(How To Remove Spiritual Hindrances From Your Life Jack Graham “And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to *** to the unquenchable fire.” Mark 9:43 The movie 127 Hours tells the story of Aron Ralston, an adventurer who set out on a hike through Utah’s Canyonlands National Park. Trekking through one deep canyon, Ralston inadvertently jarred a boulder loose. The boulder fell on top of him and wedged his arm against the canyon wall. For days, Ralson was stuck there in the canyon. His arm had lost all circulation and was essentially dead. He finally realized that his only chance for survival was to do the unthinkable: use his pocket knife to cut off his own arm. And that’s just what he did. Ralston survived that horrific ordeal because he was willing to cut off what was killing him for the sake of saving his own life. And just like him, we, as believers in Christ, must have the resolve to cut the things out of our lives th . ...

127 Hours MPAA Rating: R/ Genre: Docudrama/ Stars: James Franco, Amber Tamblyn, Kate Mara, Clemence Poesy, Treat Williams, Kate Burton, Lizzy Caplan/Runtime: 94 minutes I came into this movie with high expectations because Danny Boyle, who brought us 28 DAYS LATER and SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, had a lot to live up to with the quality of those prior movies, and after seeing this movie I can safely say that he did not disappoint and he managed to bring the challenge of creating an interesting movie based on a main character being immobile to life, and not only that, but make it truly captivating as well. The film chronicles the true story of Aron Ralston (James Franco), a recklessly arrogant mountain climber whose arm gets crushed under a boulder during a trip through Utah canyon country, and with no one coming to save him, must decide whether he will die or engage in a truly epic fight for survival. Now the logline and description may not sound like much, but 127 Hours delivers one of the most riveting and incr ...

Just added up my shifts...127 hours this week. If someone parked the fire truck on my arm I would know EXACTLY how Aron Ralston felt.
Tried it today - what did Aron Ralston do that was so special. 3 got it right. Totally not reading.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”John 8:36 It happened in an instant. Without any forewarning, a rock shifted and suddenly Aron’s arm was pinned by a sandstone boulder weighing nearly half a ton. “Help,” he cried, but his voice only reverberated off the canyon walls. He was trapped and he knew it! Aron Ralston’s story about surviving five days in the Utah backcountry before finally severing his own arm to free himself from certain death became a national bestseller and a blockbuster film. Even though most of us will never face such a harrowing experience, we have all felt trapped, unsure of how to escape, desperately longing for freedom. Maybe it was a bad job or the consequences of a poor decision. Perhaps the pain of unforgiveness in a close relationship pressed in on you like a massive boulder. No matter the circumstance, each of us has felt trapped at some point in our lives! Jesus knows we get stuck, not by sandstone, but by sin in our lives. He has come to remove the r ...
Aron ralston is actually so brave and I would love to go to one of his motivational speeches, actual inspiration
Have you ever felt so suffocated that you prefer you would rather stop breathing? I did. I had a horrible experience today that I have to share with you all with an iota of hope that it may help you not going through such a horrendous experience in your life. Ever.   I thought it would be useful to share what I had to go through for those extremely unpleasant ~150 minutes today evening but I’m already starting to realize how painful it is to relive those moments, even when I know it can help some of you. I don’t know if I can ever explain the trauma but I definitely can’t do that tonight. Those minutes when time seems to have frozen for ad infinitum. Those seconds when you think that there can’t be a worst moment that you’ll experience in life again but proven wrong in the immediate next second.   I’ll simply limit this with saying that I had my Aron Ralston moments today. I watched a movie called, 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela'.
Aron Ralston is an awesome human being!
Whenever I'm having a hard day, or a difficult moment, I remember Aron Ralston in 127 Hours...
Quite a few people showed up to the FWS hearing in Denver. A lot more people signed up to testify than they had time for. I didn't get an opportunity to speak, but I turned in written comments. The pro-wolf comments were excellent. Aron Ralston was among the wolf supporters. Out of two hours of testimony with a two minute time limit per speaker, only one person spoke in favor of delisting the wolf. It was really awesome to see how much people care.
Loved that Aron Ralston, author of "Between a Rock and a Hard Place" and subject of the film 127 Hours, just spoke out on protecting our wolves!

