Day 2 with our Work & Witness Team: Josh took the team to a local food bank on the far east El Paso area. I stayed behind with Esther since a 2 year old isn't welcome at a food bank storehouse. It sounds like everyone had a good time. I heard that the food bank was quite happy to have us come in since they haven't had any volunteers since May and only have 2 full-time workers. Our team were able to do several jobs for them. After spending the morning there, we went to Nazarene Border's mission house to do some light yard work (the waterway needed cleared and there was a patch where there were a lot of glass, bricks, etc that needed put in a trailer so we could take it to the dump). After working in the hot sun, we gave the teens mini-water guns and had a water fight - which felt amazing, and I had the hose (in charge of the re-filling stations). We headed to our VBS site around 6pm and I was able to take a few pictures tonight.
Okay, gotta tell this on myself. Warning...this will be a long post! Mother and I made a trip to Quitman to move things out of my old room and into my new room. (Not so much to do, thanks to James Kelley and Tanya Irby for moving tons of other stuff! And maybe other helpers too???) WelI, I had stupidly left my bankcard on the console of my car. When we got ready to leave and buy gas, I noticed the card was gone. I realized I'd left the car unlocked and just panicked. So, went to Bank Plus in Quitman and reported it stolen. Thankfully, no charges had been made! Whew, I felt better! Got a new card after cancelling the old one. Afterwards, mother and I decided to have a late lunch before buying gas and heading home. Ordered our food, looked down and my new card was gone! Dummy had put it in the same place I'd put the original card. I used another card to pay, and mother and I began to search the car - knowing it HAD to be in there. I mean we had just left the bank! If you know my mother, you know she start . ...

My Visit in Heaven I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, " This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received." I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world. Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section. The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here , the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them." I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth. Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small ...

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — Suspected Islamic militants have opened fire on students taking exams at a school in the country's troubled northeast, killing at least nine pupils in the latest violence to wrack the volatile region, witnesses said Tuesday. Bodies of the children in their school uniforms were brought to the local morgue, according to a hospital official who insisted on anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information to journalists. Monday's attack at Ansarudeen Private School in Maiduguri marked the second time in days that suspected radical fighters have attacked schools. The military reported that 13 people, including high school students and teachers, were killed Sunday night during a five-hour shootout when extremists attacked a boarding school in Damaturu, the state capital of Yobe state. A student who survived that attack by hiding under a dormitory bed said dozens of fighters who identified themselves as Boko Haram — which means "Western education is sacrilege" — ...

Topic of discussion: Rights of the 2nd Amendment - State that, the American people have the rights to bear arms in a military fashion and or forum so long as it is in the interest and safety of self preservation, though the Right to have or own a weapon for self defense or for the purpose of hunting for food or purpose of work, where in work takes one to the wilds of a tamed or known or untamed or unknown area, part of land that or where wild life of human threat is known to exist, or does exist, or will exist once it is invaded or stepped into by man, so that the Right to have a fire arm and or own a fire arm was never challenged until Clinton for political gain of people in federal offices, but our Rights to own and know how to use a fire arm have never been threatened or denied, they simply changed the wording on the rules to keep fire arms out of non federal business or property, so that you still have the right in every state to carry a fire arm once the appropriate license is paid for and a mandator ...
The Food Bank is fortunate to have a dynamic community of supporters that help us continue our mission of eradicating hunger in Nebraska and western Iowa.
I recently had an idea come to mind while watching updates on the on both KKTV 11 News, and KRDO NewsChannel 13 / KRDO.com. This idea stems from the large amounts of received by Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado, especially after once again seeing how generous this community can be during an emergency. However, those of you that know me personally know that I don’t come from a marketing background; nor do I have any points of contact with these large companies I reference below. I’m merely a man with an idea, and considering a 13 year old can change the Easy Bake Oven for her younger brother through social media, I thought I’d get my idea out there as well. This idea comes from my many years of being a parent of four amazing children. I’m sure there are many parents out there with me, that have experienced the following. It’s Friday morning, been a very long week, so your mind is still going 100 mph and its only 6:15am. Into the kitchen walks your kid and they ask “Daddy, di ...

