Cameron can't change free movement, take it from the Commission: Reports today that the EU Commission will block any attempt to change Free Movement of People as part of David Cameron's renegotiation plans are unsurprising according to UKIP Leader Nigel Farage. The Prime Minister has suggested he will ensure all EU migrants must have a job as a condition of entry into the UK, but sources in Brussels have disclosed that the Commission is likely to reject the proposals on the grounds that it goes against the fundamental principles of Free Movement of Labour. German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, who has already aired concerns over the UK carving out its own rules over EU migrants, is meeting the Prime Minister tomorrow to discuss his renegotiation strategy. The UKIP Leader anticipates smoke and mirrors from Downing Street to disguise the fact that this proposal will be rejected in Brussels. Nigel Farage said: "Germany is facing its own problems at the moment and would not want Britain to start turning away EU j ...

None so blind as those who refuse to see an EU mess Angela Merkel's visit and the Somerset Levels floods highlight how this country is in thrall to policies demanded by the European Union David Cameron welcomes Angela Merkel but got little joy over EU Reforms. Last week brought two more glaring examples of what – it is time we came to recognise – has become one of the most alarming features of British politics. This is our extraordinary inability to understand the realities of the strange, all-pervasive form of government that now rules so much of our lives, thanks to our membership of the European Union. One example was summed up in those headlines that greeted David Cameron’s meeting with the German Chancellor. “Merkel dampens Dave’s EU dream,” said one; “Merkel dashes hopes for overhaul of the EU,” ran another. Nothing should have been remotely surprising about this encounter. As I have often tried to explain here – ever since Mr Cameron came up with his notion, a year ago, that he co ...

The Shadow Foreign Secretary says the gap between what Tory backbenchers are demanding and what David Cameron can deliver is now wider than ever Reuters Leaders: Cam greets the German Chancellor at No 10 Today Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel was given the red carpet treatment, but at the end of the day all David Cameron was left with was a red face. She offered warm words about Britain, but her remarks will have been cold comfort to David Cameron and his eurosceptic backbenchers. Those remarks have confirmed that David Cameron’s approach to Europe simply isn’t working. We all know that Europe needs to change. The real tragedy is that the Prime Minister is now so weak in his own party he’s unable to achieve the necessary changes in a sensible way. And because we have a Prime Minister who has so clearly lost control of his party on the issue of Europe, that as a result he’s now losing influence with other European leaders. The Prime Minister had a lot riding on the German Chancellor rescuing h ...

Watching British Prime Minister David Cameron, groveling to German Chancellor, Angela Merkel is a clear demonstration of how much influence the British government has lost and how much sovereignty they have surrendered. This has come about by stealth over many years and events are reaching the tipping point. Cameron and the traitorous political class know that if any more sovereignty is surrendered Great Britain will cease to exist as an independent sovereign nation. The ultimate goal of reducing Great Britain to minor a province in a United States of Europe will have been achieved. Read on :

Privacy Virgins, the Republican Agenda, and HOPSCOTCH, 1980/2013 SLKW In the movie, Hopscotch, a CIA agent, tired of his bosses antics, flees and dares to publish an embarrassing memoir. It's interesting and witty; a classic "get even" movie, with an all star cast of Walter Matthau as Miles Kendig, Glenda Jackson as Isobel, Sam Waterston as Cutter, Ned Beatty as Myerson, Herbert Lom as Yaskov, David Matthau as Ross. Watching a rerun, we see that technology was still in it's infancy, almost non-existent; and the movie's mentality definitely reflected the culture of the Cold War. It shows an America (and a world) that no longer exists, although it does give a wink and a nod to female achievements, sorta, kinda, if you pay attention. But the interesting thing about this film is to review it in the light of relatively recent events like WikiLeaks, and the strange life of Julian Assange, the recent wire tapping accusations that Angela Merkel's cell phone was tapped by the US. Merkel is the German Chancellor. . ...
Reports say the US has been spying on Angela Merkel's mobile phone for more than a decade. German publication, Der Speigel, says that the US has been spying on German Chancellor phone since 2002. Another report says Mr Obama was told in 2010 about the surveillance. Meanwhile Washington has seen a protest against the NSA's spying programme. Several thousand protesters marched to the US Capitol to demand a limit to the surveillance. Some of them held banners in support of the fugitive former contractor Edward Snowden, who revealed the extent of the NSA's activities.

Though the German Chancellor told a political rally that free-trade talks are long overdue, she also said that the assistance of U.S. intelligence to thwart attacks on Germany in the past cannot justify American spying on the European Union. In the early hours of Friday morning, the Turkish government pulled back from the brink. After making apocalyptic noises about a "final" confrontation with protesters who had occupied an Istanbul park, the Prime Minister suddenly offered talks. With five dead and 5,000 injured, Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to suspend plans to turn part of Gezi park into a shopping mall until a court challenge is heard, defusing an alarming situation which had prompted condemnation of his government's tactics in the European Parliament. This is far from marking the end of Erdogan's problems, however. What began as a protest in defence of one of Istanbul's few green spaces became a focus for anger against a government which has become nakedly authoritarian. Journalists have been in the frontline, and, last year, more than a fifth of the world's imprisoned journalists were in Turkish jails. Returning to Our Value System. By Funke Aboyade. Two recent occurrences in the UK, as well as Europe got me thinking about our value system and cultural norms as a country and I believe should get all us all thinking as well. I’ll start with the most recent - the resignation last Friday of German Education Minister, Annette Schavan, in the wake of charges of plagiarism against her regarding her Ph.D thesis. The Heinrich Heine University, Dusseldorf had days earlier voted to strip her of her doctorate following their review upon questions raised by an anonymous blogger about it. Her doctorate was then declared invalid and withdrawn from her. She has in the meantime declared her intention to fight that decision. Her resignation was even more poignant because she had been particularly scathing when just over a year ago German Defence Minister, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, had had to resign following allegations that he also had plagiarised his thesis. German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, praised her for puttin ...

