Premier League: West Ham confirm 25-man squad for remainder of season West Ham's January signings Marco Borriello, Antonio Nocerino, Roger Johnson and Pablo Armero have been included in their 25-man Premier League squad. The Hammers have confirmed the players who will be available to Sam Allardyce for the final four months of the campaign as the club battles against relegation. The likes of Ravel Morrison and Abdul Razak are available but do not need to be listed as Under-21 players can be selected on top of the original 25-man party. Allardyce's party has nine players who are not regarded as Home Grown, which is comfortably within the Premier League's parameters of 17. West Ham are currently 18th in the table after 24 games of the season, but are just one point from a position of safety and only three adrift of Stoke in 11th place. TEAM NEWS Fulham will hand late fitness tests to Dimitar Berbatov (groin) and Adel Taarabt (ankle). Scott Parker returns to the squad and is expected to be one of several changes from the side beaten at Hull. West Ham have major defensive problems once again but James Collins (groin) reportedly has a chance of playing. Winston Reid (ankle), James Tomkins (groin), Andy Carroll (heel) and Stewart Downing (calf) remain out, and Ravel Morrison (groin) is doubtful.
Update via Sky Sports : West Ham will be without any recognised central defenders for their Premier League clash with fellow strugglers Fulham on New Year's Day. James Tomkins was forced off early in the 3-3 draw with West Brom with a groin injury and joins fellow defenders James Collins (groin) and Winston Reid (ankle) on the sidelines, although midfielder Ravel Morrison could return. Andy Carroll is back in training following a long-term heel injury but is not in contention whilst Ricardo Vaz Te (shoulder), Stewart Downing (calf) and Mladen Petric (thigh) all miss out. I guess someone is telling porkies in the fact that Petric has left the club & they saying he misses out thru a thigh strain , also Ravel could return. Has the player & manager kiss and made up after their apparent spat last week ...
The manner in which we *** successful signings in the transfer window is atypical. Hype, elation, and belief fill the air, but along with the positive vibes come a sense of accountability. The demand to instantly perform has become mandatory, as supporters and the media are quick to tarnish your name if you fail to make an impact. Factors such as adapting to a new club, city or country, living arrangement and style of football are forgotten. Patience is no longer a virtue – it’s a rarity. Ask Jordan Henderson, a promising English talent whom was the media scapegoat when he moved to Liverpool in summer 2011. It was a transitional period for a club that was looking to head in a different direction, but their decisions in the transfer market provided inadequate assistance. 75 Jordan Henderson RATE THIS PLAYER! Unfortunately for Henderson, being signed around the same period as Andy Carroll, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing wasn’t beneficial – their combined transfer fee equaled £78m. Unlike the o .. ...
West Ham v Arsenal, 15:00 After relinquishing their spot atop the table for the first time in a few weeks Arsenal know that a win today over West Ham could well take them back to number one with Liverpool away at City. The home side are just struggling to score as much as anything, frustrating for a team that spent £15m on a striker in the summer, but they’re still a strong and solid team and for Arsenal to get the win they’ll need to show stomach as well as skill this afternoon. VictorChandler have 17/4 on Arsenal winning by a 2-goal margin and I’m confident the Gunners will get back on track here. Kevin Nolan returns for the visit of Arsenal after completing a three-match ban but Andy Carroll, Ricardo Vaz Te, Winston Reid and Stewart Downing are still all unavailable. Nemanja Vidic is also doubtful, while Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie are definitely out. West Ham skipper Kevin Nolan serves the last of his three-match ban. James Tomkins returns after a groin problem but Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing, Mladen Petric, Winston Reid and Ricardo Vaz Te are all injured. MATCH PREVIEW Are we all ready for the magic and madness of Christmas? It's the Premier League's busiest time, with four rounds of fixtures in a week and a half - time which will see us pass the season's halfway mark and usually gives the table a sense of true order for the race to the finish. With the greatest respect to their opponents, Manchester United won't be satisfied with anything other than a maximum 12 points from their four games. Here's the good news and bad news for WHFC fans. Big Sam says league position will improve when Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll come back.
Manchester United will hand a late fitness test to Wayne Rooney ahead of their home date with West Ham, after seeing him sit out Wednesday's 2-0 victory over Stoke City in the League Cup with a knock. David Moyes is hopeful the England international will figure prominently over the Christmas period, and he needs him to as fellow forward Robin van Persie is missing with a thigh problem. Michael Carrick will not be ready for a return until Boxing Day at the earliest, but club captain Nemanja Vidic is fit again and Marouane Fellaini could come back into contention after a back complaint. West Ham will welcome James Tomkins back into their ranks on Saturday, with the defender having recovered from a groin problem. He will be the only addition to a squad which edged out Spurs 2-1 in midweek, with Kevin Nolan set to serve the final game of a three-match ban. Record signing Andy Carroll will not be ready until the New Year as he eases his way back from a foot injury, while Stewart Downing (Achilles) and Winston ...