5 - Bible Verses about Money every Christian Needs to Know. 1. Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. If you have lived much life at all, you are probably well aware that putting your trust in the economy, your employer, or your bank account is not a good idea. They are all fair-weather friends. They all can be helping you greatly one minute, and then the next everything has changed. God, however is always faithful. That is why we should always be trusting Him as our supply! It doesn’t matter if there is a financial crisis, if you get laid off, or your 401k loses 37% – God will still supply your needs. Just like He promised. 2. Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” It is a bold step of faith to start tithing ...
I just read an article about a woman named Breatharian Navenna Shine of Seattle. As a practitioner of Breatharianism, she claimed to be able to live on only sunlight, without the need to ingest any food or water. After making her claims public, she attempted to prove just that, but after a month and half into her attempt, she decided to end her “experiment”. In a long and rambling open letter posted on her blog, Living on Light, the 65-year-old Shine says she had no choice but to call it quits after running out of money to pay her Internet and phone bills, and nearly being kicked out of her temporary trailer home. She also claims the comments she received after her “spiritual journey” went public proved that the world wasn’t ready to learn the Truth. She writes in her letter: From the feedback I am getting it is becoming patently clear that most of the world is by no means ready to receive the information I am attempting to produce. Even if it were true that a person can “Live on Light” and ...

Help Needed - A friend of mine is a home health nurse. One of her patients is in poor health and elderly. Living alone on a small fixed income. So many are scraping by with just enough means to support them self. This gentleman owns a small breed dog and it very much needs to be treated with fleas and some skin issues. Which is probably caused by the fleas. I have sent one application of Frontline as well as some medicated shampoo along with the 7 way shot bought at Tractor Supply. This sweet baby will need a rabies shot and probably a skin scrape to insure the fleas are the issue. Probably capstar or something similar. Very easily could need more. The question is how can we help this man. Tears swell up in his eye when he ask what he could do. I quiet honestly don't know where to start other than what I already have done. He needs to keep his dog but yet the dog needs some medical attention. Rescue is not an option I think if his dog was to be taken it would be detrimental to him. We are in Pulaski Coun ...

I strolled around the international airplane a few times to stretch my legs. Also had an aspirin to try to prevent blood clots. Had a visceral thrill watching “Cuba” “Brazil” and so on pass under us on the flight monitor. Nodded off a bit. Woke just in time to catch the breakfast cart passing by, which came with a side of customs declaration page. I felt like I snuck through customs: I put my bag on the scanner, walked through, picked up my bag, and it didn’t seem like anyone noticed me at all. Nobody even asked for the customs page I filled out. And then I was officially on Argentine soil. It was a bit of a trick to find the bus I needed: I gave my voucher to someone inside the terminal who gave me a ticket, and then gave the ticket to the bus and got another ticket for my luggage. Got to try a bit of rudimentary Spanish on the gentleman who sat next to me: “Es mi primero viaje en Buenos Aires.” He didn’t engage much, not sure whether from my lack of vocabulary or not really wanting to ta ...

What's the main difference in targeting largemouth vs smallmouth bass?
Our first embarrassing moment with Landon .. We went to the doctor this morning. Brian ,Landon and I were sitting down when a lady weighing all of 400 lbs or more walked in and stood right in front of us to check in. Landon said " Look Daddy Look Mama..BIG BUTT" and he continued to say it a couple of times before we could gather ourselves and make a real good "NO" face . I actually remember him learning that the other night when we were playing on the bed.. He said " Look Mama has BIG butt and Landon has tiny Butt" :0 Yay for learning :)
Welcome lazy summer! Lots of news happening in my cancer world: bumps again, major surgery, but still the same chemo. Believe it or not, it is almost three years since I was rediagnosed in August of 2010. I remember falling apart and crying because I wasn't sure if I would survive to see the boys graduate from high school. It is still 2 and 4 years away but I feel much more confident that I will be around for those graduations. What kind of shape I will be in at those times is a very big question but I do think that I will be there. I wondered at the time if I would live even five years and heck, it is already been 3 years, more than half of that. Three years can go by awfully fast and I am glad to still be here for my boys and my family. Lumps, bumps, and me. When I was first diagnosed the very first time in October of 2005, I had a lump on the left side of my left breast. After much debate and consultation, I had a mastectomy to remove the breast. In August of 2010, again I ha ...

