothing but a “dead end” for our cricket. All these franchise setups, attempts to stadium renovation; tournament planning is NOT the proper initiative at the moment to develop the infrastructure of a poor system.