ANOTHER MANAGER has just called in with his weekend plans. West Ham v Sunderland (kick-off 3 p.m UK/4 p.m. Nigeria). West Ham manager Sam Allardyce will be without suspended captain Kevin Nolan for the Barclays Premier League visit of Sunderland, with the Hammers also missing several first-team players through injury. Nolan is banned after picking up a red card in the 4-1 defeat at Liverpool while Winston Reid (ankle), Stewart Downing (calf), Andy Carroll (heel), Ricardo Vaz Te (shoulder), Mladen Petric (thigh) and Alou Diarra (knee) are all sidelined. James Collins and Guy Demel are also struggling due to illness but Allardyce is hoping to have both available alongside James Tomkins and Ravel Morrison, who both return to the squad. West Ham have injury doubts over James Collins (illness), Guy Demel (illness), James Tomkins (hamstring), Winston Reid (ankle), Mladen Petric (calf) and Ricardo Vaz Te (shoulder), while Stewart Downing (calf) and Andy Carroll (ankle) remain out. Will this be the unveiling of a new, even more brazen, tactical nightmare? A 2-7-1 formation perhaps with McCartney and Joey Obrien managing half the defensive responsibilities each, with a soup-like midfield consisting of Noble, Diame, Collison, Morrison, Diarra, Jarvis and Joe Cole and then one of our lethal striking options just waiting for that pinpoint aerial pass. But seriously. what are our options?
Reds on England plane to Brazil will increase UNDER Gerard Houllier and then Rafael Benitez, English players showcasing their talent at Liverpool became rarer as the years went on. Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Danny Murphy as well as others have lined up in a Liverpool and England shirt in the new millennium. However, especially under Benitez, there were an increasing number of players brought in from overseas because of the talent to price ratio – players at the same level could be bought for less in countries such as Spain. That continued until recently, where first Kenny Dalglish and then Brendan Rodgers started to promote more home-grown players into the team. Dalglish has been found guilty of overspending on the likes of Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing, but he wanted to give Liverpool that national dominance, trying to buy the hottest young English talent as they had in the past. However, the method didn’t really work. Rodgers hasn’t signed ...

The future of Stewart Downing again looks uncertain after both the BBC and Daily Mail connected him with a summer departure away from Liverpool. Downing was hotly tipped to leave during the January transfer window after new boss Brendan Rodgers had made him available for transfer. Undeterred, the 28-year-old battled his way back into the manager's plans and became a regular starter during the second half of the campaign. A return of three goals and five assists in 39 Premier League appearances constituted a significant improvement on the complete blank he had drawn during the previous 12 months. Despite the reprieve and upturn in fortunes, the general consensus remains that Downing has been a major disappointment at Anfield following a big money move from Aston Villa two years ago. The England international, who costs the Reds a cool £20million, is rumoured to be interesting West Ham United as they look to provide their new signing, and Downing's Former Liverpool team mate, Andy Carroll with service from ...

Stewart Downing looks to be next out as West Ham chase his signature. West Ham signed Andy Carroll for £15 million last month and Liverpool are looking for around £8 million for Downing. Despite not making a blistering impact - he has had some good times at Liverpool and should he leave, I wish him all the best! Chris
His agent meant it was difficult playing in the same team as Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll.
BY A CONCERNED LIVERPOOL FAN If only Rodgers had Dalglish's money to spend on Liverpool… During Kenny Dalglish’s second spell as manager of Liverpool, he managed to spend £130.3 million. Whilst many have criticized the way the Reds legend spent the club’s resources, it must also be acknowledged he brought in a number of players who can be considered successes at the club. The likes of Luis Suarez, for example, along with Jose Enrique, Suso, Brad Jones, and Jonjo Shelvey were acquisitions that can not be considered entirely wasteful, by their varying degrees of success. However, his acquisitions of Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam, Sebastian Coates and Jordan Henderson for the most part for excessive transfer fees have left the club and the new manager Brendan Rodgers in the lurch. Those players combined cost £85.5 million – Adam and Carroll together will make a loss for the club of £22.9 million (providing Carroll signs for West Ham this summer at £15.5 million which represents a lo ...
Via Caught Offside: Having brought in Kolo Toure on a free transfer and completed the signing of Spanish striker Iago Aspas and with a number of other players said to be on their way to Anfield Brendan Rodgers is looking to balance the Liverpool books by cashing in on a quartet of first team stars. The Daily Telegraph claim that the Northern Irishman is ready to listen to offers for young midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who is said to be of interest to Norwich City. Rodgers is also hopeful that he can orchestrate a permanent sale of England forward Andy Carroll, with a £15m deal with West Ham tentatively agreed and Carroll will agree to the deal soon. Stewart Downing is another who Rodgers will hope to offload this summer though one wonders just how much Liverpool hope to garner from the sale of a player who cost the club a fee of around £20m and may struggle to fetch half that fee this summer. Slovakian centre-back Martin Skrtel seems certain to leave having been frozen out of first team affairs for the seco ...