Timebanking is an organized way for people to give and receive services while using Time dollars instead of monetary currency. One hour of service equals one Time dollar. FAQ What is a Timebank?A timebank is like a local community bank that keeps track of time instead of US dollars. For every hour you spend doing something for someone in your community, you earn one hour to use to have someone do something for you. It is an alternative way to give and receive resources. How does an exchange work?Let's say you need someone to help out in the garden for two hours. You can post a request to the timebank or search the timebank directory and contact another member to set up an exchange. A timebank member then comes by and helps out in the garden. Once the service is completed, you transfer hours on the timebank from your account to the service provider. You've spent two time dollars and another member has earned two time dollars that s/he can spend elsewhere in the timebank. You can also post service offer ...

Who is Jose Filomeno Dos Santos "Zenu" GITATO-Source President Jose Eduardo dos Santos' children, Jose Filomeno "Zenu" dos Santos is the one that seems to have a critical vision of the country's social situation. When he travels to the provinces he makes a critical and expert assessment of the situation, at times highlighting a certain slowness or bad faith on the part of the local authorities that are rather slow about their work. On his return from those trips he conveys his findings to his father which further enhances his standing as an information source to the Angolan head of State. Jose Filomeno de Sousa dos Santos is the son of Jose Eduardo dos Santos and Filomena de Sousa "Necas," the daughter of a Cape Verde citizen and an Angolan mother. At the time that Zenu's parents were still married, his father was serving as minister of foreign affairs while his mother was a clerk in that ministry in Luanda's Vila Clotilde Ward (now Vila Alice). After Zenu was born his mother went to live at Porto Alexand ...

With summer vacation just days away, you'd expect most kids to check out already. Not so with the kids that visited today from Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy (Washington, DC). Sophomores from Chavez, working on Op-Eds, toured the food bank and asked a lot of hard hitting questions about hunger in the Washington metro area. We were very proud to see them engaged in a Face Hunger course and look forward to further visits.

Drug Testing for Food Stamps? There are going to be several Farm bills up for a vote in the House of Representatives this week. They deal with different items, but one really stands out. It seems that a Republican from NC, Richard Hudson, wants to require drug testing for anyone who needs food stamps. Makes you wonder what is next on their agenda!
What a morning... the hair appointment that wasn't. Got my wires crossed on times so I'm home. BUT... there's always a silver lining in the day if you make one. We're going to lunch with Daughter and family at Red Lobster. Mother has been in a snit all day...and imagining all kinds of family kerfluffel... only our family doesn't have kerfluffells. They only happen in her head. Anyway... I told her if she wanted to go with us she needed to put a happy face on or she was welcome to stay home and eat a pimento cheese sandwich. She said she'd be happy, then stuck her tongue out at me, and yes, that's how we're rolling today. LOL Finally got a handle on the WIP. It will write itself now, but lord love a duck...finding the hero and heroine's voices can sometimes be trying, especially when they are continuing characters. They've been secondary characters in other books, and all of a sudden must become the leads. Woe and sigh and boo-hooty-hoo... the joys of writing series. LOL This is random, but th ...
I was sitting here reading the Sunday paper and got to the OPINION page and Letters to the Editor. One letter caught my eye and I could so relate since this happened to me on the way back from Charleston the other day, a couple times or so.. And me being sometimes opinionated and vocal about things going on around me that usually somehow I am in the middle of or affected by or see that it may be a concern for someone else... well, I have been known to write to Letters to the Editor...and so,... since this letter hit close to home for me, it brought with it a couple other issues that I say I am going to be Vocal about by writing or calling to let that opinion of mine be known and maybe it will help in some way make life a little better and easier.. for me and others. Ok, so I guess I should show you the letter that was in the paper and then add my letter that I wrote back.. and of course there is NO guarantee that my letter will even be in the paper.. but one time I wrote a humorous Opinion letter about .. ...

