Francis Coquelin will make Arsenal sweat by refusing to commit his future to the club . Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed on Friday that the 23-year-old defensive midfielder, so impressive in the 2-0 victory over Manchester City last weekend, had been offered a new long-term extension to his contract, which is due to expire in the summer . Coquelin is happy with the terms of the new deal and is keen to stay on at the Emirates, but he will take the coming weeks to *** whether or not Wenger finally sees him as a regular starter before making his final decision. The Frenchman’s future could well hinge on Jack Wilshere’s return to the Arsenal squad after recuperating from the ankle ligament damage he suffered against Manchester United at the end of November. Wilshere's return to the team could signal Coquelin’s return to being just a squad player, which means he will study other offers in the summer when he will be a free agent.

SPORTS NEWZ 23 JAN FRIDAY Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has backed-up his ex-England team-mate Jamie Carragher by ripping into the craze of taking post-match dressing room pictures. Three of Fifa's biggest sponsors - Castrol, Continental and Johnson & Johnson - have severed ties with football's beleaguered world governing body. Arsene Wenger savoured a landmark away win for his side and said it gave Arsenal greater confidence ahead of a spell that could define the destiny of his team. The Gunners won 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium, recording their first away win against Manchester City, Manchester United or Chelsea since 2010. The victory, which was secured by goals from Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud, took Arsenal up to fifth and Wenger said in a news conference: "What is for sure is that it increases the level of belief and confidence. The five months in front of us are very important in the lifespan of the team. What you make of that will decide our season. "We looked in control away from home and we finally got a big win in a big game away from home. What is pleasing is that reinforces the belief of the team." Wenger, whose team conceded 17 goals in their three away games against the top three last season, praised his defence for keeping a clean sheet. He added: "We had a good solidarity level and good compactness. Sometimes, t ...

Arsenal have joined both Manchester clubs along with Chelsea in the chase to sign Paul Pogba who is highly tipped to become one of the best central midfielders in the world, Express reports. The 21-year-old Juventus star left Manchester United on a free transfer and since put the past behind him to become a vital member for his team's run of Serie A successes. Arsene Wenger believes that the player is exactly what his side is missing and if he could complete the signing, he will have finally succeed in his attempts to find the perfect central midfielder. Elsewhere, Manchester City sees the French international as the perfect candidate to replace Yaya Toure despite the fact that he only recently signed a contract extension with the Serie A side, whom are very unlikely to let him leave. The Blues along with the Red Devils are also closely linked with the Serie A man and could very well spark a huge four-way bidding war during the summer or even as soon as the January window. LATEST SPORTS UPDATE FROM AROUND THE WORLD. Arsenal could go into this weekend's Saturday Night Football game against Newcastle with just one centre-back available. Laurent Koscielny's ongoing Achilles problems mean he is unlikely to be fit, according to Arsene Wenger, and stand-in Nacho Monreal is still out with a foot injury. And with Calum Chambers suspended, Per Mertesacker is set to form a fourth new defensive pairing against Alan Pardew's in-form visitors, who made it seven wins from nine games when they ended Chelsea's unbeaten start to the season last weekend. Wenger said: "Our main problems are still defensively because Koscielny looks like he will not be quite ready, Monreal is not back and Chambers is suspended." Wenger will have to be creative: Mathieu Debuchy could be asked to move inside if his manager wants an experienced player in the middle, but the France right-back made his first appearance in three months in midweek. y Miguel Delaney Stoke 3 Arsenal 2 On a frantic afternoon at the Britannia when there was so much to criticise about Arsenal, one stark fact stood above all others. It was not that they conceded after 18 seconds, or were 3-0 down by half-time because of the most basic errors. It was that, when Mark Hughes took one look at their team-sheet, he knew his Stoke City side had a big opportunity. That’s what Arsenal looked like: a roll-over. It was exactly what they were. “Yes,” Hughes bluntly answered when asked if he fancied his chances after seeing Arsenal’s back five. “We expected (Laurent) Koscielny to play to be perfectly honest, so that was no surprise for us. “When you’ve had changes in the back four, as we’ve had to deal with in recent weeks too, it can upset you and the balance of your team. It takes a while for guys to get used to play with each other.” The bigger issue for Arsenal is that they never seem to get used to such problems at any point. Or, at the least, Arsene Wenger show ...