Brendan Rodgers could oversee several big money departures this summer. The Telegraph says Jonjo Shelvey, the subject of interest from Norwich City, could leave for an offer in excess of £5 million, while despite a return to favour at the end of last season, Liverpool would also entertain bids for Stewart Downing. Liverpool are eager for Andy Carroll to confirm a £15 million move to West Ham as soon as possible. Martin Skrtel has long been anticipated to leave in this transfer window, a reunion with former manager Rafael Benítez at Napoli mooted. Bally
Someone asked me fairly recently and asked me why I would prefer Christian Eriksen to come rather than Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Personally, I don't mimd if either one comes. I am quite a big fan of Eriksen, and I have seen him grow and mature into one of Ajax's finest players. To see players like Eriksen, Gerrard, Coutinho, Sturridge and maybe Suarez in the same shirt would be something I would love. Not to say I wouldn't like Mkhitaryan, because I think he would bring goals to the club, but I just like the way that Eriksen plays. I think either would be great for the squad, and would be sensational if we managed to get both, even though it is highly unlikely to happen, considering other transfer targets. However, I think if Martin Skrtel left for £12m (because alot of clubs want him), Andy Carroll for £15m and Stewart Downing for around £8m, it would raise £35m. With the remaining £18m left after the Aspas purchase, we would have £53m. Sign Papadopoulos for £12m. Mkhitaryan for £22m and Eriksen for £ ...
My hopes for the summer window Andy Carroll out Henrikh Mkhitaryan in. Jonjo Shelvey out Luis Alberto in. Martin Skrtel out Kyriakos Papadopoulos in. Sebastian Coates out Tiago Ilori in. Stewart Downing out Nacer Chadli in.
Kopites, I've always wondered what your thoughts are on which country you think is best for buying players from? What nationality would you say has the best type of players you think would make a difference for Liverpool? For me I would say Germany because they have brilliant players who are already developed and also fantastic youth. So far, these are the players we have got and their nationality; England (15) - Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson, Glen Johnson, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, Martin Kelly, Raheem Stering, Jonjo Shelvey, John Flanagan, Jack Robinson, Andre Wisdom, Conor Coady, Jay Spearing, Adam Morgan Spain (4) - Pepe Reina, Jose Enrique, Suso, Dani Pacheco Brazil (2) - Phillipe Coutinho, Lucas Leiva Uruguay (2) - Luis Suarez, Sebastian Coates Germany (1) - Samed Yesil Italy (1) - Fabio Borini Denmark (1) - Daniel Agger Slovakia (1) - Martin Skrtel Wales (1) - Joe Allen Australia (1) - Brad Jones Morocco (1) - Oussama Assaidi What are your thoughts kopites? Liverpool What had looked like a season of quiet rebuilding has turned into a storm with the news that Luis Suarez wants to leave. The club want to retain him, but they have already named their price. Away from that, a new set of central defenders is being chased and there are questions over Pepe Reina's goalkeeping future. Leaving? Jamie Carragher (confirmed), Jay Spearing, Martin Skrtel, Sebastian Coates, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, Pepe Reina, Luis Suarez Incoming? Kolo Toure (confirmed), Iago Aspas, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Lucas Digne, Christian Eriksen, Hatem Ben Arfa, Ashley Williams, Simon Mignolet, Christian Benteke, Alex McCarthy, Asmir Begovic
Gerrard: Henderson "Only Going to Become Better and Better" From makeweight in a failed transfer deal last August to a regular in the starting eleven by season's end, Jordan Henderson's had an impressive campaign, one upon which his captain thinks he can continue to build. It's easy to forget the amount of overhaul Liverpool experienced last summer; Kenny Dalglish was gone, Brendan Rodgers was on his way in, and four of the five signings from the past year seemed set for exits. Craig Bellamy's heart (and family) were in Wales, Charlie Adam clearly didn't fit in Rodgers' plans, Andy Carroll would suffer a similar fate, and both Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson were set to depart. The latter came closest, shopped relentlessly in the final days of the transfer window, most notably as a makeweight in the failed approach to Fulham for Clint Dempsey. And now, less than ten months later, his Liverpool future appears far more secure, solidified by a string of performances that saw him become Liverpool's most ...
I figured now I'd give an idea of the players I think that will be leaving us this summer and their fees. Luis Suarez £45m Andy Carroll £15m Martin Skrtel £12m Jonjo Shelvey £6m Sebastian Coates £5m Jay Spearing £3m Ousamma Assiadi £3m I'd say they are certainly out with Glen Johnson, Pepe Reina, and Stewart Downing possibly on the way out. Add the £89m above to our £25m transfer kitty and we are in for one *** of a transfer window reds.
and buy an Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing.looks for razor blades!!!