THE PUBLIC DESERVES TO KNOW! DANGER! DANGER! DANGER! On Friday 6/14/13 and the early morning of 6/15/13 A woman was lured from the bar and taken out by herself into the woods on a ''RAZOR'' and gang beaten by 2 male and 2 female individuals. They broke her nose, punched, kicked, shoved, pulled her hair, and shot her with fireworks. Pine county's Finest (Officer M. A.) talked the woman out of pressing charges. Is It because we all know these 4 that did this evil act or is because of their last names?? Help spread the word so this doesn't happen to your daughter or anyone else!
Warrnambool winter trout options... Winter is a time when many trout anglers pack away their gear. For most it is an enforced lay off as there is a closed season in place for trout in streams and rivers in Victoria over the winter period. Happily, a few rivers in the state remain open due to their classification as sea run trout fisheries. A good place to find such winter trout options is around Warrnambool, in the southwest of the state. WHY THE SOUTHWEST? What makes perfectly sane individuals want to go and fish for trout in the coldest months of the year? In the southwest rivers it is all about quality of fish rather than quantity. Unlike other trout waters in the state that provide large numbers of fish, but with a small average size, southwest fish average 1-1.8kg, with enough 2kg plus fish around to keep you soldiering on in the cold weather. There can be a lot of water between fish though, and many nice looking locations, good casts and nice drifts go unrewarded. There seems to be a number of reaso ...
FOR MY GENEALOGY BUDDIES: Many of you probably just received the same email I did from Julie Miller, NGS Vice President, explaining why the speaker compensation for NGS conferences is so small and why many of us have decided to skip the NGS altogether because it just doesn't make good fiscal sense for us to speak at an event where even our basic travel costs aren't covered. I have been an NGS member for many years, and have nothing against Julie or the organization, but I wanted to share my response to her email ... and I'm curious to see what you all think. . Thank you, Julie, for the explanation. However, what I was hoping to see, but didn't, was the NGS' commitment to examine alternate revenue streams, which would allow the organization to increase the speaker compensation to an affordable level for all. Even in today's less than stellar economy, teeny-tiny genealogical societies are still getting corporate grants to use for their own conferences. Targeting the educational aspects of these events, or . ...

Revolution, Women And Social Media in The Middle East "The power of women is in their stories. They are not theories, they are real lives that, thanks to social networks, we are able to share and exchange," said Egyptian-American activist Mona el-Tahawey, kicking off a summit that brought more than a hundred of the Middle East's leading female activists together in Cairo. If national parliaments and assemblies do not already provide potential female candidates, experience has shown without a doubt that the largest and most capable talent pool is -beyond politics- in business, arts, civil society and academia. Testimonial from a Forever customer for Crohns which also touches on asthma, arthritis and eczema.quite a long read but this lady has had a lot going on in her life! I came down with Crohns in July 2000. Crohns is an Inflammatory Bowel Disease which when a flare up occurs causes severe cramping, sickness, diarrhoea. I was so ill at the time when I cramped I had to move around the house on all fours. I went down to 6 stone as I could only eat small things. If I ate too much I would throw it back up again. Doctors told me it was just IBS but I knew it wasn’t. I eventually got them to refer me to a specialist and in November 2000 I was finally diagnosed (family history of Colitis and the doctors knew this). I had a resection operation in January 2001 (this is where they remove the inflamed bowel section since no food was getting through and the steroids were not working) and join up my bowel again. However the resection came apart the next day as they hadn’t realised how malnourished I was. The c ...

URBAN LOCAL GOVERNMENT: Municipal governance in India has been in existence since the year 1687 with the formation of Madras Municipal Corporation and then Calcutta and Bombay Municipal Corporation in 1726. In early part of the nineteenth century almost all towns in India had experienced some form of municipal governance. In 1882 the then Viceroy of India, Lord Ripon's resolution of local self-government laid the democratic forms of municipal governance in India. In 1919, a Government of India act incorporated the need of the resolution and the powers of democratically elected government were formulated. Day 3 Aww, come on Ralphie!!! You can’t be this close to the house they used to film A Christmas Story and not stop by and take some quick pictures. From there we hopped on I-90 headed for Michigan. The weather was ideal for riding, the traffic not so much, and Holy Toledo the construction going on all over the Interstate. We joined a biker gang for a few minutes but they were driving well in excess of the posted 60 mph (they probably just robbed a bank) they left us in the dust like a couple of mud hens. Soon we crossed over into Michigan and made our way to the Reardon’s. They were kind enough to be our host while we were swinging by their neighborhood. We were treated to a homemade gourmet lunch and spent a couple hours chatting before we were back on the road. For this part of the journey we wanted to go another 250 more miles or so. The weather was still very favorable and we pressed on and on. When we were about 50 miles from our ultimate destination of the day the riding became easier beca ...