THRILLER AT THE EMIRATES . . . . . . . . . . Alexis Sanchez struck two minutes from time to give Arsenal victory just as it looked like Southampton would hold out for a draw at The Emirates. Visiting goalkeeper Fraser Forster had kept Arsenal at bay with a collection of fine saves from Danny Welbeck and substitute Olivier Giroud, but he was powerless to prevent Gunners talisman Sanchez pouncing on Aaron Ramsey's cross to score his 14th goal of the season. Arsene Wenger's side deserved the win after applying intense late pressure but Southampton were forced to play out the crucial final minutes without defender Toby Alderweireld, who suffered a hamstring injury after manager Ronald Koeman had used his three substitutes. The victory, coming on the heels of the win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, pushes Arsenal into the top six, while Saints stay third despite a second successive defeat following their home loss against Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday. Arsenal vs Manchester United Preview Scene-setter: After getting back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace before the international break, United will look to continue marching up the league table with an away win over traditional rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. With the chance to leapfrog the Gunners by beating them, Louis Van Gaal will be hoping to pile the pressure on the teams currently occupying the Champions League places. Form guide: Prior to the Crystal Palace result, United were on a three-game winless streak which included two draws against West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea and then a derby defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Head to head, the Reds can take confidence from having won 10 of the last 14 games against Arsenal in all competitions and losing only one – 1-0 at the Emirates on 1 May 2011, just prior to winning the league. Neil Warnock left bewildered by the failure of the match officials to make 'major decisions' in Crystal Palace's favour. The FA will take no action against Marouane Fellaini after he was alleged to have spat at Sergio Aguero on Sunday. According to the expectations Pep Guardiola is planning to leave Bayern Munich next season- just when Arsene Wenger might be ready to retire as Arsenal manager. Last week Wenger’s future as the manager of the Gunners was the object of speculation. Carlo Ancelotti and Paul Clement where discussed as potential successors. But the Evening Standard says Guardiola has emerged as a more serious option and Arsenal will look to move for him in 2016. Guardiola states that he is leaving Bayern for a new challenge presumably at the Premier League. The former Barcelona boss is expected to head Chelsea, Manchester City or Manchester United. Guardiola signed a three-year contract at Bayern but according to the rumours he has no wish to stay longer after 2016. Arsenal would have competition to this appointment and if a deal could be agreed, Wenger would most likely move upstairs into a director role.

And I feel sorry for Sanchez because Arsene Wenger doesn't rest him. He is not a SLAVE you know. -Man City are very weak now,,let them be very careful against Man Utd on sunday -Manchester City performs good against good teams but show poor performance against weak teams -Manchester United slowly getting back to the very best -Saints are second on the standings on 19 points, 4 below leaders Chelsea -Everton I think Martinez needs to come out and say exactly what the situation is with Kone because he appears to have been 'close to fitness' for months now!! -Mario Balotelli and Dejan Lovren secured a spectacular late turnaround as Liverpool came from behind to beat Swansea City 2-1 in the League Cup fourth round.
helsea five points clear at the top Costa scores ninth goal in seven league games Wenger not beaten Mourinho in 12 attempts Eden Hazard scores second goal of the season Chelsea cemented their position at the top of the Premier League with victory over Arsenal as Arsene Wenger's winless streak against Jose Mourinho was extended to 12 games. The old adversaries squared up in an ugly first-half moment when Wenger shoved Mourinho in the chest in Chelsea's technical area after Gary Cahill's challenge on Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez. A semblance of order was restored although the tension still resurfaced - but as so often, it was Mourinho who had the last word with a win that puts the Blues five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. Eden Hazard's first-half penalty put them on their way after he was fouled by Laurent Koscielny, while Diego Costa's ninth goal in seven games since his £32m summer move from Atletico Madrid wrapped up the win. Manchester City are reportedly preparing a bid for Arsenal play maker Mesut Ozil. The Germany international is thought to be unhappy at the Emirates Stadium, particularly with Arsene Wenger's choice to play him on the left side of midfield rather than in his preferred role behind the centre-forward. The 25-year-old has struggled for consistency since joining the Gunners from Real Madrid for a club-record fee of £42.5m in August 2013. Bayern Munich have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Ozil, but Premier League champions City are ready to fend off any competition by making a £35m bid for the midfielder. Ozil is currently sidelined until the beginning of 2015 with a knee injury. *Talking point - should Arsenal cash in on Ozil by selling him if City makes a concrete bid?"...

