From the week.com "A new poll has found that a big plurality of women are largely dissatisfied with the Republican Party. The report, which includes survey results from eight national focus groups as well as a poll of 800 registered female voters, was commissioned by two Republican groups. Politico obtained the internal Crossroads GPS and American Action Network report, and it "paints a dismal picture for Republicans," Politico says. Female voters found the GOP "intolerant," "lacking in compassion," and "stuck in the past," and 49 percent of women reported viewing Republicans unfavorably. The poll, which was conducted by Public Opinion Strategies and Axis Research, does not seem to come as a surprise to Republicans, who have said they "recognize the problem" and are working to expand the party's appeal to women. "The gender gap is hardly a new phenomenon, but nevertheless, it's important for conservatives to identify what policies best engage women, and our project found multiple opportunities," Dan Const ...

"Everywhere Alex Sink goes, a mess follows," the ad says, showing a bucket with holes in it being filled up in a sink. "As President of a Florida bank, thousands of Florida jobs were cut, while Sink collected over $8 million in salary and bonuses for herself. Alex Sink For Congress? Isn't Washington already a mess?" GOP Special Interest Groups Push House GOP to Cave on Email Article Print article Send a Tip by Matthew Boyle 8 Jul 2013 114 post a comment The American Action Network, an establishment GOP advocacy group, has decided it will air a new television ad on Monday called “Surge” that aims to depict the “Gang of Eight” immigration bill that just passed the Senate as tough on border security. The group, which is led by former Minnesota Republican Sen. Norm Coleman, will spend more than $100,000 on television ads to air on Fox News Channel during prime time this week pushing the bill in the House. Coleman founded the American Action Network with Sen. John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign National Finance Committee co-chair Fred Malek. In addition to his various roles in politics, Malek is the founder and chairman of Thayer Lodging Group. “The conservative border surge plan is tough, enforceable, takes away discretion from the Obama administration, and that would finally secure the border,” the gr ...

Sadly, immigration is not the only baggage Rubio carries. G.O.P. Groups Offering Cover for Lawmakers on Immigration By JEREMY W. PETERS July 1, 2013 WASHINGTON — Fox News viewers in Florida will see a new commercial in the coming weeks urging them to call Senator Marco Rubio. “Thank him for keeping his promise, and fighting to secure the border,” a narrator says in the ad, which is paid for by the conservative American Action Network. Another group, Americans for a Conservative Direction, led by former Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi and other top Republicans, has been running ads in Iowa lately that implore those watching to “stand with Marco Rubio to end de facto amnesty.” And when the Americans for Prosperity Foundation, the Koch brothers’ political advocacy group, decided to move its signature annual conference outside Washington for the first time, it picked a spot right in Mr. Rubio’s political backyard: Orlando. The keynote speaker? Mr. Rubio. Mr. Rubio’s advocacy for a proposal t ...

This Paula Deen crap is annoying. Who cares what she said 30 years ago.Leave the old lady alone and let her cook. Now she finds her show on Food Network cancelled along with some other sponsors of her pulling out. I mean seriously, she's loosing everything because of this.QVC hasn't fired her yet, but taking it into consideration. It's just ridiculous to say the least. That woman is hurting no one. All she loves to do is cook good food and share it with the world. They should leave her alone. She has publicly and sincerely apologized for it a number of times now. She was on the Today Show this morning apologizing again. I don't think she needs to apologize for anything myself. Who knows how you would react after having a gun pointed at your head and let's hold everyone responsible for everything they ever said even if it was 30 years ago.
Paul, I have good news and bad news. First – the bad news: By now you know that the U.S. Senate has completely failed America. In what the mainstream media is calling a major victory, the U.S. Senate passed AMNESTY immigration on Thursday. But who is to blame? Republicans! You and I were sold down the river by two Republican Senators from reliable Republican states: Sen. Lamar Alexander – TN Sen. Lindsey Graham – SC Obviously these two career-politicians care more about pleasing their friends “Inside-the-Beltway” then they do their constituents back home. It’s obvious that they have completely abandoned their conservative principles that got them elected in the first place. Let me be clear – I am not anti-Immigration! I agree that the system needs reform. But I am totally opposed to the way these two Senators rushed this bill through in this fashion. We just wanted full, fair, and public hearings on any immigration bill. As you know, any immigration reform MUST place an emphasis on national ...

Was watching The Iron Giant the other day and realized Brad Bird had made a perfect Superman film. In fact his Incredibles movie and Iron Giant are both superior to Man of Steel and Superman Returns in every aspect. Character development and the relationships of the families in both films are crucial to their respective stories. Then Brad Bird directed his first live action film Ghost Protocol and it was the best Mission Impossible movie yet. He proved he can do story and action. Bird needs to be the director of a Marvel film but I think DC/WB need to put him on Superman sequel so bad due to MoS being a bit of a joke. :D
I am concerned that the same people supporting Paula Deen also support Zimmerman's right to shoot a 17 year old without a weapon walking HOME. After all "it's his 2nd Amendment right" and ignore the 6th commandment "thou shalt not kill" …30And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. 31And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:30-31

After the terrorist attack of 9\11 on America, the very first terrorist network decided to be damaged by America was the then ruling Taliban network in Afghanistan and its associate's terrorist organization Al Qaeda. Afghanistan is the only country in the world which was taken under the change by force of bullet by the fundamental extremist by giving reference of religious Islamic teaching. It is a different thing that America had played a very sympathetic role to crest the then Afghan President Najeeb and had helped the Taliban to overpower the rule of Afghanistan. Afghanistan has to undergo many ups and down since the time of oust of Najeeb from power and the Taliban control over power. The Taliban announced Kandahar as the capital of Afghanistan in place of the beautiful traditional capital of Kabul. This was done because Kandahar was the area where there was a lot of the Taliban influence. Anyhow, after 9\11when the NATO army ousted the extremist Talibanis, the America led army felt a sigh of relief. ...

