Am watching Marigolds in August on Magic World, starring Winston Ntshona,John Kani and Athol Fugard. Great actors, great script.
I had a glimpse into the prison experience of Nelson Mandela when John Martins and I performed in a play by the South African playwright Athol Fugard, "The Island" at Earlham College. I performed the role made famous by South African actor Winston Ntshona. I remember vividly the emotions that were stirred especially in the wake of US Rep. Charles Rangel's efforts to get US and other companies to divest from South Africa in an effort to end apartheid (properly pronounced like apart hate). RIP sincerely Former President Mandela.

Athol Fugard/John Kani/Winston Ntshona's "Sizwe Banzi Is Dead" did so much to raise awareness of horrors of apartheid.
Remembering the wonderful play 'The Island' by Athol Fugard, John Kani & Winston Ntshona - portrayed so powerfully
Don’t miss an exclusive preview of “The Island” starring Atandwa Kani (Son of John Kani)and Nata Ramabulana, directed by legendary actor John Kani, at the Barney Simon Theatre, The Market Theatre on Thursday 21st February 2012. A play within a play, The Island was first performed in 1973, written by Athol Fugard, Winston Ntshona and Kani himself, and some say this piece helped persuade the USA to impose sanctions on apartheid South Africa. Hosted by Gabriel's school, Kairos School of Inquiry, tickets cost R140 each. Act fast, we are restricted to only 114 seats. Proceeds will go towards a video camera and playground equipment for our rapidly expanding school. Please contact me if you are interested. Thanks :)
