Jorge Mendes has revealed that Arsenal’s inability to sign Cristiano Ronaldo was because of the club’s plans to build the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners were competing with Manchester United to land Ronaldo from Sporting in 2003, while earlier this season Arsene Wenger admitted his “biggest regret” was missing out on the Portugal international. In a new biography that will be released in English this year, titled ‘The Agent One’, Mendes concedes that Arsenal were very close to signing the three-time Ballon d'Or winner before a lack of financial power scuppered the deal. “There was a moment in which I really thought he was going to Arsenal,” said Mendes. “David Dein [Arsenal’s former vice-chairman] is a spectacular person but, with the construction of their stadium, they were left with very little money and it wasn’t possible.” Mendes also revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson’s desire to immediately use Ronaldo in United’s first team was the tipping point in negotiations. “The only ...

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal re - signed Sol Campbell and Thierry Henry , there was no noise. Alex Ferguson and Manchester United brought back Paul Scholes, it was good. Chelsea brings back it's own legend, Didier Drogba and all *** is let loose by our London under achieving rivals' supporters. Could the fear of Drogba be the beginning of wisdom for them? Who is afraid of Didier Drogba? Could it be because Drogba will always score against them? Abi why are they taking panadol for Chelsea headache? Or is their headache? Up Chelsea joor. They say Stephen Keshi is not a coach but a motivator at best - na wa. Despite not having a golden generation of players, the man wins the AFCON and takes the Eagles to the last-16 of the World Cup, still e no do. He does in two and a half years what Clemens Westerhof did in four and a half years, but that is not enough - I mean "what good coach would select Gabriel Reuben?" They say Africans don't have heroes... how true. It is not that heroes don't have shortcomings, it that those who create them gloss over them. In a different country outside Africa guys like Keshi would be heroes in story books in elementary school. Not in Nigeria where the heroes for our children are Lionel Messi, Alex Ferguson, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerard, Arsene Wenger etc. The average Nigerian under 30 would rather watch England play than the Super Eagles. It does not matter that the English were knocked out at the group stage - they were just unlucky you'll hear. It is why when Nigeria play these days, you will hear Eagles fans c ...

Please do the same to Arsene Wenger Anti-Moyes banner to fly over Old Trafford 28 Mar 2014 21:45:01 A plane carrying a banner calling for Manchester United manager David Moyes's departure is set to fly over Old Trafford at the start of Saturday's Premier League match against Aston Villa. Aerial advertising company Air Ads told the Manchester Evening News that it was asked earlier this week to create the banner. Reading "Wrong one - Moyes Out," the sign will be flown for 15 minutes at the start of the game, the company said. Moyes, who was hand-picked by his predecessor Alex Ferguson, is overseeing a dismal first season in charge, with the Red Devils five points behind sixth-place Tottenham with seven games left. Fans are losing patience and stewards had to protect "The Chosen One" banner in honour of Moyes after United's loss to Manchester City midweek

ON MOYESUNITED (FOR MOYES UTD FANS BRAH) - BY Kanbei311 from /r/reddevils That was Everton's ceiling because their budget was significantly less than anyone above them. Currently, the big spending teams in the Premier League are Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United. That's the top six places occupied. Unless one of them has an atypical drop in form (i.e. Us and Tottenham this season or Liverpool for the last few seasons) 7th is about as good as it's going to get for Everton. In essence, Moyes took Everton as far as they are going to go. They might have the odd Champions League spot in the next few years or even an occasional trophy, but let's be realistic, they won't be able to do that on a consistent basis unless they're picked up by the next Alex Ferguson or a Middle-Eastern oligarch. Nobody on Everton's budget has won a trophy in the modern era without a significant slice of luck on their side. That's why I get irritated by the "hasn't won a trophy" argument. Ar ...

Jose: Wenger always complains Jose Mourinho has told Arsene Wenger he should be happy Chelsea are selling Juan Mata to Manchester United. So far, David Moyes has a better win% record (57.58) than any manager in United’s history apart from Alex Ferguson (59.67). Moyes’ win% with Everton was much lower though (41%). Moyes won 18 of his first 31 games in charge at United — a better record than Sir Matt Busby (15), Ron Atkinson (14) and Sir Alex Ferguson (12). United have gone out of the FA Cup at the third round under Moyes — something which only happened once in Alex Ferguson’s 27 years in charge. United are currently seventh. They haven’t been as low at this stage of the season since the 1988/89 campaign. Only Arsene Wenger, Alex Ferguson and Harry Redknapp have managed more Premier League games than David Moyes. Alex Ferguson (528), Arsene Wenger (383), David Moyes (174), Rafa Benitez (126) and Gerard Houllier (112) are the only managers to have won over 100 games with a Premier League team Moyes’ expensive £27.5 million signing, Marouane Fellaini, has scored just once this season — while playing for Everton. He has failed ...

The retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson as manager at Manchester United now makes his fiercest rival Arsene Wenger the longest serving manager in the English Premier League. This rivalry left in its wake memorable on- and off-pitch moments reminiscent of the league's golden years: The Patrick Vieira - Roy Keane (dynamic captains and great midfielders) famous battles, the Thierry Henry - Ruud van Nistelroy (sublime finishers) top scorer 'fights' and numerous Wenger - Ferguson spats. Sir Alex Ferguson in recognition of his rivalry with Arsene Wenger dedicated a chapter in his new book to 'Competing with Wenger'. Two great football clubs. Two glorious managers. Wilfried Zaha had a big decision to make last January as both Manchester United and Arsenal were vying for the then Crystal Palace winger's services. Arsenal, the club who Zaha supported as a boy, were said to be leading the race to sign the starlet until Sir Alex Ferguson intervened to steal him away from Arsene Wenger's grasp. Zaha was by far the best player in the Championship at the time, helping the Eagles to seal a place in the Premier League. The 20-year-old, speaking shortly after his £15million move to Old Trafford, told The Sun: "It was always Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal in terms of where I could be going. "I am just anxious and excited. It will be something different. When I walk into that dressing room at United. I do not know what I will feel. I will keep my head down as I am there to play football. Chelsea are set to table a £20m offer for Wayne Rooney with the Manchester United striker understood to be keen to link up with Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge despite interest from Arsenal, according to the Telegraph. Rooney’s future has been cast in doubt after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed towards the end of last season that the 27-year-old had asked to leave the club after being left out of some key fixtures, including the decisive Champions League quarter final second leg against Real Madrid. The Telegraph claim Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move with boss Arsene Wenger seemingly ready to open the cheque book this summer to bring in some proven talent, but the Gunners now face stiff competition from their London rivals with Chelsea also tipped to table an opening £20m bid. The newspaper suggests that United are determined not to sell to a Premier League rival but Rooney may push for a move to west London once the expected offer from the Europa League winners comes in, as the striker is k ...

Alex Ferguson gave a statement last season by signing RVP that he was set to use a player at his peak to fetch United silverware and so it happened. Just wonder, if Arsene Wenger can make the same statement by signing Wayne Rooney, going out of his wage bills, and get a psychological advantage over United and other teams before the start of the season. No Jovetic, No Higuain.Rooney should do the needful with his proven Premier League record. Moreover it will be the perfect answer to RVP and United.! What do you guys think ?
4 Jun 2013 12:30:00 Arsene Wenger has gone public with his interest in England's talisman, with the Gunners preparing to put together a salary package that can entice the Manchester United man EXCLUSIVE By Wayne Veysey | Chief Correspondent Wayne Rooney will give serious consideration to a move to Arsenal this summer if they can match his salary demands, Goal understands. England’s talisman is ready to sever his ties with Manchester United as he sets his sights on a new club next season. Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among the big-spending continental outfits who are closely monitoring Rooney’s situation but Arsenal, armed with the biggest transfer kitty in the club’s history, are regarded by insiders to be serious contenders to land the forward. Arsene Wenger has since gone public with his interest and outlined the challenge new United manager David Moyes has in “bridging the gap” wit ...
Gerard Houllier turned down the chance to sign Ronaldo when he was manager of Liverpool in 2003. The Frenchman revealed how he was put off a move by the then-Sporting Lisbon ace’s wage demands and the fact the Reds already had Harry Kewell. Ronaldo moved to rivals Manchester United later that summer for £12.24million. Houllier said: “I saw him in the Toulon Under-21 tournament and we went for him, but we had a wage scale and we weren’t paying the sort of salary he wanted. “Then Manchester United played a friendly against Sporting Lisbon and all their boys said to Sir Alex Ferguson, ‘You have to sign him’. But I agreed with not breaking the wage structure. “I thought it would cause problems in our dressing room.” Arsene Wenger also missed out on signing Ronaldo for Arsenal the same summer, insisting he could not agree a fee with Sporting.