Daily Devotional The Time for Radical Action is Now Alex Crain, Editor, Christianity.com "...if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." romans 8:13 Aron Ralston's grisly experience during a climbing expedition illustrates a spiritual truth that makes me wince. If you aren't familiar with the story, take a look at his book, Between a Rock and a Hard Place (© 2004 Simon & Schuster), which is a detailed tell-all of his ordeal that occurred in late April 2003. The experienced 27 year-old outdoorsman jumped into his truck that spring morning, bringing just enough food and water for the day. He took off by himself, driving 150 miles south of Salt Lake City to his favorite spot—a remote canyon area that used to be the hideout for wild-west outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. By afternoon, he was suspended seventy-five feet high off the canyon floor—climbing in a crevice that was just a few feet wide. It was a near perfect day. But then without warning, a boulder suddenl ...

If someone could give me some feedback on a paper that I have to write that would be great! It's a thesis driven essay. Basically we have to use a movie as an aid to prove a point that we have. Here's my intro. Thanks Solitude. This is at the top of mankind’s biggest fears, but why? Is it that one is mentally incapable of being alone, or could it be that one is simply in fear of their physical being not being “protected”? Whatever the cause may be, one thing remains the same throughout a individual being alone (away from mankind), you find out who you really are, what’s important and what you’re capable of. 127 Hours tells a story of man (Aron Ralston) who enjoyed being in the wilderness and felt confident enough to enjoy it alone. It’s very clear that Aron viewed the wilderness as a place of adventure and freedom, and this brought him no fear, but satisfaction. His comfortability came to a halt when a boulder landed on his arm, immobilizing him for 127 hours (approximately 5 days). As Aron re ...

Great day today at work! I won a $200 Visa Gift card and I got to meet and hear motivational speaker Aron Ralston whose life story was made into the movie 127 hours. What an amazing story to live through! just reminds you to appreciate the little things in life we take for granted sometimes, a whole lot more!
Aron Ralston gave a talk today to our company about his experience of cutting off his own arm while rock climbing. One lady passed out and multiple others had to leave and get fresh air. Very engrossing story though. Now hoping my job doesn't call for severe dehydration and stabbing myself with a knife.
"Courage" In 2002 Aron Ralston abandoned a promising career to move to Colorado. He wanted to pursue his passion for mountain climbing. So, in April 2003, he went on a spur of the moment solo trip to the Canyon National Park in Utah. While climbing in Bluejohn Canyon his arm became trapped by an eight hundred pound boulder. For six days Aron suffered dehydration, hunger, and sleeplessness. Convinced that he was going to die, he used his camcorder to record a final good-bye to his parents and younger sister. Then on day six he received an epiphany. He could use his mini tool to saw through his forearm and then use his body for leverage to free himself. He then walked six miles until he found help. That is what you call courage.
There is no fear for a man with courage to face it. Live positively just like Aron Ralston.

127 HOURS: Danny Boyle's film chronicling the harrowing true life story of Aron Ralston who, in 1983 went mountain climbing alone and ended up in a crevasse with his arm stuck underneath a boulder. This is an intense, well-executed and acted film starring James Franco as Aron. Boyle starts the film as somewhat of a glamorous commercial for extreme sports; with split screens, and beautiful scenic panoramas. Franco goes to the desert, has a fun run-in with some cute girls, (Amber Tamblyn & Kate Mara) and then goes off alone where circumstances lead him to be trapped. From that point on, the movie gets darker and there are some very nice stylistic choices blending nature with the past, memory with hallucinations. In and out of these visions drift Treat Williams, Clemence Poesy, Lizzy Caplan (Franco's FREAKS & GEEKS co-star) and others, but they are there, not as characters but mostly as props. Make no mistake, the movie has two real stars: nature and Franco. Nature looks stunning and behaves badly. Franco gi ...