Interview Question: What do you mean by general banking staff?
There was drama at the National Savings and Credit Bank (NATSAVE) in Luwingu district in the Northern Province when one customer refused to receive the new rebased currency. Musonda Bwalya of Senior Chief Shimumbi rejected the money, saying he was not conversant with the new Kwacha notes and appealed to the bank management to consider giving him the old currency. He lamented that people in his area will not accept the new notes because the money was very little compared to the value of the old currency. Mr Bwalya said it was surprising to note this morning that the bank had started issuing new currency without informing the community in senior Chief Shimumbi’s and other far flung areas. The visibly annoyed Mr Bwalya said he came to withdraw money for the maize he supplied to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) last year at the value of K3,000,000 but when he received K3,000 he said the money was very little. He said that his wife would not accept the K3,000 instead of the K3,000,000 the two budgeted for. He s ...
2012 has proved to be the biggest Santa Meal Appeal yet, showing the depth of the social problems in the C.P.R. area. The “Churches Together” have responded to the challenge, supported by many members of the public and local businesses. This year schools and colleges have also worked to support all aspects of the needs of local families. Reflecting on the five hectic days leading up to Christmas, the friendship and fellowship of all those who sacrificed time and effort to ensure that all the meals were assembled and delivered on time was a joy to behold. Our God is indeed a great God and all the needs were met to the last mince pie! Locking up the Church on Christmas eve the preparation area was completely empty! Every last item of food was used to supply a great Christmas lunch for over 200 families. Collating the figures has produced astounding results. Due to logistics, we decided that the maximum we could handle and support was 200. The final results were 205 family meals assembled and delivered. ...
We helped people out with an off date pantry today. Tuesday is our normal day, so moved it down a day. Our food bank was closed and therefore did not ship food. But, with plans we had plenty. As I figured, not a big turn out. But, we did serve over 60 families. We have lots of produce left over that will not last until our next pantry. Plans are underway to give that out, but not sure how that is going to work just yet. It was a good day, with plenty of good help. Did I say "I love our volunteers"? They are the BEST! Check out our ongoing fund raiser on our page and help us to continue what we are doing for food insecure families in the Mexia, TX area. It is as easy as an online donation that is secure and simple. Thanks. (BTW, you can pass that fund raiser along to your friends. We will be doing some promotion in the near future.)
Twenty-two joined us for tonight's Service of the Word, and 55 families received two days' worth of groceries, plus various assorted breads and pastries. Quite a few took advantage of the opportunity to peruse our clothing racks, and a good number of winter coats and jackets found new homes tonight. Thanks to our friends at the Capital Area Food Bank for letting us get the first shopping appointment of the new year, and we able to include some large heads of cabbage, 3# bags of carrots, apples, and onions in our bags this evening. Big thanks to all who worked to make tonight go smoothly. May God bless each of you in this new year.

We wanted to thank everyone who came to the DC Networking Food Drive at Rahama Restaurant in Washington DC on Friday December 21st in order to network and to support the Capital Area Food Bank. We had a great time meeting Ghanaian professionals who work on Capital Hill, medical dietitians, medical doctors, a Psychologist, a few lawyers, IT associates in every field from programmers (one drove all the way from Richmond, VA) to network analysts including a K Street Political activist who got us all excited about advocacy and the director of sales at Mercedes. Each came to give what they could in canned goods for the needy and to meet other Ghanaian professionals. Some of us went for the great food. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule in order to share with the less fortunate and to network with other Ghanaian professionals and friends of Ghana. We look forward to such opportunities in 2013 and hope you join us. Happy New Year all. Pictures to follow.

Money, money, money! What a pain in the backside! I, like many of you am struggling and money is needed for prepping, and I hear a lot of people using that an excuse not to prep. I say; if you can't afford to prep, then focus on the things that take no money to prep or very little money. Here's some things you can do to prep that don't cost money or cost very little. Feel free to add to the list, to inspire others to start the none money preps. 1) Start a garden, it doesn't cost anything but seeds and we have a seed bank so if you need some seeds we might have some we can send you. 2) Buy a couple chickens. It's not free, but you can get them cheap and they pay for themselves quickly enough, producing eggs for your family. Same goes for a couple of goats. 3) There are ways to improve how energy efficient your home is. You can actually call your electric company and ask for an audit. They'll do one for free and sometimes give you free bulbs, and I even once got a brand new free fridge. The more energy effe ...