LONDON: Arsenal won the race for fourth place in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory at Newcastle, while Alex Ferguson's extraordinary career ended in remarkable fashion as Manchester United drew 5-5 at West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. Arsene Wenger's side needed three points to guarantee a spot in next season's Champions League qualification rounds ahead of north London rivals Tottenham and Laurent Koscielny's second-half strike ensured they achieved that aim. Koscielny's goal meant more heartache for Spurs, who have developed an unfortunate habit of missing out on Champions League action on the last day of the season, and once again had to settle for the place in the Europa League that comes with finishing fifth despite their 1-0 win against Sunderland at White Hart Lane. Ferguson was taking charge of United for the 1,500th and final time before retiring and the Scot looked set to bow out with a win as the Premier League champions romped into a 5-2 lead. But Albion scored three times in the last nine m ...

BACKPASS Arsene Wenger has killed off rumours of a summer move and has pledged to stay at Arsenal. After the retirements of Alex Ferguson, Paul Scholls and David Beckham, Gunners boss Wenger revealed he will not be joining the list of high-profile changes. The Frenchman, 63, took charge in 1996 and next season will become the longest-serving Premier boss — despite no trophy for eight years. His contract expires in the summer of 2014 but he has been linked with a move to Paris St Germain. QUESTION Is this good or bad news for Arsenal fans?
Arsene Wenger explains why he thinks Sir Alex Ferguson will not struggle with retirement:
Arsene Wenger has claimed he knew of Arsene Wenger's retirement a year ago:
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he had a feeling a long time ago that Alex Ferguson would be retiring at the end of the season.

Desailly: Abramovich sacking policy has worked wonders for Chelsea.Former Chelsea captain Marcel Desailly has defended the sacking policy of Blues owner Roman Abramovich. Desailly insists the Russian's approach has proved successful. He told The Sun: “Not every club has an Alex Ferguson or an Arsene Wenger. “Chelsea have an owner in Roman Abramovich who as soon as he detects some mistakes wants to change things and move on. When he sacked Andre Villas Boas people thought why hasn’t he given a young manager more time to express himself. “But then Di Matteo came in and won the Champions League so people at the club need to accept the way Abramovich works.”

Ronaldo Hits Back At Ferguson Former Brazil striker Ronaldo said Real Madrid's 2-1 Champions League win over Manchester United on Tuesday served to shut Alex Ferguson's mouth, after the United boss called him 'fat' in the build-up to the game. DETAILS... During Monday's pre-game press conference Ferguson was asked to compare the former Madrid attacker Ronaldo [Luis Nazario de Lima] with his namesake the current Los Blancos star [Cristiano] Ronaldo. The Scot replied that Cristiano was a better all-round player than the "fat, old" Ronaldo, who had scored a hat-trick on Madrid's last visit to Old Trafford in 2003. The Portuguese attacker then did not match that performance during this year's game, looking affected by the emotion of his return to his former club, but still scoring Madrid's winner in a game that hinged on the controversial sending off of United winger Nani early in the second half with home side 1-0 ahead. The Brazilian Ronaldo, 36, retired as a player in 2011 after a long series of knee injur ...

Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Rafa go to heaven. The three of them are sent to the pearly gates of heaven where they have to give a 5 minute talk on why St Peter should support their club. Arsene Wenger starts off first and in the end St Peter praises him and says, "By the way, did you remember that time when Eduardo so blatantly and obviously dived in that game?" Wenger replies, "I cannot say. Maybe, possibly, I don't know but I didn't see it." This pisses St Peter of a bit, so he sends Arsene back to earth. Rafa has his turn, sits down and places a big sealed portfolio with files inside it. He gives St Peter a 5 minute talk on why Liverpool FC is the best club in the world and why he should support them. St Peter interrupts him at 4:50 seconds and asks, "But how can you be so sure Liverpool FC are the best club of the three to support? Rafa simply says, "St Peter, I'm simply stating the facts." Arsene Wenger is ready to dump his FA Cup flops after being given the cash to spend big this summer. Wenger launched a furious blast at his players after questioning whether some of his current squad have enough “maturity and mental strength” to cope with big games. The Arsenal boss came under increased pressure after being stung by the Cup exit to Championship Blackburn. And the cascade of boos and jeers from the Emirates faithful which showered him and his players as they left the pitch was yet further proof of how much Gunners fans are desperate for a return to their trophy- laden past. Kelvin Meadows, of the fans Black Scarf Movement, said: “Arsenal need a team to seriously challenge for trophies and a new manager who is answerable.” While celebrity fan Piers Morgan added: “Alex Ferguson would be long gone at United with Wenger’s record over last eight years at Arsenal.” Wenger will have to give some of his players one last chance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League tomorrow ni ...

