Andy Murray faces tough task to overcome Andreas Seppi in Davis Cup
Great Britain's Davis Cup captain Leon Smith admits his team face a "big challenge" in Italy this weekend but is confident they can progress to the semi-finals. Smith's team, which will be led on court by world number eight Andy Murray, take on the Italians in Naples on their least-favourite surface of clay. GB did beat the USA on the red dirt earlier in the year but the European clay is expected to play much differently, while the hosts have players more at home on the surface, such as world number 13 Fabio Fognini and Andreas Seppi. Speaking on Wednesday, Smith said: "We believe we can win which is important and we feel we've earned the right to be here.

Australian Open Day 4 Recap - Well they had a little bit of everything on day 4. The extreme heat rule was put into effect shortly after 2pm when the temps reach 110 degrees. This was the first time since 2009 the rule had to be enforced. The only matches that continued were the ones on Rod Laver and Hisense since they could close the roofs. The outdoor courts resumed about 4 hours later once the temps dropped enough. However, the skies opened up and rain and lightning postponed the matches even longer. Once play was able to resume on the outdoor courts, there was some really good tennis. The US men went 1-1 on Day 4. Donald Young and No. 24 Andreas Seppi swapped sets through the first 4 sets before the heat rule was put into effect. They had a long break before they started the 5th. Donald Young took the time to come up with a good game plan and pulled out the victory with a 7-5 win the deciding set. With that win, he joins Sam Querrey in the 3rd Round. Jack Sock came up just short in his matc ...

Lleyton Hewitt has been bundled out of the Australian Open, losing in five sets to Italy's Andreas Seppi.
I earned new respect for Italy's Andreas Seppi after watching his first-round five-set win at the Australian Open. Seppi beat Lleyton Hewitt amid loud, non-stop cheering for Aussie Hewitt ... overcoming a set-point ... in a match that lasted more than four hours ...in 108-degree heat. In fact, it was so hot that the tram tracks buckled and tennis fans ended up walking back from Melbourne Park to downtown.
What an amazing match played by Lleyton Hewitt and Andreas Seppi in 40deg plus for over 4 hours - no Lleyton didn't win but it went to 5sets and tie breakers a very good effort for someone only a couple of weeks off 33yrs A CHAMPION

Little bit of hate for Andreas Seppi right now, not gonna lie
My word, I've never seen teeth like those living inside Andreas Seppi's mouth. I thought I was watching The Mouth of Sauron when he knocked out his victory yell. And then when Jim Courier interviewed him, it was just like a conversation between Rocky Dennis and Bruce Spence.

Loving the Australian Open, Andreas Seppi looks better than Leyton Hewitt hehehehe. Can't wait to watch Nadal play oh even Sharapova is playing.. Good Morning fellow Tennis fans.. Who are you supporting this time?
Andreas Seppi is destroying these lines... geesh. And big ups to Rhyne Williams!!!
Roger Federer scores his first win of the 2014 AO with a straight sets victory over Aussie Wildcard James Duckworth. The Aussie put up some fight but the FedExpress was able to prevail in the end. Next up is Lleyton Hewitt on RLA up against Italy's Andreas Seppi.the court should get noisy from the Aussie Fanatics... Roger is joined in victory by fellow Swiss Stephanie Voegele as she gets it done in straight sets over Kristina Mladenovic of France. Tsonga also gets an easy win to make it into the next round as well. That makes three of my fave Frenchmen into the 2nd Round. Gilles Simon is the last one to go and he'll be playing later on one of the outer courts. Japan's No.1 Kei Nishikori battled through a tough 5th setter against Aussie Marinko Matosevic in 105 degree weather over the course of 3 and half hours. Unfortunately, this means that Matosevic once again fails to win a match at a GS.
Lleyton Hewitt is underway in his first round match of the v Andreas Seppi of Italy

A pair of doddering 32-year-olds will give it a go in the hot cauldron of Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday. Lleyton Hewitt is playing his 18th consecutive Australian Open and Roger Federer his 57th Grand Slam event in a row, breaking the record he shared with Wayne Ferreira of South Africa. Hewitt made his tournament debut in another millennium – 1997. “It’s the only time I’ve never played on Rod Laver Arena,” he laughed, “my only singles match on an outside court.” ‘Rusty’ from Adelaide is 30-17 at Melbourne Park and has only once made it past the round of 16 – losing the 2005 final to Marat Safin. His victory over Federer in the Brisbane International final two weeks ago has been a boost. “My ball striking at the moment is as good as it’s been in a long time,” he said. Hewitt is 3-3 head-to-head with this afternoon’s opponent, 29-year-old Andreas Seppi, but the Italian has not won a match in 2014, while Hewitt is 5-0. Federer, 4-1 this year, is no longer the force he was circa 2004 ...