Off colour Hazard must find his form The biggest match of the Premier League weekend sees Chelsea take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and while the main build-up has centred on Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger and Cesc Fabregas, Blues supporters have found another topic of conversation equally interesting -- Eden Hazard. Despite being afforded plenty of game time by Jose Mourinho, Hazard's start to the new campaign has been indifferent, with a solitary goal, against newly promoted Leicester City, to show for his endeavours. Yes, there have been glimpses of his undoubted ability, particularly against Swansea and Manchester City, but last weekend against Aston Villa, Hazard cut a peripheral figure and was replaced after 68 minutes. Villa were there for the taking, perfect opponents for flat-track bully Hazard to punish, but it was tigerish, box-to-box midfielder Willian who stole the headlines in the 3-0 rout. PL PREVIEW FOR 13th September Arsenal - Man City 17:30 NST Arsenal won 18 of their first 22 Barclays Premier League fixtures against Manchester City, but have only won three of the last 12 (D4 L5). The Citizens have only won one of 17 previous Barclays Premier League games away at Arsenal; a 2-0 win in January 2013 (L11 D5). Indeed, that 2-0 win was also the only time Manchester City have scored more than once in 17 Premier League games at either Highbury or the Emirates. Danny Welbeck could become only the third player in Premier League history to play for both Arsenal and Manchester United (Mikael Silvestre, Robin Van Persie). The Gunners have won more Premier League games in September than any other Premier League side (48) and also have the best points/game average (2.02). SPORTS UPDATE WITH EMMAH ATAI; Manuel Pellegrini is not worried about Manchester City's Premier League preparations despite a heavy 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield curtain raiser. The Premier League champions looked second-best at Wembley with less than a week to go until they open the defence of their title against Newcastle. But their Chilean coach is still confident he can get his side up to scratch by the time they visit St James’ Park - and he also believes he could have a deal for Eliaquim Mangala wrapped up by then to boost City's threadbare defence. ARSENE WENGER on Frank Lampard: "If you look on a map. The shortest way from Chelsea to Manchester City is not to fly to New York first" -HAJ
Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini hits back at Arsenal's Arsene Wenger over Sagna claims Manuel Pellegrini has told Arsene Wenger to keep his nose out of Manchester City's business. Pellegrini has dismissed Arsenal manager Wenger's claims that City tapped up Bacary Sagna long before his contract expired and he was able to leave the Emirates as a free agent for the Etihad this summer. And he also suggested that City's signing of Frank Lampard - who was released by Chelsea at the end of last season - before he starts the MLS season with their sister club New York City was a way of getting round UEFA's financial fair play rules. But Pellegrini said: "I think that as managers we have enough problems with our teams without talking about other teams. The signings of Lampard and Sagna were done correctly. "We have important restrictions [from UEFA] about the amount of money we can spend and the amount players we can sign. "We didn't spend any money in bringing Lampard from New York City to Manchester because he wa ...

And Owen thinks Chelsea's new firepower will see them beat current champions Manchester City into second place next term. Owen said: "I felt the Achilles heel for Jose Mourinho's side last season was the inability of their strikers to score goals and I feel recent £32m signing Diego Costa is the final piece of the jigsaw for the West London outfit and I fully expect his goals to change a very good side into a title-winning one. "Ironically the Club have never adequately replaced Blues' legend Didier Drogba and whilst the ...

Transfer News: Liverpool have been handed a MAJOR transfer boost after learning that Azzurri bad-boy Mario Balotelli is available. Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport revealed that the former Manchester City striker has been placed on the transfer list by Italian giants AC Milan. Liverpool will be expected to meet Milan's £24m valuation of the striker, however they face stern competition from affluent French side Monaco to secure his services. Arsenal had been strongly linked with a move for Balotelli in recent weeks, however claims were readily rubbished by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. Considering his experience in the upper echelons of world football, £24m could represent a steal for Brendan Rodgers who has already spent big on England star Adam Lallana. The Italian's trophy cabinet resembles that of a successful veteran rather than a developing 23-year-old. The accomplished youngster has already won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and numerous domestic Italian trophies. Sou ...

Newcastle and France right back Mathieu Debuchy in advanced talks with Arsena. Mathieu Debuchy: Ever since Bacary Sagna announced he would be leaving Arsenal to join Premier League champions Manchester City the Gunners have been on the look out for a new right back. On Monday afternoon social media took off with reaction to the news from French press that the man who would fill Sagna’s shoes at Arsenal would be Newcastle’s Mathieu Debuchy. For some time it had appeared as if Toulouse full back Serge Aurier would be the man that Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger turned to but for whatever reason that move now looks unlikely to happen. Debuchy does have the added advantage of Premier League experience under his belt but only time will tell if he is the man to replace Bacary Sagna. Debuchy was part of the Lille team that won Ligue 1 in 2011 and since moving to Newcastle in January 2013 the full back has established himself as one of the most consistent players in the team. Arsenal may have to pay up to £35 million in order to sign Mario Balotelli if AC Milan get their way, The Insider has learned. Goal revealed earlier this week that Arsene Wenger and the player’s agent Mino Raiola were due to meet in Brazil - where the Arsenal manager is currently working as a pundit on French television - on Saturday with a view to thrashing out a deal for the controversial Italy striker. Arsenal were hopeful of being able to sign the former Manchester City star for around £25m but Milan have issued Raiola with a mandate to get an extra £10m from any potential buyer. Having missed out on Champions League qualification Milan are willing to let their star player leave, but with Manchester City due to receive a 20 per cent sell-on fee the Italian giants are hoping to drive up the asking price. Everton Vs Manchester City Today At 5:30pm Everton manager Roberto Martinez has still not given up hope of sneaking into the Champions League as his side enter the last-chance saloon. While a point at home to title-chasing Manchester City will guarantee a return to European football next season it would almost certainly end their already-slim top-four challenge. Arsenal, who play Sunday, are four points ahead with a superior but not insurmountable goal difference advantage but Arsene Wenger's side need to drop four points in their last two matches for Everton to stand a chance of catching them. The Toffees look like being the unlucky losers as their points tally of 69 would have qualified them for the Champions League in seven of the last 11 seasons. But that does not mean Martinez is conceding defeat or happy to settle for a point which will secure a Europa League spot. "We don't look at it that way. We have 69 points and we want to beat that. We don't take it lightly," he said. "We need six points becau ...