Manchester United are ready to make a £10million summer bid for Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama. Boss Alex Ferguson checked out the Kenyan, 21, on Tuesday night when he scored in a 4-0 win over Dundee United. The Red Devils have watched him in every Champions League game this season, including the 2-1 home win over Barcelona in which Wanyama scored. The 6ft 2in star is a strong defensive midfielder who can also play at centre-back. Ferguson needs midfielders this summer with Paul Scholes, 38, and Ryan Giggs, 39, set to retire. United face competition from Arsenal with Arsene Wenger believing Wanyama is the man to beef up their team. But Celtic chief Neil Lennon wants to keep a player he bought from Belgian side Beerschot in 2011 for £900,000.
Manchester United and Arsenal are making checks on QPR’s Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar. Both clubs have serious goalkeeping issues and are on the lookout for an experienced No 1. David De Gea will be replaced at United while the Gunners are losing faith in Polish stopper Wojciech Szczesny. And SunSport has learned the two clubs have been canvassing opinion on Cesar. He has the pedigree United boss Alex Ferguson and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger are looking for. Cesar, 33, spent seven years at Inter Milan where he won five Serie A titles and the Champions League. He quit Inter because the club had to get him off the wage bill and he surprisingly moved to Loftus Road. QPR need to get rid of either Cesar or Robert Green due to their high wages. However, Cesar’s form is such that he has become vital to Rangers’ relegation fight. Read more:
Arsene Wenger should be made to understand that being a good coach does not always equal the team's performance without quality players. We have all seen in the case of Jose Mourinho, Pep Gourdiola, Alex Ferguson etc., these managers don't work with bunch of mediocres or players with no self-believe. Rather they acquire top class players to achieve their landmark results; which has also enhanced their managerial brilliance and has ranked them as top profile managers. You don't crowd your wage bills with players of no equal status with the ones that are sold out and then feel you can still achieve same results or still be ranked among the top teams (top four). It's quite unfortunate and hard to swallow that OUR once ever FEARED Arsenal team by other teams across Europe is now one of those beaten by a division two side (Bradford) and now a no threat to any Epl sides.
Man Utd close to deal for Zaha Manchester United and Crystal Palace will hold further talks in the next 24 hours as they work towards concluding a deal for England winger Wilfried Zaha. Sir Alex Ferguson has remained behind as his squad travelled to Qatar on Sunday for a short training camp. United are understood to be willing to pay £12m for Zaha and will then loan him back to the Championship club for the rest of the season. Both clubs have refused to comment on a proposed deal for the 20-year-old. But an agreement could be reached by the end of the week for a player who won his first England cap against Sweden in November. Zaha, who came through the youth academy at Selhurst Park, has scored 15 goals in 124 appearances for the Eagles since his debut against Cardiff in March 2010. He was named the Football League Young Player of the Year last season and attracted the attention of a host of Premier League clubs. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had said he was "looking at Zaha" but today insisted a bid was ...
If you want the Super Eagles of Nigeria to win their matches, then appoint me as a manager/coach! Don’t doubt me because some known names in the game who are managers were not known footballers. Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourihno, Arsene Wenger, Arrigo Sacchi, Orthman Hiltsfield, etc. How will I make the Super Eagles win their matches? Upon my appointment, I will divide my task into two. One, I must instill character into my team. By so doing, I will eliminate rubbish hair styles and any form of arrogance. Because until my players achieve success on the pitch and for the country, they are not yet stars. David Beckham is not Mario Balloteli. Then the character will dictate their discipline and togetherness as a team! I will look for a team leader. It is important in today's football. That is the difference between Manchester United and Arsenal! When Arsenal had a leader in Viera, it was winning. Even Manchester City had to dig deep to appoint Vincent Konpany before it could win the league. The two times Nigeri ...
Paulo Di Canio spent his evening clearing the pitch and buying pizza for anyone who offered to help . dont see Arsene Wenger or Alex Ferguson offering to do that !!
Borrow from other, Its Old but Gold: Alex Ferguson is getting worried about his team's recent poor form against Arsenal. He just can't understand it, Man U are the biggest club in Europe, have all the best players etc, but every time they play the Gunners, they get beaten. So Alex gives Arsene Wenger a call and explains his problem. Arsene is very understanding and invites Alex down to watch his team training. So Alex turns up in London and spends a day watching the Arsenal players. At the end of the training session he says to Arsene "I still don't understand, we seem to do all the same things in training that you do, but you still beat us all the time". "Ah" says Mr Wenger "I don't think its anything to do with the training. I think its because my players are more intelligent than yours" . Alex looks a bit peeved and asks Arsene "What the *** do you mean by that?". "Well" says Arsene, "We also train our boys in lateral thinking". To demonstrate his point he calls over THEO WALCOTT. "THEO, here's a prob ...
Transfer Gossip! Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to ditch David De Gea, 22, and sign a new goalkeeper in January. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning on bringing in two signings in the January transfer window as his side's 2-2 FA Cup draw with Swansea added to the club's fixture congestion. Birmingham keeper Jack Butland could be one of those signings with the Gunners ready to bid for the 19-year-old, who is also attracting interest from Fulham and Southampton. QPR are in talks with French club Marseille over a possible £11m deal for 26-year-old striker Loic Remy, although the Loftus Road outfit face competition from fellow Premier League sides Newcastle and West Ham. Wenger : No One can replace Ferguson at Utd. Arsene Wenger may have guided Arsenal into the Champions League for 16 seasons in a row, but his achievements still fall a long way short of his great rival Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. With Fergie approaching his 71st birthday very soon, the speculation about who could replace him at Old Trafford when he (eventually!) retires. Two obvious candidates are Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, but Wenger thinks that whoever follows him struggle to maintain the status quo and the success of Ferguson’s side. The Arsenal boss said: “I don’t remember anybody else being at the top, top level for such a long time I think, of course, it is a fantastic thing — you can’t even describe the achievement unless you know what that means. “In some ways it is scary as well because you think when this guy leaves the club, no matter of the quality of who comes in after him, it will be a huge hole. The club will be destabilised even if the guy who comes after him is t ...