From Brother Dave Parton Thoughts on HAC and FBC I was recently laid off from HAC due to the financial crunch in our ministries. Since everyone is trolling for juicy post, I would like to share some thoughts: 1. I am so thankful that FBC has an HR department with some manhood about them. The easy choice would have been to keep everybody on-board and let us all go down with the ship at the same time. These guys made the same tough choice that Aron Ralston, a hiker from Colorado, had to make, only these guys had to make that choice multiple times. Aron had to cut of his hand and free himself from a bolder to survive. Aron did survive, and so will First Baptist Church and her related ministries. 2. I am pumped to see what my former colleagues will do with their lives as they are being disbursed throughout this country. One of my friends has accepted a pastorate in Oklahoma. Another friend is going back to central Illinois to work in his home church. Many are seeking God’s will and looking for a place to se ...
What a treat to hear and meet Aron Ralston! Thank you Rick!!!
Tonight I went to see an amazing an inspirational speaker, Aron Ralston. For anyone who doesn't know, Ralston's right hand was smashed under a boulder while hiking in Southern Utah in 2003, and after surviving pinned there for over five days, he had to amputate his own arm to escape alive. I am not going to deny it, but I did cry as he was re-telling his incredible story of survival. He made me realized that the challenges I have gone through are just stones in my path to a succesful and fructiferous life.

Aron Ralston describes amputating his own arm that was caught under a boulder.
Getting ready to hear Aron Ralston (127 hours) speak to our team. Awesome wknd.
Can't stop thinking about two extraordinary men I heard speak at the convention last week in San Antonio.Captain Sully Sullenberger (USair pilot who saved so many lives by landing his plane safely in the Hudson River) and Aron Ralston (the hiker who was trapped for six days and saved his own life by cutting off his arm). These men are heroes who represent the true American spirit. Then I think about our candidates running for office.

Really horrible. Whoever didn't watch "127 hours", will miss it.
I'm a bit behind on my movie watching. Today I finally watched "127 Hours." Wow!And to think I almost turned it off at the beginning thinking I wasn't that interested. But I love James Franco and kept watching. I became so intrigued by the story that I looked up Aron Ralston on Google and watched an hour and a half interview with him done by Tom Brokaw. I CANNOT get this story out of my mind. I must quit feeling "pinned down" by my broken leg.
What would you do in Aron Ralston's situation?
A very smart young brother who I respect a lot told me there are many things not HUMANLY Possible.. that are Outside the limits of Human Ability... On the Outside I have to Agree. I suppose that We cannot Fly, or Lift a Train, Swim around the world etc.. many things are not within our Physical Ability to do. He is Right so then I countered with Matthew 19:26 "Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." .He admitted that THROUGH God all things are possible, but not with man. Again I couldn't disagree as to our human limitations so I thought about Impossibilities .. I have a question... Not knowing this story is this Possible or Impossible? ., Hiking his way through a 3-foot-wide section of Utah's Blue John Canyon, Aron Ralston had no warning before the giant boulder shifted onto him, pinning his right arm in a crack in the canyon wall. . He had been stuck for four days when his water ran out. On the sixth day, the 27-year-old mountain climber knew the ...

watching 127 hours on star movies..if i were James Franco a.k.a Aron Ralston, i cannot survive being trapped by a boulder on an isolated canyon without food and water.oh jeez...i'm goin' to commit suicide either.
if you have not seen 127 hopurs with James Franco, you need to watch this movie, Aron Ralston, was a canyoneer, he was climbing a 800 lb boulder, the boulder fell, making Ralston's right arm and forearm lodged, and stuck between the boulder and canyon wall. Surviving 127 hours(5 days and 7 hours) with only 350 ml of water and two burritos. reaching 4 days, he began to notice that his arm was decaying , and realized he couldn't feel anymore, he then broke his arm, and for one hour he amputated his right arm. he them broke free and proceeded to saftey. He survived the blood lose. He lost 25% of blood and 40 lbs of body weight. He survived 127 hours of peer suffering of food and water.
Aron Ralston he deserves a nobel peace prize if you don't know him you don't know anything ok
Finally watched 127 hours, with James Franco. The story about Aron Ralston getting his arm stuck under a rock that got dislodged when he was hiking in the desert. I don't think I'll ever leave the house unprepared now when I head to the mountain. Hist story proves you can never be too prepared. Pretty *** good movie if you haven't seen it yet.
Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours” recreates the ordeal of Aron Ralston, the hiker who decided to extricate himself from a narrow slot of rock by severing an arm.