Hello Friends! We would like to take a moment and thank our current End of Day (After Hours) Angels. They purchase our stock left over at the end of day to help us clear stock and donate to our mission of Food for Kids. They are: Hydro Bank, SWOSU Foundation, IPS and Wright Radio. They have been a great blessing to us and area children. We are asking for your help - as we enter the new year, we would like to have every evening sponsored by an End of Day Angel. We work together to come up with a minimum amount (you always get more) at a reduced price. We have everything boxed and ready for pick-up after hours or the next morning (even before opening). WE NEED - Tues, Friday and Saturday angels on a regular basis. Are YOU an angel for 2013??? Please contact Deb at 774-2008 to learn more. Blessings and thank you for your consideration.
I hope all of you are having a wonderful break and enjoying some time with your children! The money was given to the Ecumenical Food bank at St.Paul's church to help those in the Greenville area. We will be resuming school on Jan. 7th. Our class will certainly miss Mr. DeJong! See you on the 7th! Dianne Sabinas
Is making a significant change in your finances one of your new year’s resolutions? How many years have you said, “this year I’m going to really do something to make more money.” How many years have you found yourself falling short of your desired outcome? If you continue to do the same thing year after year, you will get the same results. If you truly believe that 2013 is your year, then you must do something drastically different than you did last year and every year before that. One of the first things you should consider changing this year is where you spend your time. You might think that it matters little where you frequent in determining your success, however that would be a huge mistake. Here’s a simple example to drive home the point. Both a bank and a check cashing facility do multiple financial transactions in a day, yet the clientele that they serve is dramatically different in income level, thought process and behavior. The Bank manager has a different level of education and underst ...

800 Food Items Donated to Area Food Bank by Local Students ATLANTA, GA. — Atlanta Heights Charter School (AHCS) students helped fill the Atlanta Community Food Bank with 800 non-perishable food items this holiday season. AHCS students who are involved in Girl Scouts hosted the drive which ended Dec. 15. Organizers had to deliver the food in two shifts because of the large amount. The Food Drive is one part of AHCS’s Got Gratitude? Campaign. AHCS encouraged students to take their November virtue of gratitude and put it into action. Students participated in the Food Drive, as well as a shoe drive, inspired by The Soul Project. “We are both ecstatic and joyful with the success of our first Atlanta Heights’ student-led campaign of ‘Got Gratitude?’. The Atlanta Heights’ scholars definitely took the initiative and showed their heart,” said Melissa Jones Clarke, principal at Atlanta Heights Charter School. “It’s wonderful to see young people giving back in such a big way,” said Bill Bolling ...

"A lot of people are hungry."- Passerby at FNBS yesterday. Because hunger itself is a hidden biological mechanism, it's easy to forget that there are dozens of hungry people around you every moment of the your daily life. All humans experience it, but when hunger becomes a chronic condition, we of course have a major problem. The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank's 2010 Hunger Study is an extensive look at hunger in our own area. Feeding America also put out a national Hunger Study in 2010 that can give you a more holistic view of hunger in the US. Both docs are a bit of a read, but they're interesting, poignant, and quite pertinent to what we're doing at FNBS. ENJOY! This is from J David Stuart We just delivered 16,000 shake meals to the Huntington Area Food Bank which feeds Southern Ohio, Eastern KY, and Southern WV. Due to power outages, we've lost TONS (literally TONS) of food. Could not keep meats cool so we threw out all the kids protein for July. We need your help. We could seriously use 30,000 bags of shake just so the kids we feed each month will get their necessary protein. They don't have school lunches so between this, Food Stamps and WIC, this is all they have. Please designate your Community Challenge to Huntington City Mission/FBC Good Samaritan in WV (Pastor Steve) and Visalus will get the shakes to us ASAP!!! What a tremendous success! On Saturday June 16, 2012 employees and friends of Wells Fargo volunteered to collect grocery items for those in need at the Giant Food in the Town & Country Shopping Center in Falmouth. Flyers were printed along with a most needed items list to allow shoppers at the store to purchase items that area families need. The shoppers purchased a few items off the list while they were doing their personal shopping, and then brought the selected items to the Wells Fargo volunteers for them to bring to the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank. Earlier this week, 850 pounds nutritious food was collected and donated to the food bank for the hungry of our community. Ways to go Wells Fargo Volunteers, Giant Food and you for making this Food Drive such a huge success! Thank you.