Man U Manager, Alex Ferguson has hit out at Chelsea for reporting referee Mark Clattenburg to Eng FA over an allegation that he racially abused John Mikel Obi. Ferguson said he didn't believe Chelsea's claims. He said he couldn't believe a match official would stoop so low to abuse a player on the pitch. Ferguson's remarks came on the heels of Arsene Wenger's condemnation of Chelsea's complaint over Clattenburg's alleged racial abuse of John Mikel Obi. Wenger is of the opinion that the matter should be resolved internally. Meanwhile, the under fire referee, Mark Clattenburg wants to continue to officiate matches while investigations are conducted on the allegation levelled against him. Clattenburg has a precedence to back up his request. A linesman, Scott Ledger continued to officiate last year while he was being investigated over homophobic remarks he was alleged to have made.

Alexander Hleb and Iker Casillas will not seize to amaze me. Hleb claim Pep Guardiola is not a better coach as Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, and Jose Mourinho. Well I think Hleb is being reserve with what is really his grieve with Pep. I understand that when Hleb left Arsenal for Barca, Pep Guardiola never gave him that good opportunity to see pep as better coach. I appologise unbehalf of pep Hleb, find it in your heart to pardon Mr Pep but I disagree when you rate Mourinho ahead Guardialo. Fereguson can manage, Arsene can manage, Pep can manage with the little minimum budget to get result. Mourinho is is a multi Million pounds manager before he can get result. So, Hleb you judge between the both who most prudent and result oriented? aS Iker Casillas,CR7 is his team mate mate so he can say what he likes. Even Casillas plays for Barcs he will the other tune. Fifa president Sepp Blatter has taken the time to praise La Liga stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, referring to the duo as living legends. The 76-year-old feels the two are quite different on the pitch, but has nothing but positive words for both the Barcelona star and the Real Madrid attacker. "Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? Both! Ferguson questions Wenger (Picture of the Day) During Friday’s press-conference, Alex Ferguson sensationally joked that Arsene Wenger “could run a poker school in Govan” after capturing Robin Van Persie for a price which took a lot of negotiating. Arsenal boss Wenger taunts Man Utd pair Welbeck, Chicharito: When will you play? Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has warned Manchester United youngsters Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez over their playing chances this season. Wenger lost Robin Van Persie to United yesterday. "Alex Ferguson is a bit too confident when he speaks of '99," said Wenger. "But, of course, it increases their potential offensively because they've got a world-class player. "They have as well a number of players, like Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez, who will have restricted chances to play." My take It's going to be tough, really tough for the duo but Fergie.
It has been a 16-year rivalry, a sporting lifetime of enmity that turned into an unlikely entente cordiale, but the most telling victory of all has occurred off the field. By agreeing to sign Robin Van Persie from Arsenal, Sir Alex Ferguson has inflicted one of Arsene Wenger's most humiliating defeats. In its own way, it is as damaging as the 8-2 thrashing at Old Trafford last August. Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger PA PhotosSir Alex Ferguson has been responsible for several of Arsene Wenger's darkest days Van Persie played that day, missing a penalty but scoring a goal in a game that seemed to crystallise the identities of the two clubs: Arsenal had promise, but United performed. Perhaps it made the Dutchman's decision clearer. As his contract ticked down, he eventually announced he would not sign another. But while his parting gift came in the form of an astonishing eight months of sustained success in the penalty box, his 30 goals propelling Arsenal back into the Champions League, his departure will d ...
