Awards Banquet

Leadership Award Annual Meeting Year Award Los Angeles Holiday Party Silent Auction

I prayed all morning that I would have a good treatment today so I could go with my husband and the kids to an awards banquet. And I did! We all got ready my hair was done, the pearls were on. Then Emma had a seizure. I'm not gonna lie, I had a bit of a selfish moment. I was wanting to have a night out with the family. The kids and I stayed Home and Josh went on his way. I know this is what God is allowing in our lives right now but I don't always like it. I'm so thankful my mom and sister came over to get me out of my self pity mode. It was not the evening out I had planned but it was a good evening. I am thankful to have the love and support of my family 💗

I've been nominated for the Martial Arts Hall of Fame, again. I receive two or three nominations per year, sent by organizers who know nothing about me. There are countless Hall of Fames that try to flatter my students and I to attend their awards banquet, dinner and celebrity photo-op, for a fee of course. When you see local McDojo owners advertising themselves as Hall of Fame members, know that it's nothing more than false advertising and a money racket.

When I was in high school, I participated in a few team sports such as volleyball, and tennis. But track & field was the cherry on my ice cream sundae! I loved afternoon practice, being out in the sun and being a part of such a huge team. I muddled through, didn't complain, did my job, but wasn't much of a stand out. I'm sure the coaches noticed that I wasn't going to "put them on the map", so I got marginal instruction. Sure...I enjoyed the camaraderie and had a great time. It was high school and I needed a place where I felt like I belonged. When I began my studies at Fullerton Junior College, I walked into the track coach's office, introduced myself and asked about joining the team. Coach Kiefer was his name, and he was genuinely excited that I was there. At 18, I had never had that kind of reaction. Because this was a J.C., their team is comprised of walk-ons. You can't exactly recruit athletes. In other words...Kiefer is gonna take what he can get. On my first day of practice, he put me through an .. ...

She has worked so hard and is only a sophmore so i know she will continue to improve. She has some great coaches!

I should have put this lengthy thing of Banned Books Cafe but ... Cries from the Wilderness/for Wilderness: Some Thoughts on “Respect & Speaking Out” Before Heading to Mass This Morning (2/9/14) pbm . I certainly appreciated Sam Hijazi’s heart-felt words in his column on respect in the Seguin Gazette this week, and know I will have similar appreciation for Alphonso Rincon’s presentation concerning this subject at the Annual LULAC Awards Banquet this evening. (I really do love what many friends and family around me are trying to do to respect and save a few starfish, even as I think we need a system which respects and saves them all. And I have to add, that at least some of my friends and family are truly trying hard to both help individuals and develop better systems for quality life for all.) What follows is something I began writing this past weekend after hearing a discussion on socially responsible investing in our conventional capitalistic systems. . I did wrestle with the essence of pr ...

FROM CCHA: Attention all 2012 CCHA exhibitors: The board had originally planned for our Awards Banquet to be held March 9th at the NHC Arboretum with a pot luck dinner. However, Mother Nature had other plans and forced us to reschedule our first show of the year. The only available date was March 9th for the Park, without being a week away from our Spring Fling show. After much discussion, we have decided that it is best for our horses, exhibitors, and volunteers, to instead have all awards ready for you at the first show. We felt rushing the show to meet at 6 pm, possibly with a few with trailers in tow, would not be fair to anyone! Therefore, we have decided that exhibitors, at any time Saturday, may pick up their awards at the show. Please help us spread the word! We also plan to have an opportunity for you to get your picture taken (with or without your horse) for your 2012 achievements. We sincerely hope you understand our decision, and hope to see you this Saturday. Congratulations to all of you on ...

I was driving home today from the Awards Banquet in FairField and was listing to oldies and just cruising down hwy 80 and thinking how lucky I am right now to have a nice home in a place that I love and have most of my friends right here too. I like the fact that where ever I go it is all fwy and time goes by fast. It was 75 miles to Fairfield from Auburn and it didn't take any time at all except when the traffic slowed for a accident but even then it kept moving. Coming home was even faster. It took me a half hour just to get across town in Santa Rosa.

As I prepare the year-end receipts I am so very thankful and pray for all that made it possible. Today on our Destiny Road Journey post I want us to think on the subject of “Seed for the Sower.” In the Book of Acts (book of action) we are given this account about giving; “You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my own needs and to the men who were with me. In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘IT IS MORE BLESSED TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE.’” When he had said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.” (Acts 20:34-36). ~~ As we fur ...

We actually started our 2012 season and wrapped up our 2011 season with a very good Awards Banquet on February 24. March 10,17 and 24 we opened the track for hot laps and this worked out very well with real good numbers for the last 2 sessions. March 31 was opening night. A real good crowd on hand despite a rather cool and cloudy 55 degrees. We had 20 cars on hand. We ran 2 dashes, 5 heats and 3 features. We only had 2 Sportsmen which was rather prophetic for the season! A strong field f 9 Mini Stocks were on hand, 8 Mini Thunder Cars and 1 Hornet. NO Street Stocks, against prophetic. John Poulson was the only Hornet Steven Woods won the Sportsmen over Jacob Maynard, Todd Roberts won the MTC feature, Roberts, Chris Walsworth and Joe Gravenstuk won MTC heats. Josh Dunnuck won the Mini Stock feature, Bobby Laughter won the dash and heat wins went to Allen Tink and Dunnuck. ...

The total amount budgeted for this program will be $400.00. A committee . ...

Haven’t posted in FB for a while now. Been working like crazy, all thanks to the most High, and I certainly have a lot to be thankful for. Over the past month my group has had the opportunity to perform at a lot of incredible events including The Jessie Jackson’s Rainbow Push event in Atlanta, where we had the privilege to play for Rev Jesse Jackson Sr, Tip "T.I." Harris, Senator Gale Davenport, Demetria Mckinney, Robin Herbert- Latimore and a host of other incredible people. My group also had the privilege of performing for Thomas W. Dortch Jr. and the Atlanta City Council at the Whitney Young Jr. service awards banquet. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to travel every weekend and perform with different groups including Jerry Freeman and Jason P. Freeman's Big Swing band, which has one of the sickest horn sections on the planet! This past month and year has truly been a blessing in so many ways, and I just certainly have to thank God for it all. I also want to thank every one who has came out at s . ...

One year ago today our oldest daughter, Mariah, was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia and an unknown illness. The unknown illness turned out to be a rare virus called Steven's Johnson Syndrome. It ravaged her body and she was unable to eat. Blisters on her eyelids and eyeballs, in her mouth, on her tongue, down her throat, in her nose, and on her lips, caused her great pain and complications. She suffered in the hospital for 24 days. She spent last Thanksgiving in a hospital dark and quiet especially since the infection made her eyes very sensitive to light. Yet, she declared to visitors and her nurses, "This is the best Thanksgiving of my life!" To our surprise, it wasn't a joke. She was genuinely thankful for oh so much. Pretty remarkable to me. What a difference a year makes and how grateful we are for her complete healing. Last night, we were at her DVHS Swim/Dive team awards banquet where our come back kid won the scholarship, high point earner for the team award, and the team anchor aw ...