Just curious if anyone thinks Paula Dean's punishment of loosing essentially everything fit her horrific remark said many years ago. Do I think what she said was wrong, let me say emphatically yes. When I see other celebs do and say things, and all of their contracts remain in place, I wonder about this one.

An American citizen was killed in the Egyptian port city of Alexandria on Friday during clashes between supporters and opponents of President Mohammed Morsi, Al-Ahram reported. A total of two people were killed in the city on Friday, the report said, the second victim being an Egyptian man. The American man died from a stab wound to the chest, according to Amin Ezz El-Din, head of Alexandria's security directorate. Ezz El-Din told Al-Ahram that the young American had been taking pictures with his mobile phone near one of the offices of the Muslim Brotherhood, the group from which President Morsi hails, when he was attacked by unknown assailants. The victim was rushed to a military hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The man, whose name remains unconfirmed, reportedly worked as a journalistic photographer. The state-owned news agency MENA reported earlier that 70 people who were injured in the Alexandria clashes were being treated at the hospital. Al-Ahram reported that the offices of the Muslim B ...

Practice Trends ACOG to lawmakers: Stop meddling By: MARY ELLEN SCHNEIDER, Ob.Gyn. News Digital Network Ob.gyn. leaders from across the country have issued a strongly worded policy statement telling lawmakers to stop interfering in the physician-patient relationship and calling on doctors to speak out against legislative overreaching. On June 7, the executive board of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said that laws that require physicians to give or withhold specific information when counseling patients or that mandates the tests, procedures, and treatments that physicians can offer are "ill advised." "Absent a substantial public health justification, government should not interfere with individual patient-physician encounters," the executive board wrote. Dr. Jeanne A. Conry ACOG offered some examples in which they said state legislators have intruded into medical practice with laws that: • Require medically unnecessary ...

Finally figured out a decent bookshelf organization. First, the general scheme. Books are rated in importance as reading/reference from proximity to desk. Aside from a storage set, the books near the desk reside in the Book Trolley, Leftmost Shelf, Middle Shelf, and Rightmost Shelf. The Trolley is sited directly at the desk and the shelves procede in left-to-right from it. Here are the books near the desk (storage order not as important). The toughest thing was not organizing the shelves themselves (something I don't really do) but what goes on each shelf. (Disclaimer) many of these books are unread or partially read. That is the point of having them out---as they can be eventually all, in some shape or form, read at least partially or fully or used as reach-and-grab reference material for quick inquiries. (1) Book Trolley: (a) mathematics of engineering, physics, and computer science, (b) immediate references on Mac OSX, Linux, and virtualization, (c) guides to Mathematica and Matlab programming, (c) rem ...

Norm Coleman sees big paydays from nonprofits American Action Network, American Action Forum paid former senator handsomely Leading two politically focused nonprofits has generated big money for former Republican Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota — with paydays better than when he served in Congress’ upper chamber. Coleman collected more than $570,000 during a nearly three-year tenure at the helm of the American Action Network and the American Action Forum, for an average of about $190,000 annually, according to a Center for Public Integrity review of federal filings. That includes a combined salary of more than $116,000 in 2011, according to the groups' most recent annual reports — though Coleman was only a paid, full-time employee of the organizations for a portion of that year. According to documents filed with the Internal Revenue Service, Coleman worked a combined 40 hours a week for the two conservative nonprofits during 2009 and 2010 — their first two years of existence, when he served as both ...
The election is behind us, but the money spent on campaigning is still being counted. One big spender, especially in Minnesota, was the American Action Network, a Republican-leaning nonprofit group founded by former Sen. Norm Coleman. The group spent at least $2.3 million trying to get first-term Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack re-elected in the 8th District. While that effort failed, Coleman is claiming credit for other congressional victories.

Few Americans could have imagined the horror that came from the skies on that beautiful day eleven years ago when terrorists attacked our nation. Yet, in a few short hours, the full fury of American resolve came into plain view as the world watched our nation come together. The terrorists accomplished the brutal, inhumane, destruction of buildings and killing of innocents that day. But, the gathering storm of American will and power – and the expression of our ideals of freedom and liberty – delivered justice to those who came to destroy our nation. America stands stronger today because who we are as a people is not constructed with concrete and steel, but built upon our abiding commitment to the principles of Liberty and Democracy. God Bless those who perished on 9/11 – God Bless those who took up the call to defend our nation – God Bless America. -Sen. Norm Coleman, Chairman, American Action Network

Did Obama ever associate with anyone who loved our country? Frank Marshall Davis was a poet, labor activist and a prominent member of the Communist Party USA.