Steven Reid is doubtful with a groin problem, while Liam Ridgewell and Zoltan Gera should return next week. Depending on Everton's result against Manchester City, Arsenal might already be guaranteed a Champions League place for the 17th year in succession before they kick off against West Brom. If Everton lose this weekend, then Arsenal qualify whatever happens, while a point will be enough for the Gunners if Everton have drawn. An Arsenal win would make Everton's result irrelevant anyway. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger believes his side's 3-0 Premier League win at Hull will have no bearing when they face each other again in the FA Cup final on 17 May. Lukas Podolski scored twice after Aaron Ramsey's goal as the Gunners strolled to victory at the KC Stadium. "The Cup final is a completely different game," Wenger insisted. Arsenal won the 1998 and 2003 FA Cups shortly after league wins over final opponents Newcastle and Southampton. However, Manchester City suffered a surprise defeat against Wigan in last season's Wembley showpiece in the weeks after beating them in the league. Midfielder Ramsey, who played for Cardiff when they were beaten by Portsmouth in the 2008 final, echoed the words of his manager. "We have beaten Hull twice but are not going to take them lightly," he said. "They are a well-organised team, get crosses in and we can't rely on our previous performances against them." Hull will be without strikers Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long for the final, as both are cup- tied. Jelavic ...

Ahead of Arsenal's Premier League encounter with West Ham United tonight, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has told Arsene Wenger that he must spend £120million if they're to mount a title challenge next season.
Manchester City 3 League titles in their entire club history. Arsene Wenger: 3 Legue titles in his 18 years as the club manager.
Wigan Athletic v Arsenal Arsenal will be looking to put their largely unsuccessful season to one side when they face Wigan in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday evening. The Gunners have seen their promising first-half of their league campaign unravel over the past few months, with heavy defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea ending their Premier League title challenge, while a 3-0 loss at Everton last weekend left a top-four finish out of their hands. Arsene Wenger's men were also dumped out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage, leaving the FA Cup as their only avenue to silverware this season. The North London giants will now come up against holders Wigan, who are in with a shot of earning an immediate return to the English top-flight, with the Latics currently fifth in the Championship standings with five games remaining in the league season. Uwe Rosler's side have also secured some big- name scalps on their way to the last-four, including a quarter-final win over Manchester City, the same team they ...
Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla rates Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini ahead of Arsene Wenger. Cazorla has played for Pellegrini at two clubs. "I learnt a lot from of all of the managers I have played for, but if I had to choose one it would be Pellegrini. "He’s the coach that has given me the most during five to six years that I worked with him at Villarreal and Malaga."
Arsenal's number one striker Olivier Giroud has an unwanted record this campaign - has has been substituted more than any other Gunner. The forward has been brought off 13 times by Arsene Wenger, more than his nearest teammate Tomas Rosicky (10). The Frenchman is just three shy of the highest total in the league this season, shared by Kevin Mirallas of Everton and Samir Nasri of Manchester City (16). The figure relating to Giroud further illustrates the view that the striker is running on empty, with his performances in recent weeks being illustrative of a player who is tired. Arsenal have no real competition for Giroud, with Nicklas Bendtner and Yaya Sanogo short of the standard required, and both have themselves struggled with fitness. Teammate Laurent Koscielny spoke as far back as November about his teammate showing signs of fatigue, and the fact Wenger has chosen to bring Giroud off so frequently asks further questions as to why he did not sign an adequate alternative.
My PROPHECY ABOUT EUROPEAN SPORT;Sports in Europe 1. Barcelona will not get to the final of the UEFA Champions League. 2. There will be dispute between Jose Mourinho and Abrahamovic. 6. Manchester United will perform better next season. 7. Arsene Wenger may leave Arsenal at the end of the season if the club ends the season without trophy. 8. Bayern Munchen will win the German league.