Stewart Downing finally has people on his side, with Liverpool fans now starting to praise his recent performances and his attitude. However, it is my firm opinion that Liverpool now need to get nasty if it has real aspirations to grow as a club and sell Downing this summer. Downing was signed in the summer of 2011 by Kenny Dalglish for £20m on the back of a good season with Aston Villa where he scored seven goals and made nine assists in the Premier League. Dalglish saw his new signing as a wing wizard who would deliver crosses for his £35m striker, Andy Carroll. Many fans recognised that he was a proven Premier League player who had a very good season with Aston Villa, however, the majority felt the club had again overspent on a player who was not guaranteed to deliver in the famous red shirt. Downing became Liverpool’s fourth most expensive signing, yet was he really in the same class as Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez? The 2011/12 season saw the fans’ initial worries materialise with Downing hav ...
Liverpool Focus - Rodgers looking more to experience at Anfield "The biggest thing we need this summer is to bring in some men, some character that allows and supports the other men to see the games out," said Brendan Rodgers a couple of weeks ago, in what some would suggest was a thinly-veiled criticism of Liverpool’s controversial unwritten transfer rule, which places a high significance on recruiting players aged 24 or under. Since the takeover by Fenway Sports Group, the Reds have spent lavishly on new purchases, including big-money moves for the likes of Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing. It is perhaps the reported £20m Liverpool paid for the latter, who endured a miserable debut season at Anfield, which sparked a major rethink on transfer policy. That Rodgers has signed only young players following his own arrival on Merseyside is no coincidence. It is not that Rodgers is against the idea of giving youngsters a chance - quite the opposite. Not only has the former Swansea boss been delighted with t ...
1. Liverpool There's no sugar coating the fact that Liverpool have fallen from grace over the past few years. That's the reason why they're the butt of so many jokes. Liverpool's squad isn't as good as it was a few years ago, but it isn't terrible. I'd definitely rather have their squad over most other EPL team's. But despite this fall from grace, Liverpool are still talked about as one of the greatest clubs in England, which must show that they still have a talented squad. Admittedly, they still have one or two turkeys like Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing, who even you Liverpool fans can't deny you overspent on, but Suarez is a contender for player of the year, Gerrard still plays well week in week out, and Agger and Skrtel are solid defenders. What Liverpool need is someone like Xabi Alonso. That was the turning point for their fall from grace. But if you could get someone like him again, the maybe we'll be talking about Liverpool as title-winners, not turkeys. 2. Rangers ...
It has been revealed that Liverpool are planning a summer clear-out to make room for some new recruits at the club. Goalkeeper Pepe Reina, defenders Martin Skrtel and Jose Enrique, and midfielders Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing are all in danger of the axe. All five started Liverpool’s 2-0 Europa League defeat at Zenit St Petersburg, which underlined the fact more changes need to be made. Liverpool will also let Sebastian Coates leave and look for a buyer for Andy Carroll, who has been on loan at West Ham. Rodgers will hope the sales will help him fend off bids for Luis Suarez – and sign more players of his own. It would be a surprise if he let all seven men go this summer as a few of them are first team regulars, but as he looks to revamp the squad and get back to the very top. He must get rid of a few players that are not playing at their best. CS
Recent quotes from Arsene Wenger suggest that in the summer he faced a decision over whether to sign one of two strikers – Demba Ba, who has just sealed a move from Newcastle to Chelsea, or Olivier Giroud, whom Wenger did sign for Arsenal. It’s always possible that perhaps he has been taken slightly out of context, but when asked about Ba moving to Stamford Bridge, his quote on the official site reads: “I like Demba Ba personally, he is a similar type to Giroud who we just bought. It was one or the other one.” Some interesting points to share : 1. Wenger usually opts for lesser-known players from the French league – or indeed any league other than this one, where he has signed very few players – because they are cheaper, and in the past this has brought great success, especially when you compare it with some of the crazily inflated fees paid by Liverpool for flops like Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson just because they were being signed from rivals. The strange thing here, ** ...
Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Paul Konchesky, Alberto Aquilani, the list goes on..
Well, there hasn't been a mistake this embarrassing since Liverpool paid £75m for Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll and Jordan Henderson.
King Kenny and Damien Comolli were offered the chance to sign Mario Gotze but insisted Jordan Hendersen was the priority. I think I just died inside a little. Mario Gomez said he was set to join us until Kenny decided to sign Andy Carroll in Jan 2011. And we all know Juan Mata has said many times he was close to signing for us but we opted for Stewart Downing instead. What a squad we would've had. Would've added lots of goals that's for sure.
Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll. And you're still trying to tell me that Dalglish is a 'King'
Andy Carroll - £35m Stewart Downing - £20m Jordan Henderson £19m Great to see Scousers get robbed for a change.
Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson were bought under the moneyball philosophy That didn't work too well
You know EA is giving you the *** when you get Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing in packs
Santi Cazorla was £20 million pounds cheaper than Andy Carroll. He was also the same price as Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson. Just saying.

John Henry will not overpay for players. Forgetting Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, John Lackey, Josh Beckett...
"Steven Gerrard is Mr Liverpool and he has won the Champions League, FA Cup, Super Cup and League Cup with them. The question is whether he will ever win a Premier League title. As things look now, absolutely not. "A lot of things have to change at Liverpool for that to happen. The owners have to pump in more money and buy the right players. Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing have been expensive signings but have not been a success. "When I look at their team I see just three world-class players - Gerrard, Pepe Reina and Luis Suarez." Im sure a lot of Liverpool Football Club fans will be very angry by the comments of former England and Man City coach Sven-Goran Eriksson but it is the truth whats your opinion on this?
Liverpool signing sahin! Yes! Now all they need to do is sell Charlie Adam, Jonjo Shelvey, Jay Spearing, Stewart Downing and Jordan foking Henderson - Get at least a fiver for each of them and invest the money in getting Andy Carroll a decent hair cut. Then and only then can they win the league! Mon da pool!
I forgot Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson have been the best signings of the past couple years now..
Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson, Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing cost £90M. I would have to think twice if offered all 4 for £10M
You're thinking of Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Joe Allen and Andy Carroll combined, lad.
If Liverpool buy Joe Allen for £20m It will be the most embarrassing thing since Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing
Stewart Downing is really gonna miss Andy Carroll
Sunderland have launched a 25m double bid for Liverpool pair Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing, but the most sensational news to come out of this story is that Carroll has agreed to it, both players will sign next week
Santi Cazorla or Podolski for £16m vs Stewart Downing or Andy Carroll for £20m/£35m. I can see why Arsene Wenger doesnt buy English players.
Welcome to the states: Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll. Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
"Dimitar Berbatov and Anderson (£55.6m) -Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing (£55m) to the ignorant fans that slag off
Here's a fun football fact or insult. Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing won more silverware last season than RVP, Rooney and Modric.
aye I had the same with Andy Carroll & Stewart Downing but if they're not gonna play it makes sense to get a % off the wage bill.
Roy Hodgson should play Andy Carroll in place of Welbeck, Theo Walcott in place of Chamberlain & Stewart Downing in place of Ashley Young..
Sky Sports sources understand Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been included in the England side to face France in their Euro 2012 opener. Liverpool's Stewart Downing had widely been expected to take the role on the left of midfield, but instead Roy Hodgson has gone with the Arsenal man. It will be Oxlade-Chamberlain's second start for his country, but his first ever appearance in a competitive match. The other issues also resolved see Manchester City's James Milner on the right of midfield ahead of Theo Walcott, and up-front Danny Welbeck is preferred to Andy Carroll. The back five is as expected with Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Ashley Cole, John Terry and Joleon Lescott. The centre midfield is Scott Parker alongside captain Steven Gerrard.
Stewart Downing is the best example of this - alongside Andy Carroll and Adam Johnson. Suarez - not a rip off. Neither was Cisse.
Danny Welbeck will be selected up front for England over Andy Carroll for the Euro 2012 opener against France, the back pages claim. RELATED LINKS Early Doors: Russia get party started Dzagoev inspires Russia win Two see red as Greece hold Poland Bet on Football - Get £25 Free The shape of Roy Hodgson’s team for Monday’s Group D clash is becoming clearer, with Stewart Downing and James Milner set to get the nod on the left and right wing respectively. England’s open training session in Krakow was a curious affair, with just 13 players taking part in a full session. None of Steven Gerrard, Theo Walcott, Scot Parker, Joleon Lescott, John Terry, Glen Johnson, Milner, Joe Hart and Ashley Cole completed the session. Almost every journalist reported from the session that Welbeck has got the nod for his country. The 21-year-old made Hodgson take note with a goal against Belgium in England’s last game, and it is believed that he has now dislodged Carroll as first-choice striker.
Andy Carroll to be top Euro 2012 goal scorer, Stewart Downing to get the most assists. ROFL
just been listening to the Three Lions and now all the doubt has gone. England really can win the Euros!! Jordan Henderson and Martin Kelly really are international quality, Andy Carroll and Danny Welbeck are goal machines, Stewart Downing is a creative genius on the left hand side and John Terry and Ashley Cole are all round good guys!! I believe!!
