Condemn the death Arunachal Pradesh student in South Delhi and atrocities towards northeast community in Delhi:
Forgotten fighter of Arunachal - Work on promised memorial yet to begin PRANAB KUMAR DAS Pasighat, Aug. 13: Matmur Jamoh carries his name with pride steeped in history that is over a century old, a pride that is rekindled particularly on certain occasions. Like Independence Day, for instance. A man by the same name had killed British assistant political officer of the time, Noel Williamson, at Komsing village, while another band of his followers killed one Dr Gregorson at Pangi, both in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, on March 31, 1911. The village chief of Yagrung, nearly 20km from here, had at last avenged the humiliation he had suffered at the hands of Williamson two years before the twin strikes by the Adi warriors he led. “He was my great, great grandfather,” Matmur says of the braveheart, removed from each other by three generations. “I remember him each time the country celebrates Independence Day. He did not like the British supremacy and their interference in the lives of his peop ...

North East India – Insurgency and Other Issues The Northeast region of India comprising of eight states – Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim. North East India is a region poorly connected to the Indian mainland by a small corridor – Silghuri Corridor (also known as Chicken Neck – with a narrow width of only 23 kilometers.). North Eastern India has been facing problems of insurgency for near 5 decades, but things are now settling down and peace started to prevail. What is insurgency? An insurgency is an armed rebellion against a constituted authority when those taking part in the rebellion are not recognized as belligerents. Incase of Indian scenario it can be seen as armed rebellion and violent protests against Indian Government or authority. Insurgency in North East India Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and Tripura had been witnessing conflict since 1950-60 period, but since 1990, the intensity of conflicts started to decrease. Now the only state where prominent ins ...

Chinese Troops Prevented from Constructing Road in Arunachal . Arunachal Pradesh, much like eastern Ladakh,...
Arunachal Pradesh, much like eastern Ladakh, continues to be a major flashpoint between India and China, with Indian troops recently blocking attempts by the People’s Liberation Army soldiers to once again construct a road in the Asaphila region. While the Asaphila incident did not lead to a prolonged military face-off, unlike the serious ones at Chumar and Demchok in eastern Ladakh last month, it’s an indication of the continuing shadow-boxing between the two countries all along the 4,057-km long Line of Actual Control. Both armies undertake regular patrols to lay claim to “8-10 disputed areas” like Asaphila, a remote 100 sq km area along the LAC in Upper Subansiri division of Arunachal, as well as the so-called “Fish Tail-I and II” areas in Chaglagam sector, which take their name from the shape the LAC takes in the region. Sources said the PLA’s “heightened activity” was been witn ...

BUREAUCRATS RELUCTANT TO WORK IN DELHI Political uncertainty in the national capital has not only taken a toll on infrastructural development projects, but has also affected the day-to-day functioning of the city administration. The main reason for this is the reluctance of a large number of bureaucrats to join the administration. Several key posts in the administration have been lying vacant as a result of which work in many departments has been badly affected. There is a shortage of over two dozen senior officials. Of the 103 posts for IAS in the administration, 56 of these are considered as senior duty posts. The senior duty posts are for bureaucrats with experience of 12 years or more. The shortage of senior officials can be gauged from the fact that 12 crucial departments, including finance, power, home, general administration, information technology, revenue, higher education, tourism, planning, social welfare, New Delhi Municipal Council and chief electoral office, are either without their top-most ...

This Video Showing the True Beauty Of India. I'm very proud to present " India : Moving Images " Part 1, my beloved personal project I have been working on. I want to change the conventional perception of what "India" is, beyond the bullock carts and snake charmers! I funded my idea by shooting weddings, my project involved months of travel to some stunning natural and architechural wonders in India. In the past 4 months, I have shot over 2million images and I have compiled some of them here for Part 1 of my project. The locations vary from Spiti Valley in the Himalayas to Beaches of Andaman Islands, Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh) from North Eastern India to Taj Mahal in Agra etc. There is just so much more to see! (Hint : Part II ) I have had a wholesome learning experience through this project and had an opportunity to meet so many new people who have inspired me in different ways. I would encourage all you to just pack your bags and travel, it is just the initial bump of uncertainity which comes in our way ...
The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya scheme was introduced by the Government of India in August 2004, then integrated in the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan program, to provide educational facilities for girls belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, minority communities and families below the poverty line in Educationally Backward Blocks. Objective Gender disparities still persist in rural areas and among disadvantaged communities. Looking at enrolment trends, there remain significant gaps in the enrolment of girls at the elementary level as compared to boys, especially at the upper primary levels. The objective of KGBV is to ensure access and quality education to the girls of disadvantaged groups of society by setting up residential schools with boarding facilities at elementary level.[1] Coverage The scheme has been implemented in 27 states and union territories: Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himacha ...

Congress-mukt Bharat? India's grand old party is struggling For the Congress, which has ruled India for more than 50 of its 67 years since Independence, the latest defeats in Maharashtra and Haryana will again force another bout of soul-searching. India's grand old party, surely, has lot to soul-search about lately. Nationally, it has been reduced to 44 seats in the Lok Sabha. Now, it is fast losing control over states as well. The party is now in power in only 11 of India's 29 states, two of them in alliance with regional parties. The party is now in the saddle only in Karnataka, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir. What's more, there are worrying signs in Jammu and Kashmir, where it has parted ways with ally National Conference for the next assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has made "Congress-mukt Bharat" (Congress-free India) one of its political battle cries, i ...

With eye on China, India to develop disputed border region New Delhi -- India has eased restrictions on building roads and military facilities along its disputed border with China, as the new government seeks to close the gap on its neighbour's superior transport network and take a stronger stance on Beijing. Environment minister Prakash Javadekar told Reuters he had relaxed environmental rules within 100 km (62 miles) of the contested border in remote Arunachal Pradesh in order to speed up construction of some 6,000 km of roads. The move, which also allows for the construction of army stations, arms depots, schools and hospitals in the sparsely populated Himalayan region, was announced days before Chinese President Xi Jinping visits India on Sept. 17-18. "This is about defence preparedness," said Javadekar. "On the Chinese side of the border, not only have they built good roads, they are building up their railway network. Our army faces problems because of the bad quality of roads," he added. Work on the ...

The recent deployment of Sukhoi - 30 MKI fighters, Akash surface - to - air missile squadrons,BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles in the North East is a clear indication that India is treating North East as a buffer region. If there is exchange of missiles between China and India the North East people are the ones to suffer as they fall in the war zone staged by missiles and tanks. As such Army is also planning to deploy artillery and tank brigades along the Arunachal Pradesh border. Submitted by James Khangenbam
Why do the Chinese want a train to Sikkim? China is spending billions of dollars to improve infrastructure in Tibet and other parts of its border with India. Claude Arpi explains why New Delhi can't afford to ignore Beijing's plans. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Photograph: Wikimedia CommonsIndia dreams to catch up with China in infrastructure. Whether it is highways, bullet trains or airports in remote corners of the Middle Kingdom, China is way ahead compared to India which struggles to develop a decent infrastructure, particularly in the Himalayas. But the Communist leadership in Beijing is apparently not satisfied. It wants to increase the pace of its own development, especially on its borders with India. Xinhua announced that Beijing was soon to upgrade the road network in Tibet 'to make travels on The Roof of the World much easier.' For whom, is the question! The Chinese transport ministry affirmed that China will expand its road network to 110,000 km by 2020 in the Tibetan Autonomous Region alone. Tha ...
