A couple of days ago, we alerted you concerning this year's Bilderberg conference. This is a once a year conference where many of the world's elite come together to discuss their plans, essentially, to dominate the planet. The main stream media is blocked from covering this event, except for the occasional chuckle from a Charles Krauthammer, in an attempt to discredit anyone from believing such conspiracy theories. But the event is real. The attendees are heads of state, heads of transnational corporations, central bankers, and invited guests. Curiously enough, one of this years invitees is Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. Go figure. Getting to the point, here is a clip from 2007 outside of the event where Bilderberg author Daniel Estulin offers the low down on what the Bilderbergers had decided to do. Now this was late May, 2008. Estulin details that the Bilderbergers had decided to run the price of oil up to $150/bbl, and to destroy the American and world economies by leading a frenzy of speculation in ...

A Message to Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed: When you send your entourage' of evil men who laugh while ripping down homeless people's tents, boxes, huts and other places they call home with bull dozers, please at least have the decency and humility to stop by a day or so before to let them know the Kasim wrecking crew is on it's way. This might give these precious people a chance to gather what few possessions they own and move out of the way. I appreciate the fact you want to "protect the beauty of your lovely city" by removing these unsightly homesteads (and apparently in most city officials eyes) villion's from your right of ways but please use Godly methods and principles in doing so. My first suggestion would be to do unto others as you would have them do unto you and the second would be to remember these are your neighbors of which you are commanded by God to love as yourself. Final note: Millions of dollars spent on the new Atlanta Streetcar project will give your city great recognition over the entire c ...

Don’t Put On Your Stupid Hat Another snowstorm, another fiasco, or three. Tens of thousands of North Carolinians are stuck on highways in Charlotte and Raleigh as another state can’t manage a snowstorm. And a tempest erupts in New York City as kids are sent to school despite a forecast of 8 to 12 inches of snow. Meanwhile in Georgia, Governor Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed get high marks for quickly learning the lessons of the debacle two weeks ago and doing things right for Winter Storm Pax. They put out a strong message well in advance of the storm, but mostly they showed leadership by making it clear that they were closing the City of Atlanta and state operations in 91 counties. Period. The tone of the announcement was forceful and direct, and essentially dared businesses to even think about forcing employees to get out on the roads. In North Carolina, the National Weather Service had Winter Storm Warnings out for Charlotte and Raleigh a day in advance. The text was a strongly worde ...

Hey ATL friends. The Dept of Transportation is recommending all Monday evening activities be canceled in order to keep the roads clear for service vehicles to pre-treat the roads following rush hour Monday evening. Please cooperate so we can avoid a repeat of two weeks ago. I've canceled my evening plans...you can too. CNN: The city of Atlanta and Georgia say they're being proactive this time, unlike two weeks ago when the storm snuck up on Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, resulting in citizen inconvenience and outrage. The governor apologized to the public and promised to handle things differently next time. "I'm the governor, the buck stops with me," he said. On Sunday the Georgia Department of Transportation said it would start treating roads with sand and salt after the Monday evening rush hour. Supplies from southern Georgia are being brought to the Atlanta metro area, said transportation department spokeswoman Natalie Dale. Deal also gave the National Guard a warning order, an adva ...
Doubts persist as Savannah port project moves ahead Posted: 2:04 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 By Dan Chapman - The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Georgia, after nearly 20 years of study, delay and frustration, is on the brink of federal approval to deepen the Savannah River and harbor to 47 feet. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed says that’s not deep enough. He’s already pushing a 50-foot deep harbor. Plans to deepen the Savannah River have been in the works since 1996.  All of Savannah’s competitors, including ports in Charleston, Miami, Norfolk, Baltimore and New York, are 50 feet or plan to go that deep to handle bigger ships that could traverse an expanded Panama Canal. The future of global shipping, and billions of dollars in trade and cargo, might depend on deeper water. Reed fears the port of Savannah – an economic and jobs boon for Atlanta – could lose the long-term battle for East Coast port supremacy. Nothing comes easily for the nearly $700 million Savannah deepening project. A litany of potentia ...
Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 2-3-14 MARTA mostly just kept moving Buses, trains also faced challenges. By Andria Simmons As the roads and interstates that snake through metro Atlanta sat paralyzed in last week’s frigid grip, MARTA, for the most part, kept moving. No, the mass transit authority wasn’t unscathed by the three days of ice and snow. Trains ran less frequently because many MARTA employees couldn’t make it in through the epic gridlock, and bus service was canceled entirely one day because it was unsafe to go out on the road. “Staff doesn’t have a supersecret highway to drive to work on,” said MARTA Chief Operating Officer Rich Krisak. But while leaders in Georgia — from Gov. Nathan Deal to Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed to Georgia Emergency Management Director Charley English — are under a microscope over their handling of the crisis, MARTA decision-makers are largely out of the spotlight. “The ice storm was a difficult set of circumstances for every governmental entity throughout m ...

Reed battles back against criticism on national stage with round of network interviews By Greg Bluestein and Katie Leslie The Atlanta Journal-Constitution A frustrated Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed struck a defiant tone in television appearances Thursday morning, battling back against criticisms he was ill-prepared for Winter Storm Leon and calling out TV networks for broadcasting images of stranded drivers outside city limits. His appearances on The Today Show and MSNBC comes a day after NBC’s meteorologist Al Roker roundly criticized the mayor and Gov. Nathan Deal for what he called “poor planning” ahead of the well forecast storm which left untold thousands stranded in their cars on icy interstates and forced children to stay overnight in schools. Reed took pains to define his jurisdiction from that of the state and schools, noting his lack of control over interstates and school closings. Asked by Matt Lauer whether he had the best information possible ahead of the storm, Reed said “It’s not solel ...

