Blood Red: 2013 was start of Reds revolution Posted on January 4, 2014 by Liverpool Echo 2013 will go down as the year when Brendan Rodgers’ Anfield revolution gathered pace. No other club matched Liverpool’s tally of 84 Premier League goals and 37 league matches yielded 69 points. In stark contrast the Reds netted just 54 goals and picked up only 46 points from 39 league games in 2012. The momentum generated by an impressive end to last season was carried over into the first half of the 2013/14 campaign as Liverpool proved they are genuine contenders for a Champions League spot. It was also the year when Rodgers won over the doubters and showed he has all the credentials to be a long-term success for the Reds. His attacking brand of football lit up Anfield and he dealt admirably with some testing situations. The way he handled the Luis Suarez saga showcased his man-management skills and the manner in which he ruthlessly dispensed with the likes of Andy Carroll and Pepe Reina showed he’s not one to ...

Kopites, I've always wondered what your thoughts are on which country you think is best for buying players from? What nationality would you say has the best type of players you think would make a difference for Liverpool? Sterling tips Reds for Champions League Raheem Sterling has backed a revamped Liverpool to secure Champions League qualification next season. Anfield manager Brendan Rodgers is attempting to bolster his squad by completing deals for Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas and Sporting Lisbon centre-back Tiago Ilori. Rodgers, who has already signed central defender Kolo Toure on a free transfer from Manchester City, is also considering moves for Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Schalke's Greece international defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. So far, departures from Anfield have seen central defender Jamie Carragher retire, while striker Andy Carroll is trying to agree personal terms for a move to West Ham. There is uncertainty over the future of Luis Suarez following his public announcement that he wants to leave, while goalkeeper Pepe Reina has been linked with Barcelona as a long-term replacement for Victor Valdes. Sterling, though, feels Liverpool are on the r ...

Leaving? Jamie Carragher (confirmed), Jay Spearing, Martin Skrtel, Sebastian Coates, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, Pepe Reina, Luis Suarez Incoming? Kolo Toure (confirmed), Iago Aspas, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Lucas Digne, Christian Eriksen, Hatem Ben Arfa, Ashley Williams, Simon Mignolet, Christian Benteke, Alex McCarthy, Asmir Begovic
I figured now I'd give an idea of the players I think that will be leaving us this summer and their fees. Luis Suarez £45m Andy Carroll £15m Martin Skrtel £12m Jonjo Shelvey £6m Sebastian Coates £5m Jay Spearing £3m Ousamma Assiadi £3m I'd say they are certainly out with Glen Johnson, Pepe Reina, and Stewart Downing possibly on the way out. Add the £89m above to our £25m transfer kitty and we are in for one *** of a transfer window reds.

Thinking about when we played Newcastle away last season. Andy Carroll's dive, Pepe Reina's 'head-butt' and James Perch's handball.
It has been revealed that Liverpool are planning a summer clear-out to make room for some new recruits at the club. Goalkeeper Pepe Reina, defenders Martin Skrtel and Jose Enrique, and midfielders Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing are all in danger of the axe. All five started Liverpool’s 2-0 Europa League defeat at Zenit St Petersburg, which underlined the fact more changes need to be made. Liverpool will also let Sebastian Coates leave and look for a buyer for Andy Carroll, who has been on loan at West Ham. Rodgers will hope the sales will help him fend off bids for Luis Suarez – and sign more players of his own. It would be a surprise if he let all seven men go this summer as a few of them are first team regulars, but as he looks to revamp the squad and get back to the very top. He must get rid of a few players that are not playing at their best. CS
5 games 2 points and they are blaming the match officials Did they appoint Brendan Rogers? did they get rid of Andy Carroll?is it them that keep picking Pepe Reina? Have they all colluded to make sure you have had their worst start in 111 years? Do fancy them to win the League next season, The Championship
"Steven Gerrard is Mr Liverpool and he has won the Champions League, FA Cup, Super Cup and League Cup with them. The question is whether he will ever win a Premier League title. As things look now, absolutely not. "A lot of things have to change at Liverpool for that to happen. The owners have to pump in more money and buy the right players. Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing have been expensive signings but have not been a success. "When I look at their team I see just three world-class players - Gerrard, Pepe Reina and Luis Suarez." Im sure a lot of Liverpool Football Club fans will be very angry by the comments of former England and Man City coach Sven-Goran Eriksson but it is the truth whats your opinion on this?
Pepe Reina Sees First Action of Season: Alongside Daniel Agger and Andy Carroll, two players reportedly left out...
Any news on Andy Carroll? And where is Pepe Reina? Think Bellamy will leave lfc tbh and go to Cardiff
Real Madrid aim to take advantage of uncertainty at Liverpool with a swoop for Dan Agger. The Daily Mail says Real Madrid have shown interest in Agger and that is bound to turn the player's head. The fortunate part is that Rodgers maintains a good relationship with Jose Mourinho, his former mentor at Chelsea, and any deal should be amicably arranged. Agger has been happy at Anfield though and if Rodgers convinces him he can take the club forward then he may stay. Questions remain on Martin Skrtel, Pepe Reina and Andy Carroll.
LFC Flop of the Season: Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Jose Enrique, Pepe Reina,..Hard to choose one really.
The Blues secured our third FA Cup in the space of four years with a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Wembley in a game which we dominated for large spells, only to find ourselves hanging on at the death. Ramires gave us an early advantage when he raced on to a wonderful Juan Mata pass and drilled his shot into the bottom corner, via the aid of a deflection off Pepe Reina's leg. There was a lack of clear-cut opportunities in the first half, but we doubled our advantage minutes into the second half when Didier Drogba took a Frank Lampard pass in his stride and drove his effort beyond Reina into the far corner, becoming the first player to score in four FA Cup Finals. It was no more than we deserved, but Andy Carroll threw Liverpool a lifeline after coming on as a substitute when he fired a powerful angled strike past Petr Cech to reduce the deficit. From that point onwards, it was all Liverpool. Carroll appeared to have equalised when he rose to meet a Luis Suarez cross, but replays proved the ball hadn't cro ...
Chelsea edged out Liverpool to win the FA Cup final 2-1 at Wembley as interim manager Roberto Di Matteo claimed his first piece of silverware. Ramires opened the scoring in the 11th minute with an incisive run down the right before beating Pepe Reina at his near post with a fierce strike, and Didier Drogba then secured his place in history as he became the first player to score in four separate FA Cup Finals with a clinical finish to double Chelsea’s lead just after half-time. Reds substitute Andy Carroll pulled a goal back with an emphatic shot in the 64th minute following a mistake from Jose Bosingwa, and was denied a second late on as Petr Cechpalmed a stunning save off the line with replays showing it was agonisingly close to being the equaliser. Chelsea held firm in the closing stages to seal a tight victory in a dramatic finale, and the Blues were left to celebrate a fourth FA Cup final triumph in the last six seasons with a Champions League final still to come in Munich. It was a stunning day for ...