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has lifted on the lid on his rejection by Arsenal during trials. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has insisted work permit problems blocked the prospect of a deal. But Toure told City's YouTube channel: "When I was in Belgium, I went to Arsenal for a couple of months to give me some training and I remember my first chat I had with Arsene. "He asked me, 'Which position do you want to play?' I said 'Midfielder.' "He said, 'Why? When I saw you training, for me, you looked more like a striker.' "I said, 'That's why you always put me up front, move me, I want to play in midfield like Patrick (Vieira). I said 'I can play like Patrick, I can be better than Patrick' and he said 'No, no, it's impossible."
Honestly I like Brendan Rodgers & Arsene Wenger style in the transfer window. You don't have to buy and buy until you get banned! Chelsea were banned in 2010 but won appeal but I don't think Barcelona will win this appeal. Manchester City next? :p

Jamie Redknapp says Mathieu Flamini has proved he needs to play in more big games for Arsenal until Arsene Wenger signs a younger model. The Frenchman scored a surprise equaliser for the Gunners in their 1-1 draw with Premier League title favourites Manchester City and impressed in a midfield role alongside Mikel Arteta. Redknapp said Arsenal benefited from having two hard-working players in the centre of the pitch and called on Wenger to use that duo more often in crucial matches, at least until he signs a younger player who can do a similar job.
Arsenal and Manchester City manager reaction Arsene Wenger and Manuel Pellegrini give thoughts after 1-1 draw Arsenal and Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium this evening which gives Liverpool the slightest of edges in this season's Premier League title race. After seeing Chelsea lose to Crystal Palace, City knew that if they could beat Arsenal, they would jump above Jose Mourinho's men and onto top-spot and after David Silva gave them a 16th minute lead, it looked like number-one spot was going to go to Pellegrini's men. However, a second-half strike from Mathieu Flamini denied City the chance and gave The Gunners a much-needed confidence boost. The game ended 1-1 and after the game, the two managers spoke to the press, and here is what they had to say. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger: "In the second half we controlled the game but we could not score a second goal. It was a good game with two quality teams and very tight. "I was confident we could win it but, after what we have go ...

MOURINHO SHOULD SHUT UP FOR ONCE...!!! d guy no go keep quiet even wen him 4k up... It's coming. Slowly, but surely. We all know it. Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers are edging ever closer toward to the centre of Jose Mourinho's cross hairs. Warning shots are already being fired. The full verbal arsenal is ready to be unleashed. When Mourinho returned to England back in June, Liverpool were an afterthought. No one considered them title challengers. Why would they? The Reds had finished 7th last season. They wouldn't pose a threat to Chelsea, who would be fighting with Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United for the Premier League crown. That was the conventional wisdom back then. Back then when Mourinho was trying to convince everyone that he was a changed man. More relaxed, less abrasive. Yeah, right. After a surprisingly sedate first few months back in England, during which he somehow managed to avoid too much controversy, Mourinho discarded his disingenuous 'Happy One' guise and reverted to type. H ...
Any Liverpool fan in the house? I want to hear from you guys in earnest. Manchester City visit Liverpool on the weekend of the 25th Anniversary of Hillsborough. The atmosphere at Anfield will be electric. Liverpool's title to win now! Am not saying you should agree with me but that's my own opinion at least for now. Liverpool have their ever best chance to win the Premier League. It is now in their hands! If they win their next seven games they win the league and let's not forgot they went unbeaten for their last eight games of the 2012-2013 season! Of course, all the Liverpool fans are getting excited. But they're also realistic and if they don't win it, this season's a huge improvement and Champions League qualification is great anyway for them. They can just dare to dream though! On the other hand, you could see the frustration [Arsenal vs Manchester City] - on both sides - at the final whistle. Arsene Wenger will be slightly happier than Manuel Pellegrini after his team came back from behind and show ...