I love Erin Burnett and I'm happy to see her back from maternity leave, but score one for Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed!
1 day after storm, Atlanta highways still gridlocked ATLANTA (AP) — Students spent the night on buses or at schools, commuters abandoned their cars or idled in them all night and the highways-turned-parking lots iced over when a winter storm slammed the city, creating a treacherous traffic jam that lasted into Wednesday. It wasn't clear exactly how many people were still stranded out on the roads nearly 24 hours after the storm slammed the Deep South on Tuesday. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said it was "a lot of people," and officials were working to get them food, water, gas and eventually a way home. The timing of when things would clear was also uncertain because temperatures were not expected to be above freezing for very long, meaning the roads may not have a chance to thaw. "I'm not thinking about a grade right now," Reed said when asked about the city's response. "I'm thinking about getting people out of their cars." The rare snowstorm deposited mere inches of snow, and yet it was more than enough to ...

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Deputy Consul General Monique Vanderpool and Bahamas Consul General to Atlanta, Hon. Randy E. Rolle paid a recent courtesy call to Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. Accompanied by Deputy Consul General Monique Vanderpool, Rolle who considers himself a self-professed Falcons fan, was shown the Mayor’s personal collection of items from Atlanta’s NFL team while touring his office. In turn, the Mayor revealed his love for The Bahamas, which lures him to vacation there annually during the winter. Atlanta candidates and organizations take PARC Pledge for new and improved parks and green space By Maria Saporta City elections will be held Nov. 5 — and there is one issue where virtually all the candidates — incumbents and challengers alike — agree. Atlanta needs more parks and green space, and Atlanta needs to maintain the parks and green space it already has. And just to make sure that political leaders will be held accountable when they’re in office, they are asked to sign the PARC Pledge when they are running for office. “We have received signed endorsements from every member of City Council as well as (contenders) Andrew Dickens and Mary Norwood,” said Michael Halicki, executive director of Park Pride, which is championing the PARC Pledge initiative along with dozens of other local organizations and park advocates. “And we are not done. We are going to continue to push on that to get more pledges.” On Friday afternoon. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed also made it clear he was on board. ...
Atlanta and College Park sign tax deal in final hours Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 BY JOHNNY EDWARDS AND KATIE LESLIE - THE ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has signed on to a deal divvying up local option sales tax revenue with Fulton County and its cities, averting the risk of losing $240 million in annual revenue countywide. Atlanta and College Park were the holdouts in the deal backed by Fulton County and 12 other cities, a plan that reduces Atlanta’s annual share by $5.8 million per year over the 10-year life of the tax. The city’s annual share of the tax revenue now will be $96 million. Reed and College Park Mayor Jack Longino signed the deal Thursday, ahead of a state-imposed deadline. Had they not signed and given Fulton County a unanimous agreement, collection of the county’s 1 cent per dollar sales tax could have been at risk, state attorneys had warned. “Hopefully, it seals the deal,” Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves said. LOST funds, a pot of money fed by ...

Campaign finance reports reveal the races to watch in Atlanta BY KATIE LESLIE - THE ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION With Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed expected to coast into his second term, two citywide races involving his strongest allies have emerged as the contests to watch in this fall’s elections. In an Atlanta Journal-Constitution review of campaign finance reports released this week, the two at-large races each reveal credible challengers with real money to burn. In one corner, former Reed mayoral opponent Mary Norwood and Councilman Aaron Watson are going head-to-head for the seat Norwood once held. The veteran politicians have each raised six figures to carry them to the polls in November. While Watson, a former Board of Education member, has more cash to spend, Norwood carries strong name recognition from her heated 2009 race. Norwood at campaign headquarters in 2009. In the other, Andre Dickens, a little-known candidate with the backing of former Mayor Shirley Franklin, has $61,000 in cash to take o ...

Morris Brown rejects $10 million city bailout BY ERNIE SUGGS - THE ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION Trustees of bankrupt Morris Brown College have rejected an offer of nearly $10 million in taxpayer money from Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, which would have erased the school’s $35 million debt and resolved its legal woes. That rejection, Reed said, imperils not only the school’s future, but the city’s vision of revitalizing the area around the campus and the Georgia Dome in conjunction with the new Atlanta Falcons stadium. In response, Morris Brown’s lawyer said the city’s offer wasn’t good enough, because it covered the school’s debts but provided no operating funds. She said the college has an even better deal on the table — a claim Reed and other city officials characterized as hard to believe. The mayor’s biggest fear, he said, is that most of the campus, which is directly west of the preferred site for the new stadium, will be sold off piecemeal, becoming home to liquor stores, payday loan s ...

ATLANTA — Falcons President and CEO Rich McKay on Wednesday told a skeptical Atlanta City Council that if the deal the team negotiated for a new $948 million, retractable-roof stadium does not come to fruition, the organization would be forced to look for a better deal elsewhere in the metro area. McKay said it was not a threat, but with the Falcons’ lease for the Georgia Dome set to end in 2017, the team does not want to stay in the building that it has called home since 1992 beyond that point. “We just don’t believe it makes any sense,” he said of extending the dome’s lease. The comments came as the start of what Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday was a “big public conversation” on the stadium. In this case, the forum was the City Council’s finance/executive committee. Depending on the final funding mechanism chosen for the stadium — a project that is not universally popular among the public — the City Council might have to vote to approve it . ...