Stephen Gerrard ( Captain ) ,Glen Johnson , Stewart Downing , Andy Carroll. Now Add Jordan Henderson and Martin Kelly ,, Poor Jay Spearing must be wondering what he did to *** Woy off :) LOL
are dominating the England squad get in Steven Gerrard,Martin Kelly,Jordan Henderson,Andy Carroll, Glenn Johnson and Stewart Downing
absolutely fails to understand why five, yes FIVE players from a team that had their worst season in 12 years, i.e Liverpool, were incluided in the England squad for the Euros. Those names include Stewart Downing ('creative' midfielder with no goals/assists in the PL season) Jordan Henderson (came for $18 million, not forth $5 million anymore) Andy Carroll (the most expensive yet ineffective English player ever) Marin Kelly (8 league starts all season) QUEEN SAVE THE LIONS. :/
So there's Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly, Stewart Downing, Stevie G, Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll. Seems like the Liverpool squad to me!!!
It's quite embarrassing that Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing only cost £2m less than Eden Hazard, Hulk and Marko Marin.
I reckon half of the soccer aid team should be getting selected ahead of Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll
Martin Kelly adding to Steven Gerrard, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and with Glen Johnson to come in
Really doesn't want to hear about: Andy Carroll's aerial threat, or his "excellent touch for a big man!", Stewart Downing's "wonderful left foot!", James Milner's "work rate!", Scott Parker's "importance in the middle of the park!" or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's "incredible potential!". Strong from you Ashley Young!
Why does Stewart Downing have 0 assists? Because he only passes to Andy Carroll. (
Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing in the England squad after a horrible horrible season by both and Gary Hooper doesnt even get a look in, Alan Thompson all over again! AND Anthony Stoke's isnt in the Ireland squad wat a joke!
Glen Johnson, Steven Gerrard, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll will go with the England team to the Euro 2012
I actually laughed at the England squad. Glen Johnson? Andy Carroll? Stewart Downing. No chance of us winning. GO SPAIN
Personally,I'm not too pleased with what Roy Hodgson put on the table.Don't get me wrong;I got no qualms with the Old Boys or New Kids on the Block like Ashley Young,Scott Parker,Leighton Baines or Joe Hart, but I see no reason why he brings in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain,Andy Carroll,Phil Jones or Stewart Downing, while potentials like Adam Johnson are put on the waiting list and quality players like Rio Ferdinand,Micah Richards,Michael Carrick and Peter Crouch don't get a look-in.But then he's the boss.Just have to respect his decision.
Roy Hodgson is a joke!! Aptly put, Roy Hodgson has already failed... Stewart Downing?? calamity Robbert Green?? Andy Carroll??? Joleon Lescott??? What is he thinking??? and what again, Jordan Henderson??? My goodness!!! and Micah Richards missing out?? Oops... This is a very poor selecction by Roy Hodgson. Expect nothing other than an England failure. Folks, Sports is Legendary!
"After news spread that there may be a possible England line-up including Glen Johnson, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Stevie G and Andy Carroll, UEFA officials have been dispatched in earnest to Polkraine to test the durability of the woodwork." -Anthony, Kilburn
Andy Carroll, who has scored just six times in 46 appearances, arrived for £35m, before midfield trio Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing, the latter contributing not a single goal or assist from out wide during the entire season, were brought in for a collective fee of around £45m.
Arsenal teenager Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the shock inclusion in England’s Euro 2012 squad. The 18-year-old midfielder has won his first call-up to the senior squad despite starting only six Premier League and three Champion League matches in his first top flight campaign. John Terry is also included at the expense of Rio Ferdinand in the 23-man squad selected by Roy Hodgson and announced by the Football Association at 1pm on Wednesday. Other notable selections include Norwich City’s John Ruddy as one of the two reserve goalkeepers, Stewart Downing in midfield and Jermain Defoe and Andy Carroll up front, despite seasons in which the two strikers regularly failed to make the starting XI at their respective clubs. Theo Walcott and Scott Parker have also been selected despite carrying injuries going into the tournament. Daniel Sturridge, Aaron Lennon, Michael Carrick, Peter Crouch, Bobby Zamora, Micah Richards, Phil Jagielka and Grant Holt are among the other players who failed to make the final cut, w ...
thinks its a nice touch that they're allowing Stewart Downing to make Andy Carroll look good at international level too. And they might let Jordan Henderson along to make Downing look good as well. However they haven't found anyone who can make Henderson look good, so we'll assume it ends there...
Actually can't believe Micah Richards isn't in the England Euro Squad and Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll are
Kenny Dalglish sacked? Yeh because a new manager is what you need to become Premier League champions isn't it Liverpool? Especially when you have quality players like Stewart Downing & Andy Carroll! :-S
Roy Hodgson taking Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll to Poland and Ukraine... Is like me taking my umbrella and raincoat to Ethiopia.
The KING is Dead (The most obnoxious, ignorant, racist loving, money wasting man) that is Kenny Dalglish!!! And it looks like Woy Hodgeson is going the same way with picking Andy Carroll (£35m and 4 goals), Jordan Henderson (1 goal), Glen Johnson (couldn't tackle a good dinner), Steven Gerrard (sick note can't last a season), Stewart Downing (couldn't cross the road and couldn't score in the Grafton on a Thursday night). You dance with the Yanks and you pay the price!!!
