Boxing: Scott Quigg faces title defence against Venezuelan Scott Quigg will defend his WBA world super-bantamweight title with a fight against mandatory opponent Nehomar Cermeno in Manchester on 19 April. The unbeaten 25-year-old from Bury retained his title last November with a second-round technical knockout victory over Diego Oscar Silva of Argentina. Quigg had been linked with an all-British bout against Northern Ireland's Carl Frampton but must fight Cermeno. Venezuelan Cermeno has a record of 22 wins, five defeats and a draw. Promoter Eddie Hearn believes 34-year-old Cermeno will provide a stern test for Quigg. "Cermeno already holds impressive victories over Cristian Mijares and undefeated Oscar Escandon in his last outing," Hearn said. "Scott is in the toughest fight of his career against a mandatory challenger and interim champion." Former IBF bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell and Olympic gold medallists Anthony Joshua and Luke Campbell will also appear on the bill.
Callum Smith, Anthony Joshua and Luke Campbell will all become world champions.

Here's a question i forgot to ask after The Olympic Games finished: Who do you think will go the furthest in their professional careers, should they decide to go pro? - Anthony Joshua: Super heavyweight Gold. - Luke Campbell: Bantamweight Gold. - Fred Evans: Welterweight Silver. - Anthony Ogogo: Middleweight Bronze. - Thomas Stalker: Light Welterweight. - Andrew Selby: Flyweight. - Josh Taylor: Lightweight. NOTE: I haven't included Nicola Adams (Flyweight Gold), Natasha Jonas (Lightweight) or Savannah Marshall (Middleweight) because sadly women don't have many opportunities at pro level in GB. If they remain amateur, hopefully they go on to win more medals though.
Today was one of those strange, surreal and unique days at Television Centre. Got into work to find out that various GB Olympians and Paralympians were being filmed doing something for Children In Need around the TVC fountain. So over the course of the day (and a few trips out from the shop) I saw rower Katherine Grainger, Zara Philips, boxers Nicola Adams, Anthony Joshua and Luke Campbell and some of the mens Gymnastic team. Then whilst I was watching wheelchair athlete David Weir being photographed with some of the Gamesmakers, legendary singer Dionne Warwick walked on by (see what I did there) with her little white dog. She was going to be on Later with Jools this evening. Plus I spotted Miranda Hart at one of the tables in the audience foyer and managed to get her to sign a dvd boxset of Miranda for me. Then after closing the shop I went across to the Later studio and saw the rest of Later being done. Not only Dionne Warwick singing ''Make it Easy On Yourself'' but also Alice Cooper doing ''School's O ...

wiaiwya - it's the taking part that counts: a gold for Luke Campbell and Anthony Joshua, and a Silve
Becoming so disillusioned with boxing, Anthony Joshua was completely outboxed in the the round of 16 by Savon from Cuba and should of lost by about 6 points, he redeems himself somehwat with deserving wins over Zhang and Dychko, but should of lost again to Cammarelle and now he's the Gold medallist. He's gonna take all the limelight and start out a professional career from a strong financial stand point, meanwhile a deserving Gold medallist in Luke Campbell will be completely ignored and forgotten. He didn't even deserve Silver at the World's because Cammarelle beat him even more clearly that time. What a load of nonsense !
Luke Campbell got gold yday, let's see if Freddie Evans and Anthony Joshua can make it 4 boxing golds 4 Britain! Really proud of both my nations GB and SA