Australia's male contingent could barely have fared worse at the Australian Open tournament draw after Bernard Tomic was matched with Rafael Nadal in the first round and Lleyton Hewitt was drawn with 24th seed Andreas Seppi of Italy.

Gulbis takes on Verdasco in Bercy opener: Ernests Gulbis and Ferando Verndasco headline Monday’s action at the BNPPM, with Kei Nishikori, Phillip Kohlschreiber, Robin Haase and Bernard Tomic also on court. Latvian Gulbis has been rising up the rankings, particularly after his second title of the year in St Petersburg two months ago, which catapulted him nine places up the order. He’ll be looking to end the year higher than his current world number 24 spot when he takes on the feisty Spaniard Verdasco in the afternoon session. Just in front of Gulbis in the rankings is Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany, who will meet world number 25 Andreas Seppi. Japan’s Kei Nishikori, ranked 19th, will take on French hope Julien Benneteau in the first of the evening matches, with the home fans treated to an all-French affair between Benoit Paire and first-time qualifying sensation Pierre-Hugues Herbert to close out day one’s action. Federer eyes London finale Roger Federer returns to action in Shanghai this week determined to book a place at the ATP's season-finale in London. The 17-time Grand Slam champion won his first-round doubles match with China's Zhang Ze at the Shanghai Masters on Monday and will play either Lleyton Hewitt or Andreas Seppi in his opening singles match later in the week. This has traditionally been a very successful time of year for Federer, and he will need it to be so again if he is to qualify for the end-of-season Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 Arena. The 32-year-old, who has qualified for the season-ending event in each of the last 11 years, told the ATP's official website: "It was the goal at the beginning of the season to qualify for (London). "I consider it the absolute best-of-the-best tournament out there, so I want to be part of that. It's extra motivation for me to play well and be part of that great tournament." Federer has won the elite eight-man tournament a record six times, including ...
Veteran Lleyton Hewitt crashed out of the Shanghai Masters at the hands of Andreas Seppi, missing the chance to play old rival Roger Federer as organisers scrambled to keep the storm hit tournament on track. Persistent rain - the lingering effects of Typhoon Fitow - forced matches onto indoor courts at the Qizhong Tennis Centre, with tournament chiefs attempting to make up for lost match time the previous day. Former world number 1 Hewitt's match was the 1st on the Stadium court, with Italian Seppi progressing after a straightforward 6-4, 6-2 win to play 17 time Grand Slam champion Federer in the 2nd round. Hewitt, 32, who has slipped out of the world's top 50, started strongly, breaking at the 1st opportunity and taking a 3-0 lead. But Seppi withstood the charge, winning 5 games in a row to seize the initiative. Japanese 40 something Kimiko Date-Krum sent young British hope Laura Robson crashing out of the Japan Women's Open in another triumph for her evergreen career. Date-Krumm, playing just days after ...

Well best made plans would have been executed perfectly yesterday but circumstances and precipitation prevailed!! The 1st match -Michael Llodra v Andreas Seppi - Llodra pulled out obviously sick no apparent injury, we then had to endure Serena Williams whitewashing Caroline Garcia, then Richard Gasquet who we've seen SO MANY times and then the scene was set ready for David Ferrer BUT THE RAINS CAME, the rains stayed and the rains became persistent - ended up on Henman Hill or Murray Mount in our classy plastic ponchos - but never dampened our spirits - fab day but fingers crossed for Centre Court or no rain next year!!!

Tennis Baghdatis falls early in Indian Wells World number 35 Marcos Baghdatis was the highest profile casualty on the opening day of the men's draw of the BNP Paribas Open, the Cypriot falling to Daniel Brands. Baghdatis, who reached the quarter-finals in Indian Wells seven years ago, was dumped out 6-0 7-6(3) by his German opponent. Next up for Brands is Andreas Seppi of Italy. Former world number one Lleyton Hewitt, twice a winner in Indian Wells, booked a date with 2012 runner-up John Isner after beating Lukas Rosol. World Sports News Tomic feeling 'unstoppable' after 1st win Feeling "unstoppable" after capturing his breakthrough ATP title, Bernard Tomic believes anything is possible in the Australian Open. The Queenslander continued his remarkable transformation with a gutsy 6-4 6-7 (7-2) 6-3 win over South African Kevin Anderson at the Sydney International on Saturday night in his first ATP final. It completed a marvellous day for Australian tennis, after Lleyton Hewitt had earlier secured the Kooyong Classic in Melbourne.