If Arsene Wenger could use the faith he has for his Arsenal team into the the things of God, I tell you he would be a powerful man of God! He has faith that can move mountains, WOW! "Arsene Wenger says Arsenal can still win title ahead of Manchester City game"
Please do the same to Arsene Wenger Anti-Moyes banner to fly over Old Trafford 28 Mar 2014 21:45:01 A plane carrying a banner calling for Manchester United manager David Moyes's departure is set to fly over Old Trafford at the start of Saturday's Premier League match against Aston Villa. Aerial advertising company Air Ads told the Manchester Evening News that it was asked earlier this week to create the banner. Reading "Wrong one - Moyes Out," the sign will be flown for 15 minutes at the start of the game, the company said. Moyes, who was hand-picked by his predecessor Alex Ferguson, is overseeing a dismal first season in charge, with the Red Devils five points behind sixth-place Tottenham with seven games left. Fans are losing patience and stewards had to protect "The Chosen One" banner in honour of Moyes after United's loss to Manchester City midweek
Deal or no deal? Bacary Sagna has a decision to make Bacary Sagna has been offered a three year contract to stay at Arsenal. Sagna, 31, is a free agent when his current deal expires this summer and has already had interest from Manchester City , Inter Milan and Galatasaray. But Mirror Sport understands that Arsenal are determined to try and persuade Sagna to stay and have broken with club tradition to try and keep him. Arsenal have offered Sagna a three year deal which is a major statement as up until recently Arsene Wenger has only offered only one year extensions to their 30-somethings. But they are bending the rules for Sagna and want to reward him for his loyalty with a deal which would see him finish his career at the Emirates. Gunners boss Wenger is hopeful Sagna will stay even though foreign clubs are free to talk to him and even offer him a pre- contract. But Wenger denied City have made him an offer. Wenger said: “He (Sagna) has an offer, he has not come back to us yet. That (City offer) cannot ...
Arsene Wenger has given an update to the latest team news ahead of this weekends crunch tie with Manchester City, with Nacho Monreal close to returning while Aaron Ramsey still a few weeks off. The Welshman has been Arsenal’s most missed player this year since his thigh injury in late December, and he had been schedule to be fit for the recent ‘March Madness’ fixtures. However after numerous setbacks the midfielder is within a few weeks of returning to action, and hopefully that will be more accurate this time with the medical staff likely to be patient. The return of Monreal to the fray is a boost for the defence with injuries to Koscielny and the Spaniard limiting options at the back. Luckily we have not sustained any further knocks after the 2-2 draw with Swansea on Tuesday night. Wenger revealed the following team news: [on the latest team news] Compared to Tuesday night, we have no new injuries and no-one coming back as well. [on the injured players] Monreal should be the first one back in trai ...
Thank God for clubs like Manchester City...If say dem no dey around, Arsene Wenger and he team for just let Mouthrunningho come from wherever he go come win this premiership! Can you imagine? Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger says he remains committed to the club after questions about his future in the wake of last week's 6-0 defeat by Chelsea. "My commitment is not questionable. I have given my word and I always respect my word," Wenger tells his pre-match news conference ahead of Saturday's game with Manchester City.

A man who divides opinion, but for me Olivier Giroud is one of the worst forwards Arsene Wenger has signed. Of course, we’ve had players Marouane Chamakh, Park Chu-Young, Nicklas Bendtner and Gervinho but they were never been our main strikers. Since Arsene Wenger joined Arsenal in September of 1996, the main strikers at Arsenal have been Ian Wright, Dennis Bergkamp, Nicholas Anelka, Thierry Henry, Nwankwo Kanu, Davor Suker, Robin Van Persie, Emmanuel Adebayor, Eduardo and now Olivier Giroud. He’s not even in the same league as the rest of those players, and the list includes the biggest wanker that is Adebayor. He’s not good enough. He wouldn’t get into any other Top 10 side, nevermind any Top 4 team. Manchester City have Aguero, Jovetic, Dzeko and Negredo, Liverpool have Suarez and Sturridge, Chelsea even have Torres and Eto’o who are past it but they’re still better than Giroud. In a nutshell, his ability to miss the simplest of chances has cost Arsenal dearly this season. With a top class ...
Arsene Wenger says the loss at QPR was "an accident" - and insists they will bounce back against Manchester City
Premier League - Paper Round: Real Madrid in for Hart Real Madrid are weighing up a shock move for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart; Arsenal are already planning for the post-Arsene Wenger era; and Tottenham Hotspur have made Romelu Lukaku their top summer target - here are the main stories making headlines in this morning's newspapers.
Arsenal have suffered a hat-trick of humiliations in the current Premier League season. For a team blessed with the superstar arrival of Mesut Ozil, with the emerging box-to-box sensation that is Aaron Ramsey and with the intuitive defensive partnership that Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have, for the most part, enjoyed, it seems almost unfathomable that the Gunners team, who had performed so admirably for the majority of the season, could have repeatedly been found lacking not just once, against Manchester City, but at Liverpool and versus Chelsea, on Saturday. Andy Gray had more when speaking to talkSPORT earlier in the week: "It seems incredible to talk about a man like Arsene Wenger as being naive but I honestly think sometimes he must be. The likes of [Sir Alex Ferguson] Fergie, [Jose] Mourinho and [Carlo] Ancelotti would go into games and think, right, first thing you have to remember is to defend, to be tight early on in the game. "Arsenal just go into games and play, whether it is home or ...