Man United Agree £22m Deal to Sign Arsenal Striker Robin Van Persie Realdream Sport Inc Reports: RSI suggests that Old Trafford side have secured the signing of the Emirates Stadium striker. Arsenal will reluctantly sell Robin Van Persie to Manchester United for £22million, according to the reports. The Gunners have been battling to keep hold of the Dutch man despite his refusal to sign a new deal but it is now thought Arsene Wenger does not want to keep an unhappy player in his squad and is ready to cash in. United had been struggling to agree a fee with Arsenal, who were holding out for £25million, but reports now claim a compromise has been reached and Van Persie could be Old Trafford bound before the weekend. Agreeing personal terms with the player will not be a problem and a four-year deal is already said to be in place so as long as a fee can be sorted out the deal will go through. So there you have it: Realdream Sport Inc. Breaks It--- ~It is believed a deal has been struck that would end perh ...

Alex Ferguson goes to Arsene Wenger in a personal plea to let the RVP deal happen I bet that went well... NOT
Manchester United remain hopeful that renewed negotiations with Arsenal this weekend, involving Old Trafford chief executive David Gill, will seal a deal for Robin Van Persie. United have been rebuffed with bids of £10million and £15million for the Dutch striker but manager Alex Ferguson has said the club will “just have to persevere” with their attempts to sign the 29 year-old. Van Persie has told the club that he wants to leave and would prefer to join United rather than Juventus. In his 16 years at the club, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has never sold a player to his rival Ferguson and wants Van Persie, who scored 30 Premier League goals last season, to go abroad if he is to leave rather than join an English rival. But if Manchester United increase their bid in excess of £20million a deal is likely to be brokered this weekend between Gill, 56, and Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis. Both are on the English FA’s Professional Game Board and the FA Council. Gill was in London this week to help ...
Alex Ferguson having his typical moan. As soon as he loses out on Lucas Moura to PSG, he says "I find it quite amazing that a club can pay 36 Million for a 19-year-old boy". Yet, 8 years ago, he paid 30 million for an 18 year old. Then this morning, he moans about Arsenal not wanting to sell to Man Utd, saying he doesnt know why Arsenal and Arsene Wenger arent willing to negotiate with them. But again, a few years ago, Liverpool wanted to buy Gabriel Heinze. Liverpool, in 2007, were Utd's main title rivals, and he refused point blank to negotiate with Liverpool saying, "I can assure you, Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze. We can put that to bed right now and we have done so.
It will be a great mistake 4 Arsene Wenger to sell Van Persie to man-u because i know Alex Ferguson will not sell any of his players to a arrival team. To me Arsenal have now become a training and recruitment ground for other teams.
More rumours about Arsenal’s Van Persie. It is all becoming a bit confusing , with Arsene Wenger saying there have been no fresh bids, Alex Ferguson admitting a bid, and Roberto Mancinisaying that Robin Van Persie is “an Arsenal Player.” Today’s stories will probably just confuse us further, but there might be some truth in them so here goes. The Mirror and the Daily Mail both have reports on the potential transfer of Van Persie to Man City and Man United respectively, but both stories have a common thread, MONEY. The story in the Daily Mail suggests that our Dutch striker would prefer a move to United over City, assuming that Juventus have backed out of the race. This may be true, with City already overloaded with Prima Donna front men. Apparently, Van Persie is insisting on getting the same wages as the top paid player at the club. Rooney is that man, on around £200,000 per week. He got that salary by threatening to leave, sound familiar anyone? The question is, whether United would be willing ...