ByeBye King Kenny.. Andy Carroll, Jay Spearing, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Jonjo Shelvey and Stewart Downing will all miss you!
So we took Stewart Downing ahead of Adam Johnson and we took Andy Carroll ahead of Daniel Sturridge. Chamberlin won't even get played, Like Walcott in 2006. And Micah Richards isn't even on standby. Out in the group stages it is then!
Spain have the likes of David Silva & Juan Mata as squad players. We have Stewart Downing & Andy Carroll as ours.
Terrible squad selection by Roy Hodgson. All the enthusiasm I had about his appointment have just evaporated in a matter of seconds. Rob Green / Glen Johnson / John Terry / Stewart Downing / James Milner and Andy Carroll - None of those should have come anywhere near selection. Michael Carrick, Micah Richards and Peter Crocuh must be wondering how they managed to be overlooked.
How on earth are Stewart Downing & Jordan Henderson ahead of Aaron Lennon? But pleased with everyone else & that the mighty Andy Carroll will be there banging in the goals!
Just seen the England squad for the Euros. Why are they taken Stewart Downing?? Surely Aaron Lennon has had a better season or Adam Johnson!! Would've took Jagielka over Terry or Cahill. Andy Carroll?? I'd take Sharp or Lambert ahead of him!! And don't get me started on Milner and Barry...they're murder!!
...Why Glen Johnson? Why Stewart Downing? Why Andy Carroll? What about Micah Richards or Kyle Walker - the two best Right backs in the epl? Hogdson is already making bad decisions!!!
ok Just a few questions, Stewart Downing *** Theo Walcott (and im an arsenal fan) *** Frank Lampard *** Andy Carroll *** Jermaine Defoe *** These players have been given their chance to play and have not performed and werent particularly amazing at club level either for that matter. Adam Johnson, Phil Jageilka, Micah Richards, Tom Cleverley, Peter Crouch, Daniel Sturridge, if you're going to have decent subs with a bit of balls to their game or a bit of skill, hows about them?
Steven Gerard, Andy Carroll, Glen Johnson and Stewart Downing got the nod from Roy Hodgson but not Aaron Lennon, Kyle Walker and Rio Ferdinand whom had a great season for their clubs. Hodgson opt out for Chelsea skipper to marshall his back line than Man United veteran. Now we know who is in the squad so, the big question is, Who will be the captain? (Clearly not John Terry) i personally believe Steven Gerard has more exprience in big stage when it comes to leadership than his counter parts F. Lampard and S. parker.
what a load of crap why take Andy Carroll and not Peter Crouch plus why take Stewart Downing not happy total rubbish
Hodgson. The same midfielders as the last 2/3 tournaments. Grow some balls and mix it up! And where the *** is Grant Holt! Second highest English goalscorer, and what has Andy Carroll done this season... I'll tell you what, jack all! Well done chamberlain, gonna have a very bright future! And the most shocking of all... Stewart Downing! Doesn't even deserve a place in my Football Manager team, and I'm in league 2!! any way boys, good luck! Your gonna need it!
Andy Carroll & Stewart Downing, oh my days. Picked becuase they simply play for Liverpool. Woy Hodgson you've bottled it!
I saw Stewart Downing's name in the England Euro 2012 squad and i almost fell off my chair. The dude's been arrested more times than goals and assists this year and no Aaron Lennon. SMH. They include Andy Carroll as well and yet no Peter Crouch. Well at least Chamberlain is in so good luck to England.
Kenny Dalglish spent £108million on just six players, including Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson in 2011.
SICK!!! Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll have taken a total of 210 shots in the Premier League this season and scored only 15 goals. Similarly, Stewart Downing has had 72 shots without scoring. They have become the first team since the 98/99 season to miss five penalties in a campaign, and have scored only one more goal in the league this season (47) than times they have hit the woodwork.
Just three days after their FA Cup final defeat to the Blues, Kenny Dalglish’s side responded with a stunning early showing as a Michael Essien own-goal was followed by clinical finishes from Jordan Henderson and Daniel Agger. Chelsea captain John Terry endured a nightmare evening with a spate of mistakes, while fellow defender Branislav Ivanovic could have been sent off for an elbow on Andy Carroll, with Stewart Downing missing the resulting penalty. Ramires grabbed a goal back for the visitors just after half-time, but a horrendous attempted clearance from goalkeeper Ross Turnbull left Jonjo Shelvey to net a fourth and cap a fine win for the Reds as Chelsea saw their hopes of grabbing fourth spot extinguished. Former Kop idol Fernando Torres returned to Anfield for the first time since his £50 million departure in January last year as one of eight changes for Chelsea with this month's Champions League final against Bayern Munich Roberto Di Matteo’s primary focus. Liverpool, meanwhile, made four cha ...
