"Dear President Karzai, It is time to leave behind dogmas and costumes from the past. The world has changed since the revelation was made to Muhammad. God has given us new truths, to make us wiser and to make our lives better. In the past few centuries we've been witnessing more and more women proving they are as capable as any man. Queen Elizabeth I, Mary Shelley, Joan of Arc, Simone de Beauvoir, Cleopatra, Princess Isabel of Brazil, Amelia Earhart, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Indira Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Cíxǐ Tàihòu, Angela Merkel, Margaret Thatcher are just few examples of many women who left an important mark in history. Talented and important women are also mothers, sisters and daughters, but many of them never had the chance to prove how good they are, since they're denied to master their own future. so it has to come to this that now I picture Margaret Thatcher as Meryl Streep and Aung San Suu Kyi as Michelle Yeoh.
Saw a great movie called "The Lady"(2011) about Aung San Suu Kyi. It has the actress who did the older geisha from the movie "Memoirs of the Geisha" (Michelle Yeoh) & David Thewlis from "War Horse" acting as Michael Aris, Aung San Suu Kyi's husband. Great acting by both of them founded by a great script. I compare this to the "Iron Lady" which I was really disappointed. It was a great acting by Meryl Streep as always accompany by a great actor - Jim Broadbent who plays Denis Thatcher, but the script was awful. Didn't really deal with her political side to the depth you expect to with a political icon such as Margaret Thatcher. I know the director was aiming for an angle more of a human perspective of Thatcher. But, you talking MARGARET THATCHER for pete's sake? Come on don't wimp out. well that was i think, if Phyllida Lloyd (director) had the guts to tackle her political side it would of got a better review. It's only 6.4 on Imdb come on with a subject as Thatcher & an actress like Meryl Streep. That wa . ...
