Our children all did theater when growing up. It’s awesome for me now have them telling me about their continued appreciation for theater as adults. My son the Army Major and instructor at West Point told this week about enjoying an amazing revival of “Pippin” by the American Reparatory Theater, including circus acrobats, in Cambridge, MA. And he recently took has six-year-old daughter to see Wicked on Broadway. My daughter, who auditions for Broadway shows, told me about “Warhorse”, an amazing Broadway show she just saw, with puppeteers creating live horses on stage. It ends its run today and goes on the road. My daughter, who teaches high school music in Arizona, will do a bang up job this season with “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”.

Any of us who are readers, of just about anything, have favorite authors if not characters in the format we chose. I love books about the military, spys, policemen and women. One of my all time fav author/character teams is Lee Child/ Jack Reacher. Look them up, you may like them also. But Jack Reacher is 6ft 5in tall and goes about 250 lbs. A big strong ex Army Major and MP and do gooder. And cast to play him is Tom Cruise, all 5ft 7 or 8 in tall and maybe 195 is going to play him in a movie. Serious miscasting here. Really disappointed the studio.

ok so for all of you who are living vicariously through me or just interested. Date 2 didn't go so well. He is a Army Major who is stationed about an 1 and 1/2 from here. We were supposed to meet at 6:30p and go to a high school football game and then out for pizza...not very romantic...but my kind of date. Anyway he was detained and didn't even get to Tucson until about 9:15p. We went to a restuarant and ordered. Salad came and he received a phone call saying he needed to be back on base ASAP. We boxed the rest of the food and he brought me home. Last night I talked to the President of OSS-101 who as an US Army Major led a battalion of Kachin American Rangers during WW2. I asked him how he recruited the Kachins. He said three tribal leaders decided to join Allied Forces and promised to supply the Kachin soldiers. Seven Allied transport planes air-dropped war weapons for 1,200 soldiers between seven & ten AM when the morning fog in Myitkyina made it impossible for Japanese troops to see the planes. They air-dropped uniforms as well as Enfield rifles, American M-1 Carbines, British Bren-guns and heavy machine guns and mortars. They were organized into four Kachin-American Ranger companies and within a day the three tribal leaders had appointed Kachin officers and NCOs to lead them.