Chelsea vs. Arsenal: 6 Things We Learned from the Gunners' Embarrassing Defeat 1.Arsene Wenger Was Ready for the 'Game of the Season,' but His Team Weren't: Before the game, Arsene Wenger spoke to the media who were previewing his 1000th match. He talked of how tight things were in the four-horse title race. Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City's form and mental attitudes mean that no team can afford to slip up. He told the press conference, as per the Daily Mail: "It’s the game of the season for us because it will be against a direct opponent." Unfortunately for Le Prof, Chelsea were by far and away the better team long before the ragged Gunners resorted to damage limitation with 10 men. The complete and utter lack of pace in Arsenal's midfield meant that they were on the back foot right from the off. Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were bypassed time and time through central midfield. Perhaps the occasion of playing in their legendary manager's 1000th game was too much for certain players. ...
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is the best-paid coach in world football, according to a new list released on Tuesday. French weekly sports publication France Football have published their annual rich list, which shows Mourinho is now out-earning his coaching nemesis, Bayern Munich's Pep Guardiola – who has the second-largest coaching salary in the world game. The Blues boss – who earns a cool €17m a year – had suggested he took a pay cut to return to Stamford Bridge last summer, but that assertion has been dashed by the latest index. Arsene Wenger is the next best-paid Premier League boss, receiving little over half that of Mourinho, while former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is enjoying a bumper pay day at Galatasaray, having left the Etihad last summer. Mancini squeezes into the top three, edging ahead of Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti on €14m a year. Despite receiving a €1.5m pay rise after quitting Paris Saint-Germain for the Bernabeu, Ancelotti - who was on the podium in l . ...
ON MOYESUNITED (FOR MOYES UTD FANS BRAH) - BY Kanbei311 from /r/reddevils That was Everton's ceiling because their budget was significantly less than anyone above them. Currently, the big spending teams in the Premier League are Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United. That's the top six places occupied. Unless one of them has an atypical drop in form (i.e. Us and Tottenham this season or Liverpool for the last few seasons) 7th is about as good as it's going to get for Everton. In essence, Moyes took Everton as far as they are going to go. They might have the odd Champions League spot in the next few years or even an occasional trophy, but let's be realistic, they won't be able to do that on a consistent basis unless they're picked up by the next Alex Ferguson or a Middle-Eastern oligarch. Nobody on Everton's budget has won a trophy in the modern era without a significant slice of luck on their side. That's why I get irritated by the "hasn't won a trophy" argument. Ar ...
EIGHT REASONS WHY I THINK David Moyes IS NOT THE FIT FOR Man United JOB. 1) DECLINE TOO FAR RAPID. Accept or not, winning the League and dropping to mid table is totally unacceptable. 2) TACTICS ARE PREDICTABLE. Believe it, any team with half a clue about our approach has the game theirs to lose. Rene spoke it and Rodgers confirmed it, Manchester City will sign it. 3) ALARMING LACK OF CHANCES CREATED. How many goals have we scored this season? 47? At home?? 18? The same as Fulham? We haven't had any real go in the defeats we have suffered. 4) STRANGE TRANSFER BUSINESS. Fellaini is not good enough in big games. Mata is not a wide man. Then why did we buy him with four options in the CAM ROLE? 5) PLAYERS CLEARLY NOT HAPPY. One or Two is normal, but seven or eight? Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Kagawa, Fabio, RvP.. Name them.. It's terrible I tell you. 6) VISION. With Brendan Rodgers, Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger, you clearly see where they want their respective clubs and where they are heading to. But in our cas ...
Three factors that must determine whether or not Arsene Wenger should remain as Arsenal manager at the end of this season: 1. A loss to Tottenham Hot Spurs tomorrow 2. A loss to any other team apart from Chelsea and Manchester City in the remaining league matches, and 3. Failure to win the FA cup
Arsene Wenger has held heart-to-heart talks with Mesut Ozil - and reassured him that he is central to Arsenal's plans. Manchester City's Champions League exit was compounded by a potentially serious injury to star striker Sergio Aguero. Spurs' players had a furious dressing-room bust-up after their defeat at Chelsea last weekend. Wigan boss Uwe Rosler is ready to sign Manchester City's forgotten man Jack Rodwell in an emergency loan deal. Arsene Wenger is keeping close tabs on young Valencia striker Francisco Alcacer. Fitness coach Raymond Verheijen has savaged Arsene Wenger's training methods, claiming they are to blame for Arsenal's latest injury crisis. Patrice Evra is set to join Manchester United team-mate Nemanja Vidic at Inter Milan. Mesut Ozil will miss at least five Premier League games which will make or break Arsenal's bid for the double. New Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has already held "positive" talks with boss Mauricio Pochettino and rubbished claims owner Katharina Liebherr wants to ...