Glen Johnson reckons John Terry is 'petrified' of Andy Carroll: Wonder if the same goes for Stewart Downing...
I've just seen a few replays of the incident that led to that Stewart Downing penalty and, no, I don't know why Andy Carroll went down clutching his face after he had been elbowed in the chest. It was definitely a spot-kick though. 2102: A few of you are asking about the logo on Liverpool's shirt tonight - it's an initiative called Seeing is Believing, which aims to help tackle avoidable blindness. A few Reds legends have been on the pitch to show their support of the initiative at half-time and have been taking penalties whilst blindfolded... John Barnes scored, but Robbie Fowler completely mis-cued, probably to Stewart Downing's relief.
LFC Flop of the Season: Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Jose Enrique, Pepe Reina,..Hard to choose one really.
I'll support England if Glen Johnson, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, and Andy Carroll are taken to Euro 2012.
Chelsea PETR CECH: Was not tested until the last 20 minutes. Made one good low save from Suarez and a brilliant stop to deny Andy Carroll's header and could do nothing about the goal he did concede. 7 JOSE BOSINGWA: Would have expected a tougher time from Stewart Downing but was given too comfortable time. Positional play questionable and caught in possession for Liverpool's goal. 4 Branislav Ivanovic: Was not really exercised until Andy Carroll was sent on and then lost many of the aerial battles with the striker. 6 John Terry: Found it easy to deal with an isolated Luis Suarez but when the pressure did come was nearly always in the right place at the right time and produced goal-saving tackle to deny Carroll in injury time. 6 Ashley Cole: Did not get forward as much as he would usually up against the pace of Bellamy but rarely beaten. 7 RAMIRES: Strong run and finish for his goal, helped by Jose Reina's mistake. Faded as the game went on but had done all his best work in the first half and was replaced ...
I'd try my luck with Chelsea. I'm betting on Didier Drogba (I hope Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge score some goals! Fernando Torres? A miracle perhaps? When pigs fly! I want to see some goals from Frank Lampard and John Terry. But I believe Luis Suarez will score! Andy Carroll? Hmm... A bit doubtful. Perhaps Charlie Adam, Craig Bellamy or Stewart Downing could? I'd like to see either Dirk Kuyt or Steven Gerrard score a goal or two.
All season I've been taking the *** out of Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing. One of them will score against us tomorrow!
Liverpool report losses of £50M. What, has somebody misplaced Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing? Ugh.
Nikica Jelavic has now scored as many goals as Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing combined.
Our entire first XI and bench yesterday cost less than Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing
There can only be three candidates for PFA Player of the Year: 1. Andy Carroll 2. Jordan Henderson 3. Stewart Downing With a combined price of only £75 million they have to be the bargains of the seasons as well!! YNWA!!
But to be fair to Comolli, he spotted the talent of Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll & Jordan Hendo'. And made sure to pay loads.
Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Andy Carroll, overated and they're more common than a Pork Pie !
in the football financial market, Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Chalie Adam are equal to one Cristiano Ronaldo...
Spending £35m on Andy Carroll, £20m on Stewart Downing and £20m on Jordan Henderson just doesn't seem out of place today.
...Todays the only day of the year where spending in excess of £50 million on Stewart Downing & Andy Carroll seems justified...
Jordan Henderson, Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam must get more goals for Liverpool - via
Never mind petrol, Andy Carroll and stewart downing are prime examples of what happens when u panic buy !!!
£10m defender Thomas Vermaelen has the same number of goals (5) as Andy Carroll, Fernando Torres and Stewart Downing combined.
What a waste of money , £500,000 for Darron Gibson , ... Just think for just £50m more we could have got Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing
hopefully Andy Carroll would back on his form. So does Stewart Downing. Bellamy has done great but he's injured :-/
Stewart downing wouldn't have crosses it and Andy Carroll wouldn't have finished it. Importance of GOOD wingers and strikers.
SUCH has been the march from the North East to Merseyside this year, it wouldn’t be a surprise for Ant and Dec or Vic and Bob to roll up at Anfield tomorrow afternoon. Following the trail blazed by Andy Carroll in January, both Stewart Downing – via a two-year stay in the Midlands – and Jordan Henderson have found themselves having travelled coast to coast in search of success.“I think the North East connection will help the team,” says Henderson. “I’ve known Andy Carroll since I was a kid, we used to play against each other for the local junior teams, and I know Stewart well too.”Carroll and Downing come with the credentials of regular England involvement and a reputation as being among the leading proponents in their field in the Premier League. But it is the arrival of Henderson that has caused more eyebrows to be raised among those monitoring Liverpool’s renaissance under Kenny Dalglish. At close to £20million, it’s a significant outlay for someone who 12 months ago was preparing f ...
