Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has denied suggestions that his current war of words with the club is over wanting more money. On Friday, the 27-year-old had hinted at an exit from the Bianconeri this summer due to not knowing whether he was still considered an important player to Antonio Conte's men. With the transfer window a fortnight away, the midfielder has insisted that his reason for questioning the Turin-based club's intentions are not down to financial gain. Marchisio told Sky Sport: "It is not for this reason. For me, it is not about money." The Italy international, who is currently at the Confederations Cup with Cesare Prandelli's men, has been a key member of the squad in both of Juve's back-to-back Scudetto triumphs in the last two seasons. However, he has the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba to compete with in midfield and it has been suggested that he could depart the Juventus Stadium ahead of the new Serie A campaign.

JUVENTUS are sweating over the fitness of Andrea Pirlo. Boss Antonio Conte admits his side have been plunged into a selection crisis just days before they travel to Celtic Park for their last-16 Champions League tie. Pirlo, 33, was last night undergoing intensive treatment after returning from international duty nursing a thigh strain. He came off at half-time during Italy’s 1-1 draw with Holland and has been unable to train since. Pirlo will be given a fitness test before tonight’s game against Fiorentina, but Conte will take no risks. He has concerns over fellow midfielder Claudio Marchisio and appears to have given up any hope of fielding Africa Cup of Nations star Kwadwo Asamoah. Conte said: “Pirlo came back with a problem in his leg. “We are hoping it’s nothing serious, but unfortunately he has not been able to train. “We’ll monitor him and I will speak to him about whether he is able to play. “But of course we don’t want to take any risks for the future. “We had the same issues w ...
Marchisio lauds PSG´s Verratti 8 February 2013 14:47 Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has praised PSG's Marco Verratti and compared him to fellow Italy international Andrea Pirlo. Verratti impressed in Italy's 1-1 friendly draw against Netherlands on Wednesday after coming off the bench at half-time, and Marchisio believes the 20-year-old has a bright future ahead of him. "Marco is still young and has room for improvement, but he already has a lot of quality," Marchisio told La Stampa. "He is the player who is most similar to Pirlo. Andrea is a great player and still has plenty of years to play. We would be happy if he played for us forever, but Marco has some great qualities in his role, too. "Will Verratti ever play for Juventus? I am in no position to answer that. The transfer market is open twice per year, so there's always a chance." Verratti joined PSG from Pescara in 2012 and has a contract with the Ligue 1 side until June 2017.
Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio is a big fan of Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti. “He’s the closest thing to Andrea Pirlo.”
World Sports News Pogba double leads Juve to victory French teenager Paul Pogba scored a sensational brace to inspire depleted Juventus to a 4-0 rout of Udinese which helped the Serie A champions extend their lead over Lazio on Saturday. Juve started their 21st match of the campaign with a three-point lead on both Napoli and Lazio but missing key midfielders Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal due to recent injuries. After Lazio had to settle for a share of the points in a 2-2 draw at strugglers Palermo, Juve took full advantage. The champions now have a five-point lead over Lazio, who sit second on 43 points, and will be hoping Napoli, third on 42, find similar trouble Sunday in their away game against Fiorentina. Pogba, signed in the off-season on a free transfer from Manchester United, had already scored two sensational goals earlier this season. And the 19-year-old broke the deadlock near the end of a frustrating first half for the hosts by unleashing a 30-metre screamer which hit the cro ...
Juventus are expected to start tonight’s Coppa Italia tie against Milan without a host of first team regulars. Although a place in the semi-final is just 90 minutes away, boss Antonio Conte is being tipped to begin without Gigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Mirko Vucinic. The champions will also be shy of the injured Giorgio Chiellini and Claudio Marchisio. Conte is set to field a 3-5-2, but has yet to decide whether to start with Federico Peluso or Paul Pogba. Emanuele Giaccherini will thus play on the flank or in the middle depending on which of the two get the nod. Alessandro Matri and Sebastian Giovinco should start in attack as Fabio Quagliarella is suspended, while Vucinic is not fully fit. Luca Marrone, fielded as a centre-back this term, will return to his usual midfield role in the absence of Pirlo. Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri is limited by injury problems in defence, while goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has not even been included in the squad. Kevin Prince Boateng should see ...

Serie A Week 17: Did You Know? Juventus are Campioni d’Inverno for the 26th time in their history, going on to win the Scudetto in 17 of the previous 25 occasions (not including 2004-05 and 2005-06, where the Scudetti were stripped). The last time they failed to take the title after being top at the half-way stage – not counting the Calciopoli years – was 1999-00. Mirko Vucinic had provided the assists for the last three Juventus League goals, but finally got his name on the scoresheet for the first time since September 16, a 3-1 victory in Genoa, for his 85th in Serie A. The Montenegrin’s last goal in Turin was in January against Cagliari. The Bianconeri have now won their last five games in all competition and haven’t conceded in 509 minutes of football. Claudio Marchisio got his third in as many rounds. Andrea Pirlo has scored four goals directly from free kicks this term, more than anyone else in the Division. In all 20 of Pirlo’s 49 Serie A goals have been free kicks, catching Roberto Bag ...

Juventus registered their first Champions League win of the season after a comfortable victory over FC Nordsjaelland. First-half strikes from Claudio Marchisio, Arturo Vidal and Sebastian Giovinco, plus a second-half header from Fabio Quagliarella were enough to see off the Norwegian champions as the Italians finally tasted victory after three successive draws. For the hosts, Mauricio Isla came in for Stephan Lichtsteiner who was injured in their 3-1 loss to Inter at the weekend, while Alessandro Matri replaced Mirko Vucinic. The visitors made two changes from the team who won 2-1 at Sonderjyske, with Soren Christensen and Morten Nordstrand making way for Andreas Laudrup and Nicolai Stokholm. Juventus were thankful for a Vucinic strike nine minutes from time to spare the Serie A champion's blushes when the two teams met a fortnight ago. However, it took them just six minutes to get on the scoresheet tonight as Isla's low cross from the right was converted by Marchisio from six yards out. And they were two ...