Bayern far from untouchable: Bayern Munich have been almost untouchable in the Bundesliga but their edgy performance against Arsenal suggested that the lack of competition at domestic level could hinder their European ambitions. Bayern again found the Champions League a different proposition as they struggled to break down a surprisingly cautious Arsenal in the first half of Tuesday's game and showed vulnerabilities in defence when the visitors came at them in the final half hour. The last time Bayern failed to win a competitive game was also in the Champions League last December, when they squandered a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 at home to Manchester City. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger also faced Bayern last season in the round of 16 and was able to make a brief comparison between last year's Champions League-winning side, coached by Jupp Heynckes, and Pep Guardiola's version this year. "Bayern are a good side but they were more vulnerable this season than last year," he told a news conference after the game. ...

Arsene Wenger made seven changes to his lineup in the last round of the FA Cup. He gambled, rolled the dice and came up trumps because Arsenal saw off Liverpool 2-1 in the fifth round. It was a risk worth taking in Wenger's mind because they had Bayern Munich in the Champions League three days later. Back came all the big guns, and Arsenal played really well against the European champions -- but had Wojciech Szczesny sent off, went down to 10 men and ended up losing 2-0. It was rotten luck. It also means that the trip to Munich next week for the return leg is going to be Mission Impossible. Well, not quite. But nearly. The title race is also slipping away, with Chelsea in danger of disappearing into the distance with Arsenal and Manchester City involved in the cup, and Liverpool having the weekend off. Blimey, even Steven Gerrard admitted last week they've got it easy -- and now they've got another weekend off. Anfield has become like Butlins. But the point is that Arsenal's best hope of silverware is the ...
The 20-year-old insists Arsene Wenger's squad still possess a winning mentality as they edge closer to a first trophy since 2005 following Saturday's win over Everton Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain insists the Arsenal players are desperate to win the FA Cup and end their nine-year wait for silverware. Arsenal booked their place in the semi-finals with a 4-1 win over Everton on Saturday, and they will meet Wigan Athletic at Wembley in the last four after Uwe Rosler's men beat Manchester City in the competition for a second successive season. And Oxlade-Chamberlain, who played 78 minutes against Everton, has revealed the hunger within Arsenal's dressing room is greater than ever. The FA Cup was the last trophy Arsenal lifted in 2005 and, although the Premier League title is still a possibility, Wembley success is at the forefront of Oxlade-Chamberlain's mind. "As a professional and as a winner, you always want to win things, that goes for every member of our team," the youngster told reporters. "There's no doubt i ...

LINEUP, BOOKINGS (0) & SUBSTITUTIONS (0) TEAM NEWS Stoke forward Peter Odemwingie is a fitness doubt with a calf problem, but Jon Walters should be available despite suffering illness earlier in the week. Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has overcome injury and could deputise at left-back if neither Kieran Gibbs nor Nacho Monreal are fit. Record signing Mesut Ozil will play after recovering from a hip injury. MATCH PREVIEW Rather like a connoisseur used to dining on black truffles and foie gras being taken to Spuds-R-Us for lunch, Arsene Wenger always seemed to view playing against the Stoke side created by Tony Pulis as an unwelcome encounter with something unsavoury, unspeakable and vaguely menacing. Perhaps that is understandable when you consider that Arsenal have never had much reason to enjoy their visits to the Britannia Stadium. Even their solitary win in seven visits to that windy, noisy cauldron ...
On Saturday three of the Premier League title contenders were in action, and they were all embroiled in late drama, battling displays and most importantly… crucial wins. Chelsea beat Everton with a late, late winner at Stamford Bridge, Manchester City edged out Stoke with a workmanlike display, Manchester United’s star duo of RVP and Wayne Rooney saw off Palace and Arsenal battered Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium. Free-scoring City have nothing to lose against fading Barcelona Arsene Wenger shares his views on the Champions League matches this week that don't involve his Arsenal side. Manchester City v Barcelona This is the confrontation we've all been waiting for. Because Manchester City are currently in great shape, and everybody always respects Barcelona a lot. But nowadays in Europe, people are a wondering how strong Barcelona really are. If you’d ask me truthfully if they're still dominating Europe as they did for some years, I’d say no. But can they still win the Champions League? I’d say yes. They still have exceptional and extraordinary technical skill. But they seem less stable in their results, in their way of playing mostly. So it will really be 50/50 for me. Maybe with Manchester City slight favourites, since they have nothing to lose, but real have potential. The question that might be asked about Barcelona is this: will the 7-0 defeat by Bayern last year have an impact on them? I’ll be very cu ...