Euro - European Markets Eight months before the national elections in Germany, signs of worry simmered for the ruling government, as the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel's ruling alliance was defeated in a closely fought contest in Lower Saxony, one of the country's most populous states. Although polls clearly project Angela Merkel holding a strong lead in national polls, today's result does signal that the race until September 2013 is far from over. However, the reaction in currency markets was minimal, as the Euro held its ground against the greenback and Sterling today. Meanwhile, the Eurozone Finance Ministers are expected to meet later today ...

German Chancellor Declares Christians ‘Most Persecuted’ Issue Date: January/February 2013 “Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world.” To anyone moderately aware of world events, this passing comment by German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, is an obvious fact. However, it created a stir in her country and beyond by groups with anti-biblical agendas. Several “human rights” organizations from the German Green Party to Amnesty International, to the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religious Belief declared her statement to be either “totally senseless,” or “misguided.” They said her opinion was based on “occasionally rumored numbers.” The highly respected Christian international aid society, Open Doors, jumped into the fray, countering that 80% of the religiously persecuted individuals worldwide were Christian, totaling some 100 million people in all. Open Doors’ list of 50 most religiously repressive regimes fall primarily in two ...

Can anyone believe she will be taken seriously when she tries to negotiate a regional asylum seeker solution with our neighbours? Should This Worry Us ? Merkel Says : Multiculturalism has Failed in Germany In October 2010, German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, told a meeting of younger members of her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party at Potsdam that attempts to build a multicultural society in Germany had "utterly failed". She stated: "The concept that we are now living side by side and are happy about it does not work"; "we feel attached to the Christian concept of mankind, that is what defines us. Anyone who doesn't accept that is in the wrong place here." She continued to say that immigrants should integrate and adopt Germany's culture and values. This has added to a growing debate within Germany on the levels of immigration, its effect on Germany and the degree to which Muslim immigrants have integrated into German society.
Somebody had better tell Angela Merkel the story of Franz Ferdinand. The Archduke of Austria was assassinated on June 28th, 1914 - nearly 98 years ago to the day - in Sarajevo by a 19 year old Serbian named Gavrilo Princip. Europe, already a political tinderbox, fell headlong into the Great War. --Surely Merkel knows this history as well as anyone. But we couldn't help thinking of the anecdote when we read her comment this morning. She replied to a seven page document by European Council President Herman von Rompuy which, among other things, argued for a Eurozone Treasury that would issue common debt. This proposal is backed by France, Italy, and Spain. --Merkel's reply was, 'I don't see total debt liability as long as I live.' --Hmm. Only the German Chancellor now stands between a fiscally integrated Europe that's able to borrow against Germany's credit rating for 'ever closer union'. The simple solution for centrists and Statists is to get rid of the democratically elected German Chancellor the same way ...
Getting ready to return to Ghana. It's been a fruitful 10 day duty tour visiting Germany and UK with the highlight being the meeting of Nana Akufo-Addo the NPP Presidential Candidate and the German Chancellor. I always watched on TV how Angela Merkel conducted herself being the only woman spearheading Europe's economic recovery. I admired her from afar and it was a wonderful experience when I finally got to meet her in Berlin. The Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher did set the pace, and now in Argentina, Liberia and latest in Malawi women are proving that when given the opportunity, they can rise to the occasion. Long live all organisations and individuals that are helping to get women into political leadership across Africa.
Video courtesy One would assume the German Chancellor would have no trouble locating her own country, and its main cities, on a map.

On Tuesday 25th of May at 10:00am local time, Mr. Francois Hollande was sworn into office as the new French President. He delivered his ‘message of confidence’ during the inaugural ceremony which ended before mid-day. After some few rain-drenched inaugural events, Mr. Hollande was off to Germany by 3:00pm to discuss the Eurozone crises with Mrs. Angela Merkel (the German Chancellor). Mr. Hollande’s Germany bound trip was nearly halted by a thunder lightening that struck the Falcon 7X aircraft he was traveling with but he wouldn’t give up. He went back to an air base, we are told, and the aircraft was changed, and he continued his journey. That same afternoon the new President appointed his Prime Minister and other government appointments were announced the following day. And so they hit the ground running right from day one because they knew that there were a lot challenges facing France i.e. "huge debt, weak growth, reduced competitiveness, and a Europe that is struggling to emerge from a crisis" ...

David Cameron will today press the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to come to the rescue of Greece and other ailing European economies or risk the collapse of the single currency.
(HNS) FLAVOR GULCH, UT: In an apparent effort to turn a negative into a positive, the Romney campaign may be considering a new, targeted social media campaign. The campaign would assert the candidate's willingness to wrestle other world leaders to the ground and cut off their hair should they not agree to do what he wants. "That might work for German Chancellor, Angela Merkel," said an Obama campaign spokesman, adding, "What about Vladimir Putin? The guy's bald, and has a black belt in Judo to boot! We don't think so." HNS will continue to monitor this developing story.
